Here it is!!! Part 1 of our first cake!!!
I'll make a separate post with just pictures and explanations for those of u who aren't video people c: in the meantime, enjoy part one of our yummy yummy cake - the praline paste! Basic recipe under the cut c:
Transcript hopefully coming later, feel free to add your own (transcribing is a lot of work o.O)
(Pst - if you like this video, and wanna see more, or want me to get cooler ingredients, consider sending a few dollars my way! P*yp*l is innalheid)
Praline paste
54g peanuts
60g white sugar
Water, as needed
Splash of rum or vanilla extract
Splash of neutral oil (I used olive oil)
Roast peanuts in 350⁰F oven for about 5-10min, until you can start to smell them. Place sugar in a pot on the stove and wet sugar with water. Leave no sugar dry!! Put on high heat, and watch carefully until sugar has cooked to a caramel colour. Immediately removed from heat and stir in roasted peanuts. Stir until caramel starts to get sticky and coat nuts, then remove from pot onto parchment paper and leave to cool.
Once fully cooled and hardened, break up caramel coated nuts into smaller chunks. Blend in food processor, blender, or with a stick blender until smooth. You can add a splash of extract for flavour, and splashes of a neutral oil to help your paste come together a little easier. Transfer to a sealable container and store in the fridge for later use!

You shot a glare at Bucky, who only chuckled in response.
Linking his arm with yours, Bucky suggested, "Let's go meet them together."
Rosie was taken aback when she spotted Bucky.
"I woke up today and still don't see the other half, Princess," Bucky quipped.
Maintaining her composure, Rosie replied, "You're too impatient. My assistant just delivered it to your club."
"Ooh, then I hope you like the service," Bucky retorted with a smirk.
"Impeccable," Rosie replied smoothly, before turning her gaze to you. She tilted her head slightly and added, "I always sensed that you're an adventurous person. I admire your work. I felt comfortable when I found out you're part of this."
You hadn't expected such a compliment from her. While you had met Rosie a few times before, you always felt a sense of superiority from her.
Surrounded by Eddie and Freddie, you never felt out of place. But when Rosie, with her royal blood as a princess, joined the group, the dynamic shifted, and the boys seemed to adopt a more regal demeanor.
Despite your ability to keep up with them, there were times during the summer when you preferred to retreat to Rupert's empty mansion.
You leaned in closer to Rosie and whispered, "Why did you do it?"
Rosie leaned in, her voice barely audible as she replied, "That man doesn't fit to be the future King. It wasn't me who wants him dead. I only lent a hand."
As Rosie spoke, you realized that the relationships within the royal family were even more intricate than you had imagined.
"Some people like your work," Rosie continued. "And I think you will get another client."
Bucky puffed out his chest proudly upon hearing this, nudging your shoulder. "You hear that? Encore."
However, you didn't share Bucky's excitement. While the client may have admired your work, you couldn't find any pride in the situation.
Excusing yourself, you stated, "I need to see my mom and Charlotte."
Once you were at a distance, you pulled out your phone and dialed the family lawyer, Cedric. "Cedric, we need to meet."
#########
Back at the Evergreen Estate.
Cedric informed you, "The debt you have to pay is 3 million." You requested him to find out everything about the debt, unwilling to rely solely on Bucky, as you suspected he wasn't giving you the complete picture.
Lighting a cigar, you took a few puffs in silence as Cedric continued. "The first 4 million already got paid with the building that Bucky used as his club."
Your eyebrows shot up in surprise. "That place used to be Rupert's?" Bucky's mention of Rupert profiting suddenly made sense.
Cedric confirmed with a nod. "With 5 jobs done with Barnes, you have completed 2. That means only 3 are left."
Leaning back in your leather chair, you tapped your fingers thoughtfully. "I don't want to finish the rest. I'll just give him the money. But I also don't want to use the money from savings."
Understanding your dilemma, Cedric pondered briefly before suggesting, "Selling the assets will take a while since the deadline to pay the debts is near. What about selling an artwork?"
His suggestion lightened your burden slightly. Exhaling a cloud of smoke, you inquired, "What artwork does Rupert have?"
Cedric's response was impressive. "One of a kind. One original artworks by DaVinci, Monet, and Van Gogh. One painting is worth more than 1 million pounds."
You nodded in agreement. "Good. Sell those. But will the transaction be quick?"
Confidently, Cedric nodded. "I know some people."
"Then, get all you need. You can have 10% from each artwork," you decided, showing trust in his abilities.
Cedric hesitated, "Your Grace, are you sure you want to let go of the paintings?"
You shrugged, unaffected. "I do explosions for a living, Cedric. I don't have the sentiment to admire a painting."
With a bow of his head, Cedric accepted your decision and left.
As you watched him depart, you felt a weight lift from your shoulders. At least tonight, you could block any calls from Bucky.
##########
For two days, you relished in the tranquility of the countryside, finally having the chance to appreciate the simple joys of life. Breakfast with tea, a luxury you never had time for in your military days, now became a cherished routine as the head of the household.
But your peace was shattered when your mother, Susan, entered with a gloomy expression. “I saw some paintings taken down from the wall. Do you know the reason why, my dear?”
You remained focused on your newspaper, not bothering to look up. “I sold them.”
Susan’s eyes widened in disbelief. “What? Why would you do that? Those masterpieces have adorned this house for years.”
Without lifting your gaze, you replied curtly, “So you’re more concerned about the paintings than paying off our debt?”
A heavy silence filled the room.
Flipping the newspaper page, you continued, “I’m the head of this household now, and I have full rights to do as I please, Mother. I refuse to be burdened by debts while you stand idly by.”
You added, a hint of frustration in your tone, “It’s better to sell the paintings than to risk losing the house, don’t you think?”
Susan gasped, taken aback by your audacity. She turned on her heels and stormed out of the room.
The tension lingered in the air, but you remained resolute in your decision, knowing it was necessary for your family's survival.
While the butler of the house remained stoic, devoid of any emotion like you, he asked, “Do you want a cup of coffee, Your Grace?”
You replied, “Yes, please. That would be great.”
The bitterness of the coffee offered a temporary escape from the turmoil caused by your childish mother.
But it seemed the universe had other plans, denying you the chance to find peace. You heard a familiar voice, the harbinger of your nightmares. “Make it two, please.”
Bucky entered with his usual high energy, greeting, “Good morning.”
Without awaiting your permission, he took a seat beside you. “So, last night someone came to my club and brought a briefcase with 3 million pounds inside. It's to pay off Rupert’s debt.”
You took a sip of the coffee. “Yes, that means our association has ended.”
Bucky's expression softened. “First of all, thank you for settling the debt on time. But it pains me to lose a friend.”
You retorted, “Find another one.”
Bucky sighed. “Don't want to. You're one of a kind.”
You acknowledged his compliment but remained firm. “I appreciate your words, but I have no desire to utilize my expertise in such a manner again.”
Bucky nodded understandingly. “Alright, I understand. But I don't want our friendship to end. And we're also business partners.”
He raised his coffee cup, proposing a toast. “To our new beginning.”
You pushed aside your coffee cup, the porcelain clinking against the saucer, echoing the heavy tension in the room. Every visit from Bucky seemed to herald trouble, and today was no exception. "Every time you come here, you bring bad news."
Bucky shrugged nonchalantly, but there was an underlying tension in his posture, a sense of unease that matched your own. "Not this time," he insisted, but his words did little to assuage the growing apprehension in the air.
"Hmm." Your response was clipped, your mind already racing with dread-filled possibilities.
'Ring.' It was Eddie.
The sudden intrusion of the ringing phone shattered the fragile calm, jolting you and Bucky out of your uneasy silence. You answered, your hand trembling ever so slightly. "Hello?"
"I've got bad news."
The words from Eddie on the other end of the line felt like a confirmation of your worst fears. The room seemed to constrict around you, the air growing heavy with tension.
"What is it?" Your voice wavered slightly, betraying the anxiety that clenched at your chest.
"Charles. He got into a problem with the wrong people."
Your heart sank. The implications of Eddie's words hit you like a physical blow, sending a shiver of fear down your spine.
"How bad is it?" You struggled to maintain composure, but the panic threatened to overwhelm you.
"He's tangled up with a cocaine syndicate."
"Oh no." The words escaped your lips in a hushed whisper, laden with fear and dread.

What does River (your Lackadaisy OC) do for a living (since he has cut ties to his assasination jobs)? I know that he draws but is it wrong to assume that he had just started the skill as a hobby and is not a professional career artist?
TL:DR what would he say if a normal person asked what he does for a living?
He'd be quick to tell you that he just draws if you asked. As for his drawing skills? You could say he's a bit below Tracy (maybe, I hope). He's been into drawing since childhood, usually sketching to illustrate Rocky's scientific discovery. And even after his mom banned him from hanging out with Rocky, he'd still be in his room drawing, reminiscing about their past adventures.
Even when he was doing the whole assassin gig, he still drew, just not as much. He needed something to ease his mind after taking someone's life.
Riggy definitely knew about this and decided to tease River about it. "Killer's hands can't bring art to life," he'd say, but seeing River's dedication, Riggy ended up being more supportive as time went on. That's why they got close (you wouldn't believe how Riggy's room is filled with his drawings)
Once he retired, he started focusing more on drawing. Of course, it wouldn't be enough to support himself, especially since he can only draw with a pencil, nothing extraordinary like DaVinci; he's not even close to Louis Lozowick.
But luckily for River, his mom, who's a tailor, sometimes gives him some money. And if he's strapped for cash, he just has to swing by Little Daisy Cafe, and they'll hook him up with free pancakes~~

If anyone wants to join MCNN for the looming 5th Life season, hit us up at @minecraftnewsnetwork
In light of recent cryptic Grian-posting, it looks like this series will happen sooner than expected!
We can always use more help with:
Administration and project management
Taking notes
Writing scripts
Recording in-game reports
Downloading clips
Creating art/ visual assets
Editing video
Even if you can only do some of those, or one of those, all help is good help! Our main requests are that you be up front about what you can do, and let us know as soon as possible if your availability changes.
Our account here at @minecraftnewsnetwork is a shared account between Lead Reporters @pixiemage, @the-joju-experience, @fearforthestorm, and @salemoleander. Feel free to send an Ask directly to the main MCNN account for Discord details, or Message any of us on our personal accounts if you have questions.
Please note: We cannot guarantee that we will accept everyone who requests to join - we could get 2 requests or 200, and at some point that's too many cooks in the kitchen. Requests will largely be first-come, first-served, with some exceptions/prioritization made for those with video recording and editing experience.
FAQs
What the heck is MCNN?
A fan-created, scripted video series that seeks to summarize and report on the events that occurred across every POV in the Life Series that week. We started with Limited Life, and now I guess it's time for our second rodeo. This is our YouTube channel.
Do I have to have experience in [Video Editing]/[Script Writing]/etc to sign up for it?
Not at all! Everyone is welcome to sign up for whatever roles they want to do. We do like to aim for a certain level of quality in what we make, so if you aren't very far along in your creative journey with that medium please make sure you're prepared to receive peer feedback and edit suggestions!
I'm a minor! Can I help?
We do allow people under 18 to help, yes! Limiting who gets to help on a fan project about a ~PG video series seems nonsensical; especially when many of the adults in MCNN got their Minecraft start well before they turned 18, and it sparked a longstanding creative interest. However: School, family, and your overall wellbeing come first. If at any time the project seems to be conflicting with those priorities, you will be asked to step back for the remainder of the season.
What applications/tools do you use?
We use Google Sheets to write timecoded video notes, Google Docs to draft and work together on scripts, a mixture of ReplayMod and OBS to record in-game reports, and DaVinci Resolve to edit video. All of these tools are free to use, and we are able to walk through settings and basics with you if you're unfamiliar with any of these.
Do you make money from this? What do I get from helping?
\We are not monetized, and have no intention of monetizing or turning on ads. This is a fan-created show, made for the love of creation and celebrating a series we like. We are all unpaid interns, here at MCNN. :D That said - this is a 2+ month project involving project management, editing, writing, and other real-world technical & professional skills. If you participate and want help adding this to your resume, or need a letter of recommendation for a job or school organization/event, we are happy to assist with that!

Not an OC question but more a Producer question:
Is there any video editing programs you recommend for making PVS for songs?
i'm learning how to use after effects (which is different than your usual video editing program) currently, so if you wanna make more robust and detailed pvs its a good thing to learn, otherwise premiere is good! though obv... if u can avoid it.... don't give adobe your money ;) if you dont know how to Not Give Money to Adobe... some other ones are davinci resolve or wondershare filmora if you want something free/cheap to get the hang of video editing itself because a lot of video editing programs tend to follow a similar layout/concept, but note that davinci in particular is- while good- really buggy lol

On October 13th 1307 hundreds of Knights Templar in France were simultaneously arrested by agents of the King of France Phillip the Fair, to be later tortured into a “confession” of heresy.
Legend has it that following this many of the survivors fled to Scotland with their Holy Treasures salvaged from France.
The Knights Templar presence in Scotland began in 1129 after King Henry I of England arranged and introduction of the Templar founder Hugh de Payens to our king  David I.  The meeting was a success and the Knights Templar were given a parcel of land seven miles south of Edinburgh that became known as ‘Balantrodoch’.
The Knights Templar have often been portrayed as fierce warrior monks, “soldiers of Christ” on crusade. But the Templars were not only warriors. There were also monks, businessmen, landlords, bankers, and money lenders. They have proved a source of fascination over the years, and have inspired mystical tales of the Holy Grail, Ark of the Covenant, the Shroud of Turin, and are featured in numerous works of fiction and fantasy.
Following the dissolution of the Templars in 1307, all Templar property passed into the hands of the Knights Hospitaller of the Order of St John. Ballandtrodoch took on the name of Temple in the 1500s, a reminder of its origins. By the 1600s the former preceptory had become the parish church and served as such until it was finally abandoned for a new church in the 1830s. The remains of the old building can still be seen, today, though modified from the original Templar church, and the town of Temple stands around it.
You might recall pics and info on the Knights Hospitaller of the Order of St John at Torphichen Preceptory on a visit I made in 2018 and also the St John's Cross which is on the Canongate, Royal Mile Edinburgh, marking where they held land in the area.
According to local legend Templar treasure from Paris was hidden at Ballandtrodoch. "Twixt the oak and the elm tree/You will find buried the millions free.”
Further afield a Templar’s House once stood near the site of what is now the Turriff town hall, on land granted to the Knights Templar in the mid-twelfth century. Little is known of this House, and the original structure is lost. The Knights Hospitallers built a structure, possibly a hotel, on the site around 1512 which stood until 1845. This structure passed at some point into the hands of the Rainie family, and subsequently became known as Castle Rainy.    Today a forested area known as Temple Brae stands nearby.
The town of Darvel in the parish of Loundoun, located some twenty miles south of Glasgow, holds a claim to fame as the birthplace of Sir Alexander Fleming, the man who discovered penicillin. Long before Flemming, sometime in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, the lands of Darvel belonged to the Knights Templar, and rents were diverted from the Crown to the Templars. These lands apparently remained independent for many centuries after the fall of the Templars, as remarked upon by Samuel Lewis in his Topographical Dictionary of Scotland (1846): “DARVEL, a village, in the parish of Loudoun…This is a considerable place, and it would seem that several lands here formerly belonged to the Knights Templars, as many of them still bear the name of Temple, and do not hold of any superior, not even of the crown."
Today several farms stand as reminders of the areas’ Templar past with names such as Templehouse, Temple Darvel, Templehiil, Temple Dalquharn, Temple Croft, and Temple Dalquharn.
And then of course, most famous of all is  Rosslyn Chapel, thrust into the spotlight for its supposed mysterious connections with the Knights Templar with the popularity of The Novel and film, The DaVinci Codes.
The legend Holy Grail was hidden here by the Templars still persists today. The chapel itself was built 150 after the Templars were dissolved, but a number of the buildings’ elaborate carvings have been identified by some as Templar symbols, inviting much intrigue and speculation. A common theory is that the Templars survived by founding the new order of Free Masons, and under this guise, their ancestors made these carvings. One gargoyle depicts a knight clutching a chalice, which has been pointed to as a clue that the Grail was hidden here.  Though much work has been done debunking these myths and legends, these stories persist in the popular imagination.
Finally there is Kilwinning Abbey, like Rosslyn Chapel it  has been associated with legends of the Knights Templar. It has been said that the Templars first sought refuge here when they fled France following the events of 1307, bringing with them the famed Templar treasures, including the Holy Grail, and burying them under the Abbey. Kilwinning has also been associated with Mount Heredom, the birthplace of the Free Masons.
Read more about the connections and the village of Temple here http://www.templevillage.org.uk/temple/history2.html

Overview of Pottersville, Sims 3 World
Just for fun (and to learn Da Vinci Resolve), I put out this aerial tour of Pottersville. Here, you'll see a complete view of the town with annotations of where all the families live, as well as the names of the subhoods.
Backstory to all this: one of the reasons why I wasn't as active on YouTube as before the pandemic was that on top of everything going to 💩 in real life and the WIP having so many bugs, I lost access to Serif MoviePlus.
Tumblr media
MoviePlus was my video editing workhouse for years. Then Serif became Affinity and MoviePlus became completely crippled after years of customers having spent so money on it in. (And you thought EA was bad! 🤣) I was so demoralized; it just seemed as if everything that could go wrong with my personal life and simming career did in 2020.
After shopping around for various video editors, I stumbled across DaVinci Resolve. It's kind of a pain in the neck (it has a steep learning curve and can't import .avis from TS3 directly), but I'm finally getting the hang of it. I'd eventually like to get something more professional, but I'm poor as a churchmouse right now so I'm stuck with open source software for now. In any event, look forward to more videos after all these years.
P.S.: If you're interested in downloading Pottersville, learn more here!

*checks email, sees paypal receipt*
me: ~Oh no!~ Who is spending my money?
Me. It's me. I bought Ooblets (finally on Steam!) and House of DaVinci 3 (a puzzle game).
My birthday's tomorrow. I've been busy enough lately in my offline life that I keep forgetting to post updates here. Went on a train ride yesterday. Bought a nail that says "69" on the head. Dad gave me a dirty look. "I can still be a goofy teenager. I'm old enough!" It was literally $2, and it goes to a good cause.
I also knit 3 small pumpkins yesterday and started a 4th before I got home.
Oh and the power steering on the truck is bad, so dad's gonna have to drive me to the library today. Lots of excitement!

i managed to finish my first animation project YIPPEEE
originally i was going to use motion data from other creators and edit it into this project in a way that would match the song but after finding out a creators updated terms stating they wish for their data not to be used for other songs that they are not meant to (for example if they animated a world is mine dance, don't use it for any other song unless it's world is mine)
i figure i just fill in and edit everything with my ideas instead then at that point and animate whatever i could. also the parts that were from other creators were so small that i might as well just do it all myself anyways. yaaaay for being able to say that it's animated all by me
i will say... wish i could animate more dynamic things because not gonna lie... for this animation i feel like i relied too much on still images and also it's a lot of just lipsyncing scenes. which is fine because i know that there's a lot of animations like that for songs and also im inspired by project diva anyways so i hope you can also see that influence on this video too (amongst other things that have inspired me hehe)... maybe i'm just being too hard on myself because i'm just one person anyways and also... not like i have the money Or the space to do motion capture so.
also... the new codec and the plugin i use for aviutl so that way my animations can be edited works! there's a few render export issues i have on certain scenes though but at least it's nowhere near as bad as my calc thing (still feel like re-rendering and reuploading that one...) not sure if i have to play around with render settings *dies*
and speaking of these programs.... i really regret updating davinci resolve.... and i hate how it handles the transitions as well. i wish i could have added more for this one but the way davinci works is that it wants more frames in order for it to transition but i find that so stupid... there's also a text box effect animation i find useful but if you include it, it won't render it so you have to convert it as a compound clip like why... i wish they'd address these issues because i learned these have been around for a while now!! i wonder if i should try finding another program
well anyways. i think i'll be making some final edits on my miku model. i'll be releasing the animation next month on my youtube, so i hope to see everyone there... thanks for reading :3

my room smells nice and I'm in there with the door closed because my parents are home after a week of breathing room and the first thing my dad does is ask "how was work" and what do I do, just lie to him? he'll find out because I have no experience lying, I say I got three hours of sleep and called out of work, which is true but he makes me feel so guilty about it that I somehow believe I'm lying anyway.
I'm lazing around on my computer. yeah. lazing around. watching intensive tutorial videos on how to edit that teach me more than any fucking college course I've taken yet, getting paid to subtitle, getting paid to write, cutting down videos that don't make me money now because someday they might make me money, because I HAVE to monetize the things that bring me joy or else I am slapped with guilt.
reaching out to composers (for future projects), voice-directing actors (for fan-projects), sit in the sandbox of DaVinci Resolve and toy with masks until I can make an effect for five seconds of a video. I think every single thing I've done today has been towards an eventual monetary goal.
but it's not enough, it's not enough, it's not enough because I called out of work because I got three hours of sleep and I don't have the physical energy to move my body today.
at least my room smells nice.

I haven't received a doll in a while! I have wanted this doll for a while, but she had been discontinued a long ago, so I was surprised when she was re-released! I didn't have the money when she was first released, so I made sure to snatch her up this time. I wanted both the Star and Moon, but I have already splurged on many many dolls, so I decided to just get one.
I was also surprised to get all the extras she came with! I was under the impression that the wooden box she came with cost extra, so I expected Dollzone's usual boxes.
My next doll that is coming in should be my Coral Reef Amber! I am just waiting on a tracking number.
I also tried to do my voiceover directly in Davinci Resolve, so there are no edits to my audio at all, so my voice may sound flat.

Thoughts on using ChatGPT (and the more sophisticated but money-requiring text-davinci-003) for writing help:
Got me unstuck on [place, era] slang, thank you
Is reluctant to give me cuss words though
Also got me unstuck on "what store would this person in [place, era] shop at for underwear" – it's the kind of thing I used to spend precious cycles researching inefficiently
Not good at unsticking me on plot points – probably not because it's inherently unable to come up with new patterns, but because "a good plot point" takes in a LOT of context that I don't feel like manually providing. I experimented with asking it to write me non-boilerplate code last night and had to keep specifying "that doesn't work because you haven't understood the problem". I'm sure I'd run into the thing again – endless sloops of "that doesn't work because it's inconsistent with this other thing I'm not going to change" and "that doesn't work because my intention with this emotion arc is blah blah". But even worse, because I gave it a good technical specification of the code I wanted it to write, whereas I cannot give a technical specification of what plot point I want it to generate.
