I drew today! Hooray! I wanted to do more art but Squint and I got caught up prototyping a game instead and honestly. It was worth it. It was fun as fuck and we made so much progress with design in just a couple of hours of us sitting down with a placeholder board and some malifaux models, a space marine and a hordes model in place of a 'shark'. We've been tossing ideas back and forth for a while, and this is a project I've headed from a visdev sense since 2016. That's wild to think about.

Anyway, here's some old art for fun.

What do you think if someone knocks on the door of Cat, Laila, and Jean's new apartment, and Jeremy opens it, very surprised because it's late, and Cody stands there looking gloomy?

And then Cody fakes a smile and says,

"Hi, Captain. Sorry to interrupt. Hey… is Jean in?" Jean, of course, comes out from behind Jeremy, and the two look into each other's eyes without much communication. "Maybe you were right," Cody says.

No one understands, but Jean says,

"We were going to have dinner. We have food for more people. Come on," and Jean invites Cody in.

Jeremy, Cat, and Laila are very happy that Cody came there, although they don't understand what's going on. Whatever it is, only Jean seems to know, and Cody only came there to be with Jean.

When they finish dinner, Jean and Cody go out onto the porch and talk for a long time. Jean says Cody is staying over. They still don't know what's going on, but Jeremy can't take his eyes off this Jean who comforts Cody and has become someone else's confidant.

Jeremy can't stop smiling in admiration.

Not as comprehensive design-wise as Silver was, but here's my take on a merhog Shadow ✨ Still some sort of half-alien experiment, but now his Chaos energy is just plain old nuclear radiation.

An aggressive merhog who haunts the remains of a deep sea research facility after an explosion wiped it out. He's the only one who can survive being in the exclusion zone, so it's been difficult for him to find new friends. (and food, but he's surviving off the radiation well enough)

You got out of bed and instinctively grabbed your phone from the other side of the bed. Cold as always.

You turned it on, and the brightness hit your eyes for a few seconds, squinting until you could adjust and lower the screen's intense glow.

"October 20, 2025" you looked at today's date, frowning as that overwhelming feeling washed over you again, the one that wrapped around your body every time you checked the date.

Since October 14 at 1:42 in the afternoon, you'd felt a tingling sensation all over your body, your senses on high alert in a way you’d never experienced before. You didn’t know why, but from that day on, every time you woke up, you felt overwhelmed and extremely anxious.

You’d gotten into the habit of visiting your mother-in-law's house to try and find some comfort while distracting yourself by talking with her and Sebastian's siblings.

They had helped you a lot when everyone was grieving after the devastating news from 12 years ago. It took you a long time to come to terms with his death and even longer to move on, though you were still working on that last part.

Anyway.

You went over to your mother-in-law's house, and Valeria, Sebastian's older sister, greeted you.

You talked a bit about what you’d both been up to, complaining about different things, sharing a bit of this and that.

It was 7:50 PM when it suddenly felt like a thousand needles were piercing your throat and someone had shot you in the chest. Everything around you seemed to go silent, your body shaking, and even breathing felt like a challenge rather than something simple.

You wrapped your arms around yourself in a desperate attempt to find comfort, to tell yourself everything was fine without even knowing what was wrong.

Tears started falling, one after another, not stopping for even a second. You could feel hands shaking you, trying to bring you back to reality, but you couldn’t focus on anything. The overwhelming feeling, the crisis, the pain you were experiencing was just too much.

"Sebastian, I’m here." You weren’t sure if you whispered it, said it out loud, or simply thought it. The tears kept coming.

You cried your heart out, like someone had ripped away someone you loved for the second time, only this time, it felt final.

Not to be that person but

The Wardance event really had Luka and Yanqing reflect each other. I feel like we got a speedrun of vaguely similar events that happen to Yanqing occur to Luka here. Like while being really good, he gets hit with obstacle after obstacle that shakes his confidence and willpower. Yet, when it comes down to it, Luka boxes because he loves it and it makes him feel happy and free.

"The most important thing is to always throw the next punch."

To work towards self-improvement, to love what you do, they both share that sentiment.

These two really felt like protagonists from different yet similar genres lol

Season 2 Juan Hopes

I wanna see him be a fairy god parent to a kid who has self esteem issues

Because Juan’s who arc is self love and being confident in himself

So maybe he has a god kid who’s like chubby, not a traditional cute kid, and just over all self conscious so he helps the kid have self love and learn that social beauty standards are shit and they are a LITERAL KID so most issues are out grown or changed

It would build off of his whole “do you think I’m sexy” trope and make it into something that’s like. Good and useful and actually have depth

I want my Juan to have a redemption arc of sorts. Maybe he and Blonda hooked up or Juan has a proper partner now ((because Jesus it better not be Cupid because they fucked his shit up

Honestly re: women’s hockey coverage that gets more in forth about the hockey side of things, I do get bummed out because over the years I’ve met and read the work of so many people who were really great women’s hockey analysts who’ve all had to move on to men’s hockey or another job because there’s just no one willing to pay them to write about women’s hockey, even though it’s what they wanted to do.
