"Oh, Atem." Yugi's eyes glowed a pale green, warring with the bright purple for dominance. His face was neither sweet nor soft as he had known it, but sharp and manipulating. His hand, pressing firmly down on Atem's chest, was making the Pharoah uneasy. To anyone looking on the scene, that hand might have seemed like the forcecful touch of a lover. Atem, however, felt the threatening strength in each point of contact.
"Don't. Don't say my name like that," he ground out.
Yugi just huffed a laugh and shifted so that Atem was almost entirely pinned beneath him. "I'm still Yugi, you know. I haven't changed from who I was. I promise."
"You are not Yugi, so keep his name out of your fucking mouth!" The Pharoah moved to shove the smaller man off of him, but found his arms suddenly held in a firm grip. "Let go of me!" He snarled.
"You act so cold to me, partner. I wonder why? And yet...it's all just a front, isn't it? You're always putting up a front around me." His words were painfully teasing, ripping Atem's only defenses to shreds as he continued. "It's ok. You don't need to now. I accept all of your feelings, all of the things you've always wanted from me." Yugi chuckled again, then removed one of his hands to caress Atem's cheek gently.
"S-stop...you're not..." But his defenses were gone. There were tears in his eyes, and he'd missed Yugi so much, and he was leaning into that comforting touch. And all of those feelings...he knew Yugi had to be in there somwhere, influencing this Orichalchos-infested version of himself. Right? So...what he said had to be true...
"That's it," Yugi cooed. "Give in. Such a good boy, aren't you?" His hand slipped down the Pharoah's cheek and to his lips, teacing their curves. "You want me so bad...you might as well have me, hm?"
Atem whined, trying to resist, but couldn't as Yugi lifted his chin with a finger and brought their lips together. He tasted like everything Atem had expected: sweet. Kind. Soft. No specific flavor, just...emotions. He moaned into the kiss, letting Yugi's tongue into his mouth, letting him explore. He allowed Yugi to nip his lower lip and chin and neck all the way down to his collarbone. He didn't resist when the smaller slowly and neatly removed his clothes.
"You're so obedient~"
...
Atem had never regretted something more. He'd turned away for a second only to turn back and find himself eye to eye with his Yugi. His perfect Yugi, eyes tearing up and fists clenched in anger. His perfect Yugi, refusing to talk to him before the Orichalchos possessed him again.
Never again would Yugi see him as anything more than a parasite in his body.

i love ghosts i love crime (stories), telll us more! :D
Well, lucky for you, this wip actually contains two separate crime stories! And just in time for Halloween too! XD
Sometimes, when I'm writing random scene ideas, I get a sudden idea surge for a completely separate fic, so I quickly jot those down in the same document before I could forget them. Not the most ideal organising, but it sort of works 🙃
So! Story number 1:
tw: death, cause y'know. ghosts.
Here For The Boos
This one is more ghost than crime, but the other part of this wip is more crime than ghosts. This fic is primarily puzzleshipping (that's a first for me lol) and there's also some tendershipping and eclipse on the side.
Yugi inherits an old rural house in Kyoto from his grandfather after he tragically passed away inside it. Due to having some financial difficulties and running out of options, he has to move into the house, leaving his old life behind. It doesn't take him long to realise that there is something wrong with the house; the light bulbs keep flickering no matter how many times he changes them, doors slide open by themselves, the house always smells like it's burning, he can always see something lingering behind him just out of the corner of his eye, but disappearing as soon as he turns around to get a better look. And there's also banging and screaming coming out of the basement at night, which probably should have been a dead giveaway.
Not having the option of moving out, Yugi decides to investigate. He sets up cameras, capturing a few odd things, scatters around a few religious symbols, discovering that they all rust away or get destroyed under a single night and he also locates a mysterious black spot behind a closet where the smell of smoke is the strongest.
Leaving the basement for last, Yugi ventures in at night when he knows the noises would be loudest. After waiting in silence for awhile he gets jumped by a black shadow which seems really keen on clawing him to bits, but just before Yugi's arms would give out he gets pulled out from under the shadow and of the basement by a mysterious force.
After this experience, Yugi does some research about the house and comes across Mura (Yami Malik), a self-proclaimed medium, by chance who offers to help Yugi hold a séance. Yugi invites two of the friends he's made in Kyoto, Malik and Ryou, and the four of them hold a seance in the room with the burn mark.
Throughout the event they discover that the house is inhabited by two spirits, an investigator and a thief. Due to some strange interference in the house Mura can't invite either of the spirits to possess him, but they do manage to communicate with the investigator through knocks. They manage to find out that it was the investigator that saved Yugi from the basement and that both him and the thief died in the house fire that was started by the thief as far as he knows, but he doesn’t remember his death very clearly.
Yugi does more historical research and he finds two names that seem to have stopped making appearances in records at the same time. Rurikawa Yami the son of the local lord who was a high ranking officer and a local bandit that went by the name of Touzokou. Yugi takes the risk and tries to contact Yami by himself with more information about his past in hopes of figuring out what truly happened in the house all those decades ago.
This is where the story is now (albeit in bits and missing chapters).
Onto story number 2:
Cat And Mouse
tw again: murder, death
So this one is a messed up little clashshipping crime au fic where the killer and the detective are both equally aware of who the other is and they meet up and stuff, they just don't say that they know what the others intentions are.
Malak Ishtar (Yami Malik) is a morally dubious homicide detective who works in Domino, but it's been awhile since he's taken an interest in a case. That was until a serial killer made his entrance into the crime scene. One so brutal and sadistic that it immediately made Malak want to catch them himself. The press dubbed them the Puzzle Killer, after the puzzling states his crime scenes has been discovered, almost appearing like the aftermath of a twisted game session.
While tailing one of the suspects, Malak bumps into an intriguing man who surprisingly holds many of the same ideologies as he does. After introducing themselves Malak finds out that the stranger is Dr Yami Muto, a rather esteemed psychiatrist in the business. They have a long chat, but after they part ways so Malak can keep following his mark, he finds the suspect brutally slain in a public bathroom. More puzzled than ever, Malak starts to put together all the odd things Yami said and grows suspicious of him.
Without any proof, he decides to pursue Yami as a suspect in his own time under the guise of friendly get-togethers, which slowly evolve into something more.
And this one, I actually have a quick excerpt for:
He looks back at Yami only briefly, noticing the strikingly calm demeanour that was radiating of him. "What's your doctor profession? Surgery? Pediatrics?", inquiries continued on for the other, deciding to take a seat on the subway seat. "You either must have a lot of patience or you must be enjoying yourself."
It's a half witted joke on Malak's part, something to ease the conversation rather than the intensifying atmisohere.
"Psychiatry, actually. But I can't say you're wrong about the last part." He smiles back at Malak, laughing a little, never actually clarifying which statement the other man was right about.
"If you think about it, this is a bit like an impromptu social experiment." The doctor explains, motioning around the wagon with an open hand with a certain eagerness in his movements. "All these people from different demographics trapped in a small enclosed space for an undetermined amount of time with possibly limited resources isn't something you'd get to observe every day."

Dragon’s Kiss by Jupiter 13
To the Fic!
Fandom: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Ships (If applicable): Puppyshipping primarily, with a mix of Tendershipping, Puzzleshipping, Bronzeshipping, and Chaseshipping. Other, much more minor ships. are also sprinkled throughout.
Warnings: kidnapping and hostage situations as well as a few sex scenes, some of which border on dubious or a lack of consent.
There are, on occasion, times when I want a very good, heavy story. An epic tale that brings me into another world all its own.
You figure that would be just fan fiction in a nutshell but really I’m talking about fantasy worlds. I absolutely love fantasy, especially when a dragon is somehow involved. It’s a not-so-secret weakness of mine. I admire just about any story with the ability to transport me into another world and give me an epic tale from that world.
And this is where Dragon’s Kiss comes in.
This is a pretty old story by fan fiction standards. It’s also one of the longer, more intimidating reads; it sits as a whopping 260K words. But it’s really good at pulling you in.
This story is an AU High Fantasy type that repurposes all the characters in a way that makes (most of them) feel in character. More on the parentheses later.
The story follows Joey, the prince of Domino who has a deep interest in dragons. On his eighteenth birthday, he is gifted a small black dragon and, from there, it summons a very large, very pissed white dragon. He is then taken by the two where he learns more about them. He learns the younger one’s name is Mokuba and the large one is Seto. The two are brothers and the last of their kind.
Yes, Seto and Mokuba are motherfuckin’ dragons in this story!
He also gets to meet Yugi and Ryou from a small village at the base of the dragons’ mountain hideout (two kids born as mages after centuries of extinction) their animal mentors Yami (a hawk who can grow in size) and Bakura (a wolf who can become kind of anthropomorphic ), and Mai (A witch. Exactly what it says on the tin.) Not to mention Ishizu, a healer/helper for Seto and Mokuba who has the power to grant only one, very specific wish. And, later, there's the introduction of Malik, also a helper who’s hellbent on finding other dragons as his mission, and Marik, a werewolf.
Phew, that’s a lot to unpack… As I said, this story’s pretty much an epic.
The story becomes a Beauty and the Beast kind of deal if Belle was well… Joey… and if Beast was… well, Kaiba. But the relationship evolves over time and has a beautiful way of showing how the threats become teasing become flirting become. You know, typical puppyshipping stuff.
But, what would be a good story without a good conflict to match it?
You see, there’s a reason Seto and Mokuba are the last of their kind. And it has a lot to do with a group of witches seeking out and killing both the dragons and the mages. So, when one of the witches who was set on their destruction gets wind of their existence, she teams up with two people looking to take over Joey’s kingdom.
Now, I really did enjoy this story. I read the entire thing in a matter of days which, for its size and my reading speed, is pretty quick. A lot happens in the story and, while it did have moments that seemed unnecessary, it was always interesting.
I do have one minor problem with it and its something I find often with the older fan works. There’s a bit of Tea bashing in this tale. I mean I’ve seen it done a lot worse than this, don’t get me wrong. In fact, it could be explained away as the writer needing a proper bad guy. But, it did get into the idea that this kind of treatment to her character is normal which, at the time, it was. It’s a trope that did not age well and for good reason.
All in all, there are very few complaints from me. I’ve taken the time to enjoy this story a few times. All the main relationships feel real and believable and there were a few times when I felt actually sad for the characters.
Did I cry? ....Maybe.
Where did I cry? Read the story and figure it out!
Ratings:
Boring Grammar Stuff: 9/10 (just a few minor things I noticed that took me from the story. Not much.)
Enjoyment: 10/10
Relation to the Source: N/A
Overall: 19/20 (I still go back to this story for the sake of nostalgia and to read some of my favorite parts. But this epic tale isn’t without its issues. Still, I enjoy this read and I’m pretty sure I’d be far from the only one.)

“puzzleshipping kiss me” AMV Critique
youtube
As art is produced, experimented with, and innovated, new forms begin to arise; abstract art bears expressionism, classical art bears romantic art, R&B bears hip-hop, and anime music video bears the shipping AMV. Shipping AMV’s, unlike their traditional counterparts, celebrate a relationship in fiction or the hypothetical fictional relationship that could potentially occur between two  fictional characters. As shipping AMV’s share a somewhat different set of elements, will be judging theif king bakura’s “puzzleshipping kiss me,” and other shipping AMV’s by a separate set of standards from ordinary anime music videos, (as shipping videos often feature a long series of images with minimal transitions rather than clips) focusing on the believability and objective quality of the “ship” as well as the suitability of the song chosen, rather than critiquing the emotional narrative core to the AMV genre.
The ship (or fictional relationship; derived from the act of forcing two characters against each other with the same delicacy and subtlety of two cruiseliners colliding) is of Yugi Motou, a 16 year-old boy and universal card tournament champion and Pharaoh Atem, (or “Yami-Yugi) his alter ego, the amnesiac thousand year-old ghost of an Egyptian king who lives in an ancient puzzle box that Yugi wears around his neck. Though some disapprove of the ship as the two are able to interact, are hundreds of years apart in age, and share a singular body, this dubious and otherworldy nature of their bond is what many people are attracted by, similar to the romanticization of vampires, (though fans of this ship are notably more realistic as they instead romanticize mummies, who are more likely to perform romantic activities such as walking on the beach without dying and accepting obscure kinks).
Tumblr media
While Yugi and Atem are often difficult to distinguish between each other, (their only visual distinction in most depictions being a change in height or expression) their similarity in appearance may actually bring the ship some real-world credibility. In a social experiment analyzing attraction, philosopher and neuroscientist Dr. Berit Brogaard observes that, “When subjects were asked to rate the portrayed people for attractiveness, they usually picked the people who were an amalgamation of a stranger and themselves,” meaning that though the two are completely identical, this may be a factor that would enhance their relationship if it were to exist. The two as well share an interest in card games as the pharaohs of ancient Egypt often played the same exact game Yugi does in the present day, (though these were done through gargantuan stone tablets rather than holographic paper) this connection further deepening their relationship.
The thief king chose Sixpence None the Richer’s “Kiss Me” as the song to accompany the images, a perfect choice in both tone and purpose for the ship. In addition to the traditionally romantic imagery of the song (dancing, kissing, walking under the stars) the origins of the song can be traced to the 90’s show “Dawson’s Creek,” which the song was created for. “Dawson’s Creek,” though a moving and nostalgic show to many is criticized for its use of adult actors to portray teenagers in romantic relationships. As the ship is between a child and an Egyptian king of dubious age, those who oppose the ship echo the same concerns many had with the show. Therefore the song choice is most likely a self-aware move on the part of the thief king bakura, not only acknowledging the problems many have with the ship but also embracing it, taking the pharaohphilia gladly into their open arms. In this way the song not only accentuates the ship but captures perfectly their feelings on the ship.
While many may dismiss the ship of Yugi and Atem as unrealistic, physically impossible, or a bizarre form of ghost pedophilia, theif king bakura’s “puzzleshipping kiss me” will hopefully come to silence these claims. This shipping AMV, though almost insultingly uncomplicated in presentation, sets out to honor the nonexistent fictional relationship of two characters in a card game anime, a grand and noble effort whose fruit we shall not ignore. We implore all of our viewers to watch this video and others by thief king bakura, whose expert use of anime imagery and musical theming are more than you can shake a deck at.
