im so happy i managed to change my ssd drive and add another ram to my old desktop pc, so hopefully now i won't have to be worried that it would crash everytime i have photoshop open for too long 🙏

Going through a straight up comical amount of irritating situations to get the stupid 4* guaranteed ticket from the welcome to sekai campaign. It Will Be Mine.

#I’m resuming this tomorrow it’s been hours now I’m just mad #I’m home because my parents are moving to a different state and I needed to pack whatever was left #and for some reason we just keep old devices when we’re done with them #so I borrow an adapter to allow me to connect my ancient unworking iPad mini to my laptop #factory reset it. i have to reset an old email to access the old Apple id to fully reset it.#it won’t connect to the wifi so I have to reset the settings. i find out it’s too old to run pjsk.#i find an old phone that should work. i reset it as well. I’m able to download pjsk & it takes 20 minutes.#pjsk crashes everytime I try to open it. i attempt to run bluestacks on my computer. bluestacks doesn’t have 64 bit for mac yet.#i get a free trial of parallels and download windows onto my laptop. this takes 40 minutes.#i try to download and run bluestacks on that. m1 macs apparently can’t run bluestacks 64 bit through parallels.#i go find the final old phone that I had forgotten about. it takes forever to charge because the charging port is fucked up. i reset it as #well. it can’t connect to wifi. i try a hotspot on my current phone. service is too awful. i try to do wifi sharing from my laptop.#you have to be connected to the router via a cable for that to work.#at this point it has been like 3 hours. I’m giving up because I’ve been down this route before #when I attempted to run 32 bit steam games on m1 mac #(wine64 doesn’t exist for m1 macs yet -> attempt to run boot camp -> boot camp isn’t a thing anymore on Apple silicon -> attempt to run #several different programs that allow me to run windows on a mac. none of them work. ->#look into linux & give up. -> attempt to implement the unfinished/unbottled wine64 code thru terminal. ->#fuck up and delete some important file & have to fix that (misery inducing) -> keep trying. i think I downloaded a Mac coding program at #some point? i realize I have zero coding knowledge and this is a mistake. -> give up and purchase crossover. game doesn’t even work. ->#3 months later update to the latest OS so I can have enough storage to play psychonauts 2. find out the $60 crossover #purchase was a bad idea because ‘heehee crossover doesn’t work on that buy the new version’ (fuck crossover).#my toxic trait is my belief that I can figure out anything via google and sheer stubbornness. usually this is true. occasionally there are #exceptions to this rule. most of them are because owning Apple products is a mistake.#i think if I reset the router tomorrow I can solve this problem but I can also just go elsewhere with better service or wait until I’m home #now it’s a matter of pride. and also free 4*/I have nothing better to do because I’m stuck here until Tuesday.#<- this is all normal behavior by the way. who doesn’t spend 8 hours ramming their head against a problem every once and a while. enrichment #mine #oh I forgot. i also looked into cloning the app but that would cost money for something that might not even work.#‘just log out and make an alt’ and risk losing my account? today we had presentations and these mfs didn’t know how to use USBs or Microsoft. The girl “helping” (the teacher chose her randomly) wasn’t doing shit to help she didn’t know either. I had to come to the front of the class and teach them how to send PowerPoint links on the TNI when there were 10 mins left to the period. They were testing my patience as their fellow classmate.

im a little embarrassed by how much I was like “aaaah!!! i need to push myself!!! i need to do my best creative work i need to put out a capstone cosplay thats competition worthy!! i need to keep up with all my amazing friends and make something incredible AAAAHHHH” over the past few weeks and how stressed it was making me, but something snapped yesterday and i thought “hey actually I dont need to do that. i can just take on a small project to keep me occupied and add a flair of fun into my routine.” and the rush of calm and relief that came over me has been like. comical in how dramatic it is.

the theme of the past year has been “challenging your compulsion to constantly excel and be exemplary in everything you do can provide personal relief as well as erode the ever-creeping status quo that everyone is supposed to be this godly pillar of excellence and anything less that is to be punished or chastised”

#its my civic duty to be cringe #but fr everytime i failed to be exceptional it used to make me feel like straight ass #but as time goes on i realize that everytime i am just OK it makes it easier for others to just be OK too #especially considering cosplay is not even my job its just a hobby/something for personal enrichment LMAO #im a terrible career physicist #like actually this isnt a bit on the topic of being mediocre im doing perfectly Mediocre in my program rn #and it is what it is

#random thoughts #fnaf #rotating him in my mind like an orb or perhapps a microwavable tv dinner #love the idea of a character who for some reason has him in their house and does regular maintenance on him #someone who worked for fazbear fright and fucking. stole him #au where the place wasn't burned down and actually opened and some kid started working there and fucking took his ass #springtrap in my head is like. mostly an animal. running on instinct and ancient programming. only rarely lucid #the kid who took him oh my god. what if someone who was the sibling of one of the five missing kids stole him #and like. they know he's the man behind the slaughter and can remember him from when he was alive #and they take him and keep him running as like a form of torture. because fazbear fright was gonna be shut down and the animatronic #was gonna be destroyed or smth and they were like 'no you son of a bitch not yet'#and they can sometimes see the ghosts of the children and employees who died and henry. but like they're not done #they cant let go. not yet.#cant let him go to the beyond because that would be too merciful for a son of a bitch like him #but springtrap cant really understand whats happening and mostly just sees Some Guy keeping him running so most of his feelings #are positive #when he's semi lucid he tries to kill them #when he recognizes them from before he kind of shuts down #the range is 'friend!!!' to 'i am going to fucking murder you' to 'how did you do in pe today'#like this guy mostly isn't william afton. idk who he is but he isn't him most of the time #i imagine the springtrap suit is a unique model so its hard to get replacement parts for him so most of him is custom at this point #idk what they do with the bones. probably leave them alone for the most part out of fear of him passing on if they got rid of them #he smells like dirt and mildew and restroom deoderizer probably #i imagine their thoughts on him are 'i recognize this mostly isnt the man who killed my sibling so i dont want him to suffer'#'but also i cant handle the idea of even a little of the man who killed my sibling being able to stop suffering'#like this is william's idea of hell. complete depersonalization #they make his stay tolerable. decent maintenance. idk what kind of enrichment he needs #being kept in a basement away from regular social interaction is probably hell for any children's animatronic #so he loves when they come down for maintenance. probably rarely at first and then more frequently as they adjust themself to his presence #idk how he feels about maintenance. probably very used to the feeling of having a dude inside of him lmaooo

Data and Reality by William Kent [from a rogue online PDF]

With a catchy title like that, how could I not want my own copy?? I love algorithms and data-structures but know very little about databases so I imagine it'll be an enlightening read. First saw it bound in white by @gender-trash and was very grateful that they were willing to share their typesetting of it with me (a new-to-me way of wrapping a PDF in LaTeX-- a pattern I'll certainly be using again!)

End papers gifted to me by @aetherseer, the cover's paste papers were made by @fanboundbooks. First time using the scrap purple leather, accidentally cased it in upside-down but thankfully I don't title so it doesn't really matter (except that 2nd photo is the back rather than the cover 😩)

I perhaps regret not including a bookmark, but oh well. It fits into the hand very well-- new "compact" imposition that I'll be posting soon (just a couple corner cases to correct). Final dimensions: 3.5" x 0.75" x 2.25" | 9cm x 2cm x 5.5cm | height x width x depth

#I've spent the past week organizing in the play's wake - sorting and laundering huge numbers of costumes #some to return to those they belong to and some to come home to my costume storage room which had become chaotic over the last few #months #so a complete spring cleaning for the storage room became part of my task list too. Now the play's been over for a week #and the emails are starting to come in from admin about next year. As some of you know I did a lot of discernment this semester #about what next year should look like and I have decided a mix of continuity is best. I won't be working for my 'main' schoolboard anymore #but I will continue to teach and direct for the one program in the city (the one I did the play for) and possibly with a new home school #enrichment program that may go ahead this year if there are sufficient numbers. Otherwise I am going to spend a semester #tutoring and running workshops f I can get it off the ground. Then we'll see.#Anyway - admin wants me to get new syllabi in to them within a month's time so my thoughts are all in that direction!#I get to teach 19th/20th century Canadian history to the middle schoolers and Late Antique/Medieval Church History to the high schoolers!#Also direct another play and do a humanities course centred around an epic in the spring (the last couple of years we've done Iliad and #Odyssey - they want Aeneid this year but I am trying to talk them into another option. The Aeneid is valuable but I am not sure it's the #time or place with this group of students. The result of all this is that I am spending far too much time doing Internet research for ideas #and then taking breaks on tumblr - which isn't good for my eyes or mental health. What with the play and end of term #I fear I've been out of the reading habit. I'm still hyperfixating on the Book of Romans so there's that at least #but I lost the novel I was in the middle of and am not feeling so motivating with out books. It's a proper reading slump! I need a kickstar #of sorts. Feel free to yell at me that I should pick up a book!
