we need more dragon media that doesnt

1. have only one or a few dragons and rarely shows them

2. the only dragon is evil

3. the dragons get killed off for absolutely no fucking reason

4. (can the fourth wing be my entire fourth point???)

5. the dragon is in a human form the entire time

Give me more variety damnit. I’m tired of the games out there that have only scaly webby fire breathing giant lizard as “dragons”.

Even eastern dragon are put in as a afterthought. Grrrr.

There are some neat games I’d encounter here and there, but gosh, more developer need to pick up their slack in things involving dragons. The world doesn’t revolve around just the that one dragon phenotype concept culture myth or lore!!

Also there’s this really cute dragon raising game that’s no longer on the app store 😭 I got so far and now it’s all gone 😔

The real reason your sapient dragon character needs a "rider":

Dragons on the wing are vulnerable to being mobbed by smaller, more agile flyers, particularly in your large rear blind spot, like a bird of prey being mobbed by crows. Having a human armed with a long spear perched on your back helps to dissuade anyone from getting any funny ideas.

Breath weapons are impressive enough on the ground, but in flight they're really only good for strafing stationary targets; trying to use your breath weapon in an aerial dogfight is a good way to get fire up your nose. A real fight calls for sterner measures – and, concomitantly, a crew to aim and reload the cannons.

In today's competitive world, it's not enough to devour a flock of sheep and call it a day if you want to keep your edge. You're accompanied at all times by a qualified personal alchemist tasked with carefully regulating your internal furnace to ensure peak performance, and sometimes you even listen to them.

No dragon of any quality would be caught dead without their valet. It's not as though you can announce your numerous long-winded titles yourself when introductions are called for, can you? You suppose next you'll be expected to pick up the spoils of your conquests yourself, like a common brigand. Perish the thought!

i can't be the only person who doesn't think Lucanis was imitating Illario during the "almost kiss" scene, right?

to me, it felt more like Lucanis trying - not for the first time in the game - to recapture some of who he was before the ossuary; his confidence. he's been trying, over and over and over, to pretend like he could pick up the pieces of his old life. but he doesn't fit in the mold anymore. Lucanis is trying to give rook the person he used to be - the person he thinks he needs to be - rather than the person he is now (because he doesn't know how to accept that yet).

and when that comes up against how much he realizes he wants them, he snaps away.

you can literally see it on his face. the realization. the sadness. he doesn't want to pull away. but he can't accept rook without accepting that he can't go back to his old life, and he's not ready for that yet.

the person he's imitating isn't Illario.

Lucanis is trying to imitate himself.

man i feel bad for fans of the httyd movies who haven't seen the shows, especially race to the edge. like they don't know that the riders left berk and lived on an outpost together to go adventuring and fight dragon hunters as a team. they don't know that snotlout and astrid and fishlegs and the twins got character development. they don't know how cool and interesting the villains in the shows are compared to the movies. they don't know that the riders are filled with love and loyalty to each other and they bicker and train and play card games with each other and have sleepovers together and will risk their lives for their friends and their dragons in a heartbeat. imagine that.
