Emily is a supernatural hunter and the main female character in the book. She, along with her twin sister Elena, were raised by their adoptive father, Bobby, after their biological parents died from a hellhound attack. Growing up a life without her parents, Emily wanted to learn more about her family history and sets off on her own to find answers. Reuniting with her childhood friends, Sam and Dean Winchester, she joins them to try and find their father, John, who mysteriously disappeared on a case while searching for answers about Emily's family heritage. In seasons 1-2, Emily was first introduced as an ordinary human who lost her parents at a young age, but throughout season 3, she discovers that she is a witch, which she inherited from her deceased mother and learns to control her powers taught by the demon Ruby before she met another witch, her mentor and close friend, Rowena. During season 5, she also finds out that she is the true vessel of the archangel Josette, but learns to share a body with her former enemy. Throughout the book series, she starts a romantic relationship with Sam and had two children, Hope and Dean II after his uncle and Sam's older brother.

The lives of everyone in Mystic Falls were much different back then than they are today. Including the Salvatore Brothers Stefan and Damon, but mostly Stefan. Today marks the 40 years that Stefan Salvatore has seen Orion. Orion was Stefan's first love, not to mention one of the first witches that Stefan had ever met. They met in 1864 when Katherine arrived, and Orion followed shortly after.

Flashback | 1864 | Salvatore Mansion

"Mr. Salvatore you are quite the flirt.." Orion said as he and Damon were walking about outside. The breeze was soft and gentle, tiny strands of Orion and Damon's hair were blowing in the wind.

"It's something I take pride in, that and other things.." Damon said with a grin, and he flashed Orion a smirk that could kill anyone with just a glance. Orion couldn't lie he had a crush on Damon, but Stefan was Orion's and he always would be no matter what.

6 Hours Later

Orion was rushing through the field, his body moving freely within the wind as he met up with Emily Bennett, she told him what was going on with the vampires and he looked around the place, he ran off towards the Salvatore house and looked through it, Damon and Stefan nowhere to be found.

He ran off into the woods, as far as his legs could carry him and as far away from Mystic Falls as possible, he knew that if they found out that witches were also there, it would be a mass execution.

Mystic Falls | Present Day | Town Square

The town square was booming at this time of day, in other words, there were so many people out that if someone wanted to do a mass killing, the population would decline exponentially. Stefan was walking through the town square when he heard distant screams he looked around the town square and used his vampire hearing, he recognized the screams of Elena.

He sped to the graveyard and saw her getting rampaged by a vampire, he sped to the vampire and threw him on the ground using his strength, the sound of a loud crunch sound could be heard as the vampire's arm broke and snapped back into place. Elena, panting, ran to the side of a building and she stood there trying to catch her breath.

"Really shouldn't be fighting in broad daylight like this.." A voice from behind the two fighting vampires said it was broad and almost commanding in a way. The man stood there in somewhat comfortable clothing as the two vampires stopped what they were doing.

"Orion.." Stefan said in a whisper as he looked around the graveyard and then back at Orion, gritting his teeth a little bit.

Elena is the twin sister of Emily and a recurring character in the book. Upon learning that her sister left to uncover clues towards their parents’ deaths, she, along with Bobby Singer, had been trying to find her but stopped their search once they realized that Emily didn’t want to be found. Elena had been struggling to live a normal life ever since her parents, Marian and Jackson Labonair, died in a hellhound attack when she and Emily were young. Her life also changed when she and her sister were adopted by Bobby and adapted into the hunting life that surrounds her to face powerful supernatural enemies. Elena was described as a compassionate, empathetic, caring and selfless person, who at times can be very vulnerable, naive and a damsel in distress. Her actions and beliefs throughout the book have been most influenced by her sister’s relationship with the Winchester brothers, as well as by her antagonistic relationship with the demon Crowley. When Elena was placed under a sleeping spell, she would have remained that way until Emily died, however, her sister found a way to break the spell and wake her, reuniting her with their friends. After Dean’s death, Elena achieved her lifelong dream of having a normal life before she died of old age and found peace with her parents and Bobby.
