Welp, something happened the other day. A friend started messaging me that they were at a relative's echo appointment and proceeded to send me videos of the screen and descriptions of what was going on. They surprised me by talking poetically about the motion of heart valves. My brain partially melted at this. I got all caught up in the conversation and before I knew it...I'd gone online and ordered an Eko Core 500. Was that kind of stupid, considering the cost? I mean, yeah. But...will it be worth it in the end? I suspect as much. It came in yesterday!

I really love green. I wish the whole damn thing was green, but we can't have it all. I had a chance to use it last night and the EKG (not gonna pretend I can actually interpret one) worked well against bare skin and the heart rate monitor was fun to watch. I have a feeling those things will just be a novelty to me and not something I'll want every time I use a scope, but that's just me. It's more about the sound, the feeling of the stethoscope, and the closeness of it all for me. But those features are nifty for sure. The sound is comparable to my Thinklabs One. Also, I tried plugging in the headphones I use for my Thinklabs One to this chest piece and that works beautifully. Over the ear headphones are more comfortable than wearing binaurals, though these are fairly comfortable anyway, as binaurals go.

Cons: You have to run the Eko app to use this thing. Unnecessarily lame and proprietary, IMO. It's a free app that I went ahead and downloaded but I'm holding a bit of a grudge. You should be able to use a stethoscope, even get heart rate stats and all that, without having to run an app. Standard access to the app features was included with purchase, and I had zero interest in buying a premium subscription, but just FYI, that's how you get access to the AI features like afib detection. Another thing--it's a bit too easy to press the buttons while you're trying to use it. I accidentally turned the volume all the way down while listening, for example. Took me a second to figure out what in the world had happened.

Update: Ok, you can use it without the app. At least you can listen, get BPM, and EKG. I'm not sure about other features that are premium. But I have to amend what I said here.

Why should you sign this?

This is happening in Spain, as these farm hurt these intelligent animals. Because octopuses are emotionally aware and are able of social interactions. But these farms are taking these sentient creatures captive and it is well known that octupuses suffer greatly in captivity - which causes extreme boredom, stress, diseases and depression. They are also a major part of marine ecosystems, and taking them from their home is straight up ruining the bio-life under the water.

These farms in Spain raise about a million octopuses annually for food. Octupuses are solitary animals (unless mating) that live in deep sea waters that has little light. In captivity, octopuses are tightly packed in together and are shunned with light.

Farms in Spain use a method called the 'ice slurry' - "Ice slurry killing is a method of euthanizing fish or octopuses by lowering their body temperature to cause anesthesia and death" says humane slaughter association

In other words, they give these animals less and less oxygen and either warm up the temperature and or lower the temperature (depends on the species) until they die. So a slow and painful death to these well aware animals.

"Large numbers of octopuses should never be kept together in close proximity. Doing this leads to stress, conflict and high mortality …"

Around 350,000 tons of octopus are caught every year. With only 500,000 tons are in the wild. So basically even though the population is growing in the wild in enormous rates, these farms will just take almost half of the population that's growing and slaughter these classified sentient mollusk*. Octupuses are caught 10 times more since the year 1950 that's been recorded.

What can I do to help?

Well of course sign the petition! So far they have 580,304 signatures but they need to get to until 750K signatures!! You can also donate if you can, the donations are from 5$ up to whatever you have! This will help ban these farms and save these animals. Reposting also helps a lot! It takes one click to help the marine biolife and inhumane Slaughter toward these beautiful octupuses

Apparently it's the firt multi-effect ever. It has Wah (called Strepitoso in italian), Treble/Bass Booster, Distortion and Repeat (percussion tremolo). So I traced the 4 different circuits, you can find attached the schematics and some pics. FS33805 are npn BJT with 1:C 2:B 3:E pinout. I tested one and hfe was 216. BC208 is apparently an equivalent and if i'm not mistaken 2n3904 could do the job. 4JD5E44 is a UJT (maybe equivalent to 2n2646 ?)"
