Hiya! I just had a lot of head-canon's running around in my head so I just wanted to share a few! These are an amalgamation of things grabbed from Memory Alpha/Beta, as well as what I just like to think are implications of happenings that took places in these character’s lives. I also have a more adult list for more sexy and/or serious HC’s (if you wanna see those)

Beginning halfway through her second year (Kirk’s first), Kirk started to randomly talk to her Vulcan, than Klingon and slowly it turning into an ongoing competition to see who between the two of them know more languages

Loves to do Yoga as well as leaned how to traditional Orion dance from Galia as a form of exercise

Found out after a night of drinking with their friend group that Leonard knew how to poll dance and asked him for lessons whenever their schedules lined up, it be came a bi-monthly thing for them

Always gets her family cute little odds-and-ends for their birthday, as well as a card that says how much she loves them in different languages rotating every year

Shares Spock’s love for earrings and will get him a new pair for his birthday

During the bi-annual talent show, she and Spock usually did an act together

One year it was a tie between her Spock, and Jim & Galia’s dance act

Her, Hendorf, CHristine and Leonard have a once a month girl’s night where they meet in Nyota & Galia’s dorm and talk shit

When she heard that Gary Mitchell spread rumors about Jim being a whore, she did everything in her power to make that man’s life miserable

Sometimes the odd person will make a misogynistic/racist comment about her or her appearance, and miraculously Jim and the person who said it willinup at Medical with Leonard being extra mean to said misogynist (and if Spock hears anything while he’s out wither her, they’ll get the verbal ass whooping of their lives as well as a demerit in their file)

Westside Connection

This 6-track EP features Kokane from the Alcoholics, Tash from the dirty ogs, Xzibit, and Kxng Crooked. This is intellectual music with a hardcore vibe and a west coast sound that pays homage to west coasts legends like Dr. Dre along with conscious bars along side of some of the regions top mcees. It’s more than an album, it a connection, and it not just any connection, it’s a westside connection. The beats and features are all from Anno Domini. The entire project was produced by Keyano and the cover art is by Gigzlogo from Fiverr.

I actually really like “Symphonies.” I took the liberty of explaining why I haven’t made it yet in “hot fire.” I assume the position of and alcoholic and I show you whats important at the end.

Project overgrowth was a domestic civilian disobedience campaign that got started in chat rooms in the 1990s. The government had outlawed marijuana to such a degree that even having it on your land could land you in prison for decades. The problem and advantage is the plant is everywhere, and grows like a weed. So the project was to tell people to take marijuana seeds and plant them everywhere, especially in public parks until there is an overgrowth.

I did a word of the day rhyme for months. I wanna say 7 months, without looking. It doesn’t create enough attention and I don’t have the money or willpower to really make it have that wow factor. I want it to be fun and if I have to worry about all the technical aspects its not fun. Anyways, it’s my aspiration to achieve and like I said in my top 10 that I publish ever year on the blog, to work with Dr. Dre is the ultimate dream.

███ Short Introduction

Yuna Akahoshi is a first year student at U.A. High School. While she appears to be training to become a Pro Hero, she's really there to become stronger to better aid her father's organization.

███ History

At first glance, Yuna's family and story seem normal enough, albeit sad. Her father is a police dispatcher, and her mother died when Yuna was young. Yuna's childhood was, outwardly, relatively normal. When she became old enough, she took the entrance exam for U.A. and passed.

In actuality, however, Yuna's story is far less mundane. When Yuna was 3, her Quirk activated for the first time and killed her mother. Yuna was devastated, but her father saw Yuna's powerful Quirk as an opportunity. Once he and an ex-doctor friend had figured out how Yuna's Quirk worked, they exploited the acid she creates. Yuna's father is also a member of a crime ring called the Cobalt Alliance, and primarily functioned as an informant. However, after figuring out how to contain Yuna's acid, he began to collect it and sell it to his boss to use on enemies.

Later on, when Yuna was a little older, she was formally introduced to the Cobalt Alliance and was accepted as a de facto member, though she was still far too young to be officially considered such. The boss was particularly fond of her, and treated her like his daughter. Her acid continued to be used for the group's dirty work, and Yuna was kept mostly in the dark about the Alliance's doings.

While she continued to be treated like a princess by most, she desperately wanted her father to treat her as more than a science project. So she came up with a plan to supposedly earn her father's love. She decided to attend a hero school and receive top of the line training so that she could be of greater use to him and her new family. She presented this plan to her father and his boss, was given the go-ahead, and took the U.A. and Shiketsu exams. She passed both, and opted for U.A. as it was a bit closer.

◣ A p p e a r a n c e ◥

███ Appearance

Yuna is a curvy young woman of about average height. She has pale green-grey skin, large blue eyes, and medium length teal hair. Her hair has a notably shiny appearance, and seems to give of a very faint light, similar to glow-in-the-dark toys. At school, Yuna wears the U.A. girls' uniform without the blazer. She also usually wears ankle socks. Yuna's casual attire consists mostly of crop tops, leather or denim jackets, shorts, and canvas shoes. In the colder months, she wears normal pants and shirts, which often have pop culture references. Yuna's hero costume consists of an electric blue, high-collared, sleeveless top, matching shorts, white belt, and ankle boots. The costume is lined with material that can resist her acid. In the winter, she wears a jacket and leggings with insulation, but leaves her midriff bare.

███ Personality

Yuna is quite extroverted and very cheerful. She loves to make jokes and thrives on attention. Her cheeriness and apparent genuineness makes her rather endearing, and she can befriend almost anyone. Her high amounts of energy couples well with her natural curiosity and spontaneity. Being friends with her is an adventure and not for the faint of heart. She often goes out of her way to make her loved ones happy, including buying random gifts for those she's close to, though she rarely, if ever, displays physical affection. However, she makes up for it in being very supportive. Yuna is outwardly quite confident when it comes to using her Quirk or in being a leader. She has a natural talent for taking charge and getting people to do things. However, strategy isn't her strong suit, and she has a tendency to throw herself or others into difficult situations. Underneath Yuna's extroverted exterior, she's incredibly insecure. Though she's very charming and has little trouble getting people to like her, she often wonders whether or not they actually like her, or if they're only being kind. When it comes to the Alliance, she wonders if they only treat her the way they do because of her Quirk. While she hides it well, Yuna is desperate for love and physical contact, but has a skewed perception of the former. Part of her still believes that love is conditional and dependent on her actions and behavior, hence her eagerness to please, even to her own detriment. She finds the idea of being abandoned by her friends and family terrifying, and would do anything to prevent it. Yuna's morals are skewed from having been raised by a villain organization. She sees nothing wrong with hurting people who have wronged her. Though she does not explicitly enjoy causing people harm, she isn't repulsed by it either.

Acid Touch: Yuna can create a powerful acid on any exposed skin. This acid can burn through most materials, making it incredibly destructive and deadly in applied correctly. By creating large amounts of acid, she can make it accumulate and drip off of her, similarly to sweat. She can't create acid on covered skin, and must stay well hydrated in order to use her Quirk for long amounts of time. Additionally, her Quirk is less effective in cold climates and takes more effort to use.

Yuna's first and last names mean "beautiful evening" and "red star", respectively.

She met Himiko by happenstance and the two became fast friends, and Himiko is one of the few people Yuna lets her guard down around. Whether or not that's a good idea or not remains to be seen.

She's demisexual-biromantic.

She initially was meant to be more cold and calculating, similar to Azula (Avatar: The Last Airbender), but that idea ended up being scrapped.

This is a 1-hour long compilation of Commodore 64 demos, edited, sorted and beat mixed-ish to Jeroen Tel’s DJ/live set from 2013. His DJ set mostly consists of remakes/remasters of his own SID tunes, the mix also contains tracks from Hubbard and Daglish.

  The video kinda-ish plays like an hour-long c64 demo, some-new-ish demo parts and routines served with incredible Jeroen Tel music. Back when demos had parts. And you just ripped some random game music. 

JT pulls off 60 minutes of the best SID remakes I’ve heard, ever (out of hundreds). The music feels more like a 4 AM DJ set at some underground EDM bunker in London, than a remake of a videogame track.

It’s an hour of old melodies and their distinctive sound reinvented and masterfully crafted with the heavy soundscape and vibrancy of the SID chip. In what “sounds effortless” across an impressively wide range of EDM styles and genres. Jeroen doesn’t really try to replicate “the sound of SID” in these remakes, he playfully reinvents the feeling of a SID tune instead. What a composer. 

And what craftsmanship. You can literally hear the hundreds of hours that went into this hour-long production. It doesn’t sound like a remake, it doesn’t sound like a game, except in that part of the brain that feeds on nostalgia like it was Grade-A Coca plant based Vegan.

Jeroen Tel has claimed the “stadium house” sound for SID tunes, crisp and digital where available. For this mix I added more bass for the Beats by Dre-generation, because more bass is more awesomerer. There are 6-7 versions of JT’s DJ sets out there, unfortunately, neither of them are great recordings.

I felt dirty and savage for gutting demos like this, reducing one piece of digital art to fragments, segments, sometimes just seconds. As an expression of art, creativity, talent, and teamwork every demo in this video deserved better.  This one hour of 8bit visuals represent decades of work. Nerd-chills.

But I still butchered all of it. It’s done. Forever mutilated. Will never be the same.

There are maybe 500 nerds in the world that will understand this post, the rest are lamers.

I always get mad at myself for not talking about them as often as I should.

3: Did they have a good childhood? What are fond memories they have of it? What’s a bad memory?

Saegis-If you ask Sage she’ll tell you her childhood was absolute shit. Being the eldest born of a Noble House put a lot of pressure on Sage. Many of her fond memories end up being with Narya, the two of them are only two years apart in age so were pretty much inseparable. The two of them used to spend hours together and would even have some of the same lessons. Saegis particularly looks fondly upon the times when she and Narya practiced magic together.

A proud moment for Saegis had to be when Sage was older and her mother, Vilya, had tried setting her up with the son of a wealthy landowner. Saegis retaliated by shaving her long hair into what Vilya referred to as “in the style of a dirty ashlander whore”. Because of the pretentious Tribunal-worshiping Dunmer attitude this put a lot of potential suitors off of her.

A bad memory would be hard to pinpoint. Again, Sage says living with her parents was absolute hell. When Vilya wasn’t trying to find Sage a good husband, she was constantly deriding everything Sage did.

Narya-A little more optimistic about things, Narya wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss how she and Sage grew up. She wouldn’t go ahead and say there was nothing wrong, but partly the reason she had it better was because Sage was constantly the one taking the brunt of their mothers ire. Narya was much older when Vilya turned her scrutinizing gaze to Narya.

A fond memory for Narya would have to be the first time her father, Avoneth, provided with her first set of oil paints. Narya always had an affinity for the arts, and she was able to escape into the canvas. Narya always seemed to be favored by Avoneth, and he thwarted near every chance that Vilya would try and set up Narya with a potential husband, as he thought they were never good enough.

A particularly horrible memory would have been on an outing with her family. Her mother and father wanted to survey their lands and the many slaves under their control. Narya got separated and stumbled upon an Argonian being whipped to death by a seer. Narya got in the middle and ended up taking a lash herself. Her parents were furious, and when her father held a sobbing Narya in his arms he essentially pulled a Seti from The Prince of Egypt

Narya never did look at her father the same way.

Moirrin-Moirrin was the exception. She was born ten years apart from Narya, and was treated as such. It was clear from the beginning that Moirrin was their mothers favorite. According to Moirrin her childhood was filled with luxury, and the only two things in her way were her older sisters.

A fond memory in Moirrins childhood would be the times her parents invited a suitor for Narya or Saegis to stay at their manor home. Moirrin reveled in how uncomfortable her sisters were. Moirrin grew up under the strict tutelage of Vilya, and in turn was extremely savvy in the Game and to a fault she was exceedingly charismatic even from a young age.

Any bad memories Moirrin would remember of her childhood were few and far between. Even when their father would get angry at Moirrins treatment of Narya, Moirrin would never seem to take it seriously. Moirrin was still young during the events of Morrowind, and much of that time they were on edge. After all it was Moirrin who had Narya put on the prison ship. A moment of true fear was when word got back to Tear that Narya had the Emperors pardon.

The label only has one employee.

None of the rappers are bound by contracts.

He is one of the founders and owners of Illionaire Records.

Nickname: Dok2 (도끼) or Gonzo.

Real name: Lee JoonKyung (이준경).

He was born on March 28th 1990, he is from Seoul.

He debuted when he was 13 by making a collaboration with rapper Cho PD and later on he joined his label Future Flow Entertainment.

At 16, he was part of the hiphop group Like Child Rapper alongside Microdot.

His stage name “Dok2″ means “axe” in Korean.

He is half Corean, a quarter Spanish and a quarter Philippine, because his mother is Korean but his father is Philippine and Spanish.

He made a cameo in 2016 drama “Entourage”.

Gonzo refers to his Philippine mother whose last name is González. However, he is also called “The Dirty South Korean” by some of his fans and “Young Boss” by himself.

He said he is very romantic and falls in love easily.

He is attracted by a woman’s strength and character rather than physical appearance.

He is close with Jay Park, Epik High, CL, Wooram, GD and Taeyang.

He started rapping at 16, in 2003.

He is 171 cm.

He met Dok2 in 2005 when they participated in Dynamic Duo’s second album.

He said he would be a nice and kind boyfriend since it comes naturally to him, he isn’t a “bad guy” type of partner. He also said that he is the kind of person that never fights with women. Regarding this topic, he’s mentioned that he wouldn’t make the relationship public since chaos would ensue.

Some of his many hobbies are small action figures, audio, furniture and toys.

He knows how to overcome loneliness.

He would like to try skydiving.

Krakatoa: My Wake-Up Playlist

This playlist has been my daily mix of tracks for the past few months (around the time when quarantine began in late March 2020). To be frank, when I made the name and thumbnail photo for this playlist, I was not trying to make it have any kind of depth - I just wanted to create a compilation of tracks where I really enjoyed the production quality and melding of jazz and R&B/soul music. Since the day that I created this playlist, sure, I have listened to other music to either study for my Jazz-oriented classes, I play other tracks to get ready for when I go out, when I exercise, when I drive, or if I just get bored; yet as the days have passed, I always find myself gravitating toward this playlist, especially when I am doing my morning routine. Some tracks have been removed and added since its creation.  

Every morning I wake up, stretch, meditate, and then listen to this playlist when I take a shower. Oftentimes, I put the playlist on shuffle (which I recommend). This playlist acts as a form of grounding myself in the roots of jazz, funk and soul while at the same time recognizing the influence of funk and soul in popular R&B and Rap today. Not only does it ground me in an emotional sense, but it acts as a stabilizer for my inner monologue as an artist and a human: to always look back at the past in history and art for inspiration, while recognizing the amazing artists that drive history and art forward, to push the revolution of evolution.

1) Everybody Loves the Sunshine, Roy Ayers Ubiquity

If I was only able to listen to one song for the rest of my life, it would be Everybody Loves the Sunshine. This legendary and critically acclaimed song has been a huge part of my introduction to understanding the roots of soul music and R&B as a musician and producer. From a listener’s perspective, the song gently raises your plane of existence into a daze of golden hour in the middle of August. you see and feel the sunbeams gently radiate and heat your skin. The mirage of the heat leaves you gazing out down the endless sea of pavement, where children playing in the street are in your line of sight, but out of focus. The hot breeze crawls across your sweat-infused brow while you take in a breath of heavy fresh air. The hypnotic groove of the bongos and congas and numerous synths with their own rhythmic and harmonic role create a psychedelic aura around the piano, bass, drum set, and vocalists. 

2) First Class Khruangbin

Indie Shuffle “How is Khruangbin Pronounced?” 

 My friend Jeff and I were hanging on the fourth of July this year. Since it was during the quarantine, we kept it to a gathering of four people where we just sat a big round table on their deck and catch up. At around 3am, Jeff puts First Class on, where I was left completely shook. The energy that this trio produces is such a beautiful concoction of Soul, Rock, Thai, Spanish and Middle-eastern influence throughout their entire discography. First Class puts me in a retrospective space - a sound that is so familiar yet has their own fingerprint that can only be Khruangbin.

3) Time (You and I) Khruangbin

Another track from their album “Mordechai” that I could not resist putting on this playlist immediately after I heard it. Like First Class, The soul influence is off the charts, yet it has its own fingerprint that I have trouble identifying where it all comes from - most likely because their collective influence from art around the world is so wide. This song makes me remember that as long as you find your own passion and do what you have to do to reach your goals, life has its own way of working itself out. Even if what you expect to happen in life is a polar opposite of what you prepared for, your life has value because you are alive today, so get up and get it while you got it! 

The link I shared is their music video, which I think is amazing in its own way, just like Khruangbin.

4) Winners Circle, Anderson Paak

UGH the drive of this song makes me replay this song all the time. While the tone and texture of the deep and loud kick drum is clearly inspired by popular dance music, his use of the kick drum mixes popular dance with funk and R&B. During the verse, the kick drum is hitting on every beat, driving people to get up and dance! Yet when the second chorus comes around, the kick drum is more syncopated like many other funk and soul drum beats. At the same point where the drums change up, the bass gets funkier too. Since this record was produced by Dr. Dre, the mix and overall production quality is unbelievably clear (as to be expected from a legend). Amazing.

5)  Lyk Dis, NxWorries (Anderson.Paak & Knxwledge)

Oh, how the innuendos woven into this song (and music video) crack me up every time I take a listen to this song. with NxWorries, Anderson.Paak, and Knxwledge all putting their creative efforts in on this track, the only question that I had was how good is this collaboration going to be? The production quality and short track length is at an equilibrium where I love it so much that I can repeat this track several times. This song opens the door to an older lower-end smoky club where the energy is fueled only by the people in it, not the atmosphere or lights or expensive drinks. Or it could be a college kickback. Check out the music video (linked), it has really great “Rubber hose” animation that supplements the lyrics in a comedic yet artistic manner. 

6) Cosmic Perspective, Mndsgn

The Funk and Jazz elements are jumping right at you on this track. The bass lines are so funky, yet the synth bass sound gives it a disco tinge. The harmonic content throughout has its feet dug deeply in jazz; there are many turnarounds and progressions that are used in jazz that are used in this track. This song feels like I am taking an Uber in a flying sportscar on an interstellar highway while smoking a blunt with Mndsgn. 

7) Dirty Harry, Benny the Butcher

They say variety is the spice of life. I added this song almost purely because of how hard this song is. This song reminds me that inspiration comes from all aspects of life, and every corner of the world has their own unique way of turning their life into art that resonates with them. 

8) Pelota, Khruangbin

So what if I put three Khruangbin songs on one playlist? I had to put this song on the playlist due to the heavy Spanish influence while still keeping the hypnotic and psychedelic grooves. This song feels like its swirling around my head when I listen to it. 

Also, the music video is a very creative and sublime animation that I recommend everyone to watch. 

9) Now or Never, Kendrick Lamar

Now or Never must be the most underrated song Kendrick Lamar has every created. The R&B energy reminds me of early 2000′s hits that are made to be pure inspiration - songs that are made when an artist is coming up, where both the listener and the artist both know that they are moving up in the world and reaching a new understanding of what art is. Such an uplifting song that makes me feel like I can move mountains.

10) Never Catch Me, Flying Lotus (Feat. Kendrick Lamar) Video

This is currently my favorite production by Flying Lotus. This song signifies no matter the adversity of others, the obstacles in your way, and the depressive understanding that time is out of your control and life comes to an end for everyone, you can still be you and enjoy life; no man, no systemic oppression, and not even your own body can catch your spirit. 

Although I named this playlist with no true meaning behind it originally, I still think Krakatoa is the proper name for it. This playlist makes me feel like it awakens me from my dormant state of mind every morning to the mind of an active volcano - so full of hot flowing inspiration from beneath my surface as a human being, just waiting to blow and create a whole new island of beauty created from within.

He strikes late at night. His target, a pretty young woman with brown curls, is walking home from class. He chuckles to himself as he thinks about what he’s about to do. Quickly, he moves from the bushes, drawing his knife and lunging at the woman.

She runs, screaming as loud as she can. He doesn’t mind; he expected her to run. She dashes for the nearest building, hoping to get away. That’s when she steps into his trap.

Her foot falls into a slipknot made thin string, so thin that she can barely make it out. She falls to the ground and feels a creature crawling on her back, creating more string and binding her limbs. Suddenly, she feels very, very tired. As she slips from consciousness she looks at her back, at the creature tying her up, and sees nothing.

He walks over to his trap and smiles. The creature abandons the woman and returns to its master, taking its place on his shoulder.

Our story begins in the summer of 2011, in the City of London, on a swelteringly hot day. A young university freshman sits in the stuffy office of one of her professors, a small windowless room filled with bookshelves overflowing with old tomes. She wipes a few drops of sweat from her brow and regrets her decision to wear black. She’s been sitting in the office for ten minutes now, watching as her professor silently flips through an old history book. Then she notices it, an ice cold can of soda sitting on her professor's desk next to a tuna sandwich. Beads of condensation drip down from the can and plop on the professor's wooden desk.

The student glances at her professor, who is still enthralled by his book. Slowly, she reaches for the can of soda. The ruler moves faster than the eye can see, bursting through the air and striking the student in the hand the moment her finger touches the can. The student glances up at the man holding the ruler, her professor with an angry look on his face. “I do not recall giving you permission to touch my belongings, Miss Jonestar,” he says. “In fact, I recall instructing you to sit here quietly while I finished reading this passage, an instruction you seem incapable of following.”

“Joestar,” the student mutters.

“Excuse, me, I didn’t catch that,” the professor says. “Speak louder when you’re spoken to.”

“My name is Joestar, sir,” she says.

The professor rolls his eyes. “Oh, I’m so sorry,” he says, voice full of sarcasm. “Please forgive me for misremembering the stupid name of one of my countless students.”

The professor, an old man named Dr. Dre, is a tall, chubby man with horn-rimmed glasses. He wears a tweed jacket and a tie covered in the logo of his favorite soda brand. He has been a history teacher for thirty years now, a position he adores because it gives him a microcosm of power, a power that he enjoys abusing as much as possible, much to the dismay of his students.

He pulls the ruler back and discovers that Miss Joestar’s finger hasn’t moved from the soda can. She stares at him for a moment before slowly pulling her hand back. The professor rolls his eyes.

“You made me lose my place in my book, young lady,” the professor says with a scowl.

“I’m sorry,” Miss Joestar mutters.

“Now then, what was it that was so urgent that you felt the need to bother me during my lunch break?”

“Mr. Dre-”

“Dr. Dre.”

“Dr. Dre, I was hoping to talk to you about the recent exam.”

Dr. Dre scoffs. “Of course you are,” he says. “Every hour another one of my students comes here to complain about receiving a bad grade. It isn’t my fault that you children decided against showing up.”

“Sir, you changed the location of the test to a room on the other side of campus,” Miss Joestar says. “You also moved the time of the exam to six o’clock in the morning instead of noon. And you only notified us of this change two hours after the test ended.”

“Excuses, always with the excuses.”

“Sir, I was wondering if there was any way I could retake the exam, seeing as it is worth thirty percent of my grade.”

“Sucks to be you.”

Miss Joestar sighs. “I'm’ sorry to have wasted your time, sir,” she says before walking out of the office.

Professor Dre chuckles and grabs his soda. He pulls the tab and a torrent of soda bursts out, soaking his coat.

The Joestars. This proud clan of British aristocrats immigrated to the United States in 1892 and became one of the wealthiest families in the country after earning fortunes in the oil and real estate markets. Using this wealth, they co-founded the Speedwagon Foundation, a top of the line medical research organization. Unbeknown to most people, the true purpose of the Foundation is the study and acquisition of supernatural phenomena.

For generations, the Joestars have dedicated themselves to this purpose, transforming themselves into honorable warriors dedicated to the protection of the world. But, after more than a century of battles, the family has begun to dwindle.

Johana Joestar was born in 1992 to Foundation President Joshua Joestar. Johana’s childhood was dedicated to preparing her for her destiny as head of the Speedwagon Foundation. From the moment she was born, she spent every waking moment studying history, science, and mythology, as well as training in martial arts, so that she could one day protect the world, like every Joestar that came before her.

Johana rejected this path and ran away from home at the age of fifteen. Three years later, she moved to her family’s country of origin and began studying history at Lonely Castle University in London. She wants nothing to do with her family. But, destiny is a fickle mistress, one that few can slip away from.

Johana walks out of the class building. Her friend, a Japanese girl named Kan, is leaning against the doorway, strumming a guitar. “So, is Mr. Dre still a dick?” Kan asks.

“Unfortunately,” Johana replies.

“I had him my first semester. I remember one time, he gave us fifteen minutes to do a fifty-page test. One of the guys in my class actually started crying. Does he still drink that crappy knock-off soda, Sparite?”

Johana smiles. “Yeah,” she says. “Actually, I met with him during his lunch break, so he had a can with him. I shook it up while he wasn’t looking.”

Kan laughs. “You know, people say you’re an unfriendly jackass with absolutely no sense of humor, but you can be pretty clever when you want to,” she says.

“Who says that about me?” Johana asks.

Kan ignores Johana and places her guitar in its case. “I’m putting up flyers for the concert tonight, can you help me?” she asks.

Johana nods her head and Kan does a little victory dance. She runs off to the library to print off fliers, Johana following closely behind.

Johana Joestar and Kan Nijimura met their first week of college. Both freshman new to the country, the duo bonded and quickly formed an ironclad friendship in spite of their different hobbies and temperaments. Kan is boisterous, energetic, and quick to make friends. She has bleach blonde hair cut into a mohawk that hangs down over half of her head. On this hot summer day, she wears black jeans, a gold belt, a t-shirt with an infinity sign and a diagram of the evolution of man printed on it, black heels, a pair of spike covered bracelets, and a denim jacket. The left arm of her jacket has been ripped off, showing a variety of rock band tattoos.

Johana, on the other hand, dresses plainly, wearing a tank top, skirt, tights, and boots, all black. Her dark blue hair is pulled into a bun and a pair of glasses sit on her nose. She’s the quiet, studious girl who always sits in the corner of a room while Kan is the girl who yells out the answer before the teacher can even call her name.

As she chases after Kan, Johana flashes back to the night they met. She was walking home from class, late at night, when she saw a man in a ski mask following Kan, holding a knife in his hand. At first, she turned her head away and continued on her way, not wanting to get involved. Then she heard Kan scream.

She moved without thinking, dropping her books and running to save Kan. Johana jumped into action and kicked the man in the face. He dropped the knife and ran away while Johana tended to Kan.

Kan was fine, she’d screamed before the man could do anything. In fact, instead of being terrified like Johana had expected, Kan was starstruck. “You saved my life!” she said.

Johana blushed. “Well, I don’t know about that,” she mumbled.

“That was so cool! You came out of nowhere and beat the shit out of that guy! It was like something out of a kung fu movie.”

From that day onward, the two were inseparable. They ate together, they studied together, they even started living together during their spring semester. Johana taught Kan self-defense and Kan introduced Johana to her favorite bands. For the first time since she ran away from home, Johana had a friend.

“I think tonight’s show is going to be really good. We managed to borrow a small stage and some equipment from the music department, so it’s going to be like a real show!” Kan says while she and Johana wait for the flyers to finish printing.

“Show’s at eight thirty on the quad, right?” Johana asks.

Kan nods her head. For five months now, she has been the bass guitarist of a rock band she co-founded called Lifeless December. “Are you coming?” Kan asks.

“Wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Johana says.

They pay for the flyers, handing handfuls of change to a library employee with buck teeth who gives them a dirty look, and leave the library to go get lunch. As they walk through the college campus, they come across something rather odd.

A large white cocoon, as tall as Johana, sits by the doorway to one of the dormitories. “What’s this?” Kan asks while reaching her hand out to touch the cocoon.

Johana slaps her hand away. “What?” Kan says.

“Don’t touch it, it looks weird,” Johana replies.

“Okay, I won’t touch it. That doesn’t answer my question though. What is this thing?”

“It’s probably just a modern art exhibit or something. Best to leave it alone.”

As the duo walk away, Johana glances over her shoulders at the cocoon and feels an aura of menace that chills her to her bones. She knows that, whatever the cocoon is, it is evil, and she wants nothing to do with it.

When she walks into the school cafeteria, she sees something incredibly bizarre. A young man with blonde hair balancing with one foot on the back of a chair and the other folded over his waist. The young man wears a tight black tank top that shows off his toned body, dark green pants covered in white stars, a striped scarf covered in hearts, and a black beanie covered in four-leaf clovers. In his left hand, he holds a green banana. He taps it with his right hand and the skin of the banana turns yellow. He peels the banana and takes a bite.

“What’s that guy’s deal?” Kan asks.

Johana doesn’t say anything. She knows exactly what the guy’s deal is. It’s been years since the two saw each other last, but she’d recognize that dumbass smile anywhere. And, even if she couldn’t, she’d still recognize the star-shaped birthmark on the man’s left shoulder.

The man notices Johana and smiles. He does a backflip off the chair and walks over to Johana. “Cousin!” he says, arms spread for a hug.

Johana groans.
