it was like a td/dvc crossover(probably from dvcas hype). only got about 3/4th of the way thru the season before I woke up and I don't remember who all was there except for Noah and Tom(faves rise up) and they had a thing or smthn going on idr. the season itself had big reloaded! vibes(which is a really good fic btw), being all industrial and indoors and stuff(sans the gun theme)

Modus Dj e Manolo Terruzzi insieme al DVCA di Milano per un mix di cucina e musica

Chi ama la buona musica, soprattutto la house e la buona cucina può cliccare su Instagram, precisamente al link in calce a questo testo. Infatti Modus Dj (nella foto sulla destra) e lo chef Manolo Terruzzi hanno dato vita insieme ad una performance decisamente inedita, uno al mixer e l'altro ai fornelli, al DVCA di Milano (https://dvca.it,  via Rovello 18), ristorante già molto conosciuto da chi in città vuol viziarsi un po'. Non è una collaborazione casuale: Modus Dj è resident in questo spazio e spesso dà il giusto ritmo a dinner show e party esclusivi.

Come dice la parola stessa, gli chef di solito comandano... ma per una volta è stata la musica a dettare il ritmo di questa 'performance': "Lo chef si è mosso organizzando i piani di lavoro in base alla sua ispirazione e alla programmazione della giornata, ma i 'tempi' chiaramente venivano dettati dai dischi che via via selezionavo", continua Modus Dj, uno che di cibo ne sa. Eccome. "Ecco una top tre dei miei piatti preferiti, ovviamente tutti da gustare al DVCA. Parto con un primo del Nord, anche se sono pugliese: risotto della riseria di Nori alla milanese con pistilli di zafferano e midollo. Come secondo scelgo un cubo di maialino da latte cotto a bassa temperatura laccato al miele con schiacciata di patate all'extravergine. Per finire, un bicchiere tutto pistacchio tra il dolce e il salato... ditemi voi se non sono una buona forchetta.

E' un video dj set dal sound decisamente house. "Lo chef Teruzzi è un grande cultore della techno e della tech house, ha girato il mondo seguendo i migliori esponenti di questo genere, da Carl Cox  a Sven Vath, da Nina Kraviz Marco Carola",  spiega Modus Dj. "Non potevo stravolgere la mia idea iniziale, cioè proporre soprattutto musica 'funky, groove'...126 bpm perfetti per fare ballare lo chef e i suoi piatti. E a un certo punto ho pure proposto 'Music Is The Answer' di Danny Tenaglia nel remix di Pagano... e ho visto negli occhi dello chef tanti cuoricini, per un ritorno brillante agli anni che furono".

A Long-Expected Party

Bilbo Baggins vanished on his eleventy-first birthday. That was a good thing, I thought, as I peered into the Bodleian exhibition cabinet to see the hand-scratched, one-page summary of the great story that Tolkien wanted to tell. Bilbo’s vanishing marked the transposition from The Hobbit to The Lord of the Rings; a shift from a beloved children’s book to a world trilogy that we needed.

Tolkien took a lot of pages to tell us one of the simplest, and most powerful lessons you can learn. Let go. We needed all those pages, and we still do, because the message is so hard.

If you are ever fortunate to find an idea, then you must know that it will never be yours forever, or even for long. If you find more than one, then more so. Ideas only become good ones when people wrestle with them—even baulk at them—and then clothe themselves in them. It is in that wrestle, tussle, tumble, that ideas become good ones. The very best ones are those that everyone else thinks that they discovered.

Lots of people will say that the ANU flexible double degrees, the Admissions, Scholarships and Accommodation (ASA) project and Kambri are mine. They are not. They have always been legacies for the collective audacity, care, and investment of everyone who helped to make them what they are. Academics. Administrators. Staff from all levels and backgrounds from across the University.

When you let go, you make it possible for new ideas to happen, and for you to be different and to grow. You also make it possible for others to find and to shepherd new ideas, and to grow. You don’t vanish, you become different. Humans are much better than hobbits in that aspect.

Tolkien’s summary resonated with me not simply because of the story he wanted to tell. He had a big story that spilled into multiple volumes. He needed to tell it. All from a sketchy map and a one-page summary.

It rang a chord because the book that I thought I was writing to completion this year went from being a standalone statement to being part of a much bigger story about the relationship between my twin loves of history and philosophy. My interdisciplinary space is no safe harbour. People shoot one another in the name of history. Whole families have been wiped out because of history. Moreover, our digital world and selves are what they are perhaps because of histories that go without saying. Every algorithm builds a world from a past, and we need to be conscious of that to build a better and a fairer world.

So I am stepping down after seven years of service as DVCA at ANU at the end of 2018 to let new ideas happen and to grow. Those of you who follow me on twitter already know that book two of four—on how ethics can be found in the size and the scale of histories—is underway. I’ll blog my swansong to Kambri once more this year.

My blog will be back in a new form next year. I’ll be blogging my first thoughts on book three—historicizing artificial intelligence—from the ground up. I hope that you will all continue to baulk, tussle and tug at my ideas, and to help me to say what needs to be said about a potentially new world.

About: INLCU L57 is the seventh Landing Craft Utility (LCU) MK-IV class to be inducted into the Indian Navy. The last ship of the same class is at an advanced stage of construction at M/S GRSE, Kolkata. The ship has been indigenously designed and built by M/s Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata. The LCU MK-IV ship, is an amphibious vessel with a designated primary role of transporting and deploying Main Battle Tanks, Armoured Vehicles, troops and equipment from ship to shore. About: It envisages to setup six to eight new test facilities in partnership with private industry. This will facilitate indigenous defence production, consequently reduce imports of military equipment and help make the country self-reliant. The projects under the Scheme will be provided with up to 75% government funding in the form of ‘Grant-in-Aid’. The remaining 25% of the project cost will have to be borne by the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) whose constituents will be Indian private entities and State Governments. The SPVs under the Scheme will be registered under Companies Act 2013 and shall also operate and maintain all assets under the Scheme, in a self-sustainable manner by collecting user charges. There’s long been a dearth of Eurorack modules that conform to the Intellijel 1U (i1U) format, but that’s starting to change. One of the modules at the forefront of that change is the After Later Audio dVCA. Based on Mutable Instruments Veils (and what isn’t based on MI modules these days?), multiple modules can be daisy chained for operation as a mixer.

And suddenly, after having exactly zero i1U VCAs on the market for so long, we have two. Intellijel recently released the Dual VCA 1U, which offers similar specs to the dVCA, but at a slightly lower price and taking up significantly fewer HP.  Of course, it’s easier to be cheaper and smaller when you drop the dVCA’s gain and response curve potentiometers. 

These both look like great options, but if you’re a believer in rule #29, “You can never have too many VCAs”, then the Intellijel option might win the day, as you can cram a whole lot of them in your rack’s i1U row.

A febbraio 2019 molte delle location più "up" del vivace panorama milanese hanno in comune il sound sofisticato e particolare di Modus Dj, professionista della musica e del mixer che da sempre mescola funky e house in modo decisamente personale. "Un dj come me ha il compito di rendere ogni evento unico, particolare, da ricordare", racconta Modus DJ. "Non è facile, ma personalmente, più che seguire mode o tendenze, propongo sempre musica che mi faccia battere il cuore".

A febbraio 2019 è protagonista in console tra Principe di Savoia, Sheraton Diana Majestic e Dvca, luoghi di ritrovo d'eccellenza... mentre sta lavorando su nuove produzioni discografiche che usciranno nelle prossime settimane.

Poco più che trentenne (è nato il 29/03/1987 a Manduria, in provincia di Taranto), Salvatore Modeo al mixer Modus Dj è un professionista della console già piuttosto affermato. Ad esempio, è protagonista in molti degli 'hot spot' milanesi (Principe di Savoia, Diana Majestic, Duomo 21, etc), con la sua house, sempre melodica e contaminata dal funky. I suoi dj set hanno sempre sonorità calde, visto che predilige tracce in cui gli strumenti sono suonati da veri musicisti. Soprattutto all'ora dell'aperitivo e dopocena, Modus dj fa muovere a tempo un pubblico anche adulto nelle hall di hotel ed in location esclusive. In console ha una tecnica notevole, che qualche volta mostra in video su YouTube.

Affascinato dalla musica fin da bambino, Modus Dj ha iniziato ad avvicinarsi prima a una tastiera, con cui riproduceva le melodie delle canzoni. Poi, a soli 9 anni, ha iniziato ad essere affascinato dai vinili e dai cd per diventare dj. Sono arrivati così i primi party e le prime esperienze nelle radio locali tra cui Radio Rama e Radio Meeting, quest'ultima legata al Munich, una discoteca molto importante nell'Italia del Sud alla fine degli anni 80-90. "Il locale era gestito a livello artistico da Gregorio Zito, che considero il mio maestro. E' lui che mi ha fatto conoscere le basi del mestiere del, ovvero l'importanza della cultura musicale, quella della tecnica e soprattutto quanto conti avere un approccio umile. E' l'umiltà che ti permette di imparare sempre", racconta Modus Dj. Dopo diverse esperienze in Puglia, in Emilia Romagna e pure all'estero (Winter Music Conference, Miami), Modus nel 2012 si è trasferito a Milano, dove vive tutt'ora. In breve tempo è diventato protagonista della scena musicale della città e si esibisce con continuità in location importanti.

A febbraio 2019 è protagonista in console tra Principe di Savoia, Sheraton Diana Majestic e Dvca, luoghi di ritrovo d'eccellenza... mentre sta lavorando su nuove produzioni discografiche che usciranno nelle prossime settimane.

Poco più che trentenne (è nato il 29/03/1987 a Manduria, in provincia di Taranto), Salvatore Modeo al mixer Modus Dj è un professionista della console già piuttosto affermato. Ad esempio, è protagonista in molti degli 'hot spot' milanesi (Principe di Savoia, Diana Majestic, Duomo 21, etc), con la sua house, sempre melodica e contaminata dal funky. I suoi dj set hanno sempre sonorità calde, visto che predilige tracce in cui gli strumenti sono suonati da veri musicisti. Soprattutto all'ora dell'aperitivo e dopocena, Modus dj fa muovere a tempo un pubblico anche adulto nelle hall di hotel ed in location esclusive. In console ha una tecnica notevole, che qualche volta mostra in video su YouTube.

Affascinato dalla musica fin da bambino, Modus Dj ha iniziato ad avvicinarsi prima a una tastiera, con cui riproduceva le melodie delle canzoni. Poi, a soli 9 anni, ha iniziato ad essere affascinato dai vinili e dai cd per diventare dj. Sono arrivati così i primi party e le prime esperienze nelle radio locali tra cui Radio Rama e Radio Meeting, quest'ultima legata al Munich, una discoteca molto importante nell'Italia del Sud alla fine degli anni 80-90. "Il locale era gestito a livello artistico da Gregorio Zito, che considero il mio maestro. E' lui che mi ha fatto conoscere le basi del mestiere del, ovvero l'importanza della cultura musicale, quella della tecnica e soprattutto quanto conti avere un approccio umile. E' l'umiltà che ti permette di imparare sempre", racconta Modus Dj. Dopo diverse esperienze in Puglia, in Emilia Romagna e pure all'estero (Winter Music Conference, Miami), Modus nel 2012 si è trasferito a Milano, dove vive tutt'ora. In breve tempo è diventato protagonista della scena musicale della città e si esibisce con continuità in location importanti.

Modus Dj e lo chef Manolo Terruzzi, il 28/9 online il video dj set registrato al DVCA di Milano

Lunedì 28 Settembre 2020 è una bella giornata per chi ama la buona musica e la buona cucina. Infatti sarà disponibile sui canali social di Modus Dj (nella foto sulla destra) e sul quelli de il DVCA di Milano (https://dvca.it,  via Rovello 18), ristorante già molto conosciuto da chi in città vuol viziarsi un po', un video dj set che mette insieme la musica di Modus Dj e la cucina di Manolo Terruzzi (nella foto sulla sinistra), chef d'eccezione. Non è una collaborazione casuale: Modus Dj è resident in questo spazio e spesso dà il giusto ritmo a dinner show e party esclusivi.

Che musica si sente in questo video, che è proprio lo 'spot' perfetto per un dj con un sound sempre originale... mentre mostra come lavora chi in cucina sta davvero, ogni giorno, da anni? "Lo chef Teruzzi è un grande cultore della techno e della tech house, ha girato il mondo seguendo i migliori esponenti di questo genere, da Carl Cox  a Sven Vath, da Nina Kraviz Marco Carola", racconta Modus Dj. "Non potevo stravolgere la mia idea iniziale, cioè proporre soprattutto musica 'funky, groove'...126 bpm perfetti per fare ballare lo chef e i suoi piatti. E a un certo punto ho pure proposto 'Music Is The Answer' di Danny Tenaglia nel remix di Pagano... e ho visto negli occhi dello chef tanti cuoricini, per un ritorno brillante agli anni che furono".

In cucina gli chef sono abituati a comandare, ma per una volta il ritmo è stato quello della musica... "Lo chef si è mosso organizzando i piani di lavoro in base alla sua ispirazione e alla programmazione della giornata, ma i 'tempi' chiaramente venivano dettati dai dischi che via via selezionavo", continua Modus Dj, uno che di cibo ne sa. Eccome. "Ecco una top tre dei miei piatti preferiti, ovviamente tutti da gustare al DVCA. Parto con un primo del Nord, anche se sono pugliese: risotto della riseria di Nori alla milanese con pistilli di zafferano e midollo. Come secondo scelgo un cubo di maialino da latte cotto a bassa temperatura laccato al miele con schiacciata di patate all'extravergine. Per finire, un bicchiere tutto pistacchio tra il dolce e il salato... ditemi voi se non sono una buona forchetta.

Soprattutto all'ora dell'aperitivo e dopocena, Modus dj fa muovere a tempo un pubblico anche adulto nelle hall di hotel ed in location esclusive. Chi è Manolo Terruzzi (chef DVCA di Milano) Lo chef Manolo Teruzzi proviene da una famiglia di ristoratori lombardi. Dopo la scuola alberghiera ed alcune esperienze europee tra le più variegate, approda nel 2006 a Milano dove in collaborazione con Rosanna Orlandi, trend setter di fama, apre Pane e Acqua, piccolo ma delizioso ristorante disegnato da Paola Navone. Nel 2006 acquista la Scaletta, di porta Genova, precedentemente condotto dalla indimenticabile Pina Bellini, storico punto di riferimento della ristorazione milanese degli anni 80/90. Dopo un restyling al locale inizialmente progettato da Gianfranco Frattini allievo di Giò Ponti, architetto e designer parte attiva del movimento che diede vita allo sviluppo del made in Italy, riporta ai fasti gastronomici lo storico locale. La Scaletta torna a far parlare tutte le guide tornando a garantire una qualità che nel tempo era poco a poco svanita. Durante la decennale presenza sulla scena della ristorazione milanese nascono le collaborazioni con molte aziende, in diversi ambiti, soprattutto moda e design, favoriti anche dall'ubicazione posta al perimetro della frequentatissima Zona Tortona. Nel luglio del 2016 viene apre nel quadrilatero il temporary Be&at's Restaurant and Bar, interessante interpretazione della cucina milanese in una atmosfera magica, il ristorante ideato dall'architetto Andrea Fogli nel vecchio spazio che fu di Alfio Bocciardi, un altro di quei toscani che fece fortuna a Milano, proprietario anche del Savini e popolare presidente di categoria. A settembre 2018 apre nella bellissima cornice di palazzo Cagnola D V C A restaurant & bar. L'architetto Andra fogli interpreta al meglio gli spazi che una volta furono parte della cancelleria asburgica a Milano. A pochi passi da Brera, piazza duomo e il castello il nuovo ristorante è oggi aperto al pubblico proponendo una cucina di base mediterranea contemporanea, le solide radici italiane e le esperienze gastronomiche maturate hanno consentito, unitamente alla materia prima d'eccellenza, di proporre una cucina giusta e bilanciata, mai banale che hai incontrato i favori della clientela.
