"Fan of fiction podcasts" is not the funniest trait you can give a fiction podcast character but I do think it's in the top ten. Top twenty at the very least.

i think i need to write out my thoughts on the “us versus all of them” character dynamic that lives in my head 24/7.
Like the “fuck everyone but me and you, only us, i will forgive anything that you do, you know me inside and out and i will excuse anything if it means staying by your side” dynamic. Doesn’t matter if it’s platonic, familial, romantic— anything, as long as it’s THEM verses everyone else.
#i’ll be back with all thoughts soon once i organize them#examples include#of course#jon and martin#joel and ellie#arthur and john#sean and daniel#hmmmm#who else fits this#it’s very specific#but it’s my favorite dynamic and my entire book is based around it#it has to be high stakes too#not just ‘oh this is my best friend’#it has to be no i will let you claw my eyes out if it means you get to see#it has to be i will compromise any moral framework i ever operated under in order to keep you by me#it has to include a level of distrust for anyone outside of them#two people side by side#rosey rambles#OH 12 and clara are close to this#can i include my characters lol#Bunny and Leroy#b&k vauge posting

i love you, characters who have the explicit purpose of representing entire concepts in the narrative. i love you, characters bigger than themselves. i love you allegorical characters. i love you characters so wrapped in metaphor and the creator philosophizing through you it eclipses you as a "person," i love you characters who haunt the narrative long after you're gone. i love you characters who are doomed because the thing that they represent are doomed. i love you characters who are more lesson then character.
#character analysis#examples include#the brothers K and their respective deals#characters who die because they're “too good for this sinful earth” or to represent the death of innocence or whatever (too many examples)#jesus figures who preach forgiveness and good chirsitian values#and then die tragically (ex: Helen Burns from Jane Eyre is the first one who jumps to mind fsm)#characters who represent whole political views that are obviously just so the author can give their opinions through them#(Enjolras and Grantaire in Les Mis representing the headstrong young revolutionary and the cynic who “doesn't believe in anything”)#characters who explicitly represent or subvert specific archetypes (all 7 of the characters from If We Were Villians)#(ie Richard Stirling as the “tyrant” and James Farrow as the "(tragic) hero” and how those two roles play off of each other)#(especially in the specific context of the Shakespearen tragedy with those two)#two characters who parallel each other and represent “good” and “bad” Black/White Swan style#whatever#I'm sure other people can come up with other examples this is off the top of my head and barely coherent#my posts#originally i had a rant about javert (les mis) in here but although i find him fascinating as a CHARACTER i wanna punt him into the sun#so he doesn't get an i love you LMAOOOOOOOO

turns out there is a genre of Guy™️ that no matter the circumstance, i immediately fall madly in love with (not in a /r way [i think]) and it's:
So Committed To The Bit That No One Can Tell If They're Serious Or Not

As might have been apparent I've been reading a lot of a certain type of comic and I have noticed quite a few have included isekai without it (as far as I can tell) really being important for the plot.
Which has got me thinking that it's serving another purpose, maybe making the story somewhat self-insertable or "this could happen to you!" for the audience?

Coming onto Tumblr after being in the enstars fandom for a while but on other platforms was like. An instant feeling of relief. I may just be lucky with this but I have yet to see any of the enstars discourse I see basically daily on other sites on here. I feel like I'm jinxing myself a bit and that I will start seeing that but I sure hope not
#examples include#people saying ships between the 2nd and 3rd years are proships because of the age gap#people judging other people for liking a character that they personally find a bit annoying#and just general femstars discourse#i will never forget that time someone said ibara and hajime have like a 9 year age gap

People who are so nice and just a bit sassy for flavor who never get mad, only disappointed. Except they are also the kind of person that just fundamentally doesn't care about others unless they a) get attached to a person or b) find someone useful. Like, of course they're nice! Why shouldn't they be? Life is so much easier and more pleasant that way after all. But if someone they don't care about is being annoying, they have zero problems twisting things to make that person's life harder.
what charaxter archetypes do you keep writing into your characters that surely say nothing about your mental state. i keep making little guys who have trouble viewing themselves as a full person and instead just fixate on the role they expect others to expect them to play.
#i like fucked up people that everyone thinks are nice#examples include#minamino kurama#as well as#dan hiroki

i’ve said this before and i’ll say it again. why do some people feel the need to make everyone know that they dislike/hate something.
like if you don’t like something just simply,,,, don’t interact with it or talk about it because it may not be your thing but it’s someone else’s thing. and it sucks to see people hating on things that you like and that bring you joy.
(i also find it’s often things that young girls & women like that are loudly hated on by others but that’s a different conversation that we’ve been having for years and nothing is changing)
