Are we really listening?

I am sure many of you have had this experience. You post something very specific on your social media, asking for specific input (perhaps from specific groups of people) and most ignore what you are really asking for.... and everyone who has a thought about the subject responds, ignoring the parameters you have indicated for the information you are seeking.

No judging - we all do it, so it occured to me, in this digital age, the art of 'listening' is about taking the time to ingest what we read, as if that person was right in front of us speaking. Consider what they are seeking to glean and from whom. If you're situation doesn't fit the specifics of their request, ask yourself if you're answering for them, or for you.

As an Autistic person, it's very difficult for me when what I am posting about feels relatively ignored, so others can give me advice I'm not asking for. For me, as someone who is easily overstimulated (ADHD), providing 'additional' information feels extraneous and frustrating.

Someone posted recently on one of my social media accounts the need for discernment. Magick and Intuitive practices require a great deal of the art of discernment. If we cannot effectively discern the intent of another, how can we expect to discern our own personal intentions?

Sometimes, we just have to step back and ask what it is that we are contributing to the dialogue and what the intent is of sharing it. No one likes unsolicited advice, and I often find folks offer additional information one could easily assume the author already knows.

My answer, when I feel like adding information not requested, is to simply post on my own account my particular thoughts, if I feel like they have value, but otherwise, I don't respond anymore. I'm really trying to be mindful of the person with whom I am engaged and respectful of any parameters they may have placed on a particular inquiry.

Anyhoo... my vent session for the day. I'm really working on hard on just listening, w/o an agenda, w/o the insertion of my own knowledge, etc... so that when I do engage, it will be meaningful.
