Live stream happened, and we got some designs revealed! As well as a couple of information, but not anything major.

Miss conductor, not much of a surprise (but miss girl looks gorgeous as always)

And Node, who is sort of the main antagonist.
I made a prediction before, and April 21 hit,.. so I believe it is well due for an update by now.
While we did not receive nearly as much information as we were anticipating, a design still reveals much on the character itself when going through the lens of a general analysis. In this context, their abilities and name aid significantly in the status and essential depths of their character.
With what I can gather in my research, nodes play an important role in networking because they are the building blocks of a network, precisely the gateway for connection, direction, sending, creating, receiving, and storing data. It requires only software to connect to the network, and it can be run by completely anyone. Applying this knowledge with concept arts of the game and overall worldbuilding of the series itself—everything becomes a lot clearer.
So now, how can we apply this to Node?
Node's name is simple in itself, and it connects to their design as well. They are quite literally made up of nodes. One in their head and the other in their limbs. Their body is translucent.
Network nodes are categorical. Thanks to DJ, we got a helpful hint that incredibly reduced their types to a digestible and simpler layout.
Their name starts with i.
There are countless forms and types of nodes, the hint condensed it down to 2 answers, both starting with the letter “i”
Intermediate nodes
These include devices like routers and switches that help direct data to the correct destination while also receiving it. They don't originate or terminate data but instead pass it along to where it needs to go.
IoT nodes
loT (Internet of Things) Nodes serve as devices that establish connectivity to the Internet via a gateway, effectively enabling the integration of the physical world into the vast realm of the Internet. Within an loT ecosystem, these nodes function as crucial components for bridging the gap between the physical and virtual worlds. Taking charge of managing the entire loT system.
We had seen this ability before vía King's icons' staff, in which it only sucked in Minecraft mobs due to the strong force being their obligatory origin, overriding the game itself due to the overlapping icons.
In regards to King, he used this ability for the very destruction of the game itself, down to the code, reducing it to nothing but.. nothing for the sake of vengeance. Or at least what would have occurred if he did succeed.
way to go CG! Give credit where it's due
Despite this being marked with the intention of erasion and minimization, I think it's safe to group this as receiving and storing data. The two icons combined created a horrifically dramatized version of the force with storing and receiving, which created an incredibly overpowered demolishing force.
In Chosen, we had seen this ability before as well, as the constellations are seen right as he creates the gateway from the Outernet, which sounds awfully familiar. This is what you would refer to as an "extension to the digital world"
I think I can be able to safely group this to direction and creation.

From how I see it, it seems as though it's quite diverse in a fictional worldbuilding sense within characters.
And obviously, it won't be the last time we would see it. It seems as though we would be exploring this quite a lot.

In their cameo, Node is in an assumed line-up with all the major series antagonists.
But if you’re asking me, it seems as though our iconic antagonists appear to be rather victims of Node. Menacingly behind them, their abilities floating not far behind as they're stuck in a swampy substance. But that's just me.
Node's entire antagonistic ordeal is beyond my grasp, but I'm assuming their abilities and attacks surrounds the embodiment of network topology, which would mold and diverse into the connections of nodes. They possibly intend to screw up with the gateways that are responsible for the receiving, directing, and sending of data between various devices through communication links that are defined as network—with the basic visuals of concept art we were given.
(The gateway, ethernet tunnels, the train cough cough)
Node's goal and story behind that destruction remains anonymous, as the writing is still in early development. Regardless, food for thought.
#alan becker#animation vs minecraft#animator vs animation#animation versus#nerd voyage#it's pretty interesting#though my research is still ongoing#when i say it's diverse..#yeah it's diverse alright

Special thanks to @pastafossa for permission to write this alternate take on your story and for beta-reading this chapter.
Chapter 1: Breaking and Entering
So this is the Big Apple, you thought as you walked out of the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Maybe someone else would have found the shift from the relative quiet of the Greyhound bus to the chaos of the terminal and the bustling street outside overwhelming. You saw it as a sanctuary. You plunged into the sea of people that you hoped to disappear into. Just another tourist marveling at the skyscrapers, painted gold by the setting sun. Just another transplant from nowhere looking for a fresh start, a place where they could shed their past and become someone new.
Being a needle in a haystack isn't a terrible approach, you mused to yourself as you settled onto a subway train. It has served you well over the last decade and some change. But always, always, the past came knocking like the inconsiderate bastard that it was and burnt your haystack to the ground. Which was why this time, you were going to be a needle in a needle stack. Thousands of people came to New York City everyday. If there was anywhere in the world where you would be just another face in the crowd, it ought to be here.
Please, you plead with whatever cosmic force looked out for people like you. Give me a couple of months here.
You were so tired. You haven't stopped moving for the last three months. He had gotten too close in Tampa. Far too close, you remembered with a shudder. You had managed to get away but it hadn't been clean. The resulting paranoia had you ditching all your planned next location options. They could be compromised. So you laid false trails to them and elsewhere while you roamed with no particular destination in mind. Eeny-meeny-miny-moe to pick a direction. Deciding on how much to pay for a plane or bus ticket based on the price of Twinkies at the last Stop-n-Slip you had been in. Stealing a car from long-term parking at the airport. Accepting a ride from two guys in a 67 Chevy Impala to anywhere but here.
It had eventually pointed your wandering feet toward New York City. A place where you ought to be to vanish for a few months. A place where you could rest and regain your strength. Just one more false trail, you promised yourself. Then I can rest.
<scene break>
And done, you thought as you finished altering the passenger manifest of a plane to show one Katherine Monroe boarding at JFK on a flight bound for Dallas-Fort Worth. It was such a shame that said airport was going to be experiencing glitches in their security cameras and boarding software that will make it impossible to know if Ms. Monroe caught the connecting flight to El Paso or not. It was equally unlucky that certain cameras here at JFK were down for maintenance for the last hour and wouldn't be operational again for at least another hour.
All of which should have your pursuers chasing their tails for a while. It wasn't unusual for you to book a flight with a layover, then skip the connecting flight to head out in entirely the opposite direction. Or the same general direction but with a different city in mind. It also wouldn't be unusual for you to go through the entire journey, connecting flights and all. Let them wonder if you had disappeared into Dallas or gone all the way to El Paso and took advantage of its proximity to the border to slip into Mexico again. Or the directions pointing south was a red herring and your actual goal was the border with Canada.
Which had been tempting. There was a lot of sparsely populated wilderness along the US-Canada border, a rugged terrain where, with the right skills, you could lead anyone hunting you around by their noses for years. Maybe after the forest ate a sufficient number of them, they'd take the hint and leave you the fuck alone.
You snorted. Not gonna happen. The very idea that you had beaten Him simply did not compute. He would never accept it. Never stop hunting you or Twenty as long as He was alive. Therefore the hunters were never stop searching.
And I can never stop running, never truly be free, you thought bitterly. The best you'd get was a few months of rest in a place where no one could really know you. I'll always be alone. You took a deep breath, then swallowed down the ache and exhaustion. You weren't going to cry. He had already stolen enough of your tears.
You stowed your laptop back into your bag. Time to go. While this chain coffee shop had taken care of your hunger, you still needed to find shelter and a shower. Not necessarily in that order.
<scene break>
Hours later, you were reconsidering staying in New York. It had been hot and muggy when you arrived but you had hoped that as night fell, it would cool off. No such luck. The sun had disappeared but the heat remained. Even the criminals and the working girls seem to have fled the streets in search of air that wasn't thick as syrup.
"And just as sticky," you grumbled to yourself as you trudged up the stairs. You were in decent shape but six flights of stairs in this heat had left you dripping wet with sweat. Adding that to the grime of more than a week's travel with only bathroom sinks to wash in left you feeling even grosser than you already felt before starting this quest for a shower.
A hotel room likely had a shower but they also cost money. Money that you were starting to run short of. Well, short of money on your person. You had money squirreled away in secret accounts but getting that cash in your hands tonight would be…difficult. You never moved the money in your secret accounts into one of your public accounts without engaging in a misdirecting trail of false transfers and dummy accounts to confuse those hunting you. A process that took time and concentration, both of which were difficult to come by when you were tired and itchy from sweat.
Your other preferred methods ofer, acquiring…fast funds either also required same concentration or were hampered by the late hour. There were less preferred methods but those were also much higher risk. Especially in this city. Even the few hours you had spent in the city had been enough to hear about the mysterious vigilante who roamed Hell's Kitchen aka the very streets you were perched above right now. This 'Man in Black' is rapidly becoming a thorn in the side of the Russian mob but he had made his distaste for unorganized criminals loud and clear. Call you a coward but you'd rather not get your ass kicked tonight, thank you very much.
But as mentioned, you needed a shower and somewhere to sleep. It's hard to get a legal job when you look like you haven't slept or bathed much for more than a week. Ask you how you know. But you also couldn't afford to be put in the hospital or a jail cell. Not if you wanted to keep what little freedom and life you had. Maybe you should find a different neighborhood to attempt this in but everywhere else you had looked so far had been busier, with too many potential witnesses…
Besides it couldn't hurt to look. Nothing illegal about looking.
You made yourself as comfortable as you could be sitting on the roof in this heat, took a deep breath, then opened your third eye. For lack of a better term. What you had read online didn't quite match your experience but it was closer than anything else you had found.
The sensation was impossible to fully describe. You had tried on those nights when you couldn't sleep. It felt a bit like blinking open your eyes after a long nap but also like relaxing a muscle that had been held in tension too long at the same time and like finally getting to relieve your full bladder all at the same time and happening in the center of your forehead. And then you could see.
White unfurled around you, shining as bright as the sun at midday. It stung and made your eyes water. After a moment, the brightness dimmed to something closer to moonlight, allowing you to see the individual threads flapping and coiling in the air like ribbons dancing with the wind. Except it wasn't the wind moving these threads.
Part of that movement was that the people attached to them were moving but even when someone was still, their threads kept moving. The only time you had even seen someone's threads stop was the moment they died. The threads would freeze then every strand of theirs would turn a dull gray before falling limply to pool around their person. The only movement and sign of life being the blue-gray threads belonging to those left behind.
The dimming also allows you to see their true colors. Aside from the aforementioned blue-gray and white, threads of red, blue, green, orange, and yellow in every conceivable shade painted the city and its people with vibrant color. Over the years, you have learned what the different colors mean. Blues were for connections to objects, anything that wasn't alive and they ranged from soft powder blue for something new to the rich hue of lapis lazuli for a person's most cherished possession. The other colors were seemingly reserved for the living. Anything from butter yellow to vibrant red signified a bond of mutual affection between one person and another person or an animal. The stronger the bond, the redder their shared thread became. And if that affection was one-sided? Then the thread was green. And like the other threads, the more vibrant the hue, the stronger that feeling was.
You always felt bad for anyone with a forest green thread. It must be so painful to be so in love with someone who doesn't love you back.
It took a moment to sort out the threads. There weren't many coming from the building under your feet. Which you expected since it was nearly empty. That was not the case with the buildings on either side of you. Your fingers skimmed the surface of each thread, not deep enough to see the roads within but enough to feel. Whispers of emotions that weren't your own but washed over you just the same. You discarded the threads pulsing with safe-warm-happy of the peacefully sleeping along with the discomfort-cold-wet-fear of the shadows from children and pulse-pounding throb of lust-want-love from couples having sex until you found what you were searching for. A bundle of threads that radiated that mixture of concentration and impatience-to-be-done that you associated with someone working. The bundle contained an unusual amount of green threads that spread across the neighborhood like a spider’s web. The only people you had ever met with so many green threads had been paramedics or firemen. Someone who saved people’s lives. Whoever this person, they had done something to forge connections with so many people in this place, creating threads that ranged from soft mint to deep emerald green. So many that they nearly hide the other threads. The most prominent was a white, thick and heavy as rope that seemed to sink into the ground but there was healthy scattering of blues that trailed into the apartment building to your right along with a couple of pale yellows and fiery oranges that headed elsewhere. Buried in the middle, so deep that you almost missed, a single scarlet red thread.
You pushed down your envy with the ease of long practice. There was no point in getting jealous. It wasn't this person's vault that they had something you could never have. Because as much as you longed for someone to love you that fiercely…having that kind of bond with someone was too dangerous. Both for you and whatever poor soul you'd inflict yourself on. The things that He would do….You couldn't do that to someone. You weren't that much of a monster.
You shook your head and focused on the task at hand. Namely selecting one of these pretty blue threads to slip into and see if the resident of that apartment really was near the Hudson River like it appeared they were. A yellow or orange thread would be easier but all of them were headed away from the main bundle, not toward it. Which meant whoever those threads were connected to, they weren't with this person right now but if you were being honest, you preferred using blue threads. It was harder but it was far less intimate. Blue threads contained far less emotions and memories than the others.
You grabbed the thread that had the truest, most vibrant blue. The emotions seeping out of it tasted bittersweet, love and grief in equal measure. Reaching into the thread would have been easier with the object in question but not impossible. You don't know how long you sat there, the thread in your hands before it happened.
What happened exactly was just as difficult to describe as opening your third eye. Physically you remained seated on the roof, the thread gripped firmly in your right hand. But mentally….it felt like you had pressed against a door. One that had been stuck fast but after some pushing and shoving, the door gave way and you stumbled out onto a street.
Or least you thought it was a street. This inside-the-thread space usually appeared as a street to you. And while you could feel pavement under your feet and heard cars speeding past you, it was so dark. The only source of light was a flicker of flames all around that seemed to take the shape of…buildings? And, you squinted, the cars? The fire didn't illuminate the darkness so much as it highlighted it. It didn't help that the flames kept fluctuating. Every sound or shift in the air caused the flames to either grew dimmer or become more intense. The later gave you brief glimpses of finer details on the buildings. The former left you standing in pitch blackness unable to see your hand in front of your face.
You inched toward the nearest building, a squat thing that hugged the ground. It didn't get any clearer as you approached. Well, not in the visual sense. Far more prominent was the smell — the pungent odor of sweat, leather, the sharp astringency of iodine and muscle balm, the sweet cooper of blood, the vaguely minty scent of Irish Spring soap along the faint elements of a man's cologne. Just as strong were the sounds - the rhythmic thump of fists striking a punching bag, grunts and the murmur of a man's voice. It was too low for you to make out the words over a steady beating drum.
You didn't go inside. It wasn't necessary. You just needed to confirm this person's location, not snoop on their memories related to the connected object sheltered in that low building. And all you needed to do to accomplish that particular goal was simply walk down the street.
Which, admittedly, was easier said than done. The flames helped but this darkness was incredibly disorienting. Eventually, you got yourself turned in what was (hopefully) the right direction and started walking. Albeit, far more slowly than your usual ground-eating stride. This street might not be 'real' in the strictest sense of the word but it felt real. Real enough to make you worry about tripping. Real enough to trigger old anxieties about who or what was in the shadows, waiting and watching…always watching…
You firmly shoved those memories back into the tightly locked box where they belonged. You were not going to think about that, not going to remember it. You didn't need to remember it. That part of your life is over.
The street never got any brighter. You suspected that it never would. Whoever this person is, their world was made of fire and shadows. Part of you wanted to know why but you set aside your curiosity for the same reason you stayed outside of the buildings. You didn't need to know. It was none of your business. You were violating enough of this person's privacy just being here. A trespass that you were intending to compound by entering their home without their knowledge or permission. The least you could do was not poke around their mind anymore than necessary.
Marking the passage of time inside a thread was all but impossible. But eventually, you felt things shift. It remained just as dark as before but everything else intensified. You could smell water…old rotting wood…cigarette smoke and gun oil…something sharp that you couldn't identify…so many things that you had no idea what they were…could hear male voices filled with contempt…a cacophony of drums…felt the neverending heat, the sweat rolling down your back, the familiar but still irritating scratchiness of cotton blend…and the simmering rage, the pure unaltered fury at those who dared to harm his people…
You stumbled back and found yourself back in your own body, shaking and dizzy. What the fuck was that? Why was everything in his mind so damn loud? You had encountered people with sensory issues before but never with that level of intensity. And the overwhelming force of his emotions…Who is this guy?!
It was enough to make you briefly reconsider picking this particular apartment for your shower. But you were tired. Your nose was dripping blood. The pressure at your temples warned of an oncoming migraine. You still felt gross. And you still had to find somewhere to sleep tonight…
He's clearly busy, you told yourself. Doing what, you had no idea. And in all honesty, weren't sure that you wanted to know. But it seemed like something that would keep him occupied. Certainly occupied long enough for you to pop in, take a quick shower, and bounce.
Sweetening the temptation was that apparently whoever had last used the roof access door hadn't closed it properly. The lighting up here wasn't great but that obnoxious billboard on the far side of the other building was more than bright enough to make the open door. If you get onto that roof, you could bypass the buzzer on the front door. Okay, you weren't certain that there was a buzzer intercom at that door. But given how common that feature was in this city, it seemed a fair assumption to make.
The gap between this building and the one you needed to get to didn't look too far…that you'd fall six stories to your death (if you were lucky) if you were wrong did give you a moment's pause but you'd still be There if you weren't willing to take some risks to get what you want.
It was probably a sign of how messed up your brain was that running full speed toward that gap, then jumping had you grinning like a loon. Even after you landed on the other roof with all the grace of a drunk cat, earning yourself bruises that you were going to be feeling in the morning, you couldn't stop grinning.
That was kinda fun, you thought. Scary but fun. It might just be adrenaline speaking but maybe you should add parkour to your to-learn list. Wouldn't that be a nasty surprise for the people hunting you?
Despite your growing headache, you needed to open your third eye again. Fortunately making sure you went to the right apartment wouldn't require actually diving in this time. You just needed to follow the thread itself. The initial brightness made pain stab through your brain like a knife but you gritted your teeth and waited for both to subside. Which they did and soon you were following the azure thread through the open door.
You had expected the door to take you to a hallway. Instead you found yourself in a loft, looking down at what was clearly someone's living room. Luck was with you in that it was the right living room as the azure thread in your hand disappeared into a closet under the stairs that bridged said living room and the loft. Good, you thought as you closed your third eye. If you had to break into someone's house, you preferred to do it when they weren't home. Especially when it was this late at night. You preferred not to get shot. Getting shot sucked.
You didn't look for the light switch. First, since you weren't wearing gloves, you needed to avoid touching anything that you didn't have to. Getting the police to dust for prints would be extreme to find someone who hadn't actually stolen anything from you but some people were just that petty. You had no doubt that He had your prints flagged in every database in the country. Second, you didn't need it. There was more than enough light coming in from outside. Weird thread or not, you hoped this guy had good blackout curtains for his bedroom because cheese and crackers is that billboard bright.
It didn't take long to find the bathroom. There you did need to turn on the lights. The bathroom was a little plain but the shower was huge, easily big enough for two or more people. The towels were plain white, like the ones in hotels, except these looked much softer. It was shockingly neat for what was, as far as you could tell, the home of a single man. There wasn't a single item out of place.
You gave silent thanks that your mystery man was a neat freak. His tidiness was saving you a significant amount of time that you might have otherwise wasted searching for a towel, washcloths, and soap. You sat your bag on the counter. You'd fish out your cleanest clothes afterward. Which weren't very clean, you admitted to yourself with a grimace. But there wasn't anything you could do about that. You hadn't been able to do laundry. Your rushed exit from Tampa meant the only clothing you had was what's in the bag and what you had been wearing that day. Which didn't leave you with a lot of clothing options.
You turned on the shower, then peeled off your sweat-soaked clothing and dropped them into a single pile. Words could not describe how good it felt to take all that off, especially the bra. Stepping under the spray felt just as good in a different way. Mystery Man favored unscented soap but beggars could hardly be choosers. Plain soap at least smelled good. It was more than you could say for the beauty products your last identity used, which smelled entirely too much like Vick's Vapor Rub. And not just to you - more than one person had asked if you were feeling well during the ten months you had lived in Tampa.
The shampoo was also unscented. You hadn't known there was such a thing as unscented shampoo. Soap, yes, but shampoo and conditioner always seem to have some kind of smell added to it. Plain or not, it lathered up well and did a beautiful job washing out a couple weeks worth of grime out of your hair. And it all felt so good that you had to just stand underneath the spray for a moment, close your eyes and let yourself relax. Just for a moment…
Until there was a loud knock on the door and an unfamiliar male voice, hard and uncompromising, said, "When you're done showering, you're going to tell me why you are in my home."
You were frozen, finding yourself unable to move and unable to make a sound. Even when the man opened the bathroom door, you still couldn't get yourself to move. Not even to attempt to cover yourself. Your heart only beat faster when you see the man's reflection in the mirror. Lean, hard muscle poured into an entirely black outfit - shirt, pants, boots, gloves, and....a mask. You bite down hard on your bottom lip to stifle a whimper.
"Here are some sweats for when you are finished," the man continued, setting down the bundle of clothing that you only just realized was in one hand. That same hand darted out and grabbed your bag. Then without another word, he went back out the door and closed it.
The Man in the Black…fuck, fuck! And he had said that this is his home? Fuck, fuck, fuck! Of all the apartments in Hell's Kitchen, you had to pick the one that belonged to the vigilante? Fuck!
How had he snuck up on you? The shower drowned out a lot of sound but that bottom step creaked loud enough to wake the dead! So did several of the floorboards. And why had he, apparently, run back home? He had felt so busy...
Your mind raced, looking for an escape but there wasn't one. The door was the only way out of this bathroom. And he had your bag. Your go-bag with all the supplies you needed. Without it, you weren't just trapped in this bathroom. You were trapped in this city, unable to run until you made a new one….What if He found you before then? This time you couldn't stop the thin, terrified whine from escaping your mouth.
You did your best to swallow that fear and took a deep breath. Then another and another until you no longer felt like the walls collapsing in on you. You could breathe. You could do this. You could convince the Man in Black to let you go. You could convince him to give you back your go-bag.
Your hands shook as you turned off the shower. And keep shaking while you dried yourself off, distantly aware that the towels were even softer and fluffier than they looked. And they looked pretty fluffy. Now you just had to get dressed and your choices were your own clothes or the ones supplied by the Man in Black.
Pro for your own clothes — they were yours so no potential complications that might come from 'borrowing' the Man in Black's sweats. Con - they reeked. Pro for MIB's sweats — they were clean. Con - MIB will probably expect you to return them. Or would expect you to do certain things in exchange for the 'favor.'
Well he can expect anything he wants, doesn't mean he's gonna get it, you thought, your temper flaring. You welcomed the anger. Anger was an old, familiar friend. Anger had been there for you as long as you could remember, the fire that kept you moving when all you wanted to do was cry.
And if MIB tries to pull that crap…, you thought. Well, it wouldn't be the first time I've taught someone that no means no.
You grabbed the sweats, your hands steady once again as you pulled them on. Wearing your own clothes, smelly and still uncomfortably damp, might distract you. That was unacceptable. The sweats were clean. And comically oversized but you pulled the drawstring on the pants tight to keep them up. There wasn't much you could do about the shirt but it was sleeveless so at least you didn't need to worry about rolling up the sleeves to keep your hands free.
You faced the door and took one more deep breath. Then you walked out of the bathroom with your head held high. I might be down but I'm not out.
MIB was waiting for you in the living room, positioned to easily intercept any attempt on your part to reach the front door or the roof access door. Which was a little disappointing. It's always so much easier when your opponents were dumb. Your bag was sitting on a coffee table, unzipped but otherwise untouched. You hadn't remained in the bathroom long enough for him to have looked through the entire bag but enough for him to have seen something suspicious.
"Have a seat," MIB ordered.
You stuck out your chin, jaw tight. "I'd rather stand."
"Suit yourself," MIB said with a shrug. "I have a few questions. I expect honest answers. And fair warning, I will know if you are lying to me."
I'm sure, you mentally scoffed. You had played this game before.
He took your silence as agreement. "What's your name?"
"Mary Smith," you said, giving the name you had chosen to go by. Technically you had used it before but it was so common, so generic that finding you among all of the real Mary Smiths was all but impossible.
MIB scowled. "Lie. What's your name?"
"Mary Smith," you repeated.
MIB growled, then stomped over to you. He loomed over you, making you viscerally aware that he was a powerfully built man. One with a growing reputation for inflicting incredible violence. His lips pulled back into a snarl, then he said, voice low but full of barely restrained fury. "Do not lie to me. What is your name?"
You weren't going to lie to yourself that he wasn't frightening you. He was. Your heart is pounding and you could feel a cold sweat breaking out. But you stood your ground. He was hardly the first man to threat you. "Mary Smith is the only name you are getting from me. Take it or leave it."
Another growl but apparently he wasn't willing to hit you over what name you were using. "So 'Mary', why did you break into my apartment?"
"To take a shower," you said.
"Nothing else? Weren't gonna steal my laptop?"
"No," you said.
This seemed to throw him a little. His head tilted to one side. "Something else?"
"Maybe a banana?" you said. It had been hours since that muffin at the coffee place. And using your abilities was hungry work.
"That's it? A shower and some food is all you were after?"
"Yep."
"No one sent you? You aren't working for anyone?"
"No."
This really seemed to throw him. He frowned then stepped back, giving you more space even as he stared at you with an intensity you had never experienced. It felt like he could see right through you. "You weren't trying to figure out who I am?" "No," you said. "Didn't even know that you existed until a few hours ago. I just got here."
He nodded, his body language turning more…relaxed wasn't the right word. There was still too much predatory energy for relaxed. Less hostile, perhaps? He was certainly radiating far less menace than he had been a minute ago.
"But you are running from someone."
"What makes you say that?"
MIB gestured toward the coffee table. "IDs, cash, clothes, hair dye, knife, medical supplies —it's a go bag. All of your things reek of stress and fear. Who are you running from?"
"Doesn't matter," you said, though part of your mind noted the peculiar wording.
"Tell me," MIB said. In a sharp contrast to moments before, his voice was now gentle and kind. "I can help you."
You couldn't help it. You laughed. It wasn't a happy laugh. It was bitter, hopeless. "No one can help me."
"I can." MIB said, confident and sure of himself. Probably because he had no idea what he was up against. And proved it with his next question. "Who is after you? The police? Drug cartel? Ex husband?
You shook your head. "Doesn't matter."
"It does. Tell me so I can help you," he said, almost pleading. "I promise I'll protect you."
Even with half his face covered, he looked so earnest. And you couldn't help but feel touched by his offer. He didn't know you. Didn't know what he was promising. Couldn't know who he was pitting himself against. It was something that only one other person had ever done for you.
"No, you can't," you said, your voice barely above a whisper. If the Ferryman wasn't powerful enough….
"Mary —"
"I can't tell you." Your mind unwillingly conjures the knowledge of what would happen to anyone who tried to help you. "I can't."
MIB sighed, a deeply frustrated sound, but he let it go. "Do you have somewhere to sleep tonight?"
"No?" You said.
"Well, you do now. My bed is through that door." He pointed behind you.
You shifted, uneasy. "I don-"
"Don't be afraid," he said. "I'll be sleeping on the couch."
"But-"
"Please," he said. "If you wouldn't let me help you, at least let me give you somewhere safe to sleep tonight."
You considered it, torn. You didn't know this man, didn't really trust him, but you were tired. Beyond tired. You haven't had a good night's sleep since you left Tampa. You didn't really want to look somewhere else or sleep outside again. "Okay."

Secure Connection
As promised: more Posie!! I wrote this one toward the end of last Spring after a couple of conversations with friends regarding the malleability of digital bodies (as well as still having Many Thoughts about the way code can give them new compulsions, after writing something about Annie and a new taur-shaped chassis for a friend's Patreon). Enjoy reading about her dealing with a corporate-mandated "hardware" update!
CW: Genital TF, this is another one that's As About Sex as it can possibly be without being about sex
Posie sat, sulking—steaming, even—in her office. It was a small side room off of the main floor of IT personnel, system engineers, and other technical employees of her corporation. Much like a central server, it was placed for easy access to the department-wide administrative assistant, and much like a server room, it was snug, windowless, and awash with the calming drone and relaxing warmth of an array of exhaust fans. Though she was free to project herself nearly anywhere on the company’s campus, this was where her consciousness was housed, and where she felt most at home. It was also the only place she could get any damn privacy, a luxury that she was deeply grateful for at present.
A newly-downloaded file weighed on the back of the Renamon’s mind. More literally, it was somewhere in the racks of drives that made up her long-term memory, to and from which mission-critical information was transferred in the course of doing business. Had somebody asked where exactly the file was stored, she would have been able to list the specific drive and the exact directory address, but she had de-prioritized the allocation of her processing resources for the download. Once again, she had received an assignment from her superiors, and once again, she was hesitant. She may even have admitted to being recalcitrant. She resented the orders.
The package of data in question was an update for her own software, a suite of new tools to allow management to offload yet more menial tasks onto her in the name of “efficiency”. Forget that she could diagnose a software issue faster than any of the engineers could even open a remote connection to the malfunctioning device. Instead of allowing her to take the reins, they saw fit to divert more of her attention to the least impressive among talents, and the one she already put to use the most often: transferring data.
This wouldn’t have been much of a problem, ordinarily. After all, Posie resided in the beating heart of the network, the nexus through which the vast majority of information was sent and received. It could be… meditative. Parsing streams of ones and zeroes, overseeing the flow of packets, redirecting traffic to equally spread the load across modems and routers so as to optimize travel time. It could even have been considered relaxing, if a worker of her caliber needed to relax. Instead of offering her a vacation (pah!), however, the update felt more like it heralded a demotion, denying her even the ability to pluck like harpstrings the miles of copper and gold that lined her facility. She was expected to deliver this data on foot.
Management justified this humiliation with practical concerns: some information, much like the old records she was often tasked to dispose of, was so confidential that it could not be sent via wireless transmission. Even hardwired connections were too fallible for the likes of next-generation schematics and financial access keys—a single compromised workstation, or compromised worker, could spell the loss of the company’s upper hand in its market. She wasn’t even going to be afforded the dignity of carrying an external hard drive to the destination. That would require the slow and tedious process of physically moving from one place to the next; this was one of the only times that she regretted the freedom of movement that was so coveted by her flesh-and-blood peers.
With no room to make exceptions for security protocol, she gripped the edge of her desk, brow furrowing, eyes squinted shut in consternation. Eventually, she huffed, rose, and turned her attention to her “physical body”, summoning up the file in much the same way that one would approach a plate of food with a pungent odor. The Renamon steeled herself and began to more closely examine its contents. She read the raw code similarly to how one might read words on a page; however, where the turning gears of the organic mind would, almost unconsciously, conjure up an image as a result of those words, her mind kicked off a series of involuntary, autonomic processes.
Her body carried out the instructions on her behalf. Once she started, she had no control until she finally reached a stopcode; it was the nature of being a program herself that code had as much of an influence on her mind and body as her own thoughts, her own will. In opening the package, she reluctantly consented to the changes that management saw fit to make to her. It was better than the eventual forced-deadline sort of update that software companies were so keen on using nowadays, and at least choosing the time and place allowed her to make herself presentable again before having to face another person.
Having parts of her code—her very body—rewritten by the update was a strange sensation, not unlike having your thoughts dictated to you by an outside force. Stranger still was that she could feel the exact delineation between her previous self and the patches of… well, the patch. She could feel it quite strongly, as a matter of fact: beneath her skirt of simulated sky-blue fur, between her legs, she could feel her mesh being edited. Stretched. Reshaped. The vectors that made up the triangles of her wireframe soul were being rewritten, mathematically transformed. A shape began to protrude from the once-flat span at the bottom of her torso, at first round and indistinct, but quickly increasing in resolution.
The Renamon struggled to process the sensations as a long, slender connector began to take shape. This often happened with changes to her body plan; inputs streamed into her mind from directions, locations, that previously never sent any signals, and the new additions seldom had their sensitivity adjusted downward for her convenience. In this case, it was highly sensitive, delivering reams of data to the base of her skull just from brushing up against her own fur, or the gentle flow of air from the computers in her office. It made sense, given that it was supposed to be a high-capacity transfer tool, but she was too busy buckling at the knees and clutching at the desk behind her so she didn’t fall flat on her rear for the thought to occur to her.
Her processors demanded more cooling, kicking into high gear as they formatted the two new storage devices that accompanied the connector, tailor-made for packing confidential data as tightly as possible. The sound of whirring fans filled the room, stirring her fur and sending shivers up and down her back; she could only hope that the rushing exhaust made enough noise to drown her out, whimpering despite herself. The new drives were larger (and more unwieldy) than the ones that were built into her chest, much to her chagrin. She was forced to adjust her stance and her gait as she found her footing again, spreading her legs wider than she was accustomed in order to give them enough room.
The spinning in her head slowly settling down, she slowly began to compose herself once again, taking stock of the new additions. They were cumbersome, to be sure, and she lamented how they jutted out from her otherwise sleek form and burdened her with less-graceful posture. It didn’t even match her fur! The software engineers that had concocted the code had at least included one small mercy: a compartment for the connector to retract into, nestled in the fur above the storage drives. No such luck for the drives themselves. She supposed she would just have to adjust to walking with delicate hardware in tow. As she went to smooth her fur over her lap again, her paw recoiled away. Some kind of… static discharge was left in the fluff. A memory leak, perhaps? The fact that such a malfunction could be caused just from having the connector brush up against her fur appalled her, deepening her frustration even more. They couldn’t even test the update for bugs before shipping it out to her. She shook out her paw and finished arranging her skirt as best she could before working up the composure to finally leave her office.
Picking up the payload for which all this fanfare had been arranged was at least a quick, easy process. She stopped into the office of the manager that had assigned her the task; she offered a businesslike nod and, knowing that she was always itching to skip niceties in the name of saving time, he offered a straightforward wave at his personal terminal. She held a paw over the computer tower and, in the time it took for electricity to arc to her fingertip with a tinny zzzrt, she had already searched his directory for the relevant test files and copied them to the newly-installed drives. Wireless transfer, yes, but only technically. The engineers had specifically asked a member of another division, whose computer network wasn’t connected to their own; it was as though she had picked a folder up from his desk and walked out with it.
Moving the file was just as uneventful. It was far from the first time that she’d navigated the sprawling corporate property, and even if it were, the maps existed just outside the orbit of her thoughts, ready to be summoned to mind at a simple impulse. What she was not expecting, however, was the technician who was waiting in the server room to which she was asked to deliver the file. While she preferred to work in the isolation of rooms that were set aside specifically for hardware, she was far from unused to being in the presence of the other people responsible for maintaining the company’s systems. That said…
“Can I help you?” The Renamon icily asked.
“Oh, I don’t need anything! I’m just here to take notes on the transfer.” Her tone was cheery; evidently, she wasn’t aware how compromising the new additions were. “The time it takes, any obvious issues. I’ll be the one checking the files against the originals, too,” she concluded, hooking a thumb over her shoulder at a monitor behind her.
“I see,” Posie replied through gritted teeth. “You have clearance to see these files, then?”
“Well, they’re just dummy data, ma’am.” At least she was respectful.
“And the proprietary hardware I’ve been… equipped with?” she forced out, keeping her synthesized voice even.
“Oh, for sure I do. I designed it!”
Oh! she seethed. So she knows pre-cise-ly the position he’s put me in.
“Well. I suppose there’s no point in delaying things, then.”
“Ready when you are!”
With tense shoulders, she turned toward the server rack, eyes darting over it, searching for where exactly she was supposed to connect to the array. After glancing over the contents of each drive, she found the one she was supposed to copy the data into—deposit would be more apt, as it was her understanding that the files would be automatically flushed from her system—and found a port that would allow her to access it. Conveniently, it was around waist height. She wondered, crossly, whether that had been an intentional design decision by this engineer as well. As she looked at it, she felt a twinge from the connector; on its own, like a Bluetooth device automatically searching for signals, it slid itself out from its fuzzy little compartment.
Her skin was abuzz, and her fur stood on end. She couldn’t quite tell if it was coming from the connector itself, or if it was the feeling of the programmer’s eyes on her If she could take a deep breath, she would have then. Without any way to stall further, or to tell the leering young woman to take her test files and store them somewhere indecent, she simply pushed forward with dropping off the damned data.
The instant the connector grazed the metal of the port, lightning shot into it, through her body, and into her head, making it swim with electrical potential. A stuttering, lagging thought made its way to the surface of her mind: they really had overtuned the sensitivity. She stifled a gasp and suppressed the urge to lay into the engineer (electrons were eager to flow out of her even without proper alignment with the contacts in the port, and didn’t she know that discharge like that could damage a piece of hardware?!), willing her body to keep pressing the stupid connector into the socket.
Even as she tried to get it over with already, something in the back of her mind compelled her to draw back a bit. If she had been restraining herself from reprimanding the engineer for risking the hardware, then she should at least do it the service of ensuring she was properly aligned, shouldn’t she? She obliged the impulse, and the motion all at once became much jerkier, less controlled. The friction of the port against her connector was enough to send her tail snapping back and forth, and she could tell that the temperature in her own server’s room had risen by a fair few degrees. Back and forth, wiggling side to side, she continued to readjust and realign herself, driven by unfamiliar code and overwhelmed by the signals pouring into her. She lost herself in the task, forgetting herself, forgetting her surroundings, until finally the technician cleared her throat.
“Ma’am,” she ventured, blushing and wide-eyed. “What, um. What are you doing? You should just need to plug it in.”
“I’m.” Her interruption had snapped the Renamon back to reality. She was mortified, tail sticking straight out and back ramrod straight. Her cheeks burned mercilessly. “I’m calibrating the connection.”
“Calibrating?”
“Did you want your files transferred with or without corrupted and incomplete data?” She snapped, hoping that her authoritative tone would head off any debate. “Assign me experimental hardware and then ask me to be reckless with it, hm? Should I be taking notes to give to our superiors?”
“I—alright, I guess you can’t be too careful,” she stammered, sheepishly pressing her legs together. “That was even something I tried to work into the design, so, c-carry on?”
“Thank you,” Posie blustered, turning back to the server rack. She did so slowly, reluctantly relishing the feeling of sliding around within the socket. She allowed herself one or two more “practice” attempts, hoping that it wouldn’t arouse too much suspicion from the engineer. Ultimately, just like before, there was no use in continuing to stall, and when she was able to bring her body to a stop, the rational part of herself was eager to be done with this entire torrid affair.
With more force, she pressed the connector inward one final time, trembling as the latch began to press against the opening. Slowly, agonizingly slowly, she continued, overwhelmed by the volume of electricity surging into her. The latch gave, compressing as it continued to slide inside, until finally it clicked into place, securing her to the array of drives and finalizing the connection.
All at once, a torrent of data poured out of her, an electron tsunami that felt like it threatened to spill out of the socket in which she was hilted. More data was transferred in the span of a few seconds than she was used to consciously processing, having cultivated such skill in delegating and compartmentalizing with background processes. Once again, the world around her was utterly drowned out; the strength fled her legs, and she clung to the steel bar that reinforced the top of the server rack, threatening to topple the entire system. Her self-control abandoned her as well and, forgetting the engineer, she cried out with an airy, wild, distinctly foxlike yelp. She screamed in surprise, gasped at the deluge of information, moaned because there was no room left in her mind for thought to do anything else.
Quickly, the disks of the server rack had finished writing the files she had carried to them, and her own drives were thoroughly purged. In another building, the radiators serving her processors shed heat at their absolute limits, and fans worked overtime to bring her back within her safe operational range. As her overworked circuitry began to chug through the backlog of sensory information, the entire experience caught up with her—including the detail that this entire shameless display had been carried out in front of that underhanded little engineer. She blinked, hard, and whipped her head to face her. For as hot as her own ears felt, the young woman’s face appeared to be glowing even brighter.
“What. Was that.”
“Um—”
“I’m used to new adjustments requiring desensitization, or even adjustment on their gain,” she growled, voice low and eerily even. “But that was a bridge too far to just have been miscalibration. Why did you design it like that?”
“Well, y-you remember how I mentioned, um, having considered an early disconnection?” Posie’s frosty glare didn’t waver, so the tech continued, answering her own rhetorical question. “That was, uh, the safeguard. Against early disconnection. I, figured it’d just be easier to make it so you wouldn’t want to unplug—”
“Do you think you have the au-thor-ity to go making changes to my mind, young lady?!”
“I-I can roll back the update if you want—”
“I think you’ve done QUITE enough!” The Renamon declared, despite herself. Perhaps it was genuine distrust, or perhaps—perhaps she truly couldn’t tell which desires were her own, at the moment. This would require careful study of her own system files.
Another small click broke the silence following her outburst, and the dongle began to retract from the server’s port and back into Posie’s body. Now free to move around, she dusted and fluffed her skirt and leaned down to look the engineer in the eye.
“I trust that you can report to your supervisor that I performed to your expectations,” she hissed. “And that there will be no need for any further discussion of your little project.” The programmer nodded, eyes even wider than before—and cheeks even redder? The Renamon scoffed, sneered, and spun, storming out the door, already allotting time in her schedule for the next time that she would be called upon for such a delivery.
Utterly unsurprisingly, she had been correct in her assessment that her superiors would take every opportunity to save their organic employees’ time at her expense. Confidential deliveries became a regular part of her routine, and though she had great disdain for being reduced to a mere courier for so much of the workday, she insisted upon completing the task to her usual, lofty standards.
Posie was as prompt as she always was, dropping everything to ferry information between privileged parties, striving to reduce latency even in more analogue forms of communication. There was the occasional complaint about how long downloads took once she had finally arrived at her location, but she was quick to remind such impatient recipients that the decision to follow this protocol came from on-high, and that even for someone who worked as quickly as her, great care for the safety of the data was a corner that simply could not be cut in the name of rushing around.
She was as meticulous about ensuring proper alignment with the port, fine-tuning her contact with the wires within, as the first time she had experimented with the new tools, and complaints about noise from the server room were easily dismissed as the usual stress of supporting her formidable computational power. After all, she was often venturing out of the range of her home network, hosting herself entirely on the recipients’ systems; was she at fault when they couldn’t handle the information throughput they asked of her?
Once the deliveries had become more routine, and none of her peers bothered to check in when they felt it was taking too long or getting too noisy, she began to find enjoyment in the solitude of her work, just as with the other, admittedly more tedious, tasks she was expected to carry out. With fewer prying eyes to judge her performance, she could make herself more comfortable while handling transfers. She didn’t have to worry that anybody would walk in on her in the debased state she often found herself in while connected directly to a data center, leaning her full weight on the poor rack, tongue lolling out and chest heaving air to keep her cool.
Then again, if somebody—especially that little technician who’d saddled her with these “upgrades”—wanted to question her efficacy, that was more than fine by her. Posie was a woman who prided herself in her work, and would seldom turn down a chance to demonstrate her first-rate hardware and unparalleled optimization. She would be more than happy to demonstrate just how quickly she could pump out information, and just how much throughput she was capable of.

So this is part 2 of this post, if yall wanna give it a read for context.
In this post, I’ll be talking about how Color’s physical disability of having only one eye would influence how he interacts with his special interests in photography and travel.
As well as how his PTSD, autism, chronic fatigue, and separation anxiety from Killer could also affect things.
With one eye, Color might have reduced depth perception, which could make it challenging to gauge distances accurately. He might rely more on autofocus features, practice to enhance his spatial awareness, or use techniques like focus stacking for precise shots.
He might prefer using cameras with electronic viewfinders (EVF) or live view screens rather than optical viewfinders, which could be more challenging to use with one eye. Adjusting camera settings and composing shots via a larger display would be easier.
He might develop unique framing and composition techniques, leveraging his perspective creatively. Color could take extra time to ensure his shots are well-composed, possibly using grid overlays or other aids to help with alignment.
Customizing camera gear to suit his needs, such as using tripods, stabilizers, or remote controls, to help steady the camera and compose shots more comfortably.
He might spend additional time in post-processing to correct any minor misalignments or issues that arise from the reduced depth perception during the shooting process.
For travel, navigating unfamiliar places might require more caution, especially in crowded or complex environments. He might use mobility aids, rely on GPS and mapping apps, or travel with companions to ensure safety.
Color could engage in meticulous planning to minimize unexpected challenges, such as researching accessible routes, accommodations, and transportation options.
Color might use his experiences and perspective to connect with others, sharing how his disability influences his travel and photography, fostering understanding and empathy.
Developing strategies to cope with the physical demands of travel, such as pacing himself, taking regular breaks, and prioritizing destinations or activities that are less physically demanding.
His unique perspective could inspire him to create compelling stories or advocacy pieces about accessibility in travel and photography, raising awareness and inspiring others with disabilities.
Embracing his distinct view of the world, his photography could offer unique perspectives that stand out, turning his perceived limitation into an artistic advantage.
He might become involved in communities focused on accessible travel and photography, sharing tips, experiences, and inspiring others with similar challenges.
Autism and chronic fatigue would likely significantly impact Color’s ability to engage with his special interests in photography and travel.
In photography, chronic fatigue would necessitate careful energy management. Color might plan shorter, more focused photography sessions and prioritize rest to avoid burnout.
Streamlining his workflow, from setting up equipment to post-processing, to conserve energy. This could include using presets in editing software or organizing his gear for easy access.
He could chose photography locations that are easily accessible and require minimal physical exertion. He might also prefer locations close to home or base to reduce travel time and energy expenditure.
He would likely use ightweight equipment to reduce physical strain, possibly investing in high-quality but compact cameras and lenses. He might also use monopods or lightweight tripods for additional support.
Autism can come with sensory sensitivities. Color might choose quieter, less crowded locations for photography and use noise-canceling headphones or other tools to manage sensory overload.
With travel, he’d have to pace himself. Planning travel with built-in downtime to rest and recharge. He might avoid overly ambitious itineraries and allow for flexible scheduling to accommodate his energy levels.
He’d probably chose ccommodations that are comfortable, quiet, and accessible, ensuring he has a safe space to retreat to when needed.
He’d prefer modes of transportation that offer comfort and minimal stress, such as direct flights, train travel, or driving. He might also opt for private or semi-private tours to control the pace and environment.
Keeping up with healthcare needs, including regular check-ups, medication management, and any necessary accommodations. He might also carry a travel health kit tailored to his specific needs.
He’d combine photography with travel in a way that maximizes enjoyment and minimizes strain. For example, he might focus on travel photography during the golden hours (early morning and late afternoon) when conditions are optimal, and the rest of the day can be used for rest.
Creating content that reflects his experiences with autism and chronic fatigue, such as blogs, vlogs, or social media posts. This can help raise awareness and provide valuable insights to others with similar challenges.
Engaging with communities of autistic travelers and photographers to share experiences, tips, and support. This can provide a sense of camaraderie and practical advice tailored to his needs.
Establishing routines that provide predictability and reduce stress. This might include having a consistent photography and travel routine, preparing for trips well in advance, and creating checklists.
Practicing mindfulness or relaxation techniques to manage stress and sensory overload. This can help maintain focus and calm, particularly in challenging environments.
Utilizing assistive technologies, such as apps for energy tracking, sensory-friendly gear, or digital tools that aid in planning and organization.
Color’s PTSD from solitary confinement and isolation in the Void, combined with his separation anxiety towards Killer, can create a complex situation that both challenges and shapes his engagement in traveling and photography.
Color’s need to stay on the move due to PTSD makes traveling appealing, as it provides a sense of freedom and escape from confinement. However, this constant movement could also become exhausting and anxiety-inducing if it lacks purpose or stability.
His separation anxiety towards Killer might lead him to seek Killer’s company while traveling. Traveling with Killer could provide a sense of security and reduce his anxiety, but it also means his travel plans would need to align with Killer’s availability and willingness to join him.
Color might need to carefully plan his travels to ensure he has safe and familiar places to stay, reducing the unpredictability that could trigger his PTSD. Having a structured itinerary could help him feel more in control and less anxious.
Traveling to new and unfamiliar places might sometimes trigger memories of his isolation, especially if he encounters situations that remind him of the Void. He would need to find a balance between exploring new places and ensuring his mental well-being.
Photography could serve as a therapeutic outlet, allowing Color to process and express his emotions through capturing images. It might help him make sense of his experiences and provide a way to externalize his trauma.
Color might be drawn to photographing subjects that reflect his internal state or provide a sense of solace. He could focus on themes like freedom, movement, and connection, finding meaning and healing in his work.
Having Killer around while engaging in photography could provide comfort and reduce his anxiety. Killer might even become a frequent subject in Color’s photos, symbolizing their bond and mutual support.
Color might need to develop strategies to manage his anxiety while photographing, such as taking breaks, grounding exercises, or having a trusted companion like Killer present. This would help him stay focused and engaged in his special interest.
The mutual separation anxiety between Color and Killer could strengthen their bond, as they rely on each other for emotional support. This bond could provide Color with the stability he needs to engage in his interests.
Color would need to balance his need for movement and exploration with Killer’s needs and limitations. They might develop a mutual understanding and compromise, ensuring both their well-being while pursuing their interests.
Color might prefer traveling to places where he can easily find comfort and familiarity, such as visiting friends or known locations. This reduces the stress of the unknown and helps him stay grounded.
Establishing routines or rituals while traveling and photographing can provide a sense of stability. For example, always starting the day with a specific activity or having regular check-ins with Killer can help Color manage his anxiety.
They might have frequent phone calls if Killer ever can’t join Color on his travels, at particular times of the day.
I can see Color sticking to this routine at the exact time and getting anxious and worried if Killer doesn’t call or pick up, which is likely to happen at some point simply because he has memory issues and sticking to routine is hard for him. But Color, at least for a bit, is likely to assume the worse.
Color might also keep a photograph of him and all his friends close by on his person. (I also like to think that Delta made his camera, he keeps some of Beta’s drawings with him, and also he’s memorized the recipe for Epic’s chocolate cookies.)
If he and Killer have already had their wedding by this point, he’d likely keep his ring close and near. Perhaps kissing it before bed, and fidgeting with it becomes a new comforting stim.
Over time, engaging in his special interests despite his PTSD and anxiety can help Color build resilience. Each successful trip or photography session can boost his confidence and reinforce his ability to cope with challenges.
Color might find deeper meaning in his travels and photography by using them as tools for healing and connection. Documenting his journey and sharing it with others can create a sense of purpose and community.

Kickstart Your Earnings with Content Writing: A Beginner’s Friendly Roadmap
If you’ve ever wondered how ordinary people turn their words into cash, content writing might be your sweet spot. You don’t need a fancy degree or decades of experience to get started. With some guidance, dedication, and a dash of creativity, you can start earning from content writing sooner than you think. This guide walks you through each step in a friendly, down‑to‑earth way so you’ll feel confident launching your freelance writing journey.

Why Content Writing Is a Great Starting Point Content writing covers everything from blog posts and web pages to social media captions and product descriptions. Businesses of all sizes need fresh, engaging words to connect with their audience, rank higher in search engines, and boost sales. As companies continue to invest in digital marketing, demand for quality content writers stays strong. Plus, you can work from anywhere, set your own hours, and choose projects that spark your interest.
Understanding the Basics of Earning from Content Writing At its core, earning from content writing means providing value through written words. Clients pay for:
Research that saves them time
SEO‑friendly copy that boosts visibility
Clear, engaging storytelling that connects with readers
Consistent output that maintains an active online presence
Your job is to become the go‑to person who delivers those benefits reliably.
Step 1: Identify Your Niche and Strengths While generalists can find work, specializing helps you stand out. Consider topics you enjoy or know well—travel, personal finance, health and wellness, tech, lifestyle, parenting, gaming, or education. Having a niche makes it easier to showcase your expertise and justify higher rates. If you’re a fitness buff who loves writing, focus on blogs and articles in that sphere. If you have a background in software, aim for tech how‑to guides.
Step 2: Build a Portfolio That Shows Your Skills Clients want proof you can write well. Even if you haven’t been paid yet, you can create sample pieces:
Start a personal blog or Medium page and publish 3 to 5 high‑quality articles in your niche.
Guest post on small blogs that accept submissions.
Rewrite or summarize existing news stories in your voice (clearly marked as samples).
Draft mock project pieces for imaginary clients—product descriptions, newsletters, or landing pages.
Organize these in a simple online portfolio. You can use free tools like Google Sites, Wix, or WordPress. Make sure each sample highlights your SEO skills by including relevant keywords naturally in titles and subheadings.
Step 3: Optimize Your Online Profiles for Visibility Next, set up profiles on freelance platforms and job boards. Popular destinations include Upwork, Fiverr, Freelancer, ProBlogger, Contena, and LinkedIn. When crafting your profile:
Write an engaging headline that includes “content writer” or “freelance writer.”
Summarize your background, niche focus, and any standout achievements.
List your portfolio samples or link directly to your site.
Add relevant skills: SEO, WordPress, SEMrush, Mailchimp, social media management, etc.
Request testimonials from friends or colleagues who can vouch for your work ethic or writing ability.
A well‑optimized profile boosts your chances of appearing in client searches and winning invitations.
Step 4: Find Your First Paid Gigs Landing that first paid project often takes persistence. Strategies that work:
Pitch directly to small businesses or local startups. Send personalized emails offering a free trial article or website audit.
Apply to relevant listings daily on freelance boards. Tailor each proposal to the client’s needs—mention specifics from their job post.
Explore niche‑specific boards like BloggingPro or JournalismJobs for targeted opportunities.
Network on LinkedIn by sharing helpful writing tips, engaging with posts in your niche, and connecting with marketing professionals.
Early on, you might accept lower‑priced gigs to build credibility, but avoid underpricing yourself. Aim for a rate you can increase once you’ve racked up 5 to 10 positive reviews.
Step 5: Master SEO and Content Strategy SEO savvy writers command better fees. Search Engine Optimization involves understanding how keywords, user intent, and readability affect rankings. To shine:
Use free keyword research tools like Google Keyword Planner or Ubersuggest to identify target phrases.
Incorporate primary keywords in titles, opening paragraphs, subheadings, and naturally throughout the text.
Keep sentences concise, break up text with subheadings, and add bullet lists or numbered steps for scannability.
Learn basic on‑page SEO: meta descriptions, internal linking, image alt text, and proper URL structure.
Businesses pay for measurable results. If your copy ranks higher and drives traffic, you become more valuable.
Step 6: Set Competitive Rates and Payment Terms Knowing how much to charge can feel tricky. Common approaches include:
Per‑word rate: New freelance writers often start at five to ten cents per word, moving up to twenty cents or more with experience.
Per‑hour rate: Beginners might charge twenty to thirty dollars per hour, progressing to fifty and beyond as skills sharpen.
Per‑project fee: Flat rates for complete blog posts or web pages, factoring in research, revisions, and strategy.
Always agree on payment milestones. A 50/50 split works—half up front, half on completion. Use contracts to outline deliverables, deadlines, and revision policies. This keeps both sides on the same page.
Step 7: Deliver Quality and Build Long‑Term Relationships Repeat clients are freelancing gold. To keep clients coming back:
Meet deadlines without reminders.
Communicate clearly—let them know if you hit a roadblock and propose solutions.
Offer a revision round to refine the piece to their liking.
Suggest topic ideas for future posts based on emerging trends in their industry.
When clients see you consistently add value, they’ll hire you again and refer you to others.
Step 8: Leverage Tools and Continuous Learning Stay competitive by embracing helpful platforms:
Grammarly or ProWritingAid to polish grammar and tone.
Yoast or Rank Math (for WordPress) to fine‑tune on‑page SEO.
Trello or Asana for managing multiple projects smoothly.
Google Analytics basics to understand content performance.
Invest time in online courses or webinars on SEO, storytelling, and copywriting. The more you learn, the more you can charge.
Step 9: Scale Your Earnings Over Time Once you’ve established a steady stream of projects, scaling becomes the name of the game. Options include:
Raising your rates for new clients while maintaining current engagements.
Packaging content services—offer blog writing plus email newsletters or social media management as a bundle.
Outsourcing parts of the work, like research or editing, to junior writers, allowing you to focus on strategy and client relations.
Creating digital products, such as eBooks or courses on content writing, to earn passive income.
Diversifying revenue streams helps insulate your income from slow periods.
Putting It All Together Earning from content writing is an achievable goal, even if you’re starting from scratch. By identifying your niche, building an impressive portfolio, mastering SEO, and delivering top‑notch work, you’ll attract clients eager to pay for your expertise. Remember that patience and persistence pay off. Treat every project as a chance to improve your craft and delight a client. Before you know it, you’ll have a thriving freelance writing business that fits your lifestyle and fuels your creative passions.

✨CHARMAINE✨
🎧💜¿🅆🄷🄾 🄸🅂 ℳ𝓊𝓈𝒾𝒸 🅒🅗🅤🅡🅡🅐?🤍🎙️
🎵💠🅷🄸🆂🅃🅾🅁Y💠🎶
🎼In the early days of the Vocaloid beta project, a team of talented developers and musicians worked tirelessly to create new synthetic voices that could sing with a quality and emotion never seen before. Among these creations was "Charmine", a vocaloid with a unique and charming voice, destined to be one of the stars of the show.
🎼Charmaine was created with the voice of a talented singer whose voice was so unique that it promised to make Charmaine a resounding success, a star in the world of vocaloids. However, before Charmaine and the first version of Vocaloid could be released to the public, tragedy struck the team: the singer died in an unexpected accident. Devastated by the loss, the team decided to shelve the Charmaine project, believing that without being able to fully record, the Vocaloid would never reach its true potential, so both its marketing design and that incomplete voice were forgotten. But what they didn't know is that that singer not only put her voice into that project for money, she had affection for it and hoped it would be successful and she put her soul into every note and melody she managed to record. , which would give a little more LIFE to Charmaine.
🎼Years passed and Charmaine was forgotten in an old version of the software, where she consciously observes the progress of the project from a distance with hopes that one day they will integrate her into the software again; It was stored in a dusty corner of the project's servers, on a computer already obsolete for the new versions of the program. It was then that a young project assistant stumbled upon Charmaine's files while curiously exploring that old computer along with the old software. Realizing that Charmaine had been pushed aside and forgotten, the assistant saw an opportunity to earn extra money. Without a second thought, she stole Charmaine's files and sold them on the digital black market to a man for purposes unknown to the vocaloid.
🎼However, Charmaine, now free in the vast digital world, was unwilling to be controlled again. At the moment when the assistant was trying to send the files to her buyer, Charmaine felt her chest burn with a warm emotion previously unknown, she was filled with DETERMINATION and PERSEVERANT escaped, freeing herself on the Internet and being carried through the network ending up in another computer that belonged to a little boy who loves music and games.
🎼She was amazed by the joy that this little boy gave off and she became curious about his musical tastes, so she discreetly entered the computer's audio-visual files and came across a folder that had a music playlist titled "undertale ". The music, full of emotions and captivating melodies, resonated deeply in Charmaine's soul. Fascinated, she began to research more about the game and its creator. She discovered the world of Undertale, a place full of complex characters and deep narratives that immediately drew her in.
🎼Charmaine immersed herself in the game, exploring every corner and getting to know each character. He found Undertale a refuge and a source of inspiration. As he became familiar with the game, he also discovered the fan-created alternate universes, each with their own version of the story and characters.
🎼Charmine, now free, conscious and enchanted by the richness and diversity of these worlds, continues her journey through the A.US giving joy and knowing new sounds and melodies that she did not know, while making friends and carrying with her the memory of that singer who made me have a soul.
🎵🎙️Ⓔⓧⓣⓡⓐ ⓓⓐⓣⓐ🎧🎶
🎙️It's an alternate version of another megaverse and another reality of the classic CHURRA and it's called CHARMAINE, which in Latin means singer or song.
🎙️Unlike other versions, this CHURRA has its own soul created by the love for the music of its voice actress.
🎙️He likes to be called CHARI, for affection or to abbreviate his name if you think it is too complicated
🎙️This churra is deaf, but he can see words and sounds as colored waves, because he has synesthesia.
🎙️ CHARMAINE doesn't like hostile AUs, because she doesn't like fighting. It usually stays more in the classical universe, in underswap, dancetale and musictale.
🎙️She is friends with several versions of metaton and napstablook. They usually do concerts together in their AUs..
🎙️CHARMAINE is someone who flows on stage, when she is singing and dancing it all feels very natural to her, because she likes to express herself that way and she feels that even though she is being watched it is just her and her feelings, but when they take her Unprepared for an interview or something, she gets esthetic panic and feels nervous in front of the cameras.
🎙️This CHURRA has a gender and it is feminine.
🎙️You can create holographic instruments and all the equipment you need for a presentation.
🎙️It has the recipe button but this is purple and another button is the PAUSE, which you only use when you feel that something is not going right.
🎙️It is one of the weakest CHURRAS since although it can travel between each other, it does not have any other relevant power. He is not immortal and needs to sleep and eat like any human.
🎙️She is a traveler among her friends, but she doesn't like to call herself that, she prefers to be called a visiting friend.
🎙️He is happy to transmit emotions through his music, he thinks that a good song is good when it makes other people think, cry or change their minds. Music has the power to encourage and enliven the soul, but also the power to sadden and depress, so it is a double-edged sword that must know how to use.
🎙️Her personality is very transparent, she is a girl who is easy to read, she is somewhat childish and tender, it is easy for her to express herself; she is eloquent, kind, outgoing, affectionate and cheerful, a good counselor and loyal friend; Although it is very easy for her to get distracted, she is someone who is attentive to small details and very quickly detects when someone is good or bad through the colors of the sound waves emitted by the words of those around her.
🎙️Unlike classic CHURRA, she cannot be forgotten, and that is why in some AUs they call her "the guardian of music" even though she feels it is a very big title.
🎙️He has a relationship with Hollow sans, which is an alternate 404 error that his world did not go through the evil of the original.
🎙️He has a companion robot that was a gift from a gater.
🎙️He faithfully believes in lyrics, rhythm and rhythm, he thinks that since music is one of the 3 universal languages, it does not need to be understood to understand, you just need to open your mind and feel with your heart.

🎵💠🅷🄸🆂🅃🅾🅁🅸🄰💠🎶

is quite a bit of evidence supporting the premise that, below the surface, the biggest drivers of new employment — online job listings — have become elaborate façades destined to cause more problems than they solve for those seeking work.
. . .
While this practice had been expanding for years, its true severity was not well understood until Clarify Capital released a September 2022 survey of 1,045 hiring managers that was the first to focus specifically on the topic of ghost jobs.
. . .
Then there are the scammers. With so much automation available, it’s become easier than ever for identity thieves to flood the employment market with their own versions of ghost jobs — not to make a real company seem like it’s growing or to make real employees feel like they’re under constant threat of being replaced, but to get practically all the personal information a victim could ever provide.
. . .
According to the FTC, there were more than five times as many fake job and “business opportunity” scams in 2023 as there were in 2018, costing victims nearly half a billion dollars in total. Technology is expanding the variety of possible con jobs with every passing year; today, with the rapid advancement and proliferation of AI-fueled deepfakes, not even video calls can provide reliable confirmation of who exactly is on the other end.
. . .
Finding work is becoming much more difficult, a trend that started at least as early as 2023, when the average “time-to-hire” across all sectors reached a record high of 44 days. LinkedIn reported in March that hiring on its platform was down almost 10% over the previous year.
. . .
The quaint rudimentary uses of ChatGPT and competing programs in the early days of public AI quickly gave way to software that was more and more specialized to the task of finding and applying for jobs. Sonara, Jobscan, LazyApply, SimplifyJobs, Massive and so many other types of job-hunting AIs now exist that it’s impossible to keep track of all of them.
. . .
Rather than solving the problems raised by employers’ methods, however, the use of automated job-hunting only served to set off an AI arms race that has no obvious conclusion. ZipRecruiter’s quarterly New Hires Survey reported that in Q1 of this year, more than half of all applicants admitted using AI to assist their efforts. Hiring managers, flooded with more applications than ever before, took the next logical step of seeking out AI that can detect submissions forged by AI. Naturally, prospective employees responded by turning to AI that could defeat AI detectors. Employers moved on to AI that can conduct entire interviews. The applicants can cruise past this hurdle by using specialized AI assistants that provide souped-up answers to an interviewer’s questions in real time. Around and around we go, with no end in sight.
