Dennis and his second wife Isabella

Isabella Garcia, as in Hector's twice mentioned therapist, Dennis meets her in the 80s, in the main timeline this is after his first marriage falls apart but different au branches have different outcomes

They meet when Dennis connects with his bio mother Maria Gomez(born Maria Anderson) and she introduces the two being that Isabella's family is close with the Gomez family and on this day in the summer of 1989, the couple spend a day out, enjoying all the festivities of the Harum Scarum sideshow(more on that soon)

in honour of ron dennis being knighted, here is a non-exhaustive list of my favourite ron dennis insanity moments:

ronspeak – the existence of his own ultra-corporate, long-winded, information free method of communication that f1 journalists dubbed ronspeak and still make jokes about to this day

refusing to be blackmailed by fernando alonso over spygate, going to max mosely and bernie eccleston to confess about it, earning mclaren the largest fine in sporting history (not just f1) almost entirely because they didn’t like him

his insistence on everything at mclaren being painted in grey, white, or silver, including the cars. former employees have genuinely used the word “orwellian” to describe it, as well as comparing it to Metropolis, the 1927 german sci-fi about class inequality where the workers live underground

the time he used a mechanic as an arm rest whilst yelling at kimi raikkonen before the disaster that was the 2005 us grand prix

getting so angry at adrian newey for secretly having his office repainted to be less suicide inducing (something adrian newey has actually said) that newey legitimately thought he was going to have a heart attack

trying to prevent mclaren employees from having tea, coffee, and even water at their desks. he only relented when someone pointed out that it probably wasn’t legal to prevent workers from drinking water

hiring fernando alonso, having him bribe mechanics and engineers, speak openly in emails about spygate, attempt to blackmail him over spygate, nearly cause an aneurysm by eating a peach messily, part ways with him, and then hire him AGAIN, less than a decade later just for him to publically criticise the car and the team’s partnerships

banning personal effects from workers’ desks in mclaren headquarters, eventually allowing a single family photograph on the condition that it was stored in a drawer overnight

I think my favorite thing about Tank, as a character that I’ve made, is how many contradictory characters traits they have. Anyone who has gotten me into DMs to talk about Tank knows it’s one of my favorite things to talk about with Tank.

How Tank, even at the core of their being, is NEVER truly honest with himself. Is almost constantly passively lying but so desperately wants the truth.

Tank hates fighting but is so damn good at it, good enough for a while they had a profitable business with it.

Tank reacts to affection and attention like he’d break out in a rash from even a touch but we all know how much Tank craves it like a starving dog.

Tank bites, makes other people bleed and fall to the floor, no easy fight. Sharp tongue and even sharper teeth, violence a well cared for and crafted blade in Tanks hands but still..

Still Tank is so afraid, all the time. Of everything, of everyone truly.

Tank is a hunter, a predator, a dog tugging at his leash but they have prey fear AND prey rage. That abstract mix of horror and desperation of a cornered animal about to be skinned. The desperation of not wanting to be the next lump of cooking flesh on the floor, even if they had to be the one skinning someone else to make sure of it.

It’s almost funny, how much blood Tank has on their hands to make people forget the sound of their scared heart.

They can never stop hearing the quickening beating in their ears, even if their heart feels stone still.

No matter how many times people point and yell wolf, Tank will always feel like prey

..might be a hard take but..

Mac and Dennis are kinda like Zendaya and Pedro Pascal. Mac is really easy to draw and almost everyone can whip up an image of that man like nothing. Like every single fan art I’ve seen of Mac LOOKS like Mac, don’t even need to read the caption.

Dennis on the other hand… is a whole different story. I don’t know what it is but Dennis is never quite spot on.. sometimes he is but it’s always like a tiny bit.. off. Like zendaya, you can spend HOURS on it and still something just isn’t correct.

I really love your perspective on Johnny's disabilities and addictions impacting how he sees and interacts with the world-- as someone who herself isn't disabled I tend to overlook the way people view the world through that lens and as a result have realized that I haven't touched upon it much in my own analysis of Cyberpunk, and your insight really was spot-on and spoke to me in a way I hadn't considered before.

I talk a lot about the themes and meta of the game but Pondsmith himself came out and said, like, before the game came out that Johnny is not the hero of the story. He THINKS he's the hero of the story but the way people and even himself idolize him and his actions are in many ways his biggest shortcoming. Johnny is addicted to the image of himself, much like he's addicted to his vices and addicted to his cause. He needs his anchors no matter how detrimental they are to him, but in many respects those anchors were never his choice. Now he's stuck in his place, dug in and unable to move, and that's the way he dies. Alone, unmoored, and stuck in his ways.

He's a very tragic and even empathetic character-- I do understand why he does the things he does and feel for him when he suffers tragedies-- but treating him as a hero of this story is wrong, in my opinion. He's a disabled, traumatized war veteran who was set up in life to fail at a very early age. His flaws are of his own making. They are not of his own design.

i'm thinking about righteous doing that one trope and going ape shit and just sweeping all the things off his office desk in a fit of rage, throwing the telephone against the wall, smashing things, all of that stuff, i mean years of political progress, years of self-conditioning, years of rock-banning and years of kilroy in prison, slipping through his fingers

and then he grabs a picture frame so he can chuck it as hard as he can but he glances at it

it's a picture of his parents, when he was just three.

and he just cracks in two and breaks down in tears
