4J Teases First Elements Engine Game: REFORJ

4J Studios has released the first information for it's new, original game REFORJ, the first title to use the company's 'Elements' engine.

So because of the length of the new DW seasons, Ncuti has been doctor for I believe only 5 more episodes than Christopher Eccleston. Now I love 9 he is one of my favourite Doctors I think it’s an absolute crime he didn’t get more time and the situation around that is criminal too, but I’m gonna put that aside for a second.

A Doctor who has had 2 companions, the return of multiple major Classic Who characters, references to the MASSIVE lore changes during the previous era, as well as involvement in currently two specials has FIVE more episodes than one of the shortest incarnations of the Doctor.

Now I can’t find anything concrete that Ncuti’s run is ending after this season, only comments that he hasn’t been ‘axed’ but no dispelling of the rumours of regeneration (or show cancellation lets be real), but if he is leaving??? That feels so wrong.

The length of these seasons is appalling we don’t get enough time to develop ANYONE properly, almost every episode seems to be out competing the others, and the huge classic Who things the entire fandom is talking about have taken place over what is to be THREE episodes. Obviously they’ll likely continue into possibly further seasons but now? With Ncuti? With Varada? It’s three episodes.

Eight episodes will NEVER be enough to tell stories like these. Longer seasons allow for an episode or two that feel a little out of character because we have enough to come back around with whereas eight episodes doesn’t do that - Belinda’s immediate forgiveness and affection after seeing the Doctor torture someone is the best example so far, she literally Would Not Act Like That.

I hope this isn’t the end for Ncuti, him as the Doctor is what’s keeping me watching every week because I LOVE where he’s taking it. I just wish the plot and scripts allowed for more exploration of his version of the character and his wants and wishes (lol) and Ruby and Belinda’s character arcs (if you can even call them that).

I hope I eat my words I hope he gets more time I hope characters start to feel fully fleshed out. Mostly I hope we see the end of 8 episode seasons and go back to actual creative freedom and not a streaming set up show. I hope a lot of things.

All 15 of my "Character Posters" for Superman!

a little story:

Rewind back to the summer of 2019 and Superman was all but non-existent on the silver screen, with plans to put the character on an indefinite backburner. I was tired of it. So I decided to just do it myself. I wanted to create my own depiction of Clark Kent and Lois Lane's world and I decided to really focus down on drawing. From then on, I kept my eyes out whenever I was watching a film or TV show for any actors that I could use for reference when drawing Lois and Clark. And by happenstance, I came across both David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan within a couple of weeks from each other. I had never seen two people who looked and felt more like how I viewed Clark Kent and Lois Lane. From then on, I would use their likeness as inspiration for when I would draw Lois and Clark.

Fast forward to the summer of 2023, both David and Rachel were cast as Clark Kent and Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman reboot. Somehow and someway the stars aligned and everything was working out the way I had always fantasized. And for the the first time in so long, I was the happiest I had ever been.

Now with the teaser trailer and sneak peek having been released, I believe, without a shadow of a doubt, this is THE movie I have always wanted. It feels as if it is being made exclusively for me. For this is so much more than a film to me, this is my livelihood, my lifeblood, my passion, my very DNA.

From the bottom of my heart, a monumental thank you to the entire cast and crew, for crafting something so beautiful. Your work has already changed my life and the film isn't even out yet.

July can't come fast enough!

I have been playing with your ukagaka and I have to say I really enjoyed playing with Aldebaran! One question about their design tho. Do they have black lips or black teeth? Because after paying attention to their mouth I'm not longer sure what I'm looking at...

So there's an actual in game reason you can't get lynel weapons anymore??

So I was looking over the monster statues, just examining the design, when I notice something I'd seen but never really twigged:

Those are nuts and bolts. Huh. That's not natural, that's been added on. In fact, you can still see part of the original scratchy lynel horn from botw underneath, even if it has mutated a bit like all the other horned monsters.

See, lynels, with lizalfos in a lesser way, are the only enemies in the game with the intelligence and cunning to forge weapons. A lizal can only manage one boomerang, shield or bow with varying spikes and occasionally repurpose some hylian armour (and often loot anyway), but lynels are capable of creating their own unique metals and using it to completely outfit themselves. Armour, bows, shields, spears, clubs, and swords, complete with sheaths and harnesses and decoration!

But in totk the particularly pointy ones are missing, leaving only shields, armour, and bows. Their weapons were subject to the Decay as well, but instead of trying to use them anyway, what did they do? They broke down their own weapons and repurposed them as enhancements to their own horns! Extra defence and a new devastating attack!

But... For what reason? They could have kept using those weapons just fine, everyone else is! It probably would have been more practical to start attaching things to the end, like the goblins have all started doing (albeit with mixed results, they seem to inordinately favour mushrooms). Why would the most feared enemy in the game feel the need to put more points into defence and intimidation, even sometimes utilising the rock armour?

What would they be feeling the need to so strongly defend from, even to the point of sacrificing huge attack power over it?

The 5 nothing hero of hyrule, who built a whole community of speed running, styling on, brutally murdering lynels almost exclusively again and again and again. Moldugas, hinox, talus, they haven't changed a bit! They weren't at the center of every flashy slow mo clip since the first game came out!

But lynels in totk are running scared, they're building bigger horns to look scarier and armour to hide in, because once they need to get their short range weapons out its already over, or maybe link will just stop farming them for top tear weapons XD.

Tldr: unlike other monsters, which have branched out to kidnapping, riding flying monsters and rolling big spiky balls, lynels have gone entirely the other direction in order to try and scare the hero off after the last round of stylish massacres, and attached their old decayed gear to their horns.

Tldr tldr: botw link is the reason you can't get lynel weapons in totk because he scared them too much.
