DMK Receives Major Donations from Future Gaming, Mega Infra, and India Cements in 2021 Poll Year
In a significant revelation, the Election Commission’s latest data highlights the hefty contributions received by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) through poll bonds during the years leading up to 2023. The ruling party in Tamil Nadu disclosed substantial donations amounting to a staggering Rs 656.5 crore from April 19, 2019, to November 14, 2023.
Tumblr media
During the 2019–2020 period, coinciding with the general elections, the DMK amassed contributions totaling Rs 45.50 crore, despite being out of power in the state. Major donors included India Cements with Rs 10 crore, Lakshmi Machine Works (LMW) with Rs 1.50 crore, and Mega Infrastructure with Rs 20 crore, among others.
The subsequent financial years witnessed a significant surge in contributions, notably in 2020–2021, where the DMK received Rs 80 crore. Future Gaming and Hotel Services Pvt Ltd (FGH) emerged as a prominent donor, contributing Rs 60 crore, while Mega contributed Rs 20 crore.
However, it was the 2021–2022 financial year that saw a substantial spike, with contributions totaling Rs 302 crore. FGH remained a primary contributor, contributing Rs 249 crore, alongside other entities like Sun TV Network, India Cements, and Triveni.
The local body polls held in February 2022 maintained the momentum, with FGH and other significant donors continuing their support through poll bonds.
FGH’s close association with the DMK, notably through owner Santiago Martin and his son-in-law Aadhav Arjuna, has been a subject of interest. Arjuna, previously involved in DMK’s strategic operations, joined the VCK, a DMK ally, last month after failing to secure a DMK ticket in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Other notable donors include Triveni, engaged in infrastructure projects, and LMW, a Tamil Nadu-based machine tools manufacturer.
In the most recent financial year of 2022–2023, the DMK continued to receive substantial contributions, with FGH contributing Rs 160 crore and Mega adding Rs 25 crore, among others.
These revelations shed light on the significant financial backing received by the DMK, raising questions about the influence of such donations on political dynamics in Tamil Nadu. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.

Acclaimed filmmaker Pa Ranjith, in a strongly worded statement, posed a series of questions to the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government regarding its stance on the murder of BSP Tamil Nadu chief K Armstrong.
The deceased tall Dalit figure was a close friend of Pa Ranjith and had been politically associated with the Ambedkarite movement.
Armstrong, who was a well-known Ambedkarite Buddhist leader, was hacked to death by bike-borne assailants on July 5. The Madras High Court, on July 7, refused the burial of Armstrong within the party office premises in Chennai as it is located in a residential area, and instead directed to conduct the burial on private land in Pothur village in Vilivakkam Panchayat union in Tiruvallur district.
Eight persons have been arrested in the case. While the police claim that Armstrong was killed in retaliation to the murder of gangster Arcot Suresh last year, BSP and Dalit activists contest the claim and are dubbing it as a ‘political murder’.
In the statement issued on Monday, July 8, which has 7 questions, the filmmaker questioned the DMK government about its decision to deny permission to bury the TN BSP president at his residence-cum-office in Perambur.
Pointing out that they performed the last rites of Armstrong without causing any law and order problem following the principles of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Ranjith said that though the DMK government has the power, it had resorted to the court denying permission to bury the body at BSP’s office in Perambur.
“At the end of the nearly two-day drama, we were forced to bury him in Pothur, a suburban village outside Chennai, unwillingly,” he said.
Ranjith alleged that the DMK committed a huge act of deceit by not allowing him to bury his body in Perambur, where he lived.

Modi claims victory in Indian general election, but falling support pushes for coalition
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced his alliance’s victory in the Indian general election, according to AP News.
He claimed a mandate to push his programme, although his party lost ground to a stronger-than-expected opposition. It opposed his controversial economic course and polarising policies.
Today’s victory is the victory of the world’s largest democracy.
Modi told his party’s headquarters on Tuesday that Indian voters had “shown immense faith” in both his party and his National Democratic Alliance (NDA) coalition.
Official results from the Indian Election Commission on Wednesday showed that the NDA won 294 seats. This is more than the 272 seats needed to win a majority, but still far less than expected. For the first time since its Hindu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in 2014, it did not secure a majority on its own. In 2019, it managed to win a record 303 seats.
The Congress Party won 99 seats, improving its result from 52 in the 2019 elections. The Samajwadi Party also secured 37 seats in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, a major disappointment for the BJP. Meanwhile, the All India Trinamool Congress won 29 seats in the state of West Bengal and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam gained 22 seats in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.
The opposition INDIA coalition won a total of 232 seats. Milan Vaishnav, director of the South Asia Programme at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, stated:
At the very least, the result pricks the bubble Prime Minister Modi’s authority. He made this election about himself. Today, he is just another politician, cut to size by the people.

3rd September Sanatana Dharma Day
United States City Louisville Declares 3rd September As Sanatana Dharma Day
The mayor of Louisville, Kentucky, in the United States, has officially designated September 3 Sanatana Dharma Day.
Mayor Craig Greenberg of Louisville, Kentucky, has designated September 3 as Sanatana Dharma Day, highlighting the importance of encouraging peace, tolerance, and understanding among many cultures.
Mayor Craig Greenberg’s Participation in Hindu Temple Re-consecration Ceremony Draws Spiritual Leaders and Dignitaries
On September 3, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg attended a re-consecration ceremony, or 'Mahakumbh Abhishekam', at the Hindu Temple of Kentucky. His deputy, Barbara Sexton Smith, read the official proclamation. Several spiritual leaders and celebrities attended the event, including Chidanand Saraswati, president of the Parmarth Niketan in Rishikesh, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and Bhagawati Saraswati, as well as Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman and Deputy Chief of Staff Keisha Dorsey.
Former Louisville Mayor Greg Fisher declared July 20 as 'Encyclopaedia of Hinduism' Day in Kentucky.
Sanatana Dharma: An Spirituality Legacy
Sanatana Dharma, also known as Hinduism, is among the world's oldest spiritual traditions. It is founded on ancient scriptures and philosophical principles and incorporates a vast range of beliefs, practices, and rites. Sanatana Dharma is a way of life for millions of people worldwide that encourages spiritual growth, compassion, and respect for all living beings.
Tumblr media
Bhagawati Saraswati stressed Hinduism's connection to science and spirituality, demonstrating how the two fields intersect and overlap. Following the remarks, the deputy mayor awarded Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Chidanand Saraswati honorary citizenship in Louisville. In addition to being appointed a Kentucky Colonel, a high state honor, the latter had already acquired the Key to the City of Louisville.
He voiced his worry over the recent controversy surrounding the offensive remarks made by Tamil Nadu Minister and leader of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Udhayanidhi Stalin. ""It is quite unfortunate that certain individuals in India are so hostile towards Sanatan Dharma without appreciating or comprehending its profundity and worth, and yet here in America, in Louisville, Kentucky, we are celebrating the great declaration by the government of a day dedicated to Sanatan Dharma."
Paras Parivaar Charitable Trust’s Contribution for Snanatan Dharam

DMK mouthpiece Murasoli slams Governor RN Ravi for 'saffronising' Thiruvalluvar
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Mouthpiece Murasoli on Monday attacked Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, accusing him of 'saffronising' Thiruvalluvar and said that he insulted the ancient Tamil poet-saint.
Tumblr media
Murasoli claimed that paying respects to a portrait of Thiruvalluvar clad in saffron, Ravi has proved that he didn't read even a single couplet of Thirukkural (a collection of couplets on ethics, political and economic matters, and love written by him).
"Saffron today is the symbol of division. Isn't it an insult to saffronise Thiruvalluvar, who said that all are born equal!", Murasoli claimed in one of the articles.
Murasoli also claimed that the divinity mentioned in Thirukkural is not the divinity used by BJP for 'divide and rule'.
Murasoli went on to say that the tactics of 'embrace and destroy' is being used by Governor Ravi and that a few couplets have been chosen to portray Vedic principles. It further said that such people will never support Sanga Tamil but only Sanghi Tamil.
The ruling DMK, led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, and Governor RN Ravi have come at loggerheads over a host of issues, one of them being the swearing-in of former Minister K Ponmudy's swearing-in as a Cabinet Minister in March.
Ravi had refused to administer the oath of office to Ponmudy, rejecting Chief Minister MK Stalin's request after the Supreme Court stayed Ponmudy's conviction in a disproportionate assets case and suspended three-year jail sentence.

south india lo eesari bjp chala gatti pooti istundi. maa seatla number pakka peragapotundi
In the intricate tapestry of Indian politics, the southern region has often been considered a stronghold for regional parties, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) facing significant hurdles in making substantial inroads. However, recent trends indicate a seismic shift, with the BJP gaining remarkable traction in South India, signaling a political transformation that could reshape the landscape of the region.
Historically, South India has been dominated by parties like the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in Tamil Nadu, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in Telangana, among others. These parties, deeply rooted in the socio-political fabric of their respective states, have often kept national parties at bay.
However, in recent years, the BJP has strategically intensified its efforts to expand its influence beyond its traditional strongholds in northern and western India. This endeavor has borne fruit, evident in the BJP's electoral successes and growing popularity across South India.
One of the key factors driving BJP's ascent in the region is its adept political maneuvering and pragmatic alliances. By forging alliances with regional parties and leveraging local issues, the BJP has been able to establish itself as a credible alternative, appealing to a broader spectrum of voters.
Moreover, the BJP's emphasis on good governance, development agenda, and decisive leadership has resonated with voters disillusioned with the status quo. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's charisma and assertive leadership style have played a pivotal role in bolstering the party's appeal, transcending regional boundaries.
In addition to strategic alliances and effective leadership, the BJP has also adeptly capitalized on socio-cultural dynamics to broaden its support base. Through targeted outreach programs and inclusive policies, the party has endeared itself to diverse communities, transcending linguistic and cultural barriers.
The recent electoral gains made by the BJP in states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana underscore the shifting political dynamics in South India. While regional parties continue to command significant influence, the BJP's ascendance signifies a growing appetite for change and a departure from entrenched political narratives.
However, it's crucial to recognize that the BJP's rise in South India is not devoid of challenges. The party still faces resistance from entrenched regional players and must navigate complex socio-political landscapes delicately. Furthermore, sustaining its momentum and consolidating its gains will require continued engagement, strategic planning, and effective governance.

Navigating the Three-Way Tamil Nadu Election Battle: DMK's Lead, AIADMK's Challenge, and BJP's Ambitions
In the heart of Tamil Nadu's political arena, a high-stakes battle unfolds as the state gears up for the Lok Sabha elections on April 19. With 39 seats up for grabs, the landscape appears poised for another showdown between the major alliances, but this time, with a twist.
Tumblr media
Traditionally, Tamil Nadu's electoral history has witnessed a clear sweep by one of the two major alliances since 2004. However, exceptions like the split verdict of 2009 have added intrigue to the narrative. As the incumbent, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) finds itself in a familiar position of strength, reminiscent of its landslide victory in 2019. Yet, formidable challenges loom large, particularly from its longstanding rival, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in select constituencies.
The DMK's confidence stems from what many deem as Stalin's adept leadership in steering the alliance to success. However, the battleground is far from one-sided, with tough contests anticipated in West Tamil Nadu against the AIADMK and in Theni and Coimbatore against the BJP.
While the AIADMK seeks to fortify its stronghold in Western Tamil Nadu, the BJP eyes significant gains, especially in Theni and Coimbatore. Despite a lackluster performance in 2019, the BJP remains hopeful of enhancing its vote share, drawing inspiration from past electoral dynamics.
In this intricate web of alliances and strategies, the DMK's unity remains a cornerstone of its confidence. Led by Chief Minister M K Stalin, the coalition comprising the Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and the Left Front appears resilient, buoyed by successful accommodations of allies and strategic decisions aimed at alliance cohesion.
Yet, the road ahead is fraught with uncertainties, with close contests anticipated in key constituencies like Tiruppur and Dharmapuri. However, the DMK's unwavering resolve reflects not just a commitment to victory but also a testament to its leader's astute political acumen.
As Tamil Nadu assumes significance on the national stage, with the state poised to influence the Opposition INDIA alliance's fortunes, the electoral landscape brims with anticipation and possibility. For the BJP, the focus lies not only on expanding its footprint but also on increasing its vote share, underscoring the state's pivotal role in shaping the political trajectory.
In this multifaceted electoral saga, as parties vie for supremacy and alliances navigate through the intricacies of Tamil Nadu's political terrain, the stage is set for a riveting contest that promises to redefine the state's political landscape.
