Please tell me about your ocs!!! they caught my eye and now I'm interested. Give me the summary or the full dump, either works
omigod okay so like i've had these characters for nearly 2 years now (2 years on the 11th !!) so i cant possibly tell you EVERYTHING about them but I CAN tell you the basics !!!
those basics being they're from a story set in an apocalyptic future, where the System (run by The Emperor) has control over the City, the last form of advanced civilization left in the cold, barren wasteland that Earth has become.
however, there are other civilizations that exist outside of the City, such as the one i call the Underground, where my ocs live !!
the main group are a hodgepodge family of people who have either managed to escape the City, or have lived outside of its walls their entire lives. I'm trying not to give too much away because one day i hope to one day make a full comic out of this story, but I can tell you a lil about each character !!
Starting with the main 3, Oliver O'Brien (he/him), Evrard Raine(he/him), and Kid Raine(-O'Brien)(they/them)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This trio met when trying to escape the City at the same time. Evrard was running with Kid, who was barely 6 at the time, and with Oliver's help, the trio got past the guarded walls. With more of Oliver's help, Ev and Kid managed to not die in the harsh conditions, and eventually they found themselves at the Underground !!!
There they found some new, and old, faces- such as Tess O'Brien(he/they), Oliver's twin that he vaguely remembers having (but did not grow up with) who was Evrard's childhood best friend until he disappeared many years ago-
Tumblr media
Madison Cabot(she/her), also an old friend from the city who escaped.
Tumblr media
Phoenix Morin(they/them) (design's still in the works), who's lived in the Underground their whole life, and is thrilled to fill newcomers in on things they never learned inside the walls, such as Romance and Dating !!
Tumblr media
and Dixie Cabot(she/her), a child whom escaped with Madi and was later adopted by her :)
Tumblr media
There are more- PLENTY more characters in this story, such as the UPEs, but I don't want to give TOO much away, in case I do get around to making that comic ;)
ty so much for asking tho i have so many thoughts about these characters and im jumping at the bit to talk about them sdhjgfjsdhgf

I read 230 books in 2017.
Down fifteen from last year...I am a math genius and initially miscounted by ten somehow, so I though I had hit 240...this was not so. The fluctuations tell you when I was studying for exams. (I’m done with all my fall exams now so I only have one scheduled for next year!) I did not make a new year’s book-of-the-month resolution and did not really expand into audiobooks more either. Oh well. This was a tough year for me all around and I’m hoping for a better one to follow.

Chocolate Chip Pecan Cinnamon Rolls
Tumblr media
Ingredients
For the Rolls
2 1/4 oz packages active dry yeast
1 cup buttermilk, warmed to 110 degrees F
1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled
1/3 cup sugar
1 teas salt
2 eggs
3 1/2 - 4 cups flour
For the Filling
1/2 cup peacans
1 cup nutella, warmed but not hot
1 teas cinnamon
1/2 cup chocolate chips (I used dark chocolate chips)
For the Glaze
3 oz cream cheese, softened
1 tbsp powered sugar
1 tbsp buttermilk
1/4 teas hazelnut bakery emulsion
1/2 teas cinnamon
Preparation
For the Rolls
Mix the yeast in a mixing cup with the warmed buttermilk and allow to sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Meanwhile, whisk the butter, sugar, salt, and eggs in a large bowl.
In the bowl of your stand mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment, add 2 cups of the flour and make a well in the center for the buttermilk. Pour the buttermilk-yeast mixture and the butter-egg mix and start mixing slowly adding in the remaining 1 1/2 cups flour, 1/2 cup at a time.
Knead on low for 5 to 10 minutes until the dough forms a ball. Add the remaining 1/2 cup if the dough is not coming together.
Transfer the dough to a grease bowl, cover and allow to rest in a warm dry area, until doubled in size, about 1 1/2 hours.
Turn the dough out onto a clean working surface sprinkled with a bit of flour. Divide in half and roll out into a large rectangle
For the Filling
Toast the pecans in a preheated oven at 400 for 5 to 7 minutes, until fragrant. Remove, allow to cool, and chop.
Spread the nutella filling evenly over the rolled out dough., leaving an inch on a long end to roll. Sprinkle with cinnamon and chopped toasted pecans.
Tightly roll towards the edge that has been left clear, and cut into equal portions.
Arrange the rolls in a grease baking dish, cut side down, and cover.
Allow to rest, 45 minutes to 1 hour, until risen again.
To Make the Chocolate chip Pecan Cinnamon Rolls
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Bake the cinnamon rolls for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden and cooked through.
Remove from oven to cool
Make the Glaze
While the chocolate chip pecan cinnamon rolls are cooling, whisk the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar, buttermilk, hazelnut bakery emulsion and cinnamon. Spread over the cooled (but still warm) rolls and sprinkle with more toasted chopped pecans for serving.
Adapted From
Alternatively, you can line a cast iron pan with parchment and bake the rolls in cast iron.

Fred's store closings 2019: Discount chain shuttering 159 stores
Fred's store closings 2019: Discount chain shuttering 159 stores Discount chain Fred's is joining the growing list of retailers shuttering stores amid slumping sales. The Memphis-based company announced Thursday that it would close 159 underperforming stores by the end of May with "going out of business" sales starting Thursday as it looks to reduce its store footprint and "evaluate strategic alternatives." The retailer said in a statement that it retained investment banking advisory firm PJ Solomon to assess its options "to maximize value" and hired liquidation firms Malfitano Advisors and SB360 Capital Partners "to help manage the process and ensure a seamless experience for customers." When companies announce they are considering "strategic alternatives," it often involves a potential sale or restructuring. The closing stores represent nearly 29% of Fred's 557 stores and are located in 13 states, with Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee losing the most stores.   Sales at Fred's stores open at least a year fell 4.9% in the first nine months of 2018, compared with a year earlier. "After a careful review, we have made the decision to rationalize our footprint by closing underperforming stores, with a particular focus on locations with shorter duration leases," Fred’s CEO Joseph Anto said in the statement. "Most of these stores have near‐term lease expirations and limited remaining lease obligations." Shares of Fred's were down nearly 5.8% at $1.97 in midday Thursday trading after the announcement. Store closings 2019: Payless, Gymboree and Victoria's Secret are just some of the brands closing locations The start of a new Sears era?: The retailer announces openings, not closings

Discount chain Fred's is joining the growing list of retailers shuttering stores amid slumping sales.
The liquidation
Also Thursday, SB360 Capital Partners, which is managing the closing sales, announced the firm was launching “Total Inventory Blowout” clearance sales at an additional 360 Fred's stores. Discounts are 5% to 20% off the lowest ticketed price with some exclusions at both the closing locations and stores holding clearance sales, SB360 officials told USA TODAY.  “Fred’s stores bring the everyday necessities closer to home, and they do it at discount prices,” said Ziggy Schaffer, an executive vice president with SB360. “The store closing and total inventory blowout events will bring value on top of value.” With most of Fred’s stores in smaller communities, Aaron Miller, an executive vice president with SB360, said they’re expecting “a pretty strong response from the customers.” “Fred’s has a loyal following and we’re expecting increased traffic,” Miller said. “The merchandise will go quickly.” SB360 has managed liquidation sales for more than 50 years and is an affiliate of the Schottenstein family, which also owns DSW Inc. and American Eagle Outfitters. It recently handled the Charlotte Russe liquidation. Fred’s will remain “a one-stop shop with continued replenishment of food staples,” Miller said, noting milk, eggs, beverages and frozen items would be restocked throughout the sale. Only 37 stores, or 7%, of stores are not included in either the clearance or liquidation sales.
What happened
In 2017, a deal for Fred's to acquire hundreds of Rite Aid or Walgreens stores collapsed when a mega-merger between the pharmacy giants deteriorated. Months later, Fred's announced it was considering "strategic transactions and alternatives for certain non-core assets," including real estate and specialty pharmacy business. Last September, Fred’s reached an agreement to sell the pharmacy patient prescription files and related pharmacy inventory of 179 Fred’s stores located across 10 southeastern states to Walgreens for $165 million.  . With Thursday's announcement, Fred's said it is "continuing to pursue the sale of its remaining pharmacy assets as part of its previously announced plan." Fred's is part of a wave of recent retail closures. Based on figures from global marketing research firm Coresight Research, bankruptcy filings and company earnings reports, more than 6,500 stores are slated to close locations in 2019. The brick-and-mortar downturn is expected to continue, according to a new report released this week from UBS Securities. Investment bank analysts said 75,000 more stores would need to be shuttered by 2026 if e-commerce “penetration rises from 16% currently to 25%.”
What's next for Fred's
In Fred's statement Thursday, the company said PJ Solomon would do a "thorough evaluation" of the company's plan and look for alternatives. "There can be no assurance that the strategic review will result in any specific action, or any assurance as to its outcome or timing," the statement said. The number of employees affected was not immediately available. “Decisions that impact our associates in this way are difficult, but the steps we are announcing are necessary,” Anto said. “We will make every effort to transition impacted associates to other stores where possible.” There are no plans to close a majority or all Fred's stores or to file for bankruptcy, The Wall Street Journal reported last week.
Stores closings
Liquidation is getting underway at 159 Fred's stores in 13 states with discounts ranging from 5% to 20% on most items with some exclusions. The stores are expected to close by the end of May.

Grand Marnier French Toast #BrunchWeek
This is the sort of quick and easy brunch recipe that looks and sounds incredibly fancy, but comes together fast! Grand Marnier French Toast is perfect for a special holiday or just because!
This post is sponsored in conjunction with #BrunchWeek. I received product samples from sponsor companies to aid in the creation of the #Brunchweek recipes. All opinions are mine alone.
What happens when you want to dive into a plate of childhood nostalgia smothered in maple syrup and powdered sugar, but also want the fun of ‘adulting’ at brunch? Pretty much an excuse to add some liquor.
In this case, just that.  I wanted a thick perfect slice of Fench toast and the feeling of a perfect Sunday brunch, mimosas and all. So I grabbed the Grand Marnier and made a theme of it.
French toast is best with really eggy bread. Think challah or brioche. Something that already is loaded with flavor. Slice it and let it sit in the air for a few hours before making, so the semi-stale bread absorbs more liquid without falling apart on you.
By the time the gang is all over for brunch, this Grand Marnier French toast comes together quick! I cheat and keep my oven on 200 degrees F with an oven-safe dish in there so that I can pop slices in, and keep them hot and fresh, while I chat and toast all of them.
So, ready for some more brunch week awesomeness? Maybe a little weekend hurrah? This recipe is fast, fancy and perfect for a Mother’s Day Brunch, or a Tuesday stay-cation, and everything in between.
Now, onto the #BrunchWeek goodies… (Psst, did you see my other Brunch Week post? The Chocolate Chip Pecan Cinnamon Rolls make the Dough Boy jump for joy)
See this post for the full list of swag!

Grand Marnier French Toast
Ingredients
1 loaf challah bread, sliced 1" thick (Brioche is also a great bread for this)
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 teas orange juice
2 teas orange zest
1 tbs grand marnier liquor (or orange flavored liquor)
1 teas vanilla extract
1/4 cup sugar
butter for melting
Maple syrup, powdered sugar, and additional orange wedges or slices for garnish
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F.
Beat the eggs, heavy cream, orange juice, zest, grand marnier liquor, vanilla, and sugar together in a large bowl until everything is well combined and starting to foam a bit.
Preheat a large griddle or skillet over medium-high heat.
Add a pat of butter to coat pan, keeping more on hand as needed.
Soak the challah slices in the egg mixture, flipping to coat evenly on either side.
Place the egg soaked challah onto the hot cook surface and toast until golden.
Flip and toast the remaining site until golden.
Keep the toasted pieces warmed in the oven as you work through all of the slices.
Serve with softened butter, warmed maple syrup and a generous sprinkle of powedered sugar.
Adapted From
Use an orange emulsion instead of orange juice in this recipe to double down on the orange flavor!

Things to do in Montréal April 14 to 20
Montréal celebrates the return of spring with Easter brunches, Cirque du Soleil’s newest show, musical swings and butterflies, NHL playoffs and pro soccer, martial arts merged with dance, and live music by the Dixie Chicks, Jackson Brown, PJ Harvey and more.
Easter weekend activities
Montréal makes the most of the Easter long weekend, from staying active to religiously reflecting, whether you’re here with friends, family or that special someone – see our guide to Easter weekend 2017 for some ideas. Swing like you’re a kid again – and make music at the same time! – at 21 Swings outside Place des Arts in the Quartier des Spectacles, part of this year’s Digital Spring art-meets-tech explorations. Observe butterflies up close and in the hundreds at the Botanical Garden greenhouse’s Butterflies Go Free event, part of the Montréal Space for Life‘s manyactivities. The NHL playoffs have hockey fans at the edge of their seats: the Montréal Canadiens face off against the New York Rangers at the Bell Centre on April 14. For soccer fans: Minor League Soccer team Montréal Impact plays Atlanta United FC in the season home opener on April 15 at Saputo Stadium. Take a walk off the beaten path to discover welcoming and wonderful quirky spots in Montréal, from urban caves to arcade bars to Montréal’s best karaoke bars. And have fun for free with free things to do this Spring in Montréal.
Food and drink
Weekend brunch is an Easter must, but weekday brunch was truly made for leisurely vacationing: satisfy your mid-morning (or early afternoon) cravings with some of Montréal’s best brunches, from Old Montréal excellence to quaint neighbourhood café creations and worldly delights to classics with a gourmet twist. Discover the city sights and eat well along the way on Montréal’s best food tours. Have some fun this week friends and Montréalers alike with our guide to restaurants, bars and parties for spring break in Montréal. Catch the yearly end of a Québécois tradition: cabane à sucre sugar shack season – fill up on tourtière, sugar pie, sausages, maple syrup candy and so much more. Add more sweetness to your day at the city’s best candy shops. Explore great places to eat in the HOMA neighbourhood or the menus of new Montréal restaurants. Relax with a cup of tea at Montréal’s tea houses, or try a signature cocktail at one of Montréal’s hidden bars. And plan your next visit around Montréal’s fabulous food festivals!

Immerse yourself in the high-tech visuals and live piano performance by Roman Zavada in Résonances Boréales, plus the global Music Legacy Project, April 11-29, in the Satosphere dome. Learn more about Montréal history in documentary The Last Breath: at the Heart of the Hotel-Dieu de Montreal, a hospital as old as the city and soon to be out of commission, and peek into one of the world’s foremost private gardens, Frank Cabot’s 20-acre English garden Les Quatre Vents, in doc The Gardener, both playing at Cinéma du Parc.

Experience one of the city’s most stunning churches in a whole new way: immersive high-tech light show Aura adds another level of beauty to Notre-Dame Basilica this year. Nearby, see the city in photographs at Le Centre d’histoire de Montréal’s Ça c’est Montréal. Later, walk through Old Montréal at night to see Québéc history unfold in the beautifully bright tableaux projections of Cité Memoire. Witness mastery of colour and light in CHAGALL: COLOUR AND MUSIC at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, featuring not only 340 pieces by the Russian-French artist but musical accompaniment. And questions of human bodies, digital creation and perceived reality come up in the computer-generated multi-channel video work of Berlin-based British artist Ed Atkins‘s exhibition Modern Piano Music at DHC-ART, opening April 20.

Monday night brings the classic British indie rock of The Wedding Present to Bar Le Ritz P.D.B. Simon Leclerc conducts the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal’s OSM Pop concert featuring Québécois singers Bïa, Bruno Pelletier, Paul Piché, Marc Hervieux, Catherine Major and more, April 18-20 at Place des Arts. Bask in the noise of Wolf Eyes and Drainolith on Tuesday at Casa del Popolo or in the chill vibes of R&B soul singer Allan Rayman with opener Mariachi Figueroa on Wednesday at La Sala Rossa. And if you’re looking for a musical experience en français, go to Damien Robitaille‘s show on April 20 at Club Soda.

Readers Choice 2017 results
Soup to nuts, restaurant-wise.
The Arkansas Times has been publishing its readers' choices for the state's best restaurants longer than most of the staff has been alive. That means our writers have been raised on our readers' recommendations: For 36 years, you've put your votes where your mouths are and we have dutifully reported the results.
Our exhaustive questionnaire — with its 45 categories — came up with The Pantry Eatery as Little Rock's "overall" winner and The Hive in Bentonville as the state winner. Both have gotten plenty of ink in the Arkansas Times, so we turned our feature writers loose on a couple of winners in the "new" category: Honey Pies in Little Rock and The Preacher's Son in Bentonville. DeLuca's Pizzeria in Hot Springs won that city's best restaurant award; we got the fascinating story of how proprietor Anthony Valinoti went from Wall Street to the Spa City's Park Avenue.
Because hamburgers are king, we pulled one up from the food truck Excaliburger, which some folks find magical. With our sticky fingers on the pulse of what's trendy in the world of chow, we also offer this year a review of ticketed dinners.
