Emo Smurf (French: Schtroumpf Gothique) is a Smurf who is depressed about life and, like any other Smurf, has a secret crush on Smurfette. He wears the traditional Smurf hat in black (to resemble a human's hair color), black eyeliner, a black t-shirt and fingerless gloves, gray blue jeans with light gray blue cuffs and black/white sneakers (resembling the Converse brand). He would often do the 'hands in pockets' pose, much like Sloppy (and to a lesser extent, Slouchy).

At first, he suffered a deep depression after the loss of his stuffed bunny. The other Smurfs chose to cheer him up and tried to get him to join in their favorite activities, but it didn't work. Then, Smurfette came up with a benefit talent show, but still, it didn't work. Clumsy then found a stuffed bunny and returned it to Emo. From then on, Emo started having social interaction with his fellow Smurfs more often. Although, for the most part, he prefers to be by his lonesome. 

Much like any other Smurf, he would often get annoyed with Brainy's endless talking, Jokey's surprises, Lazy refusing to work, Vanity looking at himself in the mirror, Harmony's tone-deaf music, Clumsy's clumsiness and Dimwitty retrieving the wrong things. But despite his annoyance, he still loves them equally.

The backstory of how he got his trademark outfit and eyeliner will be included at a later time.

The Smurfs: A New Touch Of Blue synopsis thread Part 7

The Okidoki! AKA Okey-Dokey!

Jokey has a new prank: Grouchy has a tendency to say ‘no’ to anything and everything, so he gives him a potion which has some very surprising effects. Whenever anyone asks him to do something, he says “okey dokey” and does it straight away... even if the thing they’re asking is for him to go to Gargamel’s hovel! 

AKA Smurfy Magic Duel 

Papa Smurf wants to prove to SmurfWillow AKA Willow that alchemy is more powerful than her “natural” magic. He invites her to come visit his lab for a little demonstration, which fails to impress the leader of the Smurf girls. The two wizards end up challenging each other to a magic duel. But their duel gets cut short when Papa Smurf inadvertently makes Gargamel and Azrael appear in the middle of the village! 

The Two Dimwits Make a Pair AKA Doctor Brainy & Mister Dumb 

When Brainy wants to prove that he has the heaviest brain and therefore is the most intelligent, he invents the “Smurf-scales”. Unfortunately, instead of weighing his brain, the contraption turns Brainy into a complete dummy. The village loses its brainiac smurf and gains a second Dopey/Dimwitty, which isn’t without consequences... 

Gargamel in Drool! AKA Shell Game 

Gargamel turns himself into a snail so that Farmer brings him back to the Smurf’s Village. Except once there, Gargamel is unable to turn back to his former self! Stuck as a snail, he becomes Dopey/Dimwitty’s pet and tries to find a way to escape. But as a snail, you never move too fast... 

Blossom Goes Green AKA Blossom Goes Wild!

When SmurfBlossom AKA Blossom gets into a huge fight with SmurfStorm AKA Stormy and SmurfLily AKA Lily, she announces she’s moving out of Smurfy Grove and moving in with - Wild! Much to his surprise. 

Smurf Us From Here! AKA No Smurf Out!

When Scaredy is afraid a ghost is haunting his house, he asks Handy to make it airtight. But the house becomes so secure that they end up getting locked inside, with Brainy, SmurfBegonia AKA Begonia SmurfBlossom AKA Blossom, and then Chef. How will these very different Smurfs manage to get along? And above all... escape! 

Greedy's Soufflé AKA Souffle Shuffle

When Chef sprains his ankles after a fight with Greedy, he’s left without anyone available to take his soufflé to the upcoming Spring Festival. Greedy offers his help, but how can you trust Greedy to not chow down the soufflé before it gets to its destination? Since everyone has already left the village, Chef doesn’t have the choice. It will be up to Greedy to prove that he’s up to the task! 

Timid's Cure AKA Curing Private Timid 

Hefty is convinced that Timid admires him and so decides to take him under his wing and teach him some self confidence. Poor Timid has no desire to be like Hefty, but of course doesn’t dare tell him. Timid takes refuge in the forest to escape his interfering “advice”, thinking he’ll get a little peace and quiet... but he soon bumps into the ogres! 

Overworked Smurfette AKA Smurfette Overdoes It!

Smurfette wears herself out by overdoing things, so to teach her the art of doing nothing, Papa Smurf enlists the help of the grand master of idleness, Lazy! But when the student surpasses the teacher and Smurfette convinces everyone to switch to “idleSmurfism”, this leads to all kinds of trouble in the village...

The Rise of Papa Smurf AKA Papa Smurf Leaves the Nest

While Papa Smurf is preparing a potion to cure his voice loss, a sparrow enters his lab and accidentally switches bodies with him.

So apparently the Smurfs are back...

So I was wondering what to do for this Month’s one Shot when I decided to turn on Netflix. Apparently the #1 show is the Smurfs series from 2021. I did watch the original Smurfs when I was a kid and figured why not. Though this is likely a continuation of the CGI Smurfs movie, which I did not see but know that they introduced more female Smurfs so that’s a plus. And their first episode is called “Who Nose?”

Hefty Smurf has an obvious crush on Smurfette but he seems rejected when it seems Farmer Smurf has her attention. To be fair, it could be she just wanted someone who knows how to deal with plants. So he asks Poet about how Smurfette wouldn’t give him the time of day, and Jokey jokes that his nose is too big. This leads to him thinking his nose is big. Worse when Brainy Smurf confirms its 37% bigger than average.

So this episode (being 15 minutes long) focuses on trying to reduce the nose size. First a nose pin (didn’t work), then Handy Smurf (who I like the design of as he ditch the white overalls for blue and a jetpack, gives me Numbuh 2 vibes) builds a birdhouse. Which sucks for Vanity since he set it up perfectly for Smurfette and Hefty to be on a date. And of course Papa Smurf doesn’t help because like me he doesn’t see any difference in nose size. He even asked Vanity if he wanted his change and if Vanity said no, then everyone else’s is just as perfect.

In a desperate action, Hefty and a few decide to go to Gargamel’s place to find a spell. Luckily for them, he would normally be at the buffet filling up himself and his pockets till next week. Unluckily for them, they kicked him out early. A positive I will give is Azrael seems to have more personality than I remember from the original show. But thanks to Dimwitty Smurf (who according to the wiki was originally Dopey Smurf) they found the page.

All you have to do is apply a little bit of goop on the nose and in 12 hours it will shrink. The next day, Hefty uses all the goop and... Well, you’re probably expecting that he used so much it not only shrunk his nose but everything about him. It did not do that. Instead...

His nose grew so big, it overtook his body. There is no more Hefty, there is only Nose. And apparently it also makes him act out his last memory as he goes after Smurfette. He sucks her up his nose as well as I believe Poet Smurf as Papa Smurf finds a solution: pepper the nose to sneeze them out (complete with streams of boogers) and cage him. Smurfette kisses him, saying she has no problem with the nose and the episode ends with his nose shrinking, but very slowly.

So why did it do that? I think it’s a potion to make a nose a specific size, not shrink. So while it would be a smaller nose for Gargamel, it’s a bigger nose for Hefty. As for the episode itself, it’s alright. I don’t think I’ll be watching anymore than this episode. Also, I notice the lip synching not matching but this is a dub so it is expected. Still, not for me this time. Either that or this episode was not the best opener (is that Grouchy Smurf and is that a possible love interest for him?)
