What is this?

It's the release order of the Doctor Who revival series and accompanying specials and spin-off series.

Why did you do this?

To make sure I don't watch my time-travel shows non-chronologically, obviously. And since I'd already put the list together I thought I might as well share it.

Hey! Some of these aren't strictly in release order!

I know and I don't care. Those cases don't matter.

Does any of it matter? Why not watch each series standalone?

There are some crossover moments! I thought it'd be neat to see those play out the same way as a broadcast viewer would.

Fortunately, to stop him there's help from an unexpected source: a future version of Peri. She knows Zarl's dark secret.

Episode Summaries under the cut

58: Planet of the Dead - 2009 Easter Special: While the Doctor is traveling on a bus, it drives through a portal, transporting them to a desert planet. He and another passenger, Lady Christina de Souza, go to explore the area and are captured by aliens Tritovores who reveal that the sandstorm approaching is actually a swarm of alien creatures who have eaten the Tritoveres planet, reducing it to a desert. The massive energy of them in the swarm is generating the portal the bus came through and will allow them to move on to Earth to keep feeding. They are able to use some technology from the aliens to make the bus fly and make it back to Earth, where the Doctor is able to close the portal.

71: The Fires of Pompeii - Season 4, Episode 2: The Doctor takes Donna for her first official trip as a companion, but takes her to Pompeii instead of Rome, the day before the volcano will explode. Donna wants to evacuate the city, but the Doctor claims that Pompeii is a fixed point in history and they can't change anything. They find that all of the soothsayers in the city can accurately predict the future and read minds. They do this by inhaling vapors from the vents around Pompeii, but also causes them to slowly turn to stone. Mysteriously, the only thing the soothsayers seem unable to see is the volcano erupting.

They discover that the dust is made out of rock-like aliens that are converting the soothsayers into their species. Their base is inside the volcano sapping energy from it, which in turn would cause it to never erupt. They plan to conquer the Earth as they lost their own planet. The Doctor realizes that in order to preserve history, he must disable their device and cause the volcano to erupt himself, killing everybody in Pompeii to save the Earth. He makes the decision and begins to leave, but Donna begs him to save at least one person, so they return to save a family they met and use the TARDIS to get them to safety.
