Was doing some research about what the Copley would have looked like when Armand ordered the entire menu and found this:

Assuming the Copley refers to the Fairmont Copley Plaza (which it must, all of the old articles I can find refer to it as just The Copley), the dining room was dominated by a rotating merry go round bar until 1978. The merry go round would finish a rotation once every hour, and you could eat dinner and sip cocktails while it went around.

There were even postcards of it that you could mail home:

By the time Daniel and Armand visited the decor had been updated, and looked something closer to this:

So just imagine the surrealism of Daniel downing glass after glass of wine and having Armand have to help his drunk ass down off this thing, all while he goes through an emotional crisis over finding Armand hot when he laughs.

It’s no wonder they ended up together, Daniel is the only person wild enough to decide to go to dinner alone in the kind of bizarre place Armand would be attracted to.

it’s my least favorite time where i beg for money on the internet bc we live in a capitalist hellscape. tldr it would be amazing if folks could help me pay for gas to get to work today (aiming for around $25.)

basically, i’ve been off work for a significant chunk of the last two-ish months because i had surgery and then got covid, and since i’m not salaried and don’t have sick time, if i don’t work i don’t get paid. all in all, i lost out on around $1000 worth of missed work. i’m not trying to make all that up, because i’ve been able to mostly stay afloat, but i have to go back to work today and i have -$9 in my bank account and no gas in my car, and my next paycheck for the remote work i was able to do doesn’t hit till tomorrow, so i just need enough to get to and from work today.

the housing market in new enlagnd is great. Would you like to pay $900 a month plus utilities to live in one bedroom in a neurotic nursing majors condo in Massachusetts that's a 20 minute drive away from any and all amenities? No? How about $750 (plus utilities) to live in a shack in a mean Vermont artist's yard? It has a camp toilet and if you want to use the kitchen inside you have to put in a request two weeks in advance and walk along a tape line and not touch the walls. And they will make you turn out you pockets before you leave. Not really scratching that itch for you? How about a 1200square foot studio apartment in walking distance of expensive bars the snooty co-op and nothing else, nonsmoking no pets no overnight guests no men with beards no parking space vinyl floors griege walls coin operated laundry half bath kitchenette single occupant only. The landlord reserves the right to rifle through your drawers when you're at work. And how much are they asking for this jewel? This mecca? A cool cool $2500/month
