Ive been slowly playing through In Stars and Time and Siffrin needs a dang minute and a hug man. So I'm drawing him getting a hug that he could get with only some possible razzing and/or scalding.

i think we dont talk about the crimson isles enough, they really managed to make that place feel so alive with the little societies they sat up and the problems they gave them

like. the piglins are just normal pigs, they're given the ability to communicate via spoken language and other things like being bipedal and all that by the sulfur. if they dont eat it daily they just.. revert back to being normal pigs. they aren't really piglins at all, but that's how they've built their lives so that's what they wanna be. and then chief scorn taxes the sulfur to death to the point that no one can afford it, and when you can't afford it that's it for you. unless you can get ahold of more somehow, you're back to being a mindless pig regardless of any life you had before (work, kids, etc)

the mages were just human, but gain magic ability through the sulfur. they've shown that eating too much of it can make you go kinda insane (the mage outlaw), but other than that it just makes them show higher intelligence. before the sulfur they were just your average farming society. when the volcanoes erupted, they lost everything. so they're constantly low on food, but they can keep up their great academic pursuits in the meantime. interestingly tho, some people cant use any magic, like maddox and aatrox

idk where im going with this, there's just a lot of neat stuff here. both of their societies are really deeply involved in sulfur, but if they go even a single day without it, everything they've worked centuries for crumbles. they'll either lose their sense of self or starve. so many little details here and there aaaaa

#i wanna talk about more little lore details but nothing is coming to mind rn #there's just other random things like the fact that magma cubes are banned in dragontail. the magma boss keeps growing endlessly #and it has to be cut weekly #the piglins see the lava fish as sacred and believe that's where their souls go when they die. they leave their bodies in the volcano #the mages (possibly maddox specifically) casually invented cellphones fkjhd #the bladesoul having previously been the prince of the fortress (who is the king) but #literally no one inhabits the place. except possibly elle. and a bunch of wither skeletons n stuff. just random mobs #chat #sb #not tagging as lore just bc i've talked about all of this in separate posts #but wanted to compile it into one bc i wanna Chat rn

i need to stop getting halfway through books and then deciding i kind of hate them but continuing to read them anyway (jk I almost never abandon a book) I've read a few absolutely stunning books this year, but I feel like, especially recently, so much of my reading has felt like a slog and I don't know if it's because because my external life is thin at the moment, I'm asking more from the books I'm reading, or if I'm just in a rut of picking up stuff I'm not really enjoying...

#The recent exception is contact Carl Sagan which is my fav book I've read this year thank u rhu #I'm reading Susan Sontag I etc right now it's. Meh. I just got it cuz it was 1.50 #Idk... Looking at my stats on how I rate books... my average overall this year is a 6.2/10 as opposed to a 6.8/10 last year?????#Idk #I need to go to the library this weekend #Cuz the only book to read I have out rn is the stand by stephan King that my coworker told me to read #And I really don't think i can do it. I read like the first 20 pgs and idk if I can do 1100 pages of that I'm sorry....#Idk.
