I saw an interesting YouTube video from This is Antwon earlier today talking about the Adidas brand Y-3. Honestly I forgot about the brand and those first Sports Brand/Designer collaborations that Adidas dominated with. If you remember there were multiple collabs including Yohji Yamamoto (2001) and Stella McCartney (2004) were born along with exciting labels such as Y-3 (2003) and Porsche Design Sport (2007). All defunct now except Y-3. It got me thinking… Y-3 was COVETED until the mid 2010’s. Yeezy launched February 2015 and since has been the cash cow of their partnerships. As This Is Antwon talked through the video I couldn’t help but think why is Y-3 so irrelevant? The brands use of technical fabrications and sports styling was top tier. Not to mention Yohji Yamamotos original collab being the catalyst for Y-3’s brand styling codes. All in all this poised a question in my head and I brought it here. Do you think Yeezy killed Y-3?

Haus im Tal Enjoy what is often a long, golden autumn in one of Europe’s historic cultural capitals - Munich - and find respite at one of the fifty rooms at newish kid on the block ‘Haus im Tal’. At ‘Haus im Tal’ the decor is modern with an emphasis on clean lines and designer collaborations. Julie Richoz is the name of the young French designer who conceived the minimalist hand-woven kilims used as wallhangings in the bedrooms as part of the ‘Haus im Tal X Reuber Henning’ collaboration. The hotel offers lots of little “quirks” simple things like a shopping bag in the room that's free to use while you stay (it can also be purchased) but it's free to use. Music in the bathroom with volume control, an “on the house” leaving drink on your last night delivered with an ice bucket and still and sparkling water replaced daily and room cleaned each day. Much of the centre of Munich was flattened towards the end of the war but the neo-Gothic showpiece - the ‘Rathaus’ or town hall - still dominates the central Marienplatz and the city’s many treasures were reinstalled (largely intact) to its outstanding museums. Among the many highlights is the city’s fabulous art gallery the ‘Alte Pinakothek’ which reopened in the Summer of 2018 having been transformed by a four-year restoration programme. The 'Munich Opera House’ is among the world’s best - the city is passionate about its music, and tickets are significantly cheaper than in London. ’Haus im Tal’ combines cutting-edge technology with old-fashioned hospitality to offer a new kind of travel experience in central Munich.
