I (finally) got myself to scan some drawings I did in the past few months! I'm still very much into the gay pirate show 🏴☠️

sad stizzy flavour where Ed wants to keep Izzy in his front yard like a dead pet dog - but after the crew has gone and it's just the three of them left on their little island, Stede quietly asks what IZZY would want.
When Ed remains insistent (not because he's a bad guy! Dude's just grieving!) Stede sneaks out in the middle of the night to dig Izzy up and lay him to rest at sea.
Only obviously, Izzy has a Mermaid Moment and comes to life in Stede's arms.

One thing I have noticed about people who don't like Izzy, is that they clearly know that one of the main points of the show is that people can change, and that fucking up doesn't mean you're inherently bad.
But that doesn't seem to apply to Izzy.
Like, yeah. He did a lot of fucked up things. He forced Ed into a lot of things that were clearly hurting him, didn't respect his agency to choose for himself, and was openly homophobic towards the crew.
And Ed tortured his crew, shot Izzy's leg off for talking, pushed Lucius off the ship with the intent to kill him, and almost kills everyone. And the crew ended up actually fucking traumatized because of all of it.
Now, am I saying Ed is a bad person? No. But what he did was messed up and traumatizing and everyone was hurt. Yet he apologized. And actively tried to change.
And Izzy did too, in a way. He was in the middle of an arc in which he could finally start accepting himself and the crew enough to change.
I think it's a bit weird when people try to twist Izzy talking to Stede after the break up into him somehow trying to manipulate Stede or "groom him into being a new Blackbeard" because. Izzy was just trying to show support. Same with the walking in on Stede and Ed the morning after they have sex. He's trying to change, the same way Ed did.
Also I hate this narrative that Ed is somehow justified for everything he did because he was suicidal. I dunno, it rubs me the wrong way, but that may just be me.

I need someone to please be excited with me about these. They aren’t perfect or complete but I finally got to inlay the shells today and I’m proud of myself for trying to learn some new skills.
