#Emergency and Transitional Housing Program
Text
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has signed a bill that is aimed at fighting homelessness.
Called “Home IL,” it will bring state agencies, nonprofit organizations and other advocates together. The bill focuses on an equity-based approach, which includes the voices and contributions of those who have experience homelessness.
It codifies the collaboration to move Illinois to “functional zero” homelessness by bolstering the safety net, targeting high-risk populations, expanding affordable housing, securing financial stability for unhoused individuals and closing the mortality gap.
“Every person deserves access to safe shelter and the dignity that comes with housing,” Pritzker said. “This is a first-of-its-kind multi-agency cooperative effort — bringing together state agencies, nonprofit organizations, advocates, and people with lived experience to prevent and end homelessness. I’m grateful for their dedication and believe that together, we can prevent and end homelessness once and for all.”
Rockford has already taken strides in this aspect. In 2017, it became the first community to reach “functional zero” levels among veterans and the chronically homeless.
Illinois’ Interagency Task Force and Community Advisory Council works across 17 state departments and agencies, as well as over 100 processes, programs and policies, to develop a comprehensive plan to combat homelessness.
The goal of the plan is to prevent shelter entry or ensure that shelter stays are limited and lead to quick transitions into stable living situations.
Pritzker has also committed about $360 million for the initiative in his FY24 budget. These investments include:
• $118 million to support unhoused populations seeking shelter and services, including $40.7 million in the Emergency and Transitional Housing Program.
• $50 million in Rapid ReHousing services for 2,000 households, including short-term rental assistance and targeted support for up to two years.
• $40 million in Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Capital funds to develop 90+ new PSH units providing long term rental assistance and case management.
• $37 million in Emergency Shelter capital funds to create more than 460 non-congregate shelter units.
• $35 million for supportive housing services, homeless youth services, street outreach, medical respite, re-entry services, access to counsel, and other shelter diversion supports.
• $21.8 million to provide homelessness prevention services to approximately 6,000 more families.
• $30 million for court-based rental assistance.
• $15 million to fund Home Illinois Innovations Pilots.
• $12.5 million to create 500 new scattered site PSH units.
“People experiencing the trauma of housing instability are our neighbors and community members who deserve to be treated with humanity and dignity. With this cooperative effort, Illinois is ensuring our state agencies can continue to collaborate, and that stakeholders are at the table with us, to support our most vulnerable in living healthy, well, and with dignity.” Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton said. “Our state is making it clear that we will continue to work together so we can all move forward, and we will focus on holistic strategies that bring us closer to ending homelessness in our state.”

Hi everyone :) My chart readings are still open! The link is in my bio for those who are interested 🤍 My reading reviews are on my Masterlist :)
When your Solar Return Mars is in the 6th house, this is likely to be a very productive year. However, you need to make sure you’re taking care of your health and not overworking yourself. Burnout and poor health will often emerge in such a year, if you are not prioritizing your health and peace.
If you have the ruler of your midheaven in the 10th house, you may own your own business or be in a managerial position at your job. People who reach great heights in the careers often have this placement. It is also possible that you may work in a traditionally ‘prestigious’ or well respected career. Examples are working as a doctor, lawyer, CEO of a successful company etc…
If you have the ruler of your 8th house in the 4th, you may find that you make a lot of money investing in real estate. This is also a placement that can suggest receiving an inheritance from a family member.
Saturn transiting your 3rd house can be a very somber time in your life. You may feel unmotivated or prone to feelings of loneliness and melancholy during this time. Similar to Saturn transiting the 9th house, your outlook on life in general may not always be the most pleasant during this time. Nevertheless, this can be a good time to enroll in a short course or some kind of educational program.
Saturn in the 9th house of a composite chart can be that the two people have very different belief systems and that consequently causes restrictions within the relationship. However, it can also be the opposite. Meaning, the thing that “binds” the couple together is in fact their shared belief systems. Saturn in the 9th is also common to see in the composite charts of couples who are long distance or those who travel long distances together(couples who travel to different countries together).
Something so interesting is that we often have aspects or placements that are associated with the sign over one or both of our parents 5th house cusp. For example, your mother may have Uranus in the 5th house, and you may have an Aquarius Sun, Moon, or rising. Alternatively, it could be that Uranus aspects many of your other placements. I know this may not apply to everyone, but look into your parent’s birth charts! You may be surprised!
A new romantic or business relationship can often start when your Progressed Moon makes a conjunction to your natal descendent. This is especially true if it is a “progressed new moon”. Meaning, your progressed moon is making a conjunction to your natal sun.
Moon square Mars synastry can at times be difficult (especially if it occurs at an orb that is less than 3 degrees) because the Moon person may perceive the Mars person as being insensitive, harsh, or even impulsive. Whereas the Mars person can view the Moon person as being overly sensitive. In a romantic relationship, this aspect can add to the attraction. However, if there are no mitigating factors there can be hurt feelings over time.
When someone’s Mercury falls into your 12th house in synastry, you may feel comfortable opening up to them, and telling them things you would not ordinarily tell someone else. You could often talk about spirituality, mental health, and things you prefer to keep “hidden” from others. At times you may even feel like they can “read your mind” or easily sense what you’re thinking.
People with the North Node in the 7th house tend to be hyper independent (South Node 1st house). Thus, actively dedicating time to connect meaningfully with others is a big part of their karmic destiny here on earth. There is a tendency to self isolate with a 1st house south node, especially when the individual is struggling in any capacity.
On the topic of isolation, those who have the ruler of their Ascendant in the 12th house are also inclined to isolate themselves from the world when struggling. Escapist behaviors can also be high with this placement. However, these are some of the most compassionate and resilient people you will meet.
People with Mars retrograde in their charts may struggle when it comes to the manner in which they express anger/their drive. These people can often hold onto anger for extended periods of time only to let it all out at once. Thus, their anger can often seem misplaced or to come from “out of the blue”.

HUNTER from THE OWL HOUSE

JUSTIFICATIONS:
"Honestly surprised I haven't seen a submission of her yet. Hunter is THE transgender. To me. She was raised in a death cult and groomed into acting like the long-dead guy she was cloned from by her abusive father figure. Has a prolonged identity crisis after finding out about the nature of the aforementioned cult and cloning. Has a middle of the night emergency haircut in front of the mirror moment (there's nothing more transgender than that). Her whole arc is about cult de-programming and finding meaning in being a good friend and having hobbies and being an individual. Loves wolves and sci-fi." - @rolanslide

Loving & Leaving- Part 4
Tumblr media
Visit the series page here.
A/N: Now, we are seeing a shift for our little “non- lovers”. And that’s all I’m gonna say about that 😘 Thank you so much for your love and support on this one. It’s been dreamy and exciting!
Word Count: 3.5k
Warnings: Swearing, lots of vomit talk, pregnancy, angst.
The month of December is hell on earth for event planners. Between your own personal celebrations leading up to the holidays and your client's, you never have a moment to yourself. I’ve seen the inside of my house for a maximum of two hours since I returned back from America. The other times I’ve been there its falling into a pile of exhaustion on my bed before my alarm goes off to do it all over again. My work weeks have transitioned into 70+ hours. At least I know there is light at the end of this tunnel when I return to New Jersey with my parents on Tuesday.
Then, I’ll be able to spend time with them and… hopefully Timo, depending on if I can slip away or not. Communication between the two of us has been limited the last two weeks. I’ve responded to his texts and we have shared a few brief phone calls. At least he’s understanding and supportive. It helps that his season is ramping up and requires a majority of his focus.
We send pictures and TikTok’s, but I haven’t responded to those in five days. I’ve missed every one of his FaceTime calls this week too. Despite my admitted history, I am honestly not avoiding him. The grind of the holiday season is simply catching up with me. I find myself falling asleep the moment I sit down on my couch with a glass of wine. When I’m awake, I feel so overwhelmed that even keeping up with my friends and family here is disappearing from my never ending list. I’m overwhelmed, nearing burn out and honestly, sick. So sick. The last three days, my body has seemingly rejecting all this stress with a nausea I can’t seem to shake.
Which brings me to where I am now, puking, knees quivering on the tiled bathroom floor of an event center for the third time in three days. It’s my last event before Christmas and I’ve spent more time in the bathroom tonight than anywhere else. This is a different kind of sick. It feels like my body is purging everything I put into it before I can get any sort of benefit from it. All I ate was a piece of bread, fast, while rushing back from a dessert emergency in the kitchen. I barely got the last bite down before I was sprinting back to the bathroom.
“What is wrong with me?” I moan, laying the side of my head against the stall. I move to wipe the back of my hand across my mouth. I rest my forearm into my breast and groan at the tenderness. Awareness begins to seep into my thoughts. “No. This is not happening.” I whisper to the empty bathroom.
The door swings open and I grimace, not wanting to have any of the guests of my high-end client hear me. I thought I would have some time alone with the speaking part of the program under way.
“Em, are you okay?” Rhea, my assistant and long-time friend, asks.
“Um.” I pause, pressing the back of my hand furthering into my wet lips. My stomach lurches and I vomit again. I can hear Rhea sigh outside of the stall.
“This isn’t like you.” She says what we are both thinking. I’m rarely sick. This is new. “I’ll be back.” She calls before leaving the bathroom. I sit on my knees, eyes screwed shut, spitting into the toilet. My phone buzzes in my pocket. I pull it out, seeing Timo’s FaceTime call. I can’t answer that right now. Not when I think… I won’t let myself even finish the thought.
Rhea returns, kicking a pink, pregnancy test box under the stall. The woman on the front grins joyfully. I can’t say I feel the same. I consider denying that I need one of these, but Rhea and I spoke this morning about how weird my cycle has been. I had my period a few weeks ago, but it was almost non-existent. I chalked it up to stress, except… now I’m sick.
“How do you just have one of these?” I mumble, hating that we are both on the same page.
“At some point, these things are like strips of gum in your purse.”
We fall quiet.
“This is a low moment for me.” I mutter, ripping the box open. “Taking a… test at a client event is so embarrassing.” I work my way to sitting on the toilet.
“You need to be able to eliminate this.” She responds, leaning against the bathroom door. I scowl, hearing my phone vibrate against the toilet paper dispenser. I know that’s him again. So does Rhea. He has the same routine. Calls three times and leaves a message on the third. “Interesting timing. At least you'll know who’s baby it is.” I glare at the stall door as I snap the cap of the test back on.
“Can I have a minute here?” Guilt squeezes my throat at how unfriendly my tone sounds. My whole world seems up in the air right now and I just need her to stop talking.
But the absence of Rhea’s voice makes my phone vibrating louder until it feels like it’s rattling between my ears. A ping echos in the bathroom signaling a voicemail. I grab my phone, listening to his message.
“Hey Em… uh, it’s me again. Look, I know you’re busy but I’m going to be honest this feels like you’re kinda ignoring me. Did I do something? Or… *heavy sigh* I don’t know. Can you just call me? I miss you. We play tonight, but call me.. I’ll pick up. Just… I want to know you’re okay. Bye.”
My bottom lip trembles at the sound of his voice. No. I am not okay, sitting on the floor of this bathroom, trying not to puke again at the reality of the test in my hand. Worried tears build as I sense the two minutes pass. I know the test is ready, can feel it in my shaking hands and the passing of another song from the band beyond this room.
I move my fingers and die at the distinct plus sign that greets me.
“Fuck.” I cry, throwing the test down on the floor. It bounces underneath to the next stall. My abdomen shakes with sobs and terror as I clasp my hand over my mouth. “Fuck.” I say into my palm again, quieter, listening to the classical strings float into the bathroom from the event space. The soft music is an ironic soundtrack to my whole world crashing down on top of me. I look up at the ceiling, tears crawling from the corners of my eyes. They drip into my ears as I shake against the cold floor.
What am I going to do?
How am I going to tell Timo?
A few days later, after arriving in New Jersey for Christmas, I’ve come to the, admittedly, irrational decision that maybe I just won’t. It’s been an exhausting few days that’s accompanied more nausea and tons of smell aversions. One of them is eggs which Nico is innocently frying up for breakfast.
“You want some?” He asks me as he cracks three eggs for himself.
“No.” I can barely respond without gagging.
Our parents went off on their own for a walk around the city and to grab a cup of their favorite coffee. Usually, I would join them, but my stomach has been so touch and go this morning that I didn’t think I could. Nico continues to move the eggs around and they get more fragrant. I try to switch breathing through my mouth, but the smell seems to coat my tongue. My stomach squeezes and I rush from the kitchen with my hand clasped over my mouth. Nico watches my back with confusion. I return to the kitchen wordlessly when I am done, grabbing a glass of water. Nico stares, eyebrows cocked in question.
“Not sure that motion sickness lasts for days, Em. Maybe you need to see a doctor. I can ask one of the team doctors if they can come over?” I’ve already seen a doctor to confirm my pregnancy. And the thought of getting a team official involved has my throat tightening. I come back to the counter, slowly sitting down and rubbing at the tense muscles in my neck. My gaze drifts to the dining room table, grimacing at the reminder it’s one of the places we could have conceived this baby.
I was so stupid to start us down this road. Yes, I’m on the pill. Yes, I take it regularly. No, I have no idea how this happened. When I brought it up to my doctor, she shrugged, saying no birth control options are completely guaranteed. Then she handed me the sonogram I didn’t ask for, that’s now tucked in my suitcase, buried beneath all my clothes.
I watch Nico scrape his eggs onto a plate, then sprinkle more salt and pepper onto the fluffy peaks. He’s right here in front of me, but it feels like we are a thousands of miles apart. Loneliness grips my heart, making my eyes wet as Nico comes to sit by me. The heaviness of being the only person who knows weighs on me. But, here, in his kitchen, I can feel my little brother’s safety being stable enough to take some of that weight from me. I’m going to tell him, I decide as he shuffles his eggs around, spearing a few onto his fork.
“It’s not motion sickness. I’m pregnant.” I tell Nico, who pauses with his eggs at his open mouth. The egg flies off when he exhales sharply. I bite my tongue against the vomit pressing into my esophagus.
“What?”
“And it’s Timo’s.” I didn’t intend to tell him, but it flew out before I could stop it.
“Yeah, that’s what I’m afraid of.” Surprise absorbs my face now. “I know you two fuck around.” He motions at me with his fork. “Have for years. You two are awful at hiding your obsession with each other.” My mouth is slightly slack as he stabs the egg back on his fork. He stuffs it into his mouth and continues while he chews. “Never understood why you wouldn’t go all in.”
“Because I have a life in Switzerland.”
“Yeah, that’s gone now.” He swipes the air in front of me with his fork again, gesturing to the pregnancy. I narrow my eyes at his bluntness and obvious lack of empathy. “What did Timo say when you told him?” I am silent. He brings his brown eyes back to mine, squinting. “You did tell him, right?” More silence “Emma.” He snaps.
“I just found out.” I defend myself. “Not that I really owe you an explanation.”
“Get dressed.” Nico says, pointing down the hall to my room. “You’re going to tell him now.”
“No, I am not.”
“Yes, you are. It should have been your first stop when you got here.”
“I can’t just show up at his-”
“Are you keeping his baby?” He cuts me off. A heavy inhale pulls my lips apart.
“Yes.” I say without question. It never crossed my mind to not go through with this.
“Then get downstairs.” His voice is final, like there is no reason to continue to argue further with him.
“When did you stop being my protector?” I grumble while rising to leave the counter.
“Who says I stopped?” His stare is pointed. “Go.” His tone has softened at the obvious tears in my eyes. “I wouldn’t send you if I didn’t think it would be okay.”
I try to remember those words as I stare at Timo’s apartment door seven minutes later. I thought about texting him, but then there would be so much small talk and I can’t do that right now. I contemplate bailing, but my brother comes to mind, knowing he’s going to expect a report from the conversation when I return.
“Damn you, Nico.” I mutter as I raise my hand to knock.
I wait for a minute, maybe two, gripping the sleeves of my sweatshirt in my hands. No sound comes from the other side of the door. I think I might get off easy. I even turn to head back towards the elevator. Then the sound of the lock flipping halts me. My stomach drops out of my body, hitting the floor and flopping around in unease.
“Hey.” Timo is breathless as he opens the door. He is wearing a pair of jeans, waistband of his Calvin Klein underwear taut against his abdomen. He stands shirtless in the entry way, rubbing a towel over his hair. The brown strands flop against his forehead as he looks expectantly at me. He looks so sexy, warm and welcoming, with a gentle familiarity. “Didn’t realize you were in Jersey.” He becomes obviously tiffed, understandable since I dropped off the face of the planet… again.
“Yeah.” My voice is breaking, so I clear my throat. “I’ve been here for a couple of days.” I say, fingers twisting the cotton tighter in my palms.
“Ah.” His voice goes flat and he looks away in annoyance. “So we are back to you ignoring me?” I shake my head, dropping my eyes to the floor. I feel queasy and start shaking. I hope he can’t tell.
“Can I come in?” He pauses, dropping the towel down to his side, like he might not let me. But him and I both know that’s now how it goes with us. The smell of his cologne is strong with my heightened senses and I cough in discomfort as I walk past him.
“I’m going to get a shirt.” He disappears down the hall, coming back in a black t-shirt that hugs his body. He runs his fingers through his wet hair while looking at me. “I don’t have long. I’m… meeting a friend.” I stare at him, wondering if it’s a friend of the female variety. I really don’t have a right to ask, so I don’t. My gaze drops to the couch. “It’s just Kevin, Em. The Kings are playing the Islanders.” He crosses his arms and leans back against the island of his kitchen well across the room from me. His biceps bulge against the fabric as he studies me. “You don’t look like you came here for small talk. What’s up?”
“I’m pregnant.” It’s abrupt. I know. Almost too fast for him to catch in real time, but I can’t hold it in anymore. The words are too full and tumble from my mouth in a rush. My heart shutters with each anxious beat. I bravely lift my eyes back to him.
Timo seemingly glitches. He is confused, not quite understanding, like he wants to ask me to repeat what I said. Then, I watch as the registration gradually fills his body. He begins to stand taller, eyebrows dashing up his forehead. When it clicks, his blue eyes widen in alarm.
“Mine?” He asks quietly. I try not to flinch at the question, realizing he will, logically, want a paternity test. He has assets and money and a career to protect. Funny, I thought being pregnant without a boyfriend was the most shameful thing I’ve done in my life. I think that experience is going to top it. Eventually, I nod in response as tears fill my eyes. He pushes out a loaded breath that fills my chest with discomfort. I look briefly back to his face, seeing a million emotions dash across his features, none of them actually registering.
I can’t watch him process anymore. I begin to soothe myself with internal thoughts. It doesn’t really matter what he wants from this. I’ve already made my decision. I’m only here because Nico forced me. I cross my arms over my tender chest, walking towards the windows to see the city skyline. Tears distort the buildings together. I’m collapsing under so many different emotions. It’s like I’m seeing that plus sign all over again.
A drop slides from my left eye, gradually dragging down my cheek. I reach my hand up, flicking it away. My teeth dig into my trembling lip as I sniffle. Timo’s hand comes along my upper back, wrapping around my neck and gliding me into his body.  His other hand wraps around my waist as he buries his face into my cheek. I enclose my arms around him, shoving my face into his chest and releasing my suffocating sobs into his shirt.
“I’m freaking out.” I squeak.
“I know. It’s going to be okay.” Even as his voice shakes, he is so, so gentle with me. His hands press me into his body like he wants to absorb and shield me. “What do you want to do?” He whispers into my hair. “It’s your choice.”
“I’m gonna do this… I’m keeping the baby. ” I tell him. I can feel his body deflate beneath me. For a moment, I don’t know why, but then he presses his face deeper into my hair, kissing my scalp with feathery kisses meant to soothe.
“Okay. I’m happy to hear that.”
I nod, glad that he isn’t pressuring me any which way. I don’t think I could handle his anger with me for wanting to see this through.
“Em, I’m here. You don’t have to do this alone.” I begin to tremble in his arms. He’s not even questioning further about this being ours. “Does Nico know?”
“Yeah. About everything. He is why I am here.”
“You weren’t going to tell me?” He stiffens, pain deepens his voice which makes me feel like shit.
“I.. well yeah, but maybe when we ran into each other in July and I was 9 months pregnant.” I pull back, tilting my chin to see his face. It’s calm and measured, which helps soothe some of the turmoil in me. He reaches up for my cheeks, stroking his thumbs to collect my tears.
“July?”
“Yeah, I confirmed everything at the doctor on Monday. I’m due July 26th.”
“Off-season.” He murmurs with appreciation. “Most NHL couples plan for years to get a July birthday.” I look away with a scrunched nose at the word couple, causing a heavy sigh to drop his shoulders. “Can we agree right now that you’re going to stop fighting the way you feel about us? Please. For our kid?” He says it so casually, like he’s used to and accepted the idea of our kid. My heart grows in my chest for him.
“Becoming a mom isn’t the only thing I’m terrified of.” I confess.
“Baby, I’ve promised you since day one that I would take care of you. I’m not going to let anything hurt you, including me.” He is so sure as he speaks to me. I drop my forehead back to his chest.
“Do you really want this?” I whisper to him, even as he wraps me tighter into his arms, tears dashing down my cheeks again. “You don’t have to do this.” I pull back, reaching up to hold his face in my hands. My thumbs rippling his skin with their pressure.
“You’re all I’ve wanted for years.” He presses our lips together. I cry into his mouth, feeling overwhelmed with everything that has and will happen between us. I feel like I don’t deserve this. Not his sweetness or his understanding at our situation.
“I’m sorry.” I bubble out between sobs. He runs his hand up my back to my head, encouraging my forehead to rest against his shoulder as he rocks us gently. There’s a whole laundry list I could apologize for, but I start with the big one. “I shouldn’t have taken the condom away from you. This is all my fault.”
“Weird, I thought I was the one who came inside of you… three times.” He chuckles at the memory.
“I encouraged it.”
“We both did.” He takes his share of the blame easily from me.
“I didn’t mean for this to happen.” I need him to know that.
“I know, Emma. You’ve been trying to get out of loving me for years. You would never do this on purpose.” I stare at him with blurred vision, blinking so the tears fall down my cheeks. Now I can see him clearly, looking at me like he might finally get the chance to love me for the rest of our lives. I swallow hard, then let myself surrender to him for good.
“I’ve loved you for a really long time, T.” I hum, eyes brightening in earnest with my confession.
He smiles because unlike me, he already knew that.

Emergency Alert System :: FEMA Emergency Action Notification
[ This is an Emergency Action Notification. ]
[ We interrupt our program at the request of the White House. This is a national emergency. The President of the United States or his designated representative will appear shortly over the Emergency Broadcast System. ]
[ The president of the United States appears on screen. The usual White House office is not visible, and a more dimly lit area without windows is identified. ]
"This nation has come under attack by unknown creatures, mostly reptilian in apperance. They are incredibly hostile to all human beings and seek to kill whoever they attack. The creatures come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from the size of an average human to a small building. Some of them even have fantastical appearances such as dragons and dinosaurs. This may all seem unreal, but that is currently what is happening right now."
"The attacks are occurring worldwide. We do not know what the purpose is, only that the creatures are determined to eradicate humans. The military has been deployed to fight back against these creatures. However, their sudden attack and numbers make it difficult to mount an effective counterassault.
"Once again, these creatures are highly dangerous. It is advised that if you are already indoors to find the lowest level and stay there. Do not go near the windows. Do not appear visibly present from the outside. These creatures will attempt to break in if they notice you.
"If you are outside, it is advised to go indoors immediately. If you are travelling via public transportation or car, it is advised you stop and do your best to hide if no buildings are available."
"We will get through this. Our great nation will fight for its people. We will do our best to keep everyone safe. Thank you."
[ This concludes our Emergency Action Notification. The message will be repeated in the following languages... ]
----
Los Angeles City Hall - Revision: Town Hall Website
To those that still alive and can read this, the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, Los Angeles is a safe haven from the monster attacks. We have an angel here from god here that is combatting the monsters with all her strength, delivering justice with her mighty hammer and smiting these devils.
Many are currently taking refuge at the aquarium. Before our angel appeared, we are not sure why it has been left undamaged. Maybe it is because this is a holy place that hides us from the monsters' senses.
I repeat, if you are in the surrounding areas looking for shelter, head to the Aquarium of the Pacific if you can safely do so. Otherwise, stay where you are.
----
Honolulu Capital City Hall Website
All fights to and from Hawaii are grounded until further notice.
There has been severe disruptions to public transit and internet architecture.
If you are reading this, a safe zone has been established at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. We are however currently in the middle of a conflict between the sea monsters in the area and an unknown number of skeletal creatures. It is unclear whether these skeleton creatures are hostile to humans, though their actions have benefits us by combatting the definitively hostile sea monsters.
We advise to avoid the sea and air routes in the area until further notice.
----
Alameda Naval Air Station - San Francisco, CA - Military Orders
Memo: Golden Gate Bridge has fallen. Make appropriate accomodations.
A safe zone has been established at the Transamerica Pyramid. We have teams Metalhead, Seabound, and Crisis manning the defensive line. Reinforcements have been delayed due to the collapse of Golden Gate Bridge.
Small caliber firearms are ineffective against most creatures. Artillery and explosion munitions are required against medium-to-large monsters. Close combat is not advised.
There is currently an unknown entity that does not match the description of the reptilian creatures we are fighting. Allegiance unknown, and those who play the game Duel Monsters here are unfamiliar with the humanoid entity. As of right now, the entity's actions are benefiting us as they seem capable to take down a number of creatures solo. Do not engage if seen in the area and only assist if the entity appears to be in dire straits. If this entity's actions become hostile, let Baseplate know immediately.
----
Sacramento City Hall Website
The primary emergency shelter, the California State Capital, has been destroyed in the fighting. The secondary emergency shelter, the California Supreme Court, is currently full and cannot accomodate more people.
If you are in the Sacramento area, please stay put inside the building you are in. On top of the fighting between the military and monsters, there is an unknown green-glowing Duel Monster that is combating the monsters. A floating green skull marks his location. Avoid the area if you are currently in a safe place.
----
Domino City Museum || Domino City Hall
If you are reading this, there are designated safe zones established in Domino City. If you are close to either area, please either head for the Domino City Museum or the Kame Game Shop. Preferably the Domino City Museum given the lack of space at the Kame Game Shop.
Praise be to the King of Games.

Prior to Cameron: Songs For The Witch Woman, October 11, 2014–January 18, 2015 at MOCA Pacific Design Center, the largest survey of Marjorie Cameron's artwork was The Pearl of Reprisal, a retrospective at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery in 1989. The exhibition spanned thirty years, from the notorious Untitled “Peyote Vision” (1955) to Pluto Transiting the Twelfth House (1978-1986), pen and ink drawings that lent insight to the artist’s psychic state at the time.
Before the opening reception, Hedy Sontag introduced a program titled An Evening With Cameron: The Pearl of Reprisal. Sontag screened two films that feature Cameron: Kenneth Anger’s Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome (1954) and Curtis Harrington’s lyrical documentary The Wormwood Star (1955).
After the screening, Cameron emerged barefoot to give a dramatic reading of her poetry by candlelight. Pleasure Dome cast members Samson De Brier and Paul Mathison were among those in attendance. The reading, which was art directed by Sontag, evokes Cameron in her Topanga Canyon studio, deep in thought as she detaches from the lived world and navigates the subconscious. A prolific writer who shared her work with friends, Cameron was private when inspiration struck. She was known to write in her notebook in social settings, fervently and silently; she forbade visitors to her studio, a sanctum where art-making and writing mingled with astrology and occult ritual.
Though the dates of these journal entries and poems are not known, in their language of mourning and invocation, and use of sacred and Romantic imagery, they are of a piece with the notebooks Cameron kept after the death of Jack Parsons in 1952, as well as the verses she recites in The Wormwood Star, which describe the birth of a spiritual child born of psychic union with Parsons.
Notably, Cameron reads prose from Anatomy of Madness (1956) [5:39], a mixed-media folio included in the exhibition and on view at MOCA. Later published in Wallace Berman’s Semina, the text recounts a life cycle of death, rebirth, metamorphosis, and finally, a transcendent spiritual breakthrough.
This never before seen footage, courtesy of the Cameron Parsons Foundation, is a rare document of an artist whose practice had delved further inward, away from the public eye. Due to the quality of the recording, this video has been subtitled. Every effort has been made by MOCA and the Cameron Parsons Foundation to ensure accuracy of the transcription. Please note that the original footage was edited in camera and portions of the reading were omitted by the cameraperson.

Homelessness in the United States presents a complex and multi-faceted societal challenge, reflecting deeper issues of economic disparity, housing instability, and insufficient social safety nets. As of the most recent reports, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) estimates that on any given night, over half a million people are experiencing homelessness across the country. This figure encompasses individuals living on the streets, in emergency shelters, or in transitional housing programs. The causes of homelessness are diverse, ranging from economic factors like job loss and unaffordable housing to personal issues such as mental health and substance abuse.
The concept of criminalizing homelessness has emerged as a contentious response to this issue in many U.S. cities and states. This approach involves the enactment of laws and ordinances that effectively make it illegal to perform life-sustaining activities in public spaces, such as sleeping, eating, or panhandling. These laws are often justified as measures to maintain public order and safety, but critics argue that they merely punish the visible symptoms of homelessness without addressing its root causes. The criminalization of homelessness raises significant ethical and legal questions, particularly regarding the rights of the most vulnerable populations in society. It also leads to a cycle of arrests, fines, and jail time for homeless individuals, which can exacerbate their situation and make it even harder to secure stable housing and employment.
Denver, Colorado, presents a particularly illustrative case study in the criminalization of homelessness. In recent years, the city has implemented various urban camping bans and other ordinances that target public activities commonly associated with homelessness. These measures have sparked significant debate and legal challenges, highlighting the tensions between urban development, public space management, and the rights of homeless individuals. Denver's approach reflects a broader trend in American cities where rapid urban development and rising housing costs often collide with growing homeless populations, leading to contentious policy decisions and public debates.
The situation in Denver and other U.S. cities underscores the need for a more nuanced and compassionate approach to homelessness. While the criminalization of homelessness might offer a short-term solution to the visibility of the problem, it fails to address the systemic issues that lead to homelessness in the first place. This approach also raises critical concerns about the rights and dignity of homeless individuals, calling for a reevaluation of how society and policymakers perceive and respond to this complex issue. Ultimately, the case of Denver highlights the challenges and controversies inherent in addressing homelessness in urban America, serving as a microcosm of a national issue that demands thoughtful, holistic, and humane solutions.
Understanding the Criminalization of Homelessness
Understanding the criminalization of homelessness requires delving into the legal and societal mechanisms through which individuals experiencing homelessness are penalized for their status. This criminalization is a process where activities necessary for survival in public spaces - such as sleeping, eating, or begging - are legally prohibited, leading to penalties that range from fines to imprisonment. It represents a legal approach to homelessness that prioritizes public order and aesthetics over addressing the underlying causes of homelessness.
At the core of this criminalization are various laws and ordinances enacted by city councils and state legislatures. Anti-vagrancy laws are one of the oldest forms, traditionally outlawing the presence of people perceived as 'vagrants' in public spaces. Modern versions of these laws might target behaviors like loitering or sleeping in parks. Anti-panhandling laws restrict begging or soliciting in certain areas, often justifying these restrictions as necessary for public safety or to prevent fraud. Laws against sleeping in public spaces, sometimes referred to as "urban camping bans," prohibit sleeping, resting, or storing personal belongings in public areas. Cities might also enforce sit-lie ordinances, which make it illegal to sit or lie down on sidewalks in certain parts of the city during specific times.
The rationale behind these laws often revolves around concerns for public health and safety, maintaining the aesthetic quality of urban spaces, and supporting local businesses that might be affected by the presence of homeless individuals. Proponents argue that such laws are necessary to prevent public spaces from becoming unsanitary or unsafe, and to ensure that commercial districts remain attractive and accessible to shoppers and tourists.
However, public attitudes towards homelessness and these laws are deeply divided. On one side, some view these laws as necessary measures to maintain order and protect the rights of the broader community. They argue that the presence of homeless individuals in public spaces can lead to increased crime, decreased property values, and a general deterioration of the neighborhood quality.
On the other hand, critics of these laws see them as inhumane and counterproductive. They argue that criminalizing homelessness does not solve the problem but merely pushes it out of sight. By penalizing behaviors that are a direct result of being homeless, these laws make it more difficult for individuals to escape the cycle of homelessness. Paying fines or serving jail time can be particularly challenging for someone without stable income or housing, and having a criminal record can make it even harder to find employment or rent an apartment.
Additionally, these critics highlight that criminalization often ignores the systemic issues that lead to homelessness, such as lack of affordable housing, inadequate mental health services, and systemic poverty. They advocate for a more compassionate approach that addresses these root causes, providing support and services to help individuals transition out of homelessness.
The criminalization of homelessness reflects a tension between maintaining public order and addressing the needs of the homeless population. It raises significant ethical, legal, and practical questions about how society chooses to respond to this complex social issue. While the goal of maintaining clean and safe public spaces is understandable, the methods of achieving this through criminalization are increasingly being scrutinized and challenged. The debate continues as communities grapple with finding the most effective and humane ways to address the persistent challenge of homelessness.
Historical Context of Homelessness in the United States
The history of homelessness in the United States is a tapestry of socio-economic changes, policy shifts, and evolving public attitudes. Tracing its roots, one can observe that homelessness as a widespread issue became particularly noticeable in the late 19th century, coinciding with industrialization and urbanization. However, it was the Great Depression of the 1930s that brought the plight of homeless individuals into stark relief, as massive economic downturns left many without jobs or homes. This period saw an unprecedented number of Americans experiencing homelessness, leading to the establishment of transient camps known as "Hoovervilles."
Post-World War II America witnessed a period of economic prosperity that somewhat mitigated the homelessness crisis. However, this was not to last. The deinstitutionalization movement of the 1960s and 1970s, aimed at reforming mental health care, inadvertently contributed to a new wave of homelessness. Many patients, released from psychiatric institutions, lacked adequate community-based support and resources, leading to increased rates of homelessness, particularly among individuals with mental health issues.
Economic factors have also played a crucial role in the history of homelessness in the U.S. The late 20th century saw significant changes in the economy, including deindustrialization, a shift to service-based jobs, and rising housing costs. These changes disproportionately affected low-income individuals, making housing unaffordable for many. The 1980s and 2000s economic recessions further exacerbated this trend, leading to spikes in homelessness. Additionally, urban renewal projects often led to the demolition of affordable housing units, replacing them with developments out of reach for low-income individuals.
Social policies have had a mixed impact on homelessness. The federal government initially took a welfare-oriented approach, with programs in the 1960s and 1970s aimed at providing housing and support services. However, in the 1980s, there was a significant policy shift. The federal government reduced spending on affordable housing and welfare programs, leading to a reduction in available resources for those at risk of homelessness. This period marked a gradual shift from welfare approaches to an emphasis on law and order, culminating in the criminalization of homelessness.
This shift to criminalization became increasingly prominent in the 1990s and 2000s. Cities across the U.S. began enacting ordinances that targeted homeless people, penalizing activities such as sleeping in public, panhandling, and loitering. These laws were often justified as necessary for public safety and urban cleanliness, but they did little to address the root causes of homelessness. Instead, they led to a cycle of fines, arrests, and incarceration for many homeless individuals, exacerbating the challenge of re-entering society and finding stable housing.
The history of homelessness in the United States is marked by a complex interplay of economic upheavals, social policy changes, and shifting public attitudes. From the welfare-oriented approaches of the mid-20th century to the more recent trend of criminalization, the nation's response to homelessness has evolved, reflecting broader societal values and economic realities.

Unsung Heroes of NYC Inspire Student-Designed Air Jordan I Mid
Tumblr media
In a groundbreaking collaboration, the latest release from the Jordan Wings Design Program introduces the Air Jordan I Mid Subway, a tribute to the unsung heroes of New York City: the dedicated staff of the MTA, North America's largest public transit system.
Over a period of six weeks, more than 130 high school students from Jordan Brand Wings partner organizations across the nation joined forces with the Jordan Brand product-creation team. Together, they embarked on a creative journey to design an Air Jordan I that celebrates the theme of "role models." Hailing from cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Charlotte, and Philadelphia, these students were encouraged to infuse their personal stories into their designs, paying homage to the local figures who inspire and support their aspirations.
After an intensive design process, where students pitched their concepts to a panel of Jordan Brand employees, one standout design emerged: the Air Jordan 1 Mid Subway, representing the spirit of New York City.
This limited-edition sneaker serves as a heartfelt tribute to the tireless efforts of MTA crews who ensure that New Yorkers can navigate their city with ease. Adorned with inspirational phrases like "Always Go Forward" and "Thank You For All You Do," the shoe captures the resilience and dedication of these essential workers. Drawing inspiration from the iconic branding of the transit system, every detail of the Air Jordan I Mid Subway reflects the unique character of NYC's bustling streets.
For the student designers involved, seeing their vision come to life is a moment of immense pride and accomplishment. Oscar Chun, one of the NYC-based designers, expressed his joy, likening the experience to hearing one's song on the radio for the first time.
The Air Jordan I Mid Subway is set to release on May 15 in grade school, preschool, and toddler sizes, available online at nike.com and in-store at Nike House of Innovation NYC and Nike Soho. This release not only celebrates the creativity of young minds but also highlights the power of collaboration in honoring community heroes.

A long-simmering crisis over Haiti’s ability to govern itself, particularly after a series of natural disasters and an increasingly dire humanitarian emergency, has come to a head in the Caribbean nation, as its de facto president remains stranded in Puerto Rico and its people starve and live in fear of rampant violence.
The chaos engulfing the country has been bubbling for more than a year, only for it to spill over on the global stage on Monday night, as Haiti’s unpopular prime minister, Ariel Henry, agreed to resign once a transitional government is brokered by other Caribbean nations and parties, including the U.S.
But the very idea of a transitional government brokered not by Haitians but by outsiders is one of the main reasons Haiti, a nation of 11 million, is on the brink, according to humanitarian workers and residents who have called for Haitian-led solutions.
Tumblr media
What is happening in Haiti and why?
In the power vacuum that followed the assassination of democratically elected President Jovenel Moïse in 2021, Henry, who was prime minister under Moïse, assumed power, with the support of several nations, including the U.S.
When Haiti failed to hold elections multiple times — Henry said it was due to logistical problems or violence — protests rang out against him. By the time Henry announced last year that elections would be postponed again, to 2025, armed groups that were already active in Port-au-Prince, the capital, dialed up the violence.
Even before Moïse’s assassination, these militias and armed groups existed alongside politicians who used them to do their bidding, including everything from intimidating the opposition to collecting votes. With the dwindling of the country’s elected officials, though, many of these rebel forces have engaged in excessively violent acts, and have taken control of at least 80% of the capital, according to a United Nations estimate.
Those groups, which include paramilitary and former police officers who pose as community leaders, have been responsible for the increase in killings, kidnappings and rapes since Moïse’s death, according to the Uppsala Conflict Data Program at Uppsala University in Sweden. According to a report from the U.N. released in January, more than 8,400 people were killed, injured or kidnapped in 2023, an increase of 122% increase from 2022.
Tumblr media
Armed groups who had been calling for Henry’s resignation have already attacked airports, police stations, sea ports, the Central Bank and the country’s national soccer stadium. The situation reached critical mass earlier this month when the country’s two main prisons were raided, leading to the escape of about 4,000 prisoners. The beleaguered government called a 72-hour state of emergency, including a night-time curfew — but its authority had evaporated by then.
Aside from human-made catastrophes, Haiti still has not fully recovered from the devastating earthquake in 2010 that killed about 220,000 people and left 1.5 million homeless, many of them living in poorly built and exposed housing. More earthquakes, hurricanes and floods have followed, exacerbating efforts to rebuild infrastructure and a sense of national unity.
Since the earthquake, “there have been groups in Haiti trying to control that reconstruction process and the funding, the billions of dollars coming into the country to rebuild it,” said Beckett, who specializes in the Caribbean, particularly Haiti.
Tumblr media
Many armed groups have formed in recent years claiming to be community groups carrying out essential work in underprivileged neighborhoods, but they have instead been accused of violence, even murder. One of the two main groups, G-9, is led by a former elite police officer, Jimmy Chérizier — also known as “Barbecue” — who has become the public face of the unrest and claimed credit for various attacks on public institutions. He has openly called for Henry to step down and called his campaign an “armed revolution.”
But caught in the crossfire are the residents of Haiti. In just one week, 15,000 people have been displaced from Port-au-Prince, according to a U.N. estimate. But people have been trying to flee the capital for well over a year, with one woman telling NBC News that she is currently hiding in a church with her three children and another family with eight children. The U.N. said about 160,000 people have left Port-au-Prince because of the swell of violence in the last several months.
Deep poverty and famine are also a serious danger. Gangs have cut off access to the country’s largest port, Autorité Portuaire Nationale, and food could soon become scarce.
Haiti's uncertain future
A new transitional government may dismay the Haitians and their supporters who call for Haitian-led solutions to the crisis.
But the creation of such a government would come after years of democratic disruption and the crumbling of Haiti’s political leadership. The country hasn’t held an election in eight years.
Haitian advocates and scholars like Jemima Pierre, an associate anthropology professor at Columbia University, say foreign intervention, including from the U.S., is partially to blame for Haiti’s turmoil. The U.S. has routinely sent thousands of troops to Haiti, intervened in its government and supported unpopular leaders like Henry.
Tumblr media
In fact, the country’s situation was so dire that Henry was forced to travel abroad in the hope of securing a U.N. peacekeeping deal. He went to Kenya, which agreed to send 1,000 troops to coordinate an East African and U.N.-backed alliance to help restore order in Haiti, but the plan is now on hold. Kenya agreed last October to send a U.N.-sanctioned security force to Haiti, but Kenya’s courts decided it was unconstitutional. The result has been Haiti fending for itself.
“A force like Kenya, they don’t speak Kreyòl, they don’t speak French,” Pierre said. “The Kenyan police are known for human rights abuses. So what does it tell us as Haitians that the only thing that you see that we deserve are not schools, not reparations for the cholera the U.N. brought, but more military with the mandate to use all kinds of force on our population? That is unacceptable.”
Tumblr media
Now that Henry is to stand down, it is far from clear what the armed groups will do or demand next, aside from the right to govern.
“It’s the Haitian people who know what they’re going through. It’s the Haitian people who are going to take destiny into their own hands. Haitian people will choose who will govern them,” Chérizier said recently, according to The Associated Press.
Haitians and their supporters have put forth their own solutions over the years, holding that foreign intervention routinely ignores the voices and desires of Haitians.
In 2021, both Haitian and non-Haitian church leaders, women’s rights groups, lawyers, humanitarian workers, the Voodoo Sector and more created the Commission to Search for a Haitian Solution to the Crisis. The commission has proposed the “Montana Accord,” outlining a two-year interim government with oversight committees tasked with restoring order, eradicating corruption and establishing fair elections.

Community Engagement: Mixed-use developments serve as vibrant hubs of community life, fostering social interaction, collaboration, and a sense of belonging among residents. The diverse mix of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces creates opportunities for spontaneous encounters and shared experiences, strengthening social ties and fostering a sense of community. Moreover, mixed-use developments often host community events, cultural activities, and recreational programs that bring residents together and promote civic engagement. Reliaable Developers projects actively promote community living, bringing together like-minded individuals and fostering a sense of belonging among residents. Higher Property Values: The comprehensive amenities, convenience, and vibrant atmosphere offered by mixed-use developments often lead to higher property values for residents and investors. The diverse range of functions within these developments appeals to a broad spectrum of homebuyers, tenants, and businesses, driving demand and increasing real estate values over time. As a result, mixed-use developments are not only financially lucrative investments but also contribute to the long-term prosperity and sustainability of the community as a whole. Reliaable Developers' commitment to creating thriving mixed-use developments shows their dedication to enhancing property values and fostering sustainable growth within the community. Reliaable Developers Reviews often mention the value appreciation of properties within their mixed-use developments, highlighting them as lucrative investments in the real estate market.
Conclusion In conclusion, mixed-use developments represent a holistic approach to urban planning that prioritizes sustainability, livability, and economic vitality. By integrating diverse functions within cohesive, well-designed spaces, these developments not only enhance the quality of life for residents but also foster vibrant, resilient communities that thrive in the face of change. As we look to the future, embracing the principles of mixed-use development will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping the cities of tomorrow, with initiatives like those undertaken by Reliaable Developers leading the way towards a more sustainable and inclusive urban landscape. What about narrator and a reader who doesn't exactly have the good kind of parents. Also like narrator being like a parental figure to the reader ( idk I just find the scenario of narrator protecting the reader from bad parents kinda wholesome )
Narrator With a Reader Who Has Bad Parents
The narrator isn’t exactly sure when it happened, but he’s started thinking of you as his own kid.
Depending on your age, he’ll either walk you to school and back home again, or keep you company as you commute to work.
He’s always keeping a benevolent eye out, wanting to make sure you stay safe.
As for you, his presence in your life was a little hard to get used to, given that your biological parents were… Yeah, less said, the better.
You love him, that much is clear, but the feeling of being safe with someone is difficult to comprehend, given your background.
He’s always picking up the pieces that your parents break.
You show your biological parents your latest achievements, and you’re ignored. The narrator says, “I’m very proud of you for what you’ve done.” You start to tear up. “I don’t remember the last time someone’s told me that.” He rubs your back and comforts you to the best of his ability. “It’s alright, reader, it’s alright. I’ll tell you as many times as you need.”
You want to spend time with your biological parents. Why, the narrator can’t understand. When you get rebuffed, the narrator spends time with you instead. “Come on sport, let’s get some ice cream and you can tell me about your day.”
You’re so full of doubt, because they never reassure you. The narrator does his best to make up for the lack in your life. “Things will be fine. You and I, we’ll write your story together, hmm? I’m an excellent storyteller, you know. We can create something wonderful. What do you say?”
You curl in bed, your parents having mistreated you really badly one night, and though he isn’t visible, he’s combing his fingers through your hair, trying to provide comfort. On the inside though, he’s boiling with rage.
How dare your biological parents not see what a treasure of a child you were. Of course, he’d never call you that directly, he has standards! (and is too embarrassed to admit how fatherly he felt towards you)
The narrator begins to form various plans. He begins finding resources in case you ever need to make a run for it one day. Homeless shelters, cheap hotels, couch crashing, anything he can get his hands on.
He doesn’t know what the long term effects of staying with your parents will be, but he doesn’t want you to be in pain. In the meantime…
The narrator strikes back against your parents in little ways, becoming their personal poltergeist. Objects begin to float, important things are misplaced, and whispers angrily to them when they’re asleep. Your parents don’t sleep well at night anymore.
If the abuse escalated, the narrator would step in. One of your parents gets really close to your face, too close, and they’re about to do something horrible-
“Get away from my child.” His voice is like venomous steel, and your biological parent is startled. “Who said that?” They look around wildly. The narrator speaks again. “They are under my protection. Get out.” Your bio parent flees your bedroom.
You’re shaking and crying. The narrator wraps himself around you protectively. “Are you alright?” He asks, and you’re not sure. He stays by your side all night.
The narrator doesn’t know whether or not he made a mistake, speaking out like that. Plans to get you out may have to be sped up. But he holds you close, and silently vows that you’ll never go through something like this alone again.
(writer here. I left my parent's place when I was 20 years old. There were emergency circumstances that propelled me out the door. I've been in a few different transitional housing programs. Things are more settled for me now, though I still move around a lot. I don't know who sent this, but I can dedicate a message to everyone who reads this: Document what they're doing, you may need proof someday. Start googling. Look for local resources. Create contingency plans. Hit up your local library if you can, they're a surprisingly excellent resource for food and shelter programs. If you've got a safe place to live, then please donate to those types of programs if you can afford it. (but also do some research because it's very hit or miss for the clients inside the program) Circumstances were difficult for a very long time after I left, but it ended up saving my life. One day, i'll tell the full story about what happened.)

Anti-transgender bills in Florida:
Hate.
Fascism.
Genocide.
These are the only words that come to mind to describe what's going on in Florida's House and Senate in March 2023. The Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, may as well add a bill to have us wear pink triangle arm bands at this point like the Nazis did.
For the love of God, vote in your next election. People's very lives depend on it.
HB1223:
Strengthen the 'don't say gay' bill. Bans any discussion on sexuality and gender through 8th grade, then vaguely states that any material from 8th to 12th grade must be age appropriate. It doesn't give any guidelines to what that is. The bill also limits pronoun usage to birth gender being the only acceptable use in schools. Teachers have to submit a full list of every. Single. Book. In their class rooms for state approval under the new current law.
SB1438:
This one legislates drag performances. It will fine, suspend, and revoke all licenses for any business that do any kind of drag performances where children are present.
HB1011:
Restricts what flags can be flown at public buildings. Specifically, it is targeting the LGBT flag and the transgender pride flag. But the bill is written so badly that it oddly also includes local government flags.
SB1674:
This one is an anti transgender bathroom bill. Bans anyone from using a bathroom or changing room other than for the sex listed on their birth certificate. Punishments include jail time, sexual misdemeanor infraction on you record, and a 10,000 dollar fine.
HB1069:
Bans sex education until 6th grade. No discussion of periods until 6th grade even for girls who have them early will be allowed by school officials. Abstinence only education as only acceptable education. It would also allow any person in your school district to object to any classroom book, school library book, or a book on a reading list that shows or describes any sexual conduct, even if it is not pornographic—provided it’s not for a health course. It also limits all discussion of gender to binary terms only, including how students and staff are addressed.
HB 999:
Removes all attempts at diversity employment from universities of any kind. Guts diversity programs, as well as ban majors and minors in subjects like Gender Studies, Intersectionality, Critical Race Theory, Radical Gender Theory, and any interest groups for minorities of all types, not just LGBT organizations. Amazing they didn't add anthropology to the list.
SB 952:
Requires employers who allowed insurance to cover gender transition in the past to pay all expenses for detransitioning, even if the employee no longer works for that company.
SB254 / HB1421:
This is the one that scares me the most. Bans all transition related treatment for children. Remove all insurance support for transition related care. Because the bill is badly written, it technically also bans procedures used in some cancer treatments for breast cancer and prostate cancer as medications and procedures are also used for transition. Allows the state to take emergency custody of a child being supported through transition. All transgender youths in Florida under the age of 18 must de-transition by the end of 2023.
It also allows the state to take emergency custody of a child with a transgender parent. Even crossing state lines if one parent lives in Florida.

The Department of Housing Stability (HOST) partners with many agencies citywide to provide shelter for people experiencing homelessness. There are many shelter facilities throughout the city, so rather than requiring people in crisis to navigate a complex system, we have identified specific centrally-located facilities as the "front door" access to the entire system. These programs reflect a concerted effort by various organizations and city departments in Denver to address transportation barriers faced by the homeless population, enhancing their access to essential services and support.
Navigating the City Without Wheels: The Transportation Struggle for the Homeless
In the landscape of urban challenges, one of the most pressing yet often overlooked issues is the lack of accessible transportation for the homeless population. Mobility, a fundamental aspect of urban life, becomes a significant barrier for those living on the streets. This article explores the difficulties faced by the homeless due to the absence of reliable transportation, underlined by pertinent statistics and studies.
The Scale of the Issue
Access to transportation is crucial for meeting basic needs, seeking employment, attending healthcare appointments, and more. For the homeless, the absence of personal transport or the means to afford public transit can severely limit access to essential services and opportunities. According to a report by the National Alliance to End Homelessness, transportation barriers significantly impact approximately 20-30% of the homeless population, hindering their efforts to secure housing, employment, and access health care.
Compounded Challenges
The impact of transportation difficulties on the homeless is multi-faceted:
Employment: A study by the American Journal of Public Health found that 55% of homeless individuals cited transportation as a major barrier to employment. Lack of reliable transport means missed job interviews and employment opportunities.
Healthcare Access: Transportation barriers are associated with missed or delayed healthcare appointments. The Journal of Community Health notes that 10-15% of homeless individuals have reported missing medical appointments due to transportation issues.
Shelter and Food Access: Moving between shelters, food banks, and other service locations can be a significant challenge. The American Public Transportation Association highlights that the lack of transport can lead to increased vulnerability, especially in severe weather conditions.
Public Transportation and Its Limitations
While public transportation is a potential resource, it is not always a viable solution for the homeless. Cost, despite discounted fares in some cities, remains a hurdle. Additionally, many shelters and service providers are located outside the central areas served by public transit, making access to these facilities a challenge.
Innovative Solutions and Community Efforts
Recognizing these challenges, some cities and organizations have begun implementing innovative solutions:
Free or Subsidized Transit Programs: Some cities have introduced free or subsidized transit passes for homeless individuals, though these programs are not widespread.
Shuttle Services: Certain non-profits and shelters offer shuttle services to and from essential service locations.
Bike Sharing Initiatives: Some communities have started bike-sharing programs specifically targeted at the homeless, offering an affordable and flexible transportation option.
The Road Ahead
While these initiatives offer some relief, a more comprehensive approach is needed to address the transportation barriers faced by the homeless. This includes policy changes to expand and fund transportation assistance programs, integrating transportation planning into homelessness support strategies, and increasing collaboration between transit authorities, non-profits, and social service agencies.
The struggle for transportation among the homeless is a critical issue that requires immediate attention and action. Enhancing mobility for the homeless is not just about providing access to transportation; it's about restoring independence, facilitating access to essential services, and supporting the journey out of homelessness. As we continue to seek solutions for the myriad challenges faced by the homeless, addressing their transportation needs remains a pivotal part of this collective effort.

valentines
a starter for @jbbarnes107
Her retirement had been a difficult transition at first, but as weeks turned into months, she was finding the subtle joy in playing house. There were occasions she got the call from Fury to gear up, but he respected her choice to stay off the active roster. After a lifetime of blood and pain and death, this was a welcome change.
Bucky needed to work, according to him. To keep Sam out of trouble, to solve the problems he had the skills for. Nat knew he still felt guilt over his decades as the Winter Soldier, and that he needed to repay the world for what he had done. On the surface, he understood that it had been HYDRA’s programming, but Bucky had grown up in an era were men took responsibility. He inched closer and closer to the man he had been before the war, and Nat was more than happy to support that. He was waking up with night terrors less nowadays, but all it took was a bad day for the doubts to re-emerge.
It was Valentine’s Day, and she’d been planning something special for him for a few weeks now. The forecast for the evening had cooperated - chilly, but clear skies. He would be back later after a debriefing, which gave her plenty of time to get everything together. The scene was set, and she took painstaking care with her hair and dress, making sure they were just right.
Before she left the apartment, she set out a suit and dress shoes for him on the kitchen island, a note beside the outfit reading “Meet me on the roof - N”.
