#BBCMicroBit #DFRobot #Maqueen This MCO #covid19lockdown provided me with some extra time and some spare money to indulge in my little hobbies and curiosity. Despite the day hours of #WFH still took the better part of the day, I felt the time saved from the daily commute gave me some extra time and freedom to start some interesting home projects. I had been curious about this BBC Micro:bit for awhile. Decided to give this item for a go. In UK, you can actually get this for free if you are in elementary school. I'm neither that young nor do I reside there. So I have to pay for it! I showed it to my son, he wasn't so into it. Although he wanted to program some games, he didn't have the perseverance to learn programming logic. Hopefull he will pick it up later. I didn't have the time to go through Python code, I just downloaded the standard code and flashed the microbit to give it spin just to see how it went and to check the kit was working or not. So far so good. Now I'm considering to get Aduino Uno R3 kit and see if I can pair it up with Raspberry Pi and Microbit. 🆕 RP2040 DVI Feather makes for a great EDID reader-burner 🎉💡🚀🛠️💻🎒
we've been stocking our 5" and 7" TFT backpacks https://www.adafruit.com/search?q=hdmi+display+backpack for almost a decade and one thing that's been annoying is that during test we have to burn the EDID to the onboard EEPROM and then separately test that the EDID and display work right. the first part was always done with an Arduino compatible, the second part with a Windows computer - originally we used a desktop machine and now we use DFrobot LattePandas since they're portable and small enough to put into a tester kit bin. the reason we can't use a raspberry pi is because linux may cache EDIDs - and we really want to force-load it each time. now with our DVI feather https://www.adafruit.com/product/5710 we've got an all-in-one solution! we can write/verify the EDID over I2C and then display a nice aquarium demo to test the TFT. it's fast and foolproof! 🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠
