This is what the Dungeon Master's Hideout is for, right?
Lol that Warden is looking on in concern. Like "Boss? You good?" XD
This is what Tango does when he's tired after a long day of administering the game, lie face-first in the snow and blast music XD
Shout out to @viriv for grabbing me some screenshots of Tango's storage room for this that I didn't end up using because I remembered the hideout existed, and shoutout to @infernafiresword for putting up with me getting delirious and frustrated while I made this because I don't art good and angles are hard

Too Many Tangos? Sounds like a good problem to have if you ask me!
I'm still trying to figure out how I want to draw this guy :3 Everyone is so creative!!! I don't have a solid sense of art style and BOY this sure is a tricky balancing act between "creature" and "just-some-guy." So while exploring, I decided to just draw a bunch of other folks' designs for him! These aren’t all 1:1 copies but I loved exploring everyone’s ideas and adapting them to the way I draw :D
I wasn't able to include all the designs I wanted to. I really wanted to throw some deepfrost tangos in here, but that would have drawing multiple per-person (and I already feel like I didn't include enough people). My little wrists can only handle so much ;n; maybe one day I'll do a sequel and/or deepfrost version!!
Everyone's Tumblrs: Koji @kojitheopossum, Leo @l3o-draws, Fence @fence-time, Yago @wasyago, Chiffon @horrormoviez, Danny @beefonts, Soy @tigerbaulm, Doody @kitsuneisi, Eydi @eydilily, and Mel @lunarcrown
there’s so much I could say about each and every one of your designs but for the sake of brevity, they are awesome! Thank you for gracing the world with these artistic endeavors :D I had a lot of fun drawing them!

Ren build guide!
OK, confession. I picked up Ren on release in 3.3, and kind of fell off building him. But when I was pulling for Pix's signature on his release, I lost the 50/50 to Ren's weapon, and I've been building him. He is SO much fun to play. Ren is a 5* cryo catalyst DPS who takes Hermitopia materials, so make sure you have Hermitopia fully unlocked.
PROS: Does HUGE damage with the right team, lax rotations, is a catalyst (yes this is a pro ok)
CONS: Huge investment time to make him viable for endgame content, best team is basically all limited characters, is cryo
Here's my guide on how to build him and what an ideal rotation would look like on his best modern team!
✦✦✦ Explaining the kit ✦✦✦
◇ Basic Attack: Ancient Art
Shoots a ranged homing ice-bolt 4 times. I've found that the homing AI on this thing is pretty accurate, even for overworld puzzles. Charged attack does an AoE.
◇ (E) Skill: Telltale Heart
Does a small amount of AoE cryo DMG and buffs Ren's charged attack. The buff can stack up to 3 times, and the skill has a short cooldown.
◇ (Q) Burst: Winter is Coming
Big AoE cryo DMG, different effects depending on how many stacks of Creeping (his skill buff) he has.
One stack: Significantly decreases Ren's stamina consumption
Two stacks: Significantly increases charged ATK DMG
Three stacks: Decreases the CD for the burst by half and increases the effective time
◇ Passives
Color of Despair: When releasing a charged ATK, releases 4 homing shots that additionally hit nearby enemies.
Blood of Angry Men: When Ren's burst buff is active and the burst is activated again, triples the buffs instead of doubling them
Luck Be With Ye: Has a chance to double talent book production and reduces the cost of crafting them
✦✦✦ Constellations ✦✦✦
C1: Decreases Ren's general stamina consumption (running, climbing, gliding, swimming, etc) when skill buff is active
C2: Charged ATKs ignore a percentage of enemies DEF
C4: Increases the DMG of the homing shots in Ren's 1st ascension passive
C6: For every 1% of Ren's CDMG above 100%, buffs his overall DMG by 5%, capping at 750% (250 CDMG)
Obviously C6 is insane, but C2 is also a good value. C6 > C2 > C1 > C4
✦✦✦ Ascension & Talent Materials ✦✦✦
◇ Drops: Ghasts
These spawn all over the world, but can be found in large clusters in the northern parts of Ention, especially close to the Grumbot Containment Site. You will need:
Sad sliver x18
Smoldering droplets x30
Ghastly tears x36
◇ Deepfrost Fragment
Dropped by the Hermitopia boss Primordial Warden. You'll need x46.
◇ Glowberries
Exclusive to Hermitopia.
◇ Community Talent Books
Mon/Thurs/Sun talent domain in Hermitopia.
◇ Poppy of Remembrance from The Iron Titan weekly boss
If you haven't done Tango's story quest, you should be able to quick access from the handbook.
✦✦✦ Artifacts & Stats ✦✦✦
4pc Lorefinder is his signature set for a good reason. A good interim set if you have the pieces is 2pc Lorefinder, 2pc Moonbase. If you're running 4pc Lorefinder, go for a CDMG circlet instead of a CR one, since the Lorefinder stacks will more than compensate for about 6-7 good CR substat rolls.
Sands: ATK%
Goblet: Cryo DMG bonus
Circlet: CR=CDMG
Substat priority: CR=CDMG > ATK% >>> EM (if running on a reverse melt team) > everything else
ER goal: 150% (120% if running with another cryo that generates particles or with Divine Rights)
He's a pretty traditional crit DPS. The suck thing about getting his artifacts is that Lorefinder is in a domain with the Ambivalence set, which is incredibly useless unless you are specifically building a character like Stress or Joey.
✦✦✦ Weapons ✦✦✦
Ok, I'm biased, but Ren's signature weapon is by far his best option. Gives charged ATK bonus, has a CDMG main stat, gives a CR bonus, and increases his DMG significantly after using his burst. Other than that, there aren't a lot of really good cryo specific catalyst weapons. R5 Destroya (3* gacha) might actually be his best comparable weapon. A lot of the catalysts we have right now are really EM reliant, and Ren is not.
✦✦✦ Talent Priority ✦✦✦
Basic ATK > Burst > Skill
9/7/7 or 9/7/8 is a fine option since his skill scaling doesn't really matter at 8 or 9. It leaps a huge amount between 9 and 10, but if you're not planning on triple crowning him, 9/7/7 works just fine.
✦✦✦ Team Comps ✦✦✦
Ren Premium DPS - Ren as the on field DPS, Grian as the off field pyro applicator and support, Scott for the cryo battery and support, and Martyn as sub-dps/sustain/swirl. This is Ren's current best team
Ren f2p DPS - Ren, Katherine, Jimmy, and a flex sustain like Netty or Cryo False. Jimmy works well as a sub-dps here since he won't steal melts from Ren but still do good DMG and buffing, and the resonance make's Katherine better and buffs Ren's DMG. False doesn't do a lot of particle generation, but the resonance is nice for Ren and she does fine as a sustain.
Ren Superconduct/phys - OK this is a stupid team, but on the new catalyst Force of Personality, Ren can do some really funny physical dmg. Run him on 2 or 4pc Reactor, swap around his goblet, have Cleo or Xisuma (or both) to enable superconduct, bring a healer that can proc FoP's passive, and watch Ren do really funny phys numbers. I ran abyss with this recently and I died badly but it was so so funny to watch him bitchslap enemies.
◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆
Hope you enjoyed the guide and give your puppy another chance! His story quest is coming soon so it's a great time to pick him up again. Thanks for reading and let me know if you try him with FoP!

Novelvember week 2
prompt: used another incorrect quote, its at the end of the fic!!
duo or ship: tango/scar (with a hint of grian as their third and various hermits in the bg) doc, cub, and impulse have dialogue!
A good old game of hide-and-seek is just what they all deserve right now. Tango had hinted at it way earlier in the season, so why not? It'll be a good time, and plenty other hermits can relax and just... enjoy some time. Sure, it's really cold around The Frozen Citadel, but you don't really notice when hiding away in an alcove with one of your partners.
OR
Tango invites a bunch of hermits to play hide-and-seek at his base, and the results are better than expected. A bit of playful teasing occurs with Scar, and plenty of kisses are shared.
ao3 link | last weeks fic
pssst... wanna see the full drawing? check here! <3
"Tango?" The tall brunett seemed to perk up at the sight of his partner, Jellie in his lap as he drew up plans for the next ride in Scarland.
Smiling, said blaze leans over his shoulder and kisses his cheek, giving Jellie a pat on the back for good measure. "Hiya! Whatcha up to?" Hands rested on the back of Scars chair, he looks over the plans with a hum.
"Hey now-" Scar gets that usual amused tone to his voice, covering the blueprint with his roughed up hands. "No peeking! Top secret park plans are happening!" He grins, eyes glinting playfully. There was that slight blue tint to them, the vex part of him always pushing for mischief.
Laughing, he nods and puts his hands up. "Alright, alright." Tango steps back, letting his partner slowly get up from the table. Slightly miffed, Jellie sits on the table instead and starts grooming behind her ear.
"So, what can I do for you, Mister Tango?" He grabs his walking cane from beside his chair, leaning on it a bit as he grins.
"Oh," the blaze says, brows raised as his voice lilts in over dramatic surprise, "I didn't know we were on such formal terms, Mister Goodtime!" Both of them are grinning, and his partner can't help but titter, trying to suppress a full laugh.
Stepping closer, he takes Scars unoccupied hand and leans down, kissing it's back in a clumsy copy of a formal greeting. Tango looks up to meet his eyes, seeing a faint blush over his amused face. "Would you honour me with your presence at this afternoon's game of Hide-and-Seek?"
Scar lightly squeezes the hand holding his, nodding along. "Why of course! Thank you for the invite, fine sir!" The vex stares him down with a delighted look, then pulls him closer and kisses his cheek. "Where's it happening?"
"The Deepfrost Citadel," he hums in reply, scanning over the other's scarred face. "Grian will be there too, and a handful of the other hermits. Impulse, Ren, even Doc was convinced. Though, I'm pretty sure he just wants to be a seeker." Chuckling, Tango glances down as Jellie rubs between their legs.
"It'll be too cold for you Jellie! Sorry!" Scar soothes, as if she were concerned in the first place. He beams as the blue haired blaze bends down and scoops her up, petting her head. "Awww… look at you two! If Grian was here, it'd be my whole family!"
"Oh really? And here I thought the whole server was our family?" He teases, narrowing his eyes playfully.
"Well-!" Flushing slightly, he beams and looks away, waving his hand dismissively. "They are!" His voice softens from its defensive tone, and he smiles warmly, "but you three are dearest to me."
Tango is blushing as well now, leaning into the hand placed on his cheek. He stares fondly, then quietly teases, "Playing favorites, are we?"
"So what if I am?" The vex replies without hesitation. He leans in, humming, "I think I have the right."
Pretending to think it over, he shrugs. “Probably…” Tango trails off, sighing contently as they silently hold eye contact.
Jellie takes the opportunity to leap back onto the table, supposedly fed up with their nonsense as she's no longer being pet. “There she goes!” Scar snickers a bit, both of them startled out of their equally love struck trances.
Starting to make some joke or comment, Tango goes wide eyed and makes an alarmed noise. “Oh! I need to go check with a few more hermits.” He smiles, quickly kissing the vex's cheek. “I'll see you later, yeah?”
“Yep!” Scar reaches out and brushes some cat fur off of the others robes, “Wouldn't dare to miss it.” He looks down
There's a brisk wind at The Citadel, being fairly more pleasant than the usual snowstorms. It's a good day for outdoor games, all things considered. All the participating hermits were gathered by the entrance, in various mishmashes of warm clothes. Some borrowed, some old, some newly crafted.
“Alright! Everyone ready?” Tango looked to their seekers, Cub and Doc, then grinned. “No peeking you two!”
Crossing his arms, the tall scientist gives an unimpressed look. “As if I'd need to.” Doc huffs, a whisper of a smile playing at his lips. It makes the creeper far less imposing.
Next to him, the shorter vex simply rolls his eyes. He looks faintly amused as well, but makes no promises. Typical of a vex, really. But they know he won't cheat anyways. Unless it gets desperate.
“Okaaay-! Then turn around and let's get started!” The blaze beams, waving a hand at them incessantly until they did so, counting to 100. The hermits begin to scatter, laughing and lightly shoving each other a bit here and there.
Some of them trail off on their own, but a surprising handful of the group takes off in pairs or trios. Granted, there isn't actually all that many of them. Grian and Mumbo scurry off together, the shorter insisting that his friends dark clothes could hide his bright wings better against the rocks. Impulse, Gem, and Pearl all trudge towards lower slopes, giggling and wondering who would last longest. Ren ran off faster than anyone could follow, and naturally Bdubs dragged Etho by the hand towards the underside of The Citadel's bridge.
This conveniently leaves Tango with Scar, who is looking around with a look of great concentration. “Scar,” he begins, still grinning.
“Oh! Tango! We need to go, come on!” The taller hermit smiles, as if that wasn't his partner's intention to begin with. Seeing no point in arguing his case, Tango nods sagely and follows after him.
Together they venture out into the stark white expanse, the blaze occasionally directing Scar towards less open areas. He does know this land well after all, seeing as he lives on it. After a few more cuts between an outcrop or two, he's dragged down to the floor.
Now sitting side by side under a block and a half high ledge, they both shiver a bit. There's less snow down here, but it's colder when they aren't moving. Tango pulls his fur lined cloak closer, tail tucked over his feet. He looks over at the vex, seeing him slump down in his old aviator jacket. It looked fairly warm, but not entirely ideal for this kind of year round snow.
“All good?” Tango asks, blue eyes slitted in amusement.
He perks, looking over at him before pouting. Oh, the ‘woe is me’ face. Scar scoots slightly closer, their knees bumping together. “It's very cold out here!”
“Well yeah,” the blaze snorts, nodding, “this is a snow biome after all. I'm not exactly surprised.” Appraising the others' outfit, he quirks a brow. “I sent a message to everyone an hour beforehand to dress warm, Scar… is this the warmest outfit you have?”
There's no judgement in his tone, just pure curiosity. And perhaps a little concern. Who could blame him? They were dating after all, a little concern was warranted. Especially considering this is Scar. Are even winter activities not Scar Safe?
Crossing his arms- or possibly just hugging himself, as he rubs them and huffs- Scar frowns and cues the drama. “Yes! I don't exactly get much snow at either of my bases!” He holds his hands out quickly, “Just feel how cold my hands are!”
Obliging, he takes his partner's hands in his own. It's actually a bit shocking how cold they already are. Maybe it's just because Tango is a blaze, plus he's already used to the climate here.
“Here, how about I hold them? Then they won't be so cold.” He smiles, clasping them near to his chest, seeing as that's where he generated most his body heat.
Sighing happily at the lessened chill, Scar nods. “If you insist!” He hums, as if he hadn't practically shoved them into his partner's arms.
“Oh, trust me I do.” Tango rolls his eyes, but doesn't mind a bit. In fact, he'd rather hold onto his hands the whole round than let him shiver helplessly. Sure, he'd be fine either way, but it's the principle!
After a moment the vex grins, mischief in his eyes. “Hey Tango?” Faintly bluish green eyes meeting his, he leans a little closer.
“Yes?” He queries, soul flame tipped tail flicking a bit. This sounded an awful lot like a certain silver-tongued tone Scar liked to pull.
“My lips are cold too,” the taller murmurs. He's got a proud look on his face, clearly aware of how smooth that was. Or meant to be. Tango can never tell, too easily flustered over his sweet words either way.
Considering it, he glances to the side before taking a hand from Scars. Tango leans ever so closer, as if he were going in for a kiss. And then he covers his partner's lips with his newly freed hand, chuckling at his bewildered expression. His cheeks are still faintly flushed a deeper blue than usual, despite the quick halt.
It takes a moment to process for Scar. The blaze can practically see the loading wheel over his head, and tries his best not to laugh more.
Then finally his pointed ears twitch and he leans away enough so that Tango removes his hand. “Hey now! That's not what I wanted, and you know that Mister TangoTek.” He pushes his lip out in a little pout, playing it up again. But there is a small glint of worry in his eyes.
And coders, Tango isn't usually one to cave so quickly to playful schemes of this sort, but… it makes him feel guilty. The anxiety doesn't belong anywhere in his partner's expression, especially not now.
Letting go of his other hand, he instead grabs the collar of Scar's wool lined jacket and pulls him into a kiss. The vex seems startled, but then Tango feels him smile into it, and feels his lashes flutter against his skin as Scar closes his eyes. He holds him there for a moment before pulling back.
“Any less cold now?” He asks once they're both over the suddenness. Laughing at his partner's dazed nod, the blaze presses a chaste kiss to his lips before taking his hands again.
Scar blinks, then leans his head on his shoulder and hums. “Oh definitely. I think they could be warmer though!” Peeking up at Tango, he grins, “Maybe if you held me and kissed me?”
“Oh, making demands now, are we?” He teases, nudging him a little. “Didn't you know beggars can't be choosers?”
Gasping, he sits back up, nearly crashing the top of his skull against Tango's chin. “I'm no beggar! I'm simply making an educated guess!”
Snorting, he leans in closer again, “Sure, sure… and what could've tipped you off to that, then?” Tango stares with lidded eyes, smirking as the vex flusters.
He glances between the other's icy blue eyes, then swallows thickly. Offering a weak smile, he dares not move, unsure if Tango was going to initiate or not. The only sound for a brief moment was the chilly breeze and their warm breaths.
“Scaaar?” The blaze drawls, possibly a bit too smug. It was cute to see him choked up. It was a pretty even score between them as far as flustering the other goes. Grian, somehow, had them both beat out on that front. But Tango had a decent second place. Usually.
As Scar opens his mouth to reply finally, their noses mere inches apart, the distant crunching of snow makes them both freeze. Expressions dropping, they slowly turn to the opening of the stone hollow. Neither moved otherwise, waiting with bated breath to figure out who's lurking.
After a long pause, they hear a hum and some more footsteps. They grow distant, enough so that the two sigh and relax, leaning against each other.
“That was close,” Scar murmurs, beaming. He turns and presses a quick kiss to Tango's lips. “A victory celebration is in order.”
Tango grins, but pauses to consider it. It isn't technically a win yet, seeing as there hasn't been a ping on their communicators yet. But of course his urges win out, as he pulls Scar in again and presses kiss after kiss upon his lips.
Arms around each other, they laugh between every few pecks. They slow until it's only sweet little nothings, lips meeting for increased periods but not quite moving against the other's. It's probably not the best idea, but it keeps them occupied while they wait. And with Scar all but in the blaze's lap, they're both warmer too.
“Hey now,” a voice interrupts, the small space suddenly darker. Neglecting to keep quiet or at least listen for other sounds, it seemed they'd been found.
Scrambling to part, Tango sheepishly meets Impulse's best attempt at an unimpressed look. It's clear he's amused, but they both flush in embarrassment, and Scar ducks his head. “Uhh, you wouldn't happen to be a seeker, would you?” He asks, the taller hermit too flustered to make anything but stuttered syllables.
The demon tsks, crouched in the entrance. “Unfortunately I am, my friend. We got caught first, I'm pretty sure.” He smiles warmly, winking, “But I could warn the others away from here if you don't wanna come seek. We're still looking for Ren, Grian, and Mumbo.”
This makes Scar sober, brows raised. “Grian!? Goodness, how has nobody seen him? He's bright red!” He's scooting towards Impulse, who moves out of the way so they could get out.
“Beats me. Maybe his little tactic of using Mumbo as a shield worked?” The shorter brunett laughs and shrugs, “I take it you'll help?”
All three of them now stood outside, Tango nods quickly. “Of course! We can't let him win!” The blaze grins, adjusting his ribes to sit properly before setting off in the direction that he felt was best.
Scar scrambled after him after waving to Impulse. “Hey! Wait up, Tango!”
Crossing his arms, he watched them go, thin tail swinging idly behind himself. “What a pairing,” Impulse muses, shaking his head fondly before setting off in another direction.

🌕?
My favourite build is either tango's s4 nether hub or his s9 starter base or deepfrost citadel. Narrowed it down to those 3. Genuinely just love Tango's build style he's got such strong aesthetics and shapes. Don't listen to him he's been making gorgeous builds from the start and I'm glad he's started believing he's good this season. I think Pearl could build my favourite as her alien landscape and post office are probably close behind, but she hasn't had as many builds to choose from yet.

Guys I wrote something for this! I've only just started it and it will probably be a 2-parter (or 3-parter) but it's a fic! also available on AO3 if anyone's interested!
Half A Soul is not sufficient Dungeon Chow
It was a quiet night on the hermitcraft server, BDubs was sleeping, Phantoms were flying, in Scarland the end of day message had long been announced, and mainstreet had gone quiet. All was well on the server, at least for most of the hermits. Over in Tango’s DeepFrost Citadel above Decked Out 2 the hermits had all been sent home for the night while Tango ran dungeon maintenance.
Just the day prior Tango had received news that absolutely broke his heart, his favorite Ravager, Tango’s Cough was gone. Dead and with only a saddle left to remember him by. Already Tango had, with quite the heavy heart, replaced him with a new Ravager from the backups he kept in an otherwise unused part of the dungeon. Still, Tango had to run maintenance now to make sure that whatever killed his beloved pet ravager wouldn’t kill the new one too, already he was growing fond of Greed, and hoped to see him kill many Hermits.
It took nearly the whole night for the report to come back from the dungeon, and he knew right away what had happened. No, it wasn’t the dripstone, or the fire, or even fall damage. There was only one thing that could have killed Tango’s Cough, starvation. Not of the Ravager itself, no Tango’s Cough was one of the most well fed Ravagers in the dungeon, second only to the famed “Nothing, they survived Decked Out”. Rather it wasn’t the ravagers that were hungry, but the dungeon itself, and it had gotten so hungry it had begun to snack on its own inhabitants. He was seeing the same thing on floor 4, with Warden’s dying and being compelled to throw themselves from great heights to feed the dungeon, but that was to be expected, afterall with the final level of the dungeon not yet unlocked that particular level was much hungrier than the rest.
This still meant that the dungeon was not getting fed properly on the upper levels, for it to have begun feasting upon the Ravagers instead of the Hermits, so this was something Tango would have to look into.
The first thing he checked was who had done runs that day, so he could see if any anomalies came up during any specific runs. The first run of the day had been Etho, who fell in lava on the second level. Nothing, all the readings were normal and the dungeon was fed enough. The next was Zed, who made it out of level 1 with a death loop, dying to “Nothing, they survived decked out”. Still nothing. Next was Beef. Eaten by a ravager just mere blocks from the kneeling man statue. Nothing. Mumbo, who nearly escaped with the pearl of cleansing only to trip on some ice on the way out and get snacked on by the late Tango’s Cough. Nothing-wait no! Something! As Tango looked upon the readings from the dungeon, he saw that the bar showing the dungeon’s hunger was only half as full as it should have been from Mumbo’s death. How could this be?!
He ran the analysis on the rest of the runs from both phase one and two, and found something perplexing, he saw the same thing happen a handful of times and when he compared them, he found that they all had something in common: they were all from the same 2 hermits. He was immediately suspicious when he saw which two it was, and surprised it didn’t include the third hermit often there when those two got up to trouble. He was so suspicious, he called all 3 hermits over to decked out. Normally he wouldn’t summon Scar when he had no proof he was even involved, but him and Grian had been up to something the other day sneaking a whole brown Mooshrom into the citadel, and he wanted to cover all his bases. Plus if Scar wasn’t involved, he could just let Scar know he had to move his Mooshroom before it perished to the dungeon’s voracious appetite.
Soon enough all 3 members of the so-called now disbanded “Buttercups” arrived, each more confused than the last. Scar wondering if this had something to do with the PiglinMyNose head he had placed in the cafe, was he in trouble for bringing a recreation of his, Jimmy, Grian, and Joel’s strange hybrid forms from the recent experiment the 4 had done together. Scar was prepared to explain that he hadn’t brought the lifeless body with him to hermitcraft, it was only a recreation of it’s head used to decorate the cafe. Maybe it wasn’t that deep though, maybe Tango just didn’t want to see Jimmy’s face, half or not, when he couldn’t hold his rancher in his arms, busy doing things on the New Life server. Maybe Scar could offer to let Tango go with him when he next left for New Life, or maybe at least bring a message.
Grian was worried he and Scar were in trouble for the Mooshroom and the Sus Stews.
Mumbo wondered if Tango had made him his own cubby/locker room so he wouldn’t have to share with Grian. As much as the redstoner liked sharing things with the avian hybrid, it got a bit much when the room they were sharing was a 3d recreation of said avian.
I liked how in Mumbo's video he didn't even acknowledge that he was sharing a locker-room/cubby with Grian. He just kept awkwardly standing in front of Grian's room, like he clearly doesn't have one of his own so he just figures he's supposed to share with Grian. The really funny interpretation is that Tango is counting souls not players and so because Mumbo and Grian share a soul they have to share a cubby as well, it would be really funny if they also had to share a deck/runs. can you imagine a Decked Out run where Grian and Mumbo are handcuffed together and forced to do a dungeon run together, because I assume it would involve a lot of screaming. Also if Mumbo and Grian had to start sharing more things because of the Soul thing Scar would also have to get involved as Grian's "Soulmate".

7 16 20 for the hermit ask game!!
Also hope you're having a good day, miss you<3
Ask game 7 - favourite build?
I'm pretty sure if I didn't answer with Mumbo's season 7 base, then a headmate would try to murder me in my sleep /hj
But jokes aside, that was such a fuck base idea with the heartbeat throughout the entire base? I need more horror fics about it because that thing has some kind of eldritch shit going on.
Also Deepfrost Citadel my beloved
16 - favourite hardcore hermits season/team?
We haven't fully watched through Hardcore Hermits, only really watching some of Tango's first two or three episodes a thing?
So I'm just gonna leave a fun fact: We can't fucking speak or pronounce shit properly sometimes and managed to say "Tango's Hard Whore" which killed the Milkpulse besties instantly (mainly Ryan Zedif-y)
20 - favourite hermit skin?
I'm weak for most of the season 9 skins, not gonna lie. Like Dwarfpulse, the elves (Scar and Gem), and DM!Tango are so so fucking goood. This season really is just the fantasy season and I'm here for it.
Honorary mention: Grian's skins. Just in general. My favorite isn't a HC skin tho since it's his painter skin from MCC (I don't remember which ;o;)
#answers#itstaisstuff#ask game: hermit ask#sorry this took a bit to answer rhodey was begging for attention and wouldnt let me move

We’re gonna pretend I couldn’t just ask you this in our DMs, a’ight? I’m playing the game here xD
Anything you’re willing to share for the first P/S oneshot? If not, how about something for Neither Man Nor Mythical? ;P
-Fern
I appreciate that you're willing to play the game with me <3 You're the best <3
I can share a little bit of both! considering no one else has asked about anything else, might as well capitalize!
So, Untitled Perfection/Saint one-shot #1 is my response to the gazillion comments I got during the posting of Perfection/Saint from people who were really excited to see Jimmy get his wings. I teased them in Chapter 18 of P/S, but the timeline of the rest of the fic was never going to encompass enough time and magic training on Jimmy's part for him to actually manifest them on the page. So this one-shot is going to be that whole sequence! (Coupled with a little flashback to BB Tango manifesting his own wings for the first time ;-P)
Here's a tiny little snippet of it!
Tango reached up and cradled Jimmy’s face between both hands. Jimmy’s angular, pointed ears flicked in the wind. “Close your eyes,” he whispered, brushing his thumbs over the golden freckles on Jimmy’s cheekbones. Jimmy’s eyelids fluttered closed, pressing his cheeks into Tango’s hands. His breathing was audibly a little shaky. He could feel Tango lean closer to him, could feel his cool—but warmer than the surrounding cold mountain air by just enough to be noticeable—breath brush over his face. “Reach for your magic, darling,” Tango whispered, tilting his head down to press their foreheads together. Jimmy raised his hands and loosely wrapped them around Tango’s wrists. Just to have something to hold onto. His magic shimmered within him. Warm and bright. Summery. Tango seemed to feel the shift of Jimmy reaching out for it because he brushed his thumbs over Jimmy’s cheekbones again and took a deep breath. “Form your wings in your mind. They may not be exactly as you imagined them, but that’s okay. Our wings are an intrinsic part of our magic and each Fae’s is unique to them. There are trends, yes, like Winter Fae having snowy, icy wings. But the wings themselves are as individual as our faces.” Jimmy tried to follow along to Tango’s words. He had that brief memory of gold wings he’d seen when Tango was removing his glamour, turning him from essentially-but-not-really human into a proper Fae. The wings had been brilliantly bright and gold. He held onto that image in his memory. Grasping it and clinging on.
As for Neither Man Nor Mythical! It's an Even Ice Walls Fall Down main timeline one-shot! (Most of it is canon to the other timelines too, but certain events contained within the text that are main-timeline-specific, such as Deepfrost getting kicked out of the division. There's a tidbit for those who are curious.) It's also a very beefy one-shot, currently clocking in at 20.3k and not done. Inferna is writing pieces of it with me, but for the most part I have written probably 18-19k of that word count because I just can't stop.
Which, y'know, at this point, surprises no one XD
Oh. And it's all
Etho centric. Whole one-shot is Etho POV ;-P Take that how you will ;-D
Here's a snippet of it!
“Stop,” Arctic Fox said, one hand catching Deepfrost’s fist. Deepfrost was breathing hard from their sparring match, but he wasn’t sweaty. Frost glittered in his hair. “That’s enough for now.” “I can keep going,” Deepfrost protested. Arctic Fox tilted his head, his left eye burning to red, as he examined Deepfrost. “Is that right?” he asked. There was no sarcasm or condescension in his tone. Just a curious question. Exhaustion wasn’t an emotion—it was a physical sensation. But centuries of wars taught him what exhaustion did to a person’s emotions. Hundreds of thousands—if not millions—of soldiers all around him for centuries. Felt the way it dragged people down physically and emotionally. Saw the weight of it on mentality. He could feel it pressing down on Deepfrost’s stubborn, fierce determination. “Don’t patronize me,” Deepfrost growled, jaw tight and teeth clenched. Arctic Fox felt his own heart twinge. So, so young. Not even fifty years ago, a boy his age—he had to be in his late teens, by the rules of manifestation—would already look like a grown man. Deepfrost still looked like a child. Peach fuzz on his jaw, too thin, light, and wispy to even need shaving. Small and thin. Fox himself wasn’t bulky muscular like HoTGuY and Lore, he was on the trim side himself, but he was taller than everyone else here. Deepfrost was just so young. “I’m not patronizing you,” Arctic Fox said. “You have to train your endurance. For now, we’re not pushing you to your absolute limit. All that will do is burn you out. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, Frost. A long, slow roll.” Deepfrost scowled. Arctic Fox couldn’t help but laugh at the youthful pout forming on Deepfrost’s face. “C’mon. Let’s go grab some water and take a breather. I could use one myself.” He was breathing a little hard, but nowhere near as bad as Deepfrost. “Not… not as young as I once was.” He pushed the ropes of the sparring ring—it was a boxing ring, but Arctic Fox didn’t often teach boxing, though he knew how—up and down to make a hole for Deepfrost to sling himself through before ducking through himself. He hopped down to ground level and followed Deepfrost over to their water bottles. As Deepfrost grabbed his, ice crystalized over the surface with a quiet, shimmery, chiming sort of sound. He took several long, deep gulps. “Here,” he offered, holding a hand out for Fox’s water bottle. He passed it over. The surface turned icy on contact with Deepfrost’s palm. “Thank you,” Arctic Fox said. He took a few swigs himself. Deepfrost put his hands on his knees and dropped his head, just letting himself pant. Not seeming to mind the wraps around his hands. Arctic Fox got his breath back faster. Much more used to exertion. After a few moments, Deepfrost craned his head up to look at him. “S… so,” he said through his much lighter panting. “How did you come to learn so much about martial arts?” Fox shrugged. “I’ve been studying them for… most of my life.” “When’d you start?” “Long before you were born.” He playfully ruffled Deepfrost’s spikes, making the ice in them tinkle against one another. Deepfrost made a face and flicked his neck to throw Fox’s hand off. “Oh yeah?” Deepfrost challenged. “Mmhmm.” “And how old are you?” Etho felt his eyes unfocus.
Thank you Inferna! I'm really glad you played the game with me! This made me so happy! <333

u did that reblog abt talking abt ur fics so now ur subjected to me
Tango is so fucking cool in all of your goddamn fanfictions. like every time everything he does is so genuis coded which means your a genuis. genuis in fiction. And i fcuking love how fucking comic codded this is. like cartoonish i love it and i love that you play in that willingly.
and wdym TANGO FROZE THE CUFFS TO GET OUT ughhh i hate that man he should've died in the finale (i dont mean that) and oh my god him coming back as deepfrost ughhh
I love empires studio and Jimmy beign a backround artist and seeing colors in people. colors are so beautiful and soft and that's just so him ya know,,,, I can imagine Tango spent DAYS analysing his work sometimes. He'd go super brained and be like "this color is because of... joel being an asshole!" and Jimmy would be like "it's actually because of martyn..." and tango would be like ughghghghhg
also that clip about tango doing the 288 math in zed's episode. totally thought about your tango then. i was like "does he really have 160 IQ?????" lmfao. i fucking forever love ice walls
you know me and my dang love for healing light and my dang impatience for part two. Im so fucking excted (this goes out to inferna too)
Firewalls. is it evil of me to hope that tango burns Jimmy's wings. even a little bit. just a little bit. for the shits and giggles.
We need more of grian lore i cannot stress this enough grian is like that badass character in a cartoon (maybe bcz he is but oh well)
Foundation is <3 angel is sososo pretty (i have never seen her in my life) and im so excited for the LOREE i keep imaging her and scar in a bus in the middle of the night going to grian's since thazt chapter dropped and UGH.
I'm fine with that XD I love talking about my fics XD
This got long so it's under the cut
Thank you! I try to lean into the cartoonish vibes as much as I can! It helps keep things a little lighter and, to me personally, more fun. I'm really tired of "gritty, grimdark" superhero stories that have come about in recent decades don't get me started on what they've done to Batman and even Superman (sob) so I try to make mine capture the whimsy and fun of "if I had powers, I'd use them to help" as much as I can
As for Tango's genius, I do really struggle with it, but thank you, I appreciate the compliment
Yeah, Tango freezing the cuffs to get out was, I'll admit, a little Elsa-from-Frozen but I didn't even think about Frozen when I was writing it XD I was just thinking "Oh some metal gets really brittle when it gets cold and Tango is cold and he can't freeze" so I did the same thing XD
I don't know why I made Jimmy a background artist, tbh. It just kinda suited him in my head. Not the center of attention but still an appreciated part of the process without which nothing would be as good and immersive. And I liked that for how Jimmy and Sheriff are in this universe. (And, yeah, Tango doesn't always understand what Jimmy's color analysis choices are but he enjoys it nonetheless)
Honestly I think ccTango is a lot more intelligent than he gives himself credit for and I'm perfectly content to perpetuate that in the fics I write. Because, yeah, holy cow that's actually a sheep, Tango /ref that math was fast. Like I can do long multiplication in my head too but not that fast
@infernafiresword Passing along the love for Healing Light! We're working on Part 2 we promise. I just kinda got infected by Perfection/Saint and took a few weeks off every other project to get it finished and written but once it's done (and it's close) I will be going back to Healing Light 2 and Burn Out 2
Oh part 2 of Walls of Fire will have lots of shenanigans, but I can't tell you what happens to Jimmy's wings because spoilers
Oh Grian Lore? Okay. Here's a fun fact about Ice Walls!Grian: there is one (1) very specific reason Grian decided to try having friends again after being mostly alone for thousands of years when a 14-year-old Jimmy declared that they would be friends. I might be toying with revealing it in Walls of Fire 2 though so I'm not going to say what that very specific reason was just yet (but if I don't include it for whatever reason, come yell at me and I'll tell you then lol). It had something to do with Jimmy and his personality, and that's all I'll say
I have also never seen Angel in my life but she's pretty in my head too 😊 It's very dear to me when people enjoy and like Angel - she's my sweetie

Hi!!! I keep re reading your pics of the superhero au and I wanted to know more stuff if your okay with it. Could we get more about Joel's powers? It seems he was pretty strong back in his hay day, but what was he capable of that made them force him into retirement so early?
Of course I'm okay with it! I'm happy to talk more about it! :-D
For anyone who sees this and is unfamiliar, V's referencing my "Even Ice Walls Fall Down" fic! (And subsequent one-shots filling out the universe a little)
So, Joel/Lore!
He is one of the strongest superpowered people to have ever popped up in the city. Tango/Deepfrost is, like, literally an extremely close second (if not tied, but since their powers are so different, the ranking is subjective).
Joel has three powers, which is part of what makes him so powerful. 1) He can fly (Superman style) 2) He can shoot lightning from his hands 3) He's invulnerable to, like, almost everything
Joel's invulnerability comes with the side effects of insanely high stamina and strength, considering he can't injure himself by overdoing it
He manifested when he was 19 and as of the time of the main AU, he's 31, so he's had his powers for... 12 years (did I math that right? i think so. it's late) and in that time, the only time he feels pain is when Jimmy's super strength overpowers his invulnerability's limit. It does have a limit. All of their powers have limits (except maybe Grian's... but Grian is a god pretending to be a mortal, not an actual superpowered human so he doesn't count). Because, yeah, Jimmy really is that strong
Now, because Joel manifested his powers at 19, he couldn't get hurt while he was a reckless 20-something. So he was extra reckless, especially when it came to being Lore. The division as we know it in the AU was nowhere near as structured as it is by the time Jimmy gets there, and no one was really regulating the superheroes. There weren't many of them, and they had no handler or supervisor or person trying to make sure they all behave
And Joel's invulnerability made him... destructive. Not always through his own actions
Because, see, when Joel was first starting out, Doc was still in the city. He had not yet left and taken over a country and established a Perimeter around it. And Doc had a lot of beef with Joel. Partially because Joel was an arrogant early-20's idiot (affectionate) and Doc wanted to knock him down a couple pegs (and Joel definitely egged him on and mocked with little singsong "You can't get me!" type childish taunts)
Doc also really wanted to see what the limit of Joel's invulnerability was, and so he kept making bigger and stronger inventions to try and even just barely break Joel's skin. And those bigger, stronger inventions were starting to do a lot of structural damage to the city. Because Doc was throwing absolutely massive weapons at Joel and Joel's lightning isn't exactly safe for normal people to be around either. He can control the voltage of his bolts and the more frustrated he gets, the stronger his lightning becomes as a defense mechanism. Which was very dangerous.
And let me be clear on something: Joel did not want to retire from being a superhero active in the field. He loved it. He loved the praise and the fans and the validation and the pride of a job well done
But Lizzie was going to run for mayor and they were married at that point and the constant destruction of Lore and Doc's fights were going to be hard on her campaign (because who wants a mayor whose husband keeps damaging her city? etc.)
For clarification here: people knew Lore and Lizzie were married or at least romantically involved in some way (because there were many pictures snapped of Joel dipping Lizzie for a kiss after particularly brutal fights), but didn't know at that time that Lore's real name was Joel.
So anyway, since Lizzie wanted to run for mayor and Joel's superheroing was going to jeopardize her campaign, he hung up his cape (figuratively? IDK. Maybe his super suit had a cape. Haven't thought about it). Because he loves his wife more than he loves being Lore.
I wouldn't necessarily say he was "forced" into retirement. He didn't want to retire, but he also knew it was the best course of action for the city's safety. To trust the city and its citizens to the other heroes who didn't destroy as much
And Joel is, at the moment, the only hero in the division with a public civilian identity. I think when Lizzie was campaigning for mayor and he retired from hero life, that was when he revealed to the city that his name is Joel.
After Lizzie won the mayor election, Joel settled into his position at the head of the superhero division and shaped it into how we see it today in the main timeline of the AU. He became the heroes' handler/supervisor, he trains new heroes when their powers are similar enough (he did not train Deepfrost, though. He was 20 when Tango manifested and they didn't get along terribly well. Their personalities were both strong and clashed). He handles logistics and dispatch. He's got other people helping him, but he's at the top. He wasn't the only one who made the decision to have heroes register their secret identities with the division, but he and Lizzie were the ones to approve it
Joel was 24 and barely into his role as the head of the superhero division (he was not in the field for very long) when Tango left/was kicked out of the division - and the two had a rather violent final encounter at the division building. The reason Tango even held his own as long as he did against Joel's invulnerability during their altercation is the fact that Tango is a genius, a gifted strategist, really nimble, fast, very tricky, very slippery (as Jimmy/Sheriff would attest in a heartbeat), and quick on the draw with his powers. Tango's darkness actually trumps the light given off by Joel's lightning (meaning even if Joel shot a bolt of lightning through Tango's cloud of darkness, he wouldn't be able to see anything), and that definitely saved him from getting fried hard to shoot what you can't see and Tango can control how the darkness moves
So yeah! TL;DR, Joel's powers and his mutual hatred with Doc probably could have destroyed the whole city and he decided it was best for him to stay out of the field after Lizzie wanted to run for mayor
Somewhere between when Tango left the division and the beginning of "Even Ice Walls Fall Down," Joel mellowed out somewhat - and matured a lot. That said, if Deepfrost ever went back to the division, Joel and him would still probably throw hands on sight
#Even Ice Walls Fall Down#lovely asks!#ViriV 💜#fic talk#Ice Walls Joel#Ice Walls Tango#Ice Walls Doc#Ice Walls Lizzie#i'm making tags for my version of the characters so I don't put this in main tags i guess? idk

I just wanted you to know that I have developed so many short story continuations of like, all of your fanfics its not even funny. Like, I gave sheriff jimmy a whole ARC where he ends up in conflicts with Joel and then flees the division. BRUH!! you've given me brain rot, I demand compensation, I'm loosing actual sleep over these AU'S XD
Oh my goodness! I'm so honored that I've inspired you so much! <3
You're actually Dangerously Close to Tango's history with Joel when he left the division. Because they did end up in major conflicts around the time Tango left! But I'm very happy that you've created more based on something I made!
May I offer you a piece of the as-yet-untitled Even Ice Walls Fall Down Role Swap I'm working on as compensation? XD
For context: When I first thought of the idea of "superhero and villain AU for the Ranchers" I really loved Deepfrost and Sheriff as a villain and a hero respectively, but my friend who I ranted to about it (@soemthingsparkly who also did Deepfrost and Sheriff art in the fic :-D) really loved the idea of hero!Tango and villain!Jimmy instead. And I promised them I'd work on a version where Tango is the superhero Blaze and Jimmy is the villain Canary because as Ice Walls demonstrates, I am Not Creative™ at coming up with hero or villain aliases. And I'm still working on it but I do enjoy it
AKA the version of the story where if they manifested different powers, they might have taken different paths?
—
"Blaze, watch out! There are civilians nearby!" Joel barked in Blaze's earpiece as he loosed a wheel of fire. Canary squawked in alarm as Poultry Man tackled him out of the way of the wheel. The two hurtled to one side in a tangle of white and yellow feathers.
"I know that," Blaze ground out as he focused on conjuring another wheel. He liked wheels of fire more than fireballs, due to being a little more precise and effective, in his opinion. "So maybe step off my back a little."
"I will when you stop acting like you're out of control!" Joel snapped.
Blaze's whole body went rigid, the fire wheel spinning around his fist. "Out of control?" he demanded, his other hand holding the earpiece firmer in his ear as he ducked behind a concrete barrier to hide. "I am never out of control, and I resent the implication otherwise." An animalistic growl built in his throat. "Do you understand how much I work to remain in control with powers like mine?"
"Blaze—"
"N-n-n-n-no. Between the two of us, only one of us has the one-hundred-and-sixty IQ. And that would be me. So don't you dare lecture me about not knowing how to use my own powers. I'm not you, Lore. I'm not a danger to myself and others because I don't know how to leash myself. So shut up and let me do my work." He ripped his earpiece out of his ear and vaulted the concrete barrier to throw himself back into the fight, hurling the fire wheel in Poultry Man's general direction. The villain squawked like a chicken and dodged out of the way.
"Blaze! What are you doing?!" HoTGuY shouted as Blaze lowered his head a little and charged forward. His Blaze Rods appeared around his head, orbiting fast. They lifted him off the ground and he was flying, his gold-blond hair turning into pure flame. It would return to normal later.
Canary saw him in the air and snapped out his wings—enormous and vibrant, rich yellow. They beat the air once and shot him up to be almost level with Blaze. "Look who we pissed off!" Canary teased, voice singsong and high-pitched. "You here to play games, Fire Boy?"
Blaze's eyes were entirely the same shade of red while his fire powers were active and his Blaze Rods orbited his head. Iris, sclera, pupil—all the same. It was why he didn't bother wearing a mask. No one expected the green-eyed nerd to be Blaze because everyone assumed Blaze was red-eyed all the time.
Blaze bared his teeth in a frustrated snarl, sparks shooting between the gaps. He spun two fire wheels into existence. One spinning around each hand. "Let's see how playful you are when your flight feathers are ash, birdie," he spat. The inside of his mouth glowed like there was fire in his throat, its light reflecting outward.
Blaze had a temper. Blaze knew he had a temper. A bad one. One with a short fuse and a big explosion. He knew it was a side-effect of his powers. He didn't used to be so easy to set off. He used to be a lot more patient with people and situations.
But here he was, eleven years after his powers manifested, ready to burn a whole city block down and trying to stop himself from actually doing so.
But man did Canary piss him off. Even more than Poultry Man. Poultry Man was a pain in the neck. He was chaotic and antagonistically playful. He took nothing seriously. But Canary—Canary was little more than Poultry Man's lackey. But he targeted Blaze like it was his life goal to see how much fire he could withstand.
Canary's eyes widened behind his mask.
"Take the shot, you idiot!" Poultry Man shouted.
Canary moved to aim his crossbow, but Blaze's fire wheel spun into existence faster. He hurled it across the distance like a chakram. Canary's wings flapped hard to go over it and avoid it. Blaze rushed after.
