"Gathakarma Sukta: The Sacred Alchemy of Sacrifice in Spiritual Fulfillment"

Gathakarma Sukta (Hymn to the Sacrifice)
"Yajnasya deva sadasad yajnasyo apavataka | Yajñasya vasu sarvatama yajnasya purna kamah." (The sacrifice is the seat of the gods, the sacrifice is the purifier. The sacrifice is the supreme treasure, the sacrifice is the fulfillment of desires.) - RV X.121.8
Introduction:
In the ancient tapestry of Vedic hymns, the Gathakarma Sukta emerges as a profound ode to the transformative power of sacrifice. Rooted in the Rig Veda (X.121.8), the verse "Yajnasya deva sadasad yajnasyo apavataka" extols the virtues of sacrifice as the seat of the gods, the purifier, the supreme treasure, and the fulfiller of desires. This exploration delves into the spiritual depth of Gathakarma Sukta, unveiling its timeless wisdom for the seekers on LinkedIn.
The Essence of Gathakarma Sukta:
The Gathakarma Sukta opens a gateway to understanding the sacred science of sacrifice (Yajna) in the Vedic tradition. Beyond ritualistic interpretations, the hymn conveys profound spiritual insights, emphasizing the transformative nature of sacrificial acts and their role in attaining spiritual fulfillment.
Sacrifice as the Seat of the Gods:
"Yajnasya deva sadasad" establishes the profound connection between sacrifice and the divine realm. The ritual of Yajna is portrayed as a sacred arena where the gods converge, finding their eternal abode. This imagery suggests that acts of sacrifice create a space for divine presence, facilitating a communion between the human and the divine.
The Purifying Essence of Sacrifice:
"Yajnasyo apavataka" denotes the purifying essence of sacrifice. In the Vedic context, Yajna is not merely an external ritual but an internal alchemy, purifying the mind, heart, and soul. The act of sacrifice is likened to a transformative fire that burns away impurities, allowing the individual to emerge spiritually refined.
Sacrifice as the Supreme Treasure:
"Yajñasya vasu sarvatama" exalts sacrifice as the supreme treasure, emphasizing its immeasurable value. This perspective transcends material wealth and highlights the spiritual wealth accrued through selfless acts of sacrifice. It suggests that the true richness lies in the selfless giving of oneself for the greater good.
Fulfillment of Desires Through Sacrifice:
"Yajnasya purna kamah" asserts that sacrifice is the fulfillment of desires. Here, desires are not confined to mundane or fleeting wishes but refer to the deep yearnings of the soul. The hymn suggests that true fulfillment comes when individuals align their actions with the greater cosmic order, realizing their spiritual aspirations through sacrificial acts.
The Relevance of Gathakarma Sukta in Modern Professional Life:
As professional community seeks meaning beyond career achievements, the principles embedded in Gathakarma Sukta offer profound insights for integrating spirituality into the workplace. Its relevance extends to individuals navigating the complexities of modern professional life, providing a contemplative lens through which to view the transformative power of selfless acts.
Creating a Divine Presence in the Workplace:
In the corporate arena, Gathakarma Sukta invites professionals to infuse a sense of sacredness into their work. By approaching tasks with dedication, ethical conduct, and a spirit of service, individuals can create a workplace environment that resonates with the divine—a space where the gods metaphorically find their seat.
Purifying the Corporate Mindset:
The purifying essence of sacrifice finds resonance in the need for ethical conduct and integrity in business. Gathakarma Sukta encourages professionals to engage in self-reflection, identifying and rectifying impurities that may hinder the collective progress. The transformative fire of sacrifice becomes a catalyst for purifying the corporate mindset.
Spiritual Wealth Beyond Material Gain:
In a world driven by material success, Gathakarma Sukta challenges the prevailing notion of wealth. It urges professionals to recognize the supreme treasure in selfless service, collaboration, and contributing to the well-being of the organization and society. This shift in perspective fosters a culture where spiritual wealth is valued as an integral component of success.
Aligning Professional Aspirations with Cosmic Harmony:
Gathakarma Sukta encourages individuals to view their professional endeavours as sacrificial acts aligned with the cosmic order. By cultivating a mindset that places the greater good above personal gain, professionals can fulfill their deeper spiritual aspirations, finding purpose and satisfaction in contributing to the cosmic symphony of existence.
Cultivating the Spirituality of Sacrifice in Professional Life:
Integrating the principles of Gathakarma Sukta into professional life involves a conscious and intentional effort. Here are practical steps for individuals seeking to cultivate the spirituality of sacrifice in their careers:
1. Align Actions with Ethical Principles: Ensure that professional actions align with ethical principles. Prioritize integrity, honesty, and transparency in all dealings, fostering a workplace culture built on trust.
2. Embrace a Spirit of Service: Approach tasks with a spirit of service, recognizing the value of contributing to the collective well-being. Seek opportunities to support colleagues, mentor others, and contribute to the organization's broader goals.
3. Practice Mindful Decision-Making: Cultivate mindfulness in decision-making. Before making choices, reflect on their potential impact on colleagues, the organization, and society at large. Choose actions that align with the principles of sacrifice and contribute positively to the greater good.
4. Cultivate a Culture of Collaboration: Foster a culture of collaboration within the workplace. Recognize the interconnectedness of individuals and departments, encouraging teamwork and shared success. Embrace a mindset that values collective achievement over individual recognition.
5. Participate in Social Responsibility Initiatives: Engage in social responsibility initiatives as part of professional endeavours. This could involve volunteering, supporting charitable causes, or actively participating in initiatives that contribute to the well-being of the community.
Conclusion:
Gathakarma Sukta, with its timeless wisdom, serves as a guiding light for professionals seeking spiritual fulfillment in their careers. "Yajnasya deva sadasad yajnasyo apavataka" echoes through the ages, inviting individuals to recognize the transformative power of sacrifice in creating a workplace culture that aligns with divine principles. As we explore the spiritual terrain mapped by Gathakarma Sukta, may we find inspiration to infuse our professional lives with the sacred alchemy of selfless service and spiritual fulfillment.

Finding Man's True Essence

For centuries, men and women still struggle to fully grasp the truth of our existence. By accumulating ideas of Truth, we advance a step closer to man’s true essence. But even then, some of these proclaimed and imposed ideas lack logical reasoning. Having this stated, the search for man’s true essence becomes riddled with mind-breaking confusions. With the help of scientific principles, humanity continues to flourish through the course of time. We apply the principles of critical thinking and the methods of science to determine the answers to man’s questions. Despite the growing numbers of the garnered discoveries about our existence, there remain aspects which are still beyond our conception—for one, the spiritual aspect. The Spiritual Aspect and Man’s True Essence The practitioners of Science commonly shun the spiritual aspect—the most fundamental aspect. Thus, the quest to find man’s true essence becomes futile. The ideas of Truth that lie in the spiritual aspect remain undiscovered. Is there a reason for ignoring the spiritual aspect? Reasonable people often drag the mistakes of the past into the present, affecting greatly or gravely the future thereby. When scientist Galileo Galilei discovered that the earth revolves around the sun, the Catholic church rebuked him. As a result, people began to doubt the doctrines of the church. As scientific discoveries proved most religious teachings wrong, people began to deem the spiritual aspect unnecessary. Moreover, advocates of Science ridicule people who assert the essential of the aforementioned aspect. They treat Science and faith as if they were oil and water. When running a careful analysis of certain matters, we use the methods of Science. Yet, some advocates of Science assume that the scientific method applies not to understanding the spiritual concept. Perceived as a composition of figments of imagination, the spiritual truth remains buried. Additionally, claims and stories told after experiencing momentary unconsciousness are anecdotal evidence. And for Science, this is not a good enough evidence. However, if scientists accumulate these “claims” and “stories”, a study concerning spiritual related matters can be conducted. By identifying the similarities and differences of the circumstances, the accumulated data can result in the emergence of new ideas of Truth. Perhaps these newly discovered truths bring enlightenment to questions that remain unanswered until now. Welcoming the ideas that seemingly make sense to some is the key to finding what’s true—including man’s true essence. Through this, we advance greatly in the quest for finding and understanding the very essence of man. The principles of Science paired with the openness of mind through faith draws us closer to the most profound principles of all principles—The Divine Principles. Read the full article

God could have continued His providence through Adam despite the fall of Eve. Would this principle work if the roles were reversed?
'Perfect Adam and Eve were supposed to have become an eternal husband and wife in God’s love. But Eve, who in her immaturity had engaged in the illicit relationship with the Archangel, joined with Adam as husband and wife. Thus, Adam fell when he, too, was still immature. What if Adam had reached perfection without having yielded to fallen Eve’s temptation? The providence to restore Eve alone would have been relatively easy because, although she had fallen, Adam still would have remained intact as her perfect subject partner. Unfortunately, Adam also fell, and humanity has multiplied in sin to the present day, perpetuating the lineage of Satan.' http://dplife.info/divineprinciple/part-i-chapter-2-the-human-fall/
Thus, according to divine principle, God could have continued His providence through Adam despite the fall of Eve, had Adam not fallen, Would this principle work if the roles were reversed? If Adam had fallen instead of Eve and Eve had reached perfection instead of Adam, could God have continued His providence through Eve?
Could this be what happened in the Unification church? Could it be that despite the fall of Moon (Adam) through providential adultery, God continued to work His providence through the Unification church based on the foundation of Hak Ja Han (Eve)? Could this be why God and Jesus continued to lead people to the church of Moon* even after Moon had already failed? Could this be the principle behind the providence of 'God's only begotten daughter'?:
'True Mother blamed True Father for the breakdown of the True Family because of his unstinting commitment to a lifetime of continuous providential affairs. After her first-born Hyo Jin’s own life and marriage fell apart, True Mother started to doubt True Father’s providential reasoning. Mother started to reason that she had more faith, sacrifice and commitment than True Father. That she had become perfected as True Mother before True Father had reached perfection, that True Father was still confused and continually contradicting himself by changing his teaching, beliefs and behavior. Hak Ja Han kept her position as True Mother while Sun Myung Moon rationalized his continued commitment to an ever-increasing number of providential affairs. The continuance of the affairs meant that Sun Myung Moon was not ready for marriage and not yet perfected.' http://whatisonthemoon.tumblr.com/post/154703654896/secret-how-justin-kook-jin-tried-to-usurp-power
Mrs. Moon Hak Ja Han regarding her mission:
" '… people commonly come to the conclusion that I must feel very honored and be very happy to have Father as my husband…They think that I just met Father and we had a very happy family life, and I am just enjoying my position….I was… given an incredible cross to bear in order to become Mother…. Through that tremendous ordeal and hardship, patience, perseverance and extraordinary faith were needed to achieve the expectation of God.' (Again Mother wept.)
Bo Hi Pak: 'When she thinks of the path she walked it automatically brings her to tears because it reminds her of all her hardships and tribulations. This is why, as you can see, Mother is very emotional and sorrowful this morning. Just thinking of the things she passed through is incredible torture.' " From “Mother’s Testimony: Sun Myung Moon and Hak Ja Han Moon At True Parent’s Wedding Anniversary May 3, 1977, East Garden Translator: Bo Hi Pak” http://www.tparents.org/Moon-Talks/sunmyungmoon77/SM770503.htm _______________________________________
*Some examples of being led:
Karen Alleyne Taylor (former member): “I had dreams of him (Moon) long before I joined the UC and I continued to have dreams of him while I was a member. I imagine I will continue to dream of him still…”
" I was in a place not unlike heaven in the spirit world. Jesus appeared in the distance and began approaching me. At one point he stopped and gave me an ancient salutation. As he did so, a voice spoke and all around me the atmosphere rumbled with the sound. It was like the voice of God and it said, 'This is Jesus, the Christ.' Another man dressed in Oriental garb appeared beside Jesus - it was Father. They then became one and Father went inside of Jesus, and Jesus' face became magnificently radiant as he continued to walk towards me...From then on True Father began to appear. And since I was alone, he came to guide me in the big and little things of life. There was no way I could doubt, no way I could turn away... " Face to Face by Mr. Philip K. Burley Experiences with Jesus http://www.euro-tongil.org/swedish/english/testim_burley.htm
"Jesus appeared to me day and night for a period of forty days, telling me many wonderful things that would come on earth in the years ahead. Often when Jesus appeared to me there was an Oriental man with him; they seemed absolutely one in heart. Later, when I realized that Father (Sun Myung Moon) was on earth, I knew that this man I had seen with Jesus was Father... I finally got down on my knees, locked myself in my bedroom and cried out to God, 'I don’t want to sin against You. Please tell me is this man from Korea Your blessed Son?'... I cried and cried, and all of a sudden the room became electrified with the power of God. From spirit world I heard what seemed like thousands of voices singing and shouting, 'And he is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and he will reign forever and ever! Sun Myung Moon, Sun Myung Moon, the Holy One of Israel! Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!' I knew in my heart at that moment, no matter if the whole world denied him, I would follow even unto death." How God and Jesus Led Me to Father 1959-1960 By Mrs. Doris [Orme] http://www.euro-tongil.org/swedish/english/edoris.htm
"As I was on my way and drew near to Damascus, about noon a great light from heaven suddenly shone around me. And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?' And I answered, 'Who are you, Lord?' And he said to me, 'I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.' Now those who were with me saw the light but did not understand the voice of the one who was speaking to me. And I said, 'What shall I do, Lord?' And the Lord said to me, 'Rise, and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all that is appointed for you to do.' And since I could not see because of the brightness of that light, I was led by the hand by those who were with me, and came into Damascus." (Act 22:6-11 ESV)

Reasonable Faith

Truth is only truth as long as it is backed with substantiated reasons and factual logic, or at least that is what the common people believe in. This is the foundation that science relies on – accumulating all the facts about the proposed problems and providing factual evidence of whatever the findings may be. For this very case, Human Spirituality is seen as something too far out of scientific reach. Not Knowing All the Facts Does not Mean Its Essence Is without Reason. We begin by investigating the domain of spirituality, at its core, leaving behind biased beliefs of its obscurity. Divine Principles provides a mathematical system that is capable of verifying an existence of something beyond human control. In its wake, it has discovered realities about our universe that are both shocking and understandable. It does not have a name for it but a Higher Being who reigns above all mere beings who hold no power whatsoever in knowing, let alone controlling all that makes the universe. This Being is someone who has power to command even our influence as human beings. Through this method provided, we can exclusively proceed to gather actual events that occurred in our physical realm. The Reasons of the Faithful Are Sensible and Sound. “There is no reason the basic material comprising our universe could not be vibrating at rates we are not able to detect with our physical senses, but could with ones tuned to those rates. In fact, that is something we do every night when we dream or often when we pray or meditate.” The moment we close our eyes, we leave ourselves open to a reality we cannot see. When we let ourselves dive deep into that floating and receptive state, we allow ourselves to connect to those things our conscious selves normally cannot comprehend. There is no sieve that can unconsciously separate what is Truth and what we ignorantly deem as reality. Then the supernatural finds its way inside us. We gather enough random people who have had these extraordinary phenomena randomly happen to them, and we have something to begin working with. Just because they are not inclined to what we conceive to be normal does not mean they are not reasons of value. It still begs for faith, but with the undeniable occurrences happening it becomes a reasoned faith this time. Read the full article

A Guide to where the Spirits May Be

Divine Principles shows us the scientific blueprint that helps in building or at least strengthening the institution of Faith. This faith means the existence of a supreme God that makes contacts with us humans through our individual souls. The messages are sent via the collective spirits that move around us. These forces are outside us as much as they can echo back to the forces within us. How Does this Book Help Us in Believing such an Idea? The particulars provided are not the kind that lingers in perfection, but discovers the flaws and finds ways in mending them. It accepts that we are not entirely controlled by this Higher Being, rather we are given free will to make our choices. The good part is that even if we made the final decisions, we are still assisted by Fate. Destiny becomes something not so terrifying, but a source of relief when things become so wretched to live. This helps us endure and still remain good in our humanity and belief. The read takes us on a journey of rights and wrongs, where we may find answers to past questions or where we are challenged to ask for more than what we know in the present. It takes us to the deeper parts of our being, to the edges of our minds, and to places in the universe we haven’t traversed yet. Why Should We Look into these Parts of the Universe, this Part of Us? “To know there is a source of love and understanding that we can learn to draw upon to make our lives better, doesn’t mean much if we can’t figure out a way of accessing and utilizing that knowing.” We should because it is not enough to know, to simply say we accept its existence. It is in the knowing that we start to understand, and by comprehending we can begin to connect to the inner workings of our world. Through this perception, we can admit the destruction that surrounds us. By arriving there, we must then bravely lend a hand to heal who can be healed, cure what can be cured, and love those that needs our love. Read the full article

We Are More than We Are

We are not just flesh and bone. Deeper than the veins etched inside us, more vital than the blood feeding our life like batteries on a clockwork, and far stronger than the muscles that carry us through the day is an existence that we put to the sidelines because we simply cannot easily comprehend it. What Could Make Us More Human than the Parts that Keep Us Alive? Contemplating that question is a good start. It says in the book, “The existence of who we really are cannot possibly depend on the creation of the physical body we are currently using.” This statement pushes us to give chance to the possibility that there is something greatly profound in our being, more than what we think we can perceive. The very essence that make us who and what we truly are run deep. It spans across time and tangible reality. There is a connection among the well-spun threads of the past, the present, and the potentiality of weaving with the future. Be that as it may, the choice to mingle one’s time and trust to such objectives relies on our decision. Should we choose to stay and learn, we may reap knowledge far beneficial to humanity than we could ever think. Presuming some people would rather not waste their time on such matters, they will miss a part of learning that could have helped them understand a little more about the universe around us, and the one inside us. It is not the ending that counts, but what we garner and make the best of on our spiritual quests for knowledge. Why Does It Matter: Deciphering the Mystery of Divine Revelation The answer is simple really. Only by completing the fundamental parts that make us human beings with attachment to our surroundings can we fully integrate the elements that partake in the creation of who we are, how we can be, and why we must be. An Idea, an Illusion: In Retrospect

Our universe is composed of so many parts, Earth is but a mere dot in its vastness. Still, our planet is more than enough for us human beings living in here. For something so small in the eyes of the cosmos, our world is too full in its intricate existence. A Reflection on the Ideas (or Illusions) that Are Presented. The book begins in its praise to the institution of Science which has provided mankind with answers leading to countless benefits and has remained in its confidence by maintaining its authenticity and realistic logic. Then it opens up to circumstances that happened to random individuals, but cannot be accepted by everyone. It admits that such events are so unnatural, Science itself has turned its back against it. So we are brought to Faith – the astounding capacity for mankind to believe in something without demanding for too much proof. It is easier to get a handle of our world if we just believe what we can’t comprehend, or so a part of the population wants to accept. The beauty of going through the ideas given in Divine Principles is that it does not force itself unto the readers. They merely fill the spoon with foods for thought and leave the rest of what has to be done to be decided by us. We can choose to throw them away in the wide void of ignorance, or we can be courageous in the process of understanding them. Each of us individuals is left to chew the ideas the way we want to, and to only swallow what we can. The knowledge is not completely new, but the way they are exposed is through systems that are baffling but convincing. We can accept the ideas as real, or fully reject them in their delusional excuses. What it truly delivers is beseeching every single one of us to take the time to ponder, to study, to find out and deal with all the parts of our world that make it go round – the ones we can control and the ones we better admit we can never.
