Review: “My Investing Journey and Learning” by Carmen Mundt
Qualifications: I’m a journalist reporting on business, economics, and defense who’s been in the industry for 7 years — the last 3 have been at, debatably, the #1 business publication in the world.
Rating: 2/5 stars
Thoughts: I cannot believe I spent 39 euros on this.
This 39 page ebook provides incredibly basic information that can all be found in this article.
First: while the ebook is about 40 pages, it probably has about 10 pages of actual information in it, interspersed with inspirational quotes from Sheryl Sandberg and Warren Buffet, with some pictures of Carmen in Monaco.
There’s about 1 page of “introduction” from Carmen that talks about her upbringing and journey to university in London. I won’t comment too much on her personal story, but an important thing to note is that she says she came from a “traditional Spanish household” where her father was the breadwinner and her mother had no access to family finances. After the 2008 crash, her family couldn’t afford to send her to college. She moved to London, applied for a student loan, and began studying finance at a university while working part time.
Carmen very, very briefly mentioned her regrets as to her mother’s inability to access higher education, work, and family financial planning; she says she’d never want to be in that position. While literally only one sentence, I think it makes it clear who the audience for this ebook is: someone who has absolutely, positively, no idea about money.
(She also very, very briefly mentions “big changes in her personal life” that made a full-time job in finance “not sustainable,” leading to her move to Monaco. This is her only reference to George.)
The rest of the book very simply explains how to make a budget, set financial goals, invest in the stock market, and mitigate risk. The information was kinda factually correct, and was written in a coherent manner. I think that’s the highest praise I can give it.
Here’s the thing: like other reviewers have called out, I am pretty certain that Carmen didn’t write anything besides the introduction. Whole sections (and indeed the entire format of the ebook) were clearly ripped from the Female Invest introductory courses. (I spent 3 hours clicking through each course so I could find direct wording comparisons to make this claim. I really wouldn’t recommend it.) I do think she edited these sections, and she interjected a few personal sentences; but I believe that’s where her involvement ended.
From an expert perspective, a lot of the information is so simplistic as to be almost incorrect. This isn’t a “first day of Econ 101” ebook — this is a “freshman year of high school home ec class” ebook. (Did anyone else’s home ec classes teach budgeting, or just me?)
Here’s an example. In a section on stocks, Carmen/Female Invest writes: “Investing in stocks allows you to support companies and causes you care about while still making a profit.”
On a basic level, this is correct. Purchasing a stock technically means you’re buying a little bit of a company, and I guess therefore supporting it. But unless a company is IPOing, you’re buying those stocks from another investor — which means your purchase has no effect on the company. So it’s a little disingenuous to claim you’re somehow helping the company. The ebook is rife with this kind of thing.
Carmen pushed in her advertising posts that the Female Invest courses were a key supplement to her book. So obviously, I had to do those too. And holy shit, they were so much worse than the ebook. Some parts were blatantly incorrect on basic information (they claim markets are open 24/7, when most are only open 9am-4:30pm on weekdays) and have some of the most patronizing metaphors I have ever read. (One of the most egregious was comparing your investment portfolio to a pizza because “stocks, bonds, and ETFs” make up different “sizes of slices to make a whole pie”. This isn’t even an accurate equivalent — maybe a calzone, pasta, and pizza make up a whole meal? I don’t even know.)
I would not recommend buying this ebook unless you, too, were barred from even thinking about a stock by your traditional father. Even then, consider free sources.
A Disclaimer on disclosures: So, after @ohblimeygeorge sent me a reddit post also reviewing Carmen’s book that mentioned ad disclosures, I decided to dive into the regulations. In the U.S., influential advertising is regulated by the FTC — in the EU, it’s regulated by the EU Commission, which I believe Carmen would qualify under since she is a Spanish citizen who lives in Monaco. First, I looked at this legal brief on content monetization business models, and concluded that that the ebook likely falls under “affiliate marketing” as Carmen likely receives a percentage of each ebook sold through her link.
(An additional disclaimer: obviously, I don’t know the details of the deal Carmen has with Female Invest, but I’d think it unlikely that she isn’t getting paid for their collaboration. She mentioned in an Instagram story under her Female Invest highlight that she “tried purchasing equity but they were already too big for what I could afford” but “did buy a bit of their crowdfunding.” Since she doesn’t have equity, i.e. doesn’t own a piece of the company, it’d be weird if she was doing this for free.)
Back on topic. I next looked at this legal brief on advertising disclosures. It states that affiliate marketing must be disclosed: “you need to make sure your audiences understand that it’s advertising.” Disclosures can include hashtags and “mentioning” advertising in the caption. Carmen has not disclosed advertising in any of her Female Invest posts, and appears to be violating this regulation. (Interestingly, her only posts that follow disclosure requirements are her Tommy posts.)
It’s apparently not uncommon. An EU Commission study showed 80% of influencers in the EU do not properly disclose ads.
So, there’s that too.

hi! i really want to get better with my finances next year but.... i have NO idea where to start. i'm a writer and english major, maths is my enemy and i'm so bad with numbers. but i'm 21, i'm getting older and graduating my masters next year and it's time to get started with my career as i won't be living off of this student loan anymore AND will have to eventually pay it back 😭
i wanted to know if you have any tips about finances, saving ... what i should even do, how i begin? any resources or beginner books to get me started on knowing anything money wise? i'm literally a 2 year old when it comes to this topic i'm quite clueless but i want it to change, so literally any basic advice would help me so much right now. by the time 2025 ends i want to be really good with money and finance knowledge!
First of all it’s amazing that you’re 21 & already graduating with your masters!!!
Let’s start with some simple tips:
For one month, write down every dollar you spend. This will show you where your money goes and where you can cut back.
Use the 50/30/20 rule: 50% of your income for needs, 30% for wants & 20% for savings or debt.
Even if it’s small, open a high yield savings account and set up automatic transfers. Saving a little every month adds up fast!
You can start learning about investing. These are beginner friendly ideas to help you grow your money:
1. Index Funds and ETFs: These are great for beginners because they’re low cost & diversified. Popular ones include the S&P 500 index funds (like VOO or SPY). You don’t have to pick individual stocks, you’re investing in a basket of companies.
2. Retirement Accounts: Roth IRA or 401(k) (if offered by your job). Contributions grow tax free in a Roth IRA, which is great for long term wealth.
3. Dividend Stocks: Some companies like Coca Cola or Johnson & Johnson play dividends. This gives you regular income while your investment grows.
4. Fractional Shares: Apps like Robinhood, Fidelity, or M1 Finance let you buy small portions of expensive stocks like Amazon or Tesla so you can start with as little as $5.
5. Real Estate Investing: If buying property isn’t an option yet, try REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts), which let you invest in real estate without owning property.
6. Life Insurance: You can use life insurance to build wealth. With whole or universal life insurance, you can borrow against the policy’s cash value to invest or cover major expenses. Payouts are generally tax-free, and the cash value grows tax deferred.

One thing that kinda bugs me about Dib character analysis discourse is that people tend to talk in black and white terms about Dib's motives when it's very clearly shown that he both wants recognition AND genuinely cares about other people. Like, yeah he was bitter in A Room With a Moose after he just got bullied, but he clearly cared about his classmates in Dark Harvest. He called the FBI to try to save Nick in Zim Eats Waffles when the Swollen Eyeballs wouldn't help, set aside his grudge against Zim for the sake of earth in episodes like Hamstergeddon and Tak, and willingly sacrificed himself to the Shadowhog for Gaz. He fucked up big time in ETF by trying to get recognition instead of taking the easy W, but he clearly knows he fucked up and wouldn't make that mistake again. Like, they didn't have Gaz call him out on being the reason their dad was in space jail for no reason.
With Zib I don't think we can take for granted that he went crazy just because he didn't get the recognition he wanted. I really think it had more to do with him being extremely co-dependant on Zim and not being able to cope with the loss. The lack of recognition just rubbed salt in the wound because it meant he killed the only person who made him feel like he mattered for nothing. The Zimvoid is basically just Dib's version of WandaVision/Multiverse of Madness.

You know all the drama that happened between her max matt good and Ronnie radke there in 2010-2011 I think I never understood it right and then there are photos of her with max in 2015
Let’s do a detailed recap of the drama between Max Green, Matt Good, and Ronnie Radke. This is going to be long so I apologize in advance.
From what I can recall Matt and Ronnie didn’t have any drama but if I’m wrong someone can correct me and I will edit. Thank you.
So Ronnie got arrested and was kicked out of his band Escape the Fate, which caused beef between Max and the other band members since they replaced him with Craig Mabbit. Also, ETF was created by Ronnie and Max which I do believe played a huge part of their beef.
A lot of fans of ETF knew that Max was a drug addict and that caused problems when ETF was touring/playing shows, where Max even got sick on stage at one show due to the drugs; the band was getting fed up with it and wanted Max to get help so he went to rehab.
At this time Matt Good was in the band D.R.U.G.S (Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows) and he was dating Ivy Levan and she’s friends with Max.
A lot of fans of Max and Lexus Amanda knew that they had an on/off relationship and that it was toxic; when Max went to rehab Lexus cheated on him with Matt Good, who cheated on Ivy with Lexus. Matt and Ivy broke up and Max broke up with Lexus, which she started to date Matt.
For the record, Max and Ivy have both said they never hooked up/dated, they were just friends and were there in support for one another when they both got cheated on. I wanted to share this because people at the time assumed that they were hooking up/dating which they never did. Max also confirmed this when he got asked on formspring about Lexus cheating on him and I believe either in the same question or a separate one that he also said that he got back at Matt by hooking up with Lexus while she was dating Matt. Basically, Max confirmed that Lexus is a cheater.
While Ronnie was in jail he was forming a new band, they were originally names Behing These Walls (there are some demos of songs on YouTube under this name) later when he got out changed the name to Falling In Reverse and Lexus was reaching out to a band member, Nason where they would video chat on stickam at times and Nason was giving updates about the band and Ronnie. Once Ronnie got out of jail and went on live on Stickam, he saw Lexus and thought ‘she’s got’ and allowed her to be on the camera while live. They were talking and openly flirting with one another; I do believe that Ronnie knew who Lexus was, his best friend’s ex-girlfriend and what she’s all about band slut/whore, which is why he most likely hooked up with her because he wanted to get back at Max at that time. Lexus also wanted to get back at Max and what better way than dating his best friend; do we see where I’m going with this? Ronnie most likely told Lexus whatever she wanted to hear to make it seem like they would date, he hooked up and used her then dipped. If you have ever listened to FIR song Caught like a Fly, it’s a diss track to Max because there’s a line “I will have slept with the girl that you loved most” at the time Max was still in love with Lexus.
Before we get into the pictures of them together, Lexus did hook up with Twiggy and did some things (we don’t know the details) however, Max did get asked on formspring if he would ever get back with Lexus Amanda and he said “No” where he talked about her hooking up with Twiggy and doing some things which made him fall out of love with her, hence he’s moving on with his life at that point. In 2015, the pictures of them together is when Max was trying to be friends with her and nothing more, but his fans freaked out about it which he reassured them that he wasn’t getting back with her and kept true to that. He mainly went to her to get his haircut because she went back to beauty school but before that she had unhinged behavior going on where she would repost/re-upload old pictures of her with Ronnie, Nick, any famous person she dated or was friends with because she was losing relevance at this time.

ETF is very different from the series but i kinda enjoy it?
Like, the atmosphere of the setting is way less grim and macabre, and we even had some very aww emotional moments (because it's a film and films have a different episode structure). And well, i'm a sucker for happy endings, so it was nice to see Professor Membrane and Gaz have some touching moments with Dib. (i just wanna them to heal ok) (it's a start at least)
Basically i like to see the differences between the series and ETF as if they were the consequences of the timeskip.
Gaz very explicitly worrying about her brother's well being + Dib imposing himself on his father because both of them (Gaz and Dib) are more mature, the sky is more beautiful because idk maybe it's some invention the Professor made to help the Earth??
ETF gives me a hopeful, somehow healing and comforting atmosphere, and it feels nice
But then again, i'm a sucker for happy endings and healing
Now about the designs, i liked the colors in general, but it's my most vibrant and "happy" color style.
I really liked Dib's ghost shirt, since i study character design a lot, this says a lot about him. I just didn't like the red sneakers so in my re-imagined version i draw him with a black all star (i like to leave the goth boots for when he's older). And now he has more hair lol (i like to leave the undercut for when he's older too)
Gaz was the one with the biggest redesign, and just like Dib i liked her new shirt. But in my re-imagined version i mix her design from the series with ETF, i like to imagine her with a long-sleeved striped shirt underneath.
I don't have much to say about Professor Membrane's redesign, but i liked the small changes, he's not so skinny anymore and has more hair too
Also ETF gave me things i always wanted to happen:
- Alternative realities
- Professor Membrane being a good present father
- Touching moments between the Membrane family
- Zim discovering the mission was a lie
- Zim (almost) winning for real
- ANIME IZ!! (my 13-year-old self can rest in peace)
- The trial scenario
So yeah, i really like the movie, i had a lot of fun.
It's a great film to end the IZ franchise to me.

Institutional Bitcoin Demand
Tumblr media
It’s easy to get caught in the waves of emotion that come with this space. One day it’s euphoria, the next it’s despair. But when you learn to stop watching the surface and start paying attention to the undercurrent — you’ll see something that never stopped flowing:
Institutional demand for Bitcoin is not only alive — it’s accelerating.
🏦 BlackRock Goes Global with Bitcoin
Let’s start with BlackRock — the $10 trillion behemoth. They already shook the financial world with their U.S. Bitcoin ETF, and now? They’ve launched their first European Bitcoin trust: the iShares Bitcoin ETP. Trading across Xetra, Euronext Paris, and Amsterdam, this ETP is designed to give institutional investors exposure to Bitcoin without needing to touch it.
And they’re not just dipping their toes in. They’re waiving fees (just 0.15% through 2025) and securing custody through Coinbase, signaling to every money manager in Europe: it’s safe to come in now.
This is a clear expansion strategy, not a test. BlackRock is laying Bitcoin rails across continents. It’s no longer “if” — it’s “where next?”
🧠 Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) Has Entered Beast Mode
Michael Saylor isn’t backing down. In fact, he just shifted into a higher gear. Now operating under the rebranded name “Strategy,” the company has purchased another 6,911 BTC for $584 million — and that’s on top of the 500,000+ BTC already in their cold storage war chest.
How did they do it? By raising funds through convertible notes and preferred stock. That’s right — they issued debt to buy more Bitcoin. Call it crazy, or call it conviction. Either way, they’ve gone full “Bitcoin standard,” and at this point, they’re basically a leveraged orange coin ETF.
While everyone else debates if the price will hit $58k or pull back to $47k, Saylor’s strategy remains unchanged: stack until your balance sheet becomes the new Federal Reserve.
🎮 GameStop Joins the Fray (No, Seriously)
And now the wild card: GameStop.
You remember the retail frenzy of 2021 — WallStreetBets, meme stock madness, diamond hands. But now, GameStop is making a completely different kind of bet. They’re raising $1.3 billion via a convertible bond offering — and part of that cash? It’s going to Bitcoin.
This isn’t just a pivot. It’s a resurrection attempt. A reinvention. GameStop knows its legacy model is outdated, and like any company with survival instincts, it’s chasing where the real innovation is — decentralized, digital value. If MicroStrategy was the first domino, GameStop might be the first meme stock to go full Satoshi.
🗺️ What Does This All Mean?
It means the narrative is no longer theoretical.
The floodgates didn’t just crack open — the institutions kicked them down. They’re no longer just researching Bitcoin. They’re allocating, integrating, and in some cases, restructuring their entire strategy around it.
And yet... retail still hesitates. People still ask, “Is it too late?”
Let me say this clearly: it’s only too late if you don’t act.
You don’t need to raise a billion dollars. You don’t need to be on Wall Street. You just need to understand what’s happening before the masses do — and front-run their future.
🔎 The Signal in the Noise
When the noise gets loud, remember this:
While your coworker is mocking crypto at the water cooler, BlackRock is onboarding Europe.
While the media tries to spook you with volatility, MicroStrategy is issuing bonds to buy more.
While Twitter fights over ETF inflows, GameStop is quietly shifting to Bitcoin exposure.
This is a monetary revolution unfolding in real time.
So do what the institutions can’t do with speed: Stack. Stay humble. Educate yourself. Spread the signal.
And when the next wave comes, you won’t be washed out. You’ll be riding it.
