It’s been a couple years since I made an IMPORTANT PSA about this but this is a follicle mite, or demodex, which has basically no face, just a little mouth underneath:
Tumblr media
The following is a closeup of a baby silkworm that falsely went viral years ago as a photo of demodex:
Tumblr media
And this is commonly used CG stock art by someone who unfortunately referenced both:

Demodex don’t have claws or fangs or eyes! They are just smooth sausage beasts. We also don’t actually know what they eat, but it’s possible that they eat harmless amounts of our skin cells, which we constantly shed by the millions anyway, by melting them down with enzymes. Also, contrary to some older claims that they’re found in something like 1/4 to 1/3 of the human population, more recent studies couldn’t find any adults over 19 without them, so if you’re a grown up, you have little hot dog skin friends always.

What if humanity created the techfolk for the purpose of building more machines?
We humans are constantly exuding a miasma of dead skin cells, sweat and sebum droplets, and sharticles. There is nowhere in your home that you can store your toothbrush without getting some faecal particles on it. Your face is populated by microscopic demodex mites. We used to think they had no anuses because they were so short-lived they died before they could fill up with poo -- turns out we were wrong about that; they do have anuses and they do poo on your face. You can't get rid of demodex mites; it's just part of being human.
We do our best to keep the manufacturing plants sterile for delicate circuitboards (and pharmaceuticals, etc.), but it's a hard battle. What if there was simply an intelligent worker who didn't constantly ooze and drip and shed?

Demodex folliculorum is a microscopic mite that can only survive on the skin of humans.[2][3] Most people have D. folliculorum on their skin. Usually, the mites do not cause any harm, so are considered an example of commensalism rather than parasitism;[4] but they can cause disease, known as demodicosis.[5]
As an adult, D. folliculorum measures 0.3 to 0.4 mm (0.012 to 0.016 in) long.[7]
The entire life cycle of D. folliculorum takes 14–16 days.[9] Adult mites copulate at the top of the hair follicle, near the skin surface.[10] Eggs are deposited in the sebaceous gland inside the hair follicle.[10] The heart-shaped egg is 0.1 mm (0.0039 in) long, and hatches into a six-legged larva.[11] In seven days the larva develops into a mature adult,[5] with two intervening nymph stages.[11] The adult lives for four to six days.[9]
Within the hair follicle, D. folliculorum is found above the sebaceous gland,[2] positioned head downward, with the end of the abdomen often protruding from the hair follicle.[11] Inhabited follicles usually contain 2–6 mites, but numbers can be greater.[11]
D. folliculorum is not found on newborn babies, but is acquired shortly after birth, most likely from maternal contact.[11] Few mites are found on children under 10 years of age, but nearly all elderly people have them.[10] The increasing population over time may be due to a small initial presence gradually growing over time, or may be because levels of the mite's food, sebum, increase with age.[10] Substance produced by sebaceous glands of newborns has also a different composition as it is called vernix caseosa.[13]
High numbers of D. folliculorum are associated with blepharitis and acne rosacea.[14] The mechanism by which the mites cause disease is unknown; they may physically block the hair follicle, carry disease-causing bacteria or, after death, their bodies may cause either a delayed hypersensitivity response, or an innate immune response.[10] Controversy exists over whether high numbers of D. folliculorum cause rosacea, or whether the skin environment caused by rosacea is more hospitable to mites than normal skin, allowing them to flourish.[7] Populations of D. folliculorum are higher in people with immunosuppression.[4]

Demodex life cycle
The Demodex life cycle is key to understanding how these tiny mites affect human skin. Spanning about 14 to 16 days, the Demodex life cycle begins when females lay eggs inside hair follicles or sebaceous glands. Within 60 hours, larvae hatch and mature into adults over the next seven days. This rapid progression makes the Demodex life cycle a critical factor in issues like rosacea, acne, and hair loss.
Demodex mites follow a predictable pattern in their life cycle: at night, they surface to mate and then retreat back beneath the skin to lay eggs. Their quick reproduction rate and long lifespan make the Demodex life cycle challenging to control with short-term treatments. To manage these mites effectively, it’s crucial to target both adults and larvae over multiple stages of the Demodex life cycle, ensuring a long-term solution.

Has Joe Rogan’s Stance On Atheism Started To Shift?
the universe doesn't abide by human standard, but how humans operate help solve the riddle that something didn't come from spontaneous cluster of uber-heated atoms but a design. Microorganisms, ecosystems are design. The universe, The Matrix is code. Code is programmed.
There's a phenomenon in women called "micro-chimerism" where the fetus/baby, particularly male children where during maturation & years after birth or even in a case of termination/assassination; the conception at all ie. the mother will regardless retain a level of her son's male DNA on a microscopic level, which helps with immune system boosts even against cancer, regeneration, etc. Tho more beneficial if she has the kid because it’s coursing in her system longer.
Literal Comic book shit, because she got pregnant.
That's not because of cosmic fart particles condensed into an explosion because chance, that's pure, non-debatable design. That’s a literal stat buff.
The microorganisms in your body, including the one’s that could be classified as “animals” can tear you apart, eat holes in your organs, anatomical systematic failure. They work in harmony so that you live, including the demodex creatures that live in the pores on your face and roam about as you sleep every day.
Tumblr media
None of that is chance, that’s intention, those little guys follow an instinct/ a directive assigned to them, it’s why they act as facial cleaning crews (eating excess oils & dead skin) instead of eating you alive as a baby. Because if it’s aimless primal compulsion, why would these microscopic titans coexist with monolithic inferiors? What is intelligence now if not derived from Intelligence then, is, or to be?
Balance isn’t accidental, or happenstance, or a gamble of probability.
I’ve been game for years to accept that things just happen, it’s easier to believe that, makes you feel less powerless amongst space.
But logically- it makes no sense that the number 4 came to be without 2+2. Or 2+2 came to be without 1 or the value of 0 coming before to precede it’s stats in the sequence.
Science itself cannot sustain such a theory.
Think about The Sims 2 or the pocket-dimensions called phones and computers, how humans operate & create their own little worlds where they play god, that is  partly how we emulate the self-important quantum intelligence we labeled "God".
Religion as it’s perceived by the religious simply complicates it, and people’s aversion to religion & namely accountability complicates it further. But neither erases the reality of “code”.
The universe is a program, building-block: code, code is designed. Very simple.

*a different alien who has been eavesdropping*
Alien: "human, what is this itching and why does it necessitate dental pressure?"
Human: "oh, its just irritated skin."
Alien: "so your solution to irritated skin is to irritate it further? And is such irritation not caused by exposure to caustic chemicals?"
Human: *shrugs* "it feels good, and it makes the itching go away. And yeah, chemicals can cause it, or splinter, or insect bites. infections can cause rashes that itch too. Oh and some plants have a toxin that causes painful itchiness if you touch them."
Alien: *eyes bugging out as he almost shouts at the idiot human* "you might have dangerous chemicals, or toxins, or infectious bacteria on your hand! And you put it in Your mouth? Go to sick bay!"
Human: "what? No! It's fine! It just happens sometimes. My mate reckons it's the demodex."
Alien: "the... What?"
Human: "demodex, microscopic mites that live on your skin and eat dead cells. Everyone has them."
Alien: "fleas! You have fleas and they irritate your skin so you eat them! Go to sick bay now! Or I will call a decontamination team!"
Alien crewmate: human, what are you doing?
Human, chewing on their hand: my palm itches.
Alien crewmate: what?! You sure you haven't got space madness? You're putting your dexterous appendage in that venomous mouth of yours...
Human: it's fine as long as I don't break skin.
Alien, flabbergasted: but why teeth? You have another hand, don't you?
Human: human palms have very thick skin so it's difficult to scratch itches there. I'm chewing on it because my teeth can more easily apply enough pressure to get the itch.
Alien, unconvinced: alright but where's the human enrichment kit? I think we should get you tinkering.
Human: oh good idea! The wire brush can scratch my palm too!
Alien: then why didn't you try that first?
Human, shrugging: teeth were closer
Alien: remind me to always keep the human enrichment kit handy...

HAS A RESCUE WILLING TO PULL... if a qualified foster steps up to save this cutie's life!! In Baltimore City, MD: 9 y/o sweetheart who is described lovingly by volunteers as a "super easy, slow moving mini hippo" - BARCS, Baltimore MD If you can possibly give Peaky a loving foster home away from the noisy, overcrowded shelter, please email [email protected] Peaky- 9 y/o, altered male, 73lbs 9-year-old 'Peaky' is a super easy, slow moving mini hippo. He is a sweet and playful senior who absolutely loves treats, is super friendly, and really enjoys a good scratch. This boy also appears housetrained at the shelter, walks well on the leash, and is friendly with every new person he meets. When tested off-leash in our shelter's play yard, Peaky was nervous and avoidant of other dogs, so prefers gentle and polite friends who are respectful and able to read cues. It's clear his heart is really with human companions! Upon examination, our vets noted that Peaky has severe dermatitis -demodex is suspected; however, sarcoptic mange is a possibility as well, so he was given Bravecto, which works off-label to kill ectoparasites like demodex. He is also being treated for otitis and has multi-joint arthritis, so fatty acids and joint supplements are recommended ongoing. A full medical summary can be provided upon request. No senior should spend their days in a shelter, and sweet boy Peaky here is no exception. This handsome buddy will be available for pick-up on 12/30, and we would love to see him in the comfort of a foster home ASAP. Please let us know if your organization can help! Thank you, The BARCS Rescue Team Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter (BARCS) New Address! 2490 Giles Rd, Baltimore, MD 21225 [email protected]| (410) 396-4695 Rescue pick-up hours: Monday-Friday: 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday: 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m Adoption hours: Monday-Friday: 2 p.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, Inc. Demodex on Human Skin: The Invisible Mites in Your Hair Follicles
Welcome to the fascinating world of Demodex mites, the tiny creatures that quietly inhabit the nooks and crannies of human skin. These microscopic mites are part of almost every person’s everyday life, yet they remain mostly unnoticed. Living in or near hair follicles, especially on the face, Demodex mites come in two main species that affect humans: Demodex folliculorum and Demodex brevis.…

I think we might have bed bugs and I can't bring myself to be that upset about it because 1) I'm still sick and don't want to deal with it yet, 2) if it is bed bugs, they've been around for months, so another day or two won't make a difference, and 3) I legit love ectoparasites
Bed bugs are impressively tough and have been around for thousands of years and have that cute little rhyme about them. I like that they slip out at night to feed on humans like mini vampires
Mosquitoes just drink blood to get the nutrients that they need to produce eggs, so whatever, and it's kind of fun being in a swamp in the summer in long sleeves and pants and a hat with a mosquito net and being able to let them swarm you
Head lice are fucking adorable. They evolved to spend their entire lives on our heads, from their claws to their stumpy little legs. It's very flattering
Ticks are...friendly? Adorably clingy? and tick-borne illnesses are interesting
Demodex mites are so gross. I love that something so horrifying lives on everyone's faces. Like whenever you look at someone really attractive, you're also looking at THEM
Fleas. Flea circuses. The hopping

Notes:
We had a freshly opened bottle of Port available for anyone to take a small draught on this briskly cold evening. About 10 partook, while Tom gave us all a brief history of PORT.
There isn't much to bitch about tonight. So to give you something to think about, Google DEMODEX. There are lots of things to read, but the PUBMED article seems most informative to me. Search "HUMAN DEMODEX MITE: THE VERSATILE MITE OF DERMATOLOGICAL IMPORTANCE". Don't miss the line that "the prevalence of DEMODEX in skin samples approaches 100%." After reading this, you will never look in the mirror again without looking for these ugly mites. My Parasitology Professor said that the famous Parasitology short Poem is "Adam Had 'em". I must sadly confess that all old folks are heavily infested.
Everybody is hurting. WG has a sore knee, Sandy also her knee, Chase has a sore wrist, even Herb for once complains of a sore hip, and I hurt everywhere. Take it easy. Don't stress those sore hurting parts. And remember that we have an Orthopedic Surgeon on staff who is always happy to be consulted.
Thursday at 4 PM. A Wine tasting follows.

Demodex blepharitis is a type of eyelid inflammation caused by an infestation of Demodex mites, specifically Demodex folliculorum and Demodex brevis. These microscopic mites are normally found on the skin and hair follicles of humans, but an overpopulation can lead to various dermatological issues, including blepharitis.
Symptoms of Demodex blepharitis may include red and swollen eyelids, itching, burning sensations, and a gritty feeling in the eyes. In some cases, individuals with Demodex blepharitis may also experience blurred vision and sensitivity to light.
