Marlene Dietrich als treusorgende Mutter ist unterhaltsamer als die meisten anderen treusorgenden Mütter der Zeit und kann mit Revue-Auftritten als Blonde Venus, sowie der diskreten Hilfe des jungen Playboys Cary Grant ihren todkranken Gatten Herbert Marshall retten, der das aber eigentlich gar nicht verdient hat. Sieht natürlich großartig aus, ist aber für so ein Sternberg-Dietrich-Vehikel vergleichsweise vorhersehbar melodramatisch geraten. Wir sehen darüber allerdings großzügig hinweg, wegen der fabelhaften Affennummer. Und überhaupt.
