My art block is finally lifting!!! So I am here with some Duck art!! It's been a minute since I've given any of my duckies some love. But here we go with Mythica and Winona~ more info below! I'm actually really proud of this one

On the left we have Mythica DeSpell. She's sort of a shut in swamp witch. She's not particularly close with any member of the DeSpell family line currently, and prefers a more solitary existence. Though, she has gladly adopted a lost duckling recently!

On the right we have our lost little duckling, Winona Sheldgoose. (OC designed and adopted from @cinabonsticks ! Their art is fantastic, check em out!!) She has amnesia but has taken to Mythica as a mother figure.

So the scenery is Winona's first night at Mythica's home in the swamplands. Mythica is enchanting the little ones jewelry with protective magic.

I don't usually do backgrounds too much, but I am actually really happy with this one!

DT timeline from fowl (theory/headcanon)

In the early 60's Bradford was still young with a full head of hair, met and teamed up with black heron, making f.o.w.l…

Some time a little later in the mid 60's Heron tried to get the formula for gummi-berry juice, meanwhile Scrooge just joined s.h.u.s.h. as a new philanthropist, he and Beakley beat Heron, and Bradford must have just found out his partner in crime just got defeated by those two.

Scrooge's big Christmas party probably happened in the late 70's that would be a whole new decade later for him to age into the state we see him at the Christmas party where he and Scrooge apparently first met face to face.

Ludwig Van Drake got kidnapped by f.o.w.l. sometime after the 70's or at least some time after the Christmas party. If they had the stone of what was at the time and didn't lose it yet. It would be very easy to fake someone's death by just leaving a lifeless clone of that person to be found. Before being kidnapped, he still trusted Bradford enough at the time for Bradford to easily lure him somewhere to capture him.

 Later in the early 90's is when Donald and Della come to stay with Scrooge and "The First Adventure". After which Bradford becomes Scrooge's new CFO, and starts his 30 year plan to get the papyrus of binding back. 

 Then either that year or some other year after that Dewy time travels back to meet his mom and uncle as kids for Christmas.

Around 2006, Scrooge built the Spear of Selene and Bradford told Della about it, basically instigating the Spear of Selene fiasco.

Beakley attempted to shut down f.o.w.l. once and for all but finds a baby duckling who she named Webby and goes into hiding at McDuck manner. This is possibly also when f.o.w.l. lost the Stone of what was. 

Possibly after that, Bradford causes Duckworth's death, either directly or indirectly.

August 12, 2017, the triplets meet their uncle Scrooge for the first time.(DuckTales 2017 officially started)

September 23, 2017, "The great dime chance!" 

April 2018, "The Beast in the Board Room!"

July 7, 2018, Black Heron made a second attempt at recreating gummi-berry juice but was stopped by Webby. 

August 11, 2018 "the last crash of the sunchaser!" 

August 18, 2018, Magical DeSpell was released, The Shadow war happened. Then Magica lost her magic. 

September 2018, "Countdown to Termination!"

December 24, 2018, "Last Christmas!" takes place. 

 May 13, 2019, Della returned to earth and reunited with (most) of her family.

September 11, 2019, Louie became the richest duck in the world. Bradford tricked him into releasing the zombie bombie, where Louie ended up cutting the funding to McDuck's satellites before giving the wealth back to scrooge.

September 12, 2019, The Moonvasion happened. And after that ended f.o.w.l. came back "from the shadows". 

April 4, 2020, the ducks found the lost journal of Isabella Finch. And f.o.w.l. was watching them.

April 4, 2020, "Quack Pack!" the ducks found the lamp of Alli Babah.

April 11, 2020, "Double-O-Duck in you only crash twice" the Intelli-ray was invented using the Third Eye Diamond.

April 18, 2020, The lost Harp of Mervana was found.

 September 21, 2020, "The Phantom and the Sorceress", Magica got her magic back.

 October 12, 2020, The Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades was found by the ducks.

October 19, 2020, "Let's Get Dangerous!" Bradford got outed as the leader of f.o.w.l.

October 26, 2020, Bradford distracts the Ducks as f.o.w.l. steals all the missing mysteries that were found.

November 2, 2020, the split sword of Swanstantine was recovered by the ducks from f.o.w.l.

November 23, 2020, the blessed bagpipes of clan McDuck was recovered by the Ducks.

March 1, 2021, The Ducks recovered the stone of what was, but f.o.w.l. was able to get back a piece of it.

 March 15, 2021, the events of "The Last Adventure" Happened happened. f.o.w.l. was defeated and Bradford got turned into a feral vulture by Magica.

Before anyone says a thing, yes this is a semi-crossover oc. The original magic from the show, the titans, and the name and Crest of the Casterwill family branch (pictured below) belong to all companies involved with the show Huntik: Secrets and Seekers. If I could have found a better crest that seemed arcane yet tribal in nature I'd have used that one instead

Now then as for slight background story, the Casterwill family of this universe are ducks (mostly now but originally was all ducks) which had 7 total families. The family defacto leaders and it's namesake and most powerful mages the Casterwills, the would be exiled and one day restored to a seat; the DeSpells, the warrior mages known as the Steelvein, the noble illusionists of the Flarehearts tended to mingle in royal circles to keep knowledge of magic to a low for true power of magic is dangerous in the wrong hands, the healers known as the Shadewind family, the oracles of the Seer Clan, and finally the upper class adventurers and masters of luck magic known as the Ebonbeaks. Below are all the current generation has to offer as far as they know since the families have been nearly wiped out. Leaving them and possibly others to wander the land as nomads on one mission to protect the world at all costs. Of course, the DeSpells were a large force to keep in check which is what's taken the largest amount of power and subsequently lives on both ends.

Each has many a story to be told. Of course if you'd like to be involved in helping form the families to become larger please dm this blog as we go into details. Same if you wish to make art for the blog to help it visualize the stories (as I'm gonna write it as a script style storyline but need to figure out what I'll do for that at first) then again dm me here on this blog. PRESENT !!

sadie is here for one reason and one reason only; her brothers. the teagues are thick as thieves -- literally -- and no one is able to come between them. it’s hard to seperate people that bonded through trauma; first the wounds inflicted by their father, then by orion bartholomew. they stepped from the frying pan into the fire when it came to father figures. they had to hold onto each other, and due to their shared experiences, anyone on the outside was mistrusted immediately. in elias, this lack of trust in anyone but themselves is still very much present. sadie is a firm believer in not needing anyone else, in being fine with just the three of them, and anyone willing to take away her brothers is seen as a threat. without their mother, sadie stepped into the maternal role, trying to take care of logan and beckham as best as she can, but it’s pretty clear that she’s nowhere near ready to do so. from messed up meals saved by takeout and ordering in, to messily stitched up wounds that get infected easily because she did not clean them thoroughly enough.

she’s taken two jobs to support herself, was fired from one and is threatening to get fired from the other. turns out that customer service is not her strong point, but she can get away with more as a bartender than she could as a waitress. but what does she have to put on her resumé? dabbling in the occult, being a professional cat lady, terrorising children with scary masks even when it’s not halloween? she had to face the facts and realise that she had little to nothing to offer the world outside of hallow falls. she could no longer rely on her family to put bread on the table, so she took the first few jobs she found. but waitressing was not it (apparently, telling a customer to fuck off and get a life in response to ‘can i talk to your manager’ was not appropriate in a restaurant setting), and bartending is difficult. so she found something she was good at. 

the escort life isn’t glamorous, not in the slightest, but it pays. enough to feed the three of them, enough to have a little place to receive her clients, enough to be able to stop worrying about whether their electricity or water supply will be turned off next. so no, she’s not happy, but she’s satisfied, and that’s what matters. she has her cat (that she definitely did not reanimate after his death and restore to life. definitely not. he’s just old, it’s just a silly rumor), her books and her brothers. they’re all she needs.

PAST !!

sadie, like her two brothers, was born to carrie teague, a human, and jason teague, a demon. of course, she’d only had one brother at the time, as she came after beckham and logan came after her, but of their parentage there was no doubt. from birth, it was firmly established that the three of them could not simply be fully human. their mother was too kind, too angelic, to wonderful to have spawned those three menaces with another man, and their father was too terrible, too disgusting, too brutal to have birthed those three children with a sliver of goodness in their heart on his own. no one bothered to tell the three of them, though. so they remained in the dark, believing their mistakes were their own fault rather than their father’s.

just like her brothers, sadie had great potential. her powers manifested early on; she felt most comfortable near graveyards, talking to her friends that people around her (even in hallow falls) deemed imaginary, with a good book, her cat, and her army of ghosts. at first, they just talked to her, nudged her in the right direction and demanded a listening ear. but as she grew older, she started to refuse to listen. rebellious teenagers had problems with authority figures, and sadie was no different. whenever a ghost tried to demand something from her -- a way to help them move on, to use her as a vessel, to let their story be heard -- she refused, and it took its toll on her. she needed to be in control, but they wouldn’t let her, and whenever she lost focus for a moment, they appeared, and became visible to all, not just sadie. she’d been using her powers to keep them at bay and to protect other people from them, but it was getting harder and harder. the beings from the other side were demanding, and were now out for revenge. still, if she focused, if she stayed in control, things were fine.

actually, things were most definitely not fine. from a childhood spent hiding from an angry father and gravitating naturally towards her mother’s arms for comfort, towards the kind bookseller’s shop with little nooks to hide with her cat, to teenage years spent anxiously patching up her wounds -- and her brothers’, running away from home more times than she could count -- and always coming back for the other members of her family, to adolescence following her brothers around to a new town with new people to terrify and terrorise, to safely explore her options when it comes to her powers. but maybe that’s not what she wants anymore -- though a lifetime of sin is hard to unlearn, especially if she’s not sure what she wants.

FUTURE !!

since she dropped out of high school, walt university hasn’t been an option for sadie. elias is a place to run away to, not to settle down and have a life. but that’s what’s currently happening, as her brothers seem to have found their place and they don’t seem very hell-bent on leaving anytime soon. she’s here because of them, and because of her mother’s explicit wishes. 

so maybe she finds a reason or two to stay. a purpose, a desire. she’s a blank slate with a disturbing past, and will do anything to make sure her future is as far from bleak and blank as possible. she doesn’t have the best reputation, despite her best efforts to control it, but has no problem lying and cheating her way back into people’s good graces. needless to say, that doesn’t always work.

“ as much as i love being back at school, i have to say, i miss greece already, ”  harry greets his pseudo-cousin with a sigh, plopping down on the bench next to them and leaning back onto his hands. greece was one of the last stops on their little summer escapade, and the views of the grecian landscape have been embedded in his mind ever since. it was nice to spend some time away from everything, to attempt to clear his mind without responsibilities, to focus on himself and spending time with his family rather than the worries that linger in the back of his mind. traveling with alphie and sirius had been cathartic, their presence more comforting than harry could ever express, and even now he finds himself seeking out his cousin for that same sense of comfort, the wix seeming to understand him better than he does himself at times.

D’aw, thank you! Your compliments are really nice to hear. I wouldn’t say that I’m much of a writer, but if any of my writings appeal to someone, then it makes it worth it.

But regarding the question: Yes. Perhaps not as crazy as other people’s, but I have my fair share of head-canons about her. They don’t necessarily apply to one version of Magica over the other, rather, to all of her versions. So without further ado:

1) She mostly speaks English (with a british accent, even) to out-british Scrooge. She still speaks italian, but when trying to one-up your mortal enemy at every possible turn, she’d do anything, no matter how petty or unnecessary it may be. Poe’s her only remaining family member who speaks English with her to both train her and himself, even if he obliges because she wouldn’t accept anything otherwise.

2) A powerful sorceress herself, she often suffers from linking her powers to powerful/mystical objects (See: The Shadow War.), losing them afterwards. While it’s never as severe as what happens in Ducktales 2017, it’s always rather humiliating whenever it happens.

3) Born during a prosperous era, Magica was often the most spoiled of The DeSpell new generation. She was expected to be a new dark sorceress, and it was how it happened.

4) Her entire family tree is full of villains and other morally ambiguous people. It runs in the family, and she only picked up the torch where it was left.

5) I go off the notion that magic helps lengthen one to live a bit longer than your every day person, so I often think she’s born around 1910. Living atop Mount Vesuvius with the rest of her family helped her not really feel The Great War or World War two, though some of her family members got conscripted into the armies of whatever territory they were on.

6) Speaking of which, she does love the little home she has atop the Mount. It’s quite the pleasant place to live, though she had to cut off some of its compartments throughout the years as it fell apart. Naples is a nice city, but she never appreciated the city-life. Only its amenities, as such, she steals her electricity cables, her water pipes, Internet cables and anything else that has bills from down there. She has other bills to pay as a witch, but these ones are out of her life.

7) She’s not really ‘hip’ with the new Tech of this day and age, despite the fact that she’s one of the youngest witches around. Her never-ending quests for glory often put her out of the loop for a couple of years.

8) This isn‘t really a head-canon, more like obscure canon, but she adores football. She’s the number one fan of the Italian team, and she stops all her activities during the World Cup. She’s still salty about the last few ones.

9) She’s not the greatest when it comes to home chores. She often prefers magic to manual labor, but sometimes magical dust or stains require this manual labor. She’s also not the greatest cook around and often depends on Poe, her brother, to help her out with that, even if she can do some of it on her own.

10) Despite her cold, hard exterior....she’s also pretty cold on the inside. But she has a heart. She cares for her family (some members, anyways,), her spells, and winning.

11) Speaking of which, she does actually win!....Whenever Scroogie isn’t around. Retrieving ancient artifacts, destroying other enemies, you name it. She’s a competent sorceress, and if it wasn’t for Scrooge’s perseverance and experience, I’m not certain he would’ve stood against her for long.

12) She had a sort of dream-team with Poe when he wasn’t a raven. He was far more physical than her, and she was better at spells than he was. He used the physical side of magic while she was on the more mentally exhausting parts. Though he did dabble in bits and pieces even she doesn’t touch...

13)...That was, of course, until he became a raven. A battle-gone-wrong and a spell that was supposed to hit a blank ricocheted off a mirror and hit him and, much to both their horror,  she couldn’t go back on it. The closest remaining family member she had and she turned him into a raven. It’s a rather sensitive part of their relationship, and she didn’t forgive herself for it.

14) Both as a result of no longer having Poe be the hitting force of the duo and because of her adventures, she’s rather athletic for a supposed fragile sorceress, if her ability to square with Donald when he’s enraged and then draw is anything to go by.

15) She’s an avid fan of Ducktor Who. Ever since she discovered it in the 60s and up until now, she’s been watching every new episode. First as something to get her mind off of any sort of failure that might’ve befallen her, it’s now something she actually enjoys and sets up an entire movie night for.

16) She’s also a big fan of fashion. Not all the time, obviously, but she has a sort of style, even if she’s often too busy plotting to notice if she’s wearing socks with sandals or other such horrors.

17) She cannot drive cars to save her life, literally. Boats? Sure, some training and a sunken yacht in the Pacific later, but she can do it. Planes? She can keep them in the air. Cars? Nope.Not a chance. If it doesn’t explode, every car she drives is a likely target for bumps, scratches, and complete and utter pulverisation. Luckily, she has magic by her side, but it ruined a good plan on more than one occasion.

18) She’s a pretty good reader. You need to be one when all of the world’s spells are scattered throughout thousands of pages.

19) She’s not really the social type. She has some friends here and there, but disregarding her family, she mostly works alone. It’s not that she can’t do it, more than she can’t be bothered to do it. Too much time spent for too little. Who cares if people found her weird? She only needed her new raven assistant to go shopping.

20) Despite everything that may appear, she’s still at heart Magica DeSpell. Queen of Naples, Guardian of the Forbidden Spells, Creator Of Untrue Titles, you say it. She’s a threat that none should have to face, and she can demonstrate why with her fist before her spells.

Magica DeSpell and Scrooge McDuck Fan Theory...

So I watched both the original “Ducktales” as a kid so it makes sense that I watch the new version of “Ducktales” on Disney today. I must say that I like the new one. Not as much as the original but it is good. So I have a theory as to the the feud between Magica and Scrooge. As the show states that there is a family blood feud that goes back centuries. But if you watch carefully there are signs between the lines of their relationship. Like the fact that she calls him “Scroogie”. I think that when they were kids together and met up in secret while their parents fought. They would roam the Scottish/English country side and Magica would show him magic tricks that she had learned and they would play with Whiskers together. Things however changed when Scrooge learned the value of hard work and earned his “Number One Dime”. It states in the show that Scrooge learned the lesson of self reliance “A little too well” and his family rarely saw him after that. This would be true with Magica as well. He would always be working and no longer had time for Magica or her magic. This would lead to an arguement between them where Scrooge calls her magic as nothing more than an easy out without actually working hard for what she had. This hurt Magica to where she saw her families side of the blood feud and Scrooge would leave for the America’s to find his fortune. And as to the reason she is obsessed with the dime. That dime changed her friend into her enemy. She saw it as something that destroyed her childhood life so she would take away the thing that gave Scrooge confidence and “luck”. I mean yes I know this is a stretch but the shoe does state that the grudge and feud is unknown in origin.

Family + Ducktales

Ducktales is such a great show for family, both the blood relationships and the found-family. For instance, the triplets are an inseparable force, and oftentimes Webby is right beside them. Even though she’s not blood to them she’s still family and they show that through several episodes. The ending to ���Casefiles of Agent 22” and “Game Night” are a few examples that come to mind.

I also appreciate that none of the families in Ducktales are the nuclear, “normal” structure. A straight couple and their two or three kids? I can watch that in a ton of shows. But the dynamics of M’ma Cabrera and Fenton, or Mrs Beakley and Webby? There’s something spectacular about the varying kinds of family in this show.

One specific group I think of is Scrooge, Donald, and Della. The twins, for whatever reason, came to live with this grouchy old guy who uses the same teabag for a month. Then they go on adventures across the world, hunting down treasures and meeting so many people. Then the entire Della thing happens, and Scrooge loses not only the girl he raised, but Donald AND the yet-to-hatch triplets. Watching them come back together was a beautiful roller-coaster of a story, even during the devastating season finale events. And Della is still yet to see her brother again! Their dynamic together has barely been seen onscreen and it’s one of my favorites.

A second group I was thinking about is team magic. Violet has two dads, though we’ve yet to see them. Lena was “raised” by her shadow aunt. And Webby grew up locked in the mansion with her grandmother. We know almost NOTHING about their pasts or families, outside of Webby’s story with the boys and Scrooge. And they form a tight-knit group through a single sleepover adventure. I’m excited to see where their sisterhood will go.

On the personal side of things, my family isn’t close at all. I have half siblings I don’t talk to, cousins I’ve never even met. I guess that’s why I like this show so much; every story involves brothers or cousins or a mother and her kids. I’ve yet to find another show that puts family above so much else.

I’m super excited to see what comes next. I’m sure we’ll see more of Della and the boys. What else could they have in store for us?!

Violet (physically taking notes of all the things Lena’s magic reacts badly to)

Violet “Maybe we (mainly Lena and Webby) should just stop having sleepovers.” Webby “Maybe you should rethink that sentence.” Violet (smiles serenely as Lena steps in to save her from vanishing into a 6ft deep hole somewhere on the manor grounds)

Violet “Greetings new friend. I brought pie. What Do You Know About Shadow Magic And Evil Sorceresses.”

Violet (uses artifact of magic to blast something) (Beams with glee)

Violet “The fact that we are in competition for something I have deeply desired to achieve after years of failure does not mean I am willing to abandon the core principles which makes this achievement special to me.” Violet “Which is to say, of course I will help you. That is what being a Woodchuck is all about.” Violet “… loser.”

Violet (does not know how to talk smack) (happily if awkwardly embraces Lena’s lessons on it)

Violet (helps Lena give May and June their new friendship bracelets at the end of the show) (May and June aka the ones who sparked Webby and Lena's first real fight and fall out, where Lena again reacted very badly to the idea of anyone getting between her and Webby, aka something Violet has seen her struggle with and overcome before)

Violet (Doesn’t hold Lena’s bad initial reaction to Webby having a new friend against her, helps Lena save Webby using their friendship for her, is sad when Lena appears to be sacrificing herself *again* for her friend, is so happy to be included in their friendship, is the final link that allows the friendship magic to bring Lena back from the Shadow Realm)

Violet (casually twirls Magica's magical pendent around on her finger while Webby gives Lena a pep talk and Magica stands there with her sad little stick)

Lena presumably “So… we’ve got some costume makeup. Wanna have me make it look like your face is melting off?” Violet (internally probably) “My sister now.”

------conclusion-----

Violet's a great foil for both Webby and Lena (and them for her).

Her and Webby are both nerds, big on languages, numbers, sifting through small details to make larger connections, uncovering mysteries- But Webby's in it for the joy of discovery, while Violet has a need to understand and process new information so it can be put to use (her notes on Lena's magic, her proactive research into the amulet she found)

Her and Webby are physically active in their own ways, Webby has her combat skills, her spy training, which is either just normal for her because of her Granny or comes from her hero worship of Scrooge and his adventures. Violet is a Woodchuck, practicing practical and survival skills, but she values being a Woodchuck also for the self-improvement and community it offers, and is not daunted by her own long stretch of failing to become senior Woodchuck.

Her and Webby are socially awkward or out of touch sometimes, but for Webby that means awkward laughter, blurting things out without meaning to or without noticing how odd it could sound, and constantly wondering if she's missing out on the joke or not hearing the sarcasm in something. For Violet it means being bluntly straightforward with things someone else might have eased into and not showing a hint of nervousness about it, never hesitating to point out the inconvenient facts about a situation, and being aware of her lack of knowledge about some social things but mostly in a way that leaves her curious to learn how to mimic them properly

When it comes to Lena, there's the magical shadow person sorceress who lived her whole life with magic and resents how much trouble it's caused her and her friends so much she sometimes wished she could throw it away- but later started taking pride in it when she could share it WITH her friends and use it to help them... and there's the perfectly mundane person studying perfectly mundane things who suddenly finds out magic is real and embraces it completely, but chooses to seek more knowledge of it WITH other people and use it to find friends and even a new family member.

And look, someone who got a failure badge and still didn't give up has a lot in common with the girl who keeps failing to be the friend she thinks Webby deserves but never wants to stop TRYING to get better at being.

Violet is very cool. Somewhat scary. She looks like the reasonable one but she’s just as (if not more) recklessly adventurous as Webby. She cares a lot and I love her.
