The Ontario NDP are proposing changes that would prohibit government members from accepting gifts that might be seen as a conflict of interest.
The proposed amendments to the Members’ Integrity Act were introduced on Monday, months after it was revealed developers attended a stag and doe party for Premier Doug Ford’s daughter. As it stands now, the Members’ Integrity Act says a member of the Ontario assembly “shall not accept a fee, gift or personal benefit that is connected directly or indirectly with the performance of the member’s duties of office.”
The NDP amendment would change that to include the wording “might reasonably be seen to have been given in connection, directly or indirectly, with the performance of the member’s duties of office.”

The mutual incestuous relationship between corporations, politicians, philanthropy and money printing seems to be a problem. How the fuck could I be wrong. The assholes in the Democratic party grew a fucking spine? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's a hot button issue
PS I watched the presidential debate. Disgrace eh? Is the irony lost on anyone?
It reminds me of the CRAZY, CRAZY wrong white lotus episode when armand gets caught eating ass.
Uninhibited. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
In plain fucking sight. Forward!!!!!

So, SBA, an anti-choice group, has sworn not to endorse any candidate who says abortion should be left to the states -- including Donald Trump.
Such a quandary!
SBA's solution? Don't endorse Trump publicly, but donate $15 million to him privately.
Use this example the next time your preschooler asks what hypocrisy is.

i can’t stop thinking about how people in the global south, whose currencies are valued less than the euro/usd/pound because they too are exploited by the west, are sacrificing large amounts of money and fundraising for palestinians and sudanese, meanwhile americans are coming up with bullshit excuses for why their $20usd (there’s some people who don’t make that kind of money in an entire year!! that’s a thousand six hundred indian rupees!) won’t matter as much as their vote for the genocider’s right hand woman a few months from now.
if you live in the united states, canada, australia, the european union, the uk, or israel or the uae, god forbid,
it is your RESPONSIBILITY to do as much as you can, to donate as much as you can, so that the palestinians you see every day on your feed may have a shot at living again.
it is our countries that continue to finance these genocides and it is for the promise of our comfort that they continue to produce mass death. i don't care how this motivates you. whether you donate out of guilt over our blood soaked currencies, or out of a desire to appear moral, or because something about that individual gfm resonated with soemthing personal to you, or because you've seen people like me and my friends get angry, what matters most is that you are donating. because you are in the best position to donate, therefore it is what you must do.
it should motivate you.
here are four palestinian and two sudanese gofundmes. the sudanese gofundmes are both older and less successful.
donate to Wafaa to help her family escape genocide
donate to Siraj to help him fight to keep his home
donate to Shahed to help her save her little sisters
donate to Ahmed who is almost at his goal
donate to Sajida to help her family get to safety
donate to Hassan to help his friend escape war
(these are all verified fundraisers, they can be found on my blog!)

DMK Receives Major Donations from Future Gaming, Mega Infra, and India Cements in 2021 Poll Year
In a significant revelation, the Election Commission’s latest data highlights the hefty contributions received by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) through poll bonds during the years leading up to 2023. The ruling party in Tamil Nadu disclosed substantial donations amounting to a staggering Rs 656.5 crore from April 19, 2019, to November 14, 2023.
Tumblr media
During the 2019–2020 period, coinciding with the general elections, the DMK amassed contributions totaling Rs 45.50 crore, despite being out of power in the state. Major donors included India Cements with Rs 10 crore, Lakshmi Machine Works (LMW) with Rs 1.50 crore, and Mega Infrastructure with Rs 20 crore, among others.
The subsequent financial years witnessed a significant surge in contributions, notably in 2020–2021, where the DMK received Rs 80 crore. Future Gaming and Hotel Services Pvt Ltd (FGH) emerged as a prominent donor, contributing Rs 60 crore, while Mega contributed Rs 20 crore.
However, it was the 2021–2022 financial year that saw a substantial spike, with contributions totaling Rs 302 crore. FGH remained a primary contributor, contributing Rs 249 crore, alongside other entities like Sun TV Network, India Cements, and Triveni.
The local body polls held in February 2022 maintained the momentum, with FGH and other significant donors continuing their support through poll bonds.
FGH’s close association with the DMK, notably through owner Santiago Martin and his son-in-law Aadhav Arjuna, has been a subject of interest. Arjuna, previously involved in DMK’s strategic operations, joined the VCK, a DMK ally, last month after failing to secure a DMK ticket in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Other notable donors include Triveni, engaged in infrastructure projects, and LMW, a Tamil Nadu-based machine tools manufacturer.
In the most recent financial year of 2022–2023, the DMK continued to receive substantial contributions, with FGH contributing Rs 160 crore and Mega adding Rs 25 crore, among others.
These revelations shed light on the significant financial backing received by the DMK, raising questions about the influence of such donations on political dynamics in Tamil Nadu. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.

Toss The Mellons!
Those who have followed Filosofa’s Word for any length of time know that I am not a fan of great wealth or those who hoard it.  The wealth inequality in the U.S. is beyond ridiculous when we have multi-billionaires sitting fat & happy in their mansions on one end of the spectrum and people living dying in cardboard boxes on the street, begging for enough money to buy a sandwich.  When I read…
