Even decades later the crumbles of a temple reeked of smoke. Once white marble columns now wore the mourning shrouds of ash. In place of song and prayers only the haunting cry of rusty wind. The base of the arching structure still remained, and beneath its dome a pond, its water stained maroon. The only other smell was one of iron, cutting inside the senses of unwelcome visitors. Fresh flowers, neatly placed among the broken pantheon, had none. 

The Sun too did not dare to disturbed their vigil with its rays. The darkness spilled if the place, like, spreading disease, it rooted its poison deep inside a soul, letting the flower grief to bloom. That dark was nothing like the blackened night sky nor depths of the river stream. This Dark was allconsuming hole in one’s very being. An endless hungry void feeding upon uninvited guests. None dared to cross its ground yet those few who did, spoke of crimson robe, burning amidst the lifeless scenery.  

A ghost of flesh and blood. Raven hair messily felt on her shoulders, skin even paler than ever. Eyes, once soft, now sparked with steel. A shadow brought to life. Last sister of a once thriving clan. 

Alcmene. Name felt so foreign. The river healed her that day. Gods watched her rise. They saw her fall. A cruel joke no less. What is to be alive? Her spirit burnt along with her sisters. Her heart.. Alcmene held it in her hands as it skipped its last beat.

Even now, she only dared to speak its name to wild winds.

A mere half-whisper.

i was probably the last person on the planet to realize this "homestead" poncho was the pattern from the roof of luke's childhood home (and where shmi lived b4 she died).

i LOVED this poncho even before this because u find it on dathomir and i thought it was a zabrak pattern

What's that? You thought this was gonna be the Thrawn chapter? So did I! I was literally halfway through the first page of that when this came to me in a vision after years of having decided I was going to skip over the Maul plot. Lol 💀

Thing is Maul and Ezra's relationship has a little too much potential, I just couldn't seem to come up with anything that was achievable in a reasonable time frame and wouldn't spiral into a whole spinoff. It definitely deserves to be expanded upon further but there's more important stuff to get to, I just want to wolf the other Spectres already dammit.

Anyway, in case it wasn't obvious this takes place during Visions and Voices. Maul glimpsed the Wolf when they joined the holocrans and has wondered about it ever since. To the several asks I got curious about Maul in this series that I never got around to answering, this one's for you! This chapter definitely wouldn't have happened without those <3

Maul, in Rebels, says that he had a different name that he has forgotten.

So, this gives us choices:

1- He had an equally weird first name, because that’s just what they do on Dathomir. He was called Brutal or something (like Savage and Feral)

2- He had a perfectly normal first name, because people on Dathomir just pick names. Savage and Feral are exceptions, not the rule

3- Maul being named Maul by Sidious is what changed the Dathomirian naming convention.

4- Maul is just wrong. He was always named Maul, but he doesn’t want that. He feels like Sidious must’ve taken his name too. He either is intentionally lying for sympathy, or is just genuinely mistaken. Most Sith have different Darth names (Darth Vader, Darth Tyrannus)
