The reason adults in fandom spaces are so baffled now by the puriteens is because we remember being teens in fandom and having no issues with adults and nsfw (this isn't to say everyone felt this way, I know there was a lot of bad shit in the late 2000s, 2010s as well, but I've met enough adults that say the same as me to think it's a fair generalizations).

... We minded our business or kept our mouths fucking shut if WE made the decision to seek it out. And if I didn't seek it out and saw it I'd go "oh 😳" and then scroll away. I saw my first doujinshin when I was 13, I was (attempting) to write smut at 14, I was 15 in group chats with people in their late 20s, and I felt safe and welcomed, and could very clearly recognize what was fiction vs reality. I was also aroace (though I hadn't realized it at the time), and used NSFW as a way to "experience" those types of feelings I was told high schoolers were supposed to feel but never did. I never felt the need to dictate to the adults how they should consume media, or felt they shouldn't be a part of the Fandom space. If anything, they gave me hope that when I grew up I'd still have my nerdy interests and wouldn't grow out of it like irl people said I would.

I guess the internet wasn't everywhere at that point and you literally could log off and not have to deal with societal pressures and 24/7 surveillance that social media now causes, so maybe that's why idk but it has been a very slow but frustrating thing to watch grow in fandom spaces

I think the bigger issue is how being in fandoms/online at such young ages stunted our ability to socialize irl, something the pandemic exacerbated and made worse for kids, but I don't think yall are ready for that conversation yet

Like a lot of others, Dragon Ball was my first anime. Back when watching anime was weird and annoying.

First fanfic, first doujinshins, my first draws tried to imitate the round eyes style.

Absolutely shaped my mind for things I still discover have the beginning in there. Love for fighting, dumb jokes, gdi, my love for Trunks and 17 are absolutely the point in history where I started my obsession for little jackass femboys who would absolutely kill me. Not to mention that Trunks and Goten were baby first ship and early gayness showing.

Hope Toriyama is doing his training with the Kais, and I will lend my power to him for a genki dama any day.

Is it me or have all the Kakanaru/Narukaka stories on archive my own, Wattpad, and FanFiction.Net been getting neglected lately? I go on every so often( cuz I don’t have notifications on) for new chapters or hopefully new stories and there’s really nothing ever since change of color by Narlya came out there really hasn’t been anything beside the seraph project but that really hasn’t gotten into the deeper psyche of either Naruto or Kakashi on what exactly they are feeling towards one another yes it’s a really slow burn and I don’t mind those but I also need more stories that are either coming out or are finished to keep me busy in between chapters I understand people can only work so fast.

my thoughts: okay okay okay this doujin is THE doujin. i could wax lyrical about 10-ranks i/emi and i won’t do that here but she is, hands down, the best doujin artist this fandom is blessed to have. i started it thinking it’s another very good, porny 10-rankai r18 doujin but i ended up sobbing and crying in bed (it’s 0% smut and 100% plot and feels).

it explores naruto and sasuke’s unresolved feelings but it’s more than that — the core of this is about sasuke’s past and his happier, younger days with fugaku, mikoto, and itachi. young itachi is a joy to read here because you can really tell how he’s already aware and struggling with his konoha vs uchiha loyalties, mikoto and especially fugaku are nuanced, and little sasuke will break your heart. there’s politics and bonds and heart.

this entire thing will break you in the best of ways and you are doing yourself a disservice by not reading it.

11/10 truly the best thing i’ve read that explores sasuke’s family and captures all the love and angst and the sheer inevitability of the uchiha's demise (because the problem is with konoha and the system, and no clan or family or individual can change the system).

I’m so excited to say that I’m turning Mating Fever into a doujinshi! It’s been a thought on the back burner since last May, but I’m finally going for it. This was something I’ve wanted to try for years and never felt enough inspiration to see through, and there’s so many things I’ve wanted to draw from this story that I may as well, you know?
