I think the horror potential of Obey Me is sooo overlooked.

Like sir, you're living with seven of the strongest demons in Hell. And yeah, it's easy to forget that sometimes but the stuff you can do with it?

For example, a lot of people forget that Leviathan is literally the Grand Admiral of Hell's Navy. He's been to wars and he has most definitely killed people. Every brother—one way or the other—has killed people. And the potential it has is so high it drives me insane when people don't even think about it.

Yes, the game is light hearted but come on, you live with demons, the stuff they've done (and still do) can and will be morally wrong, and God, do I love it.

The brothers are still big shots in Devildom. Right under Diavolo himself. I like to imagine that a lot of demons are scared of them. You can't look me in the eyes and tell me that a lowly demon can have an argument with Satan, for example, and not get their head blown off. Death doesn't really mean much, especially when it's a low ranked demon they could find a million of in the span of minutes. The brothers are old asf and they've seen the wars in Devildom, too. They most likely fought in them.

Now you may have the argument of "But Mammon constantly gets kicked out of casinos, he gets beaten blah blah" and to that I say; He's Mammon. No matter how pathetic he may seem he's still the second eldest. And if you ask me, one of the most emotionally intelligent and mature ones among the brothers. The reason why Mammon is so often walked over is because he doesn't show his strenght. He has the emotional capability and general strenght to not lose his cool even if he's getting insulted by a low-life who he could obliterate in a second.

But back on track, as I was saying, I believe that all of the brothers have killed people, justified or not, and I just need more fics where they're horrifying demons. Batshit insane. A flick of the wrist and blood's everywhere. The angst you could pull off with it makes my mouth water. Like, just imagine accidentally witnessing one of the brothers killing someone and act like it's nothing. THE POTENTIALLL OH LOOOORDDDDDDD

oough well my least favorite things about belphie are more a me problem LMAO i downloaded the first obey me app at launch and i got that absolutely delectable first experience before they decided they valued pace and ambiguity over most other things 😭 so of course i always feel like there was so much emotional bandwidth they could have taken advantage of even if just in card stories if not in main story that they totally missed out on. you will hear me agonize over this til the cows come home.

he also over time has had a few writing inconsistencies but i can roll with them arguably simply by noting that he's so moody lmfaoooo

i mean i don't have receipts but if you trust i'm insane enough to remember these things with any reliability, a few examples of this are there's one time where he says he's not ticklish, and later on a time where he is... and one where he takes a coffee black, and another where it's said he (and i think a brother of his) says he always takes it loaded with cream and sugar. once he's a cat person, another says he likes dogs...

again fjdjf i could totally believe he actually says and/or does perform all these inconsistencies because he changes his mind on a dime, he's so fickle and it is the funniest thing- one of the things i really like about him. he's contrarian to a point that also has a ton of potential LMAO but i'm not sure it was intentionally written that way so much as he wasn't focused on or kept track of in this information and so inconsistencies like this came up. largely i say this because sometimes through the past, the team has noted people noticing these things and gone back to retroactively adjust them for characters like mammon, levi, etc....

um. i had this turning into a whole academic paper on my opinions about what my favorite things about belphie were and it's already getting so long LMFAO my favorite things are his demon form traits, his halloween costume and his razor sharp wit. okay 😂 i'm gonna spare you the massive kamehameha, the veritable pepe sylvia moment of how totally normally i really like belphie. but his killer outfits and smug demeanour do a fair amount of footwork.

the thing about having just started demon slayer so late. and knowing the little things i do about it back from when i thought i'd never get past the first three episodes. is that now that i'm in a Good Place Mentally to be watching it and enjoying it, i also want to go searching through the tag.

but now spoilers matter. and almost everything is a spoiler LMFAO i will have to chug through so i can look at fanart with peace of mind 😭

in a setting that's already sort of established that's a little convoluted but fun (cringe but free) i like to imagine scorp being in hoenn and ending up as part of team aqua, because they also have the kind of energy that he'd really vibe with lmfaooo

i like to think he's the sort to get into a plot where he's an antagonist, of course, to a Good Guy or something of some kind, because he thinks pokemon should be treated better and their homes should be respected. casual dudebro ecoterrorism and all that

but ends up being a help to the protagonist when he sees the team leaders are fucking with genuinely cataclysmic forces they do NOT understand. even though he feels loyalty to team aqua for taking him and his team in and giving them things to do, he does have the foresight to see maybe forever storms and flooding will not be good for uhh. anyone hardly pokemon or not

and it gets perilous and emotional at the apex of course. him choosing to take things seriously and actually risk sacrificing things that are important to him, his place and his friends and his prestige in team aqua that he's worked really hard to rank up to for the sake of some stupid idiot who actually might have what it takes to stop the world from being torn apart by PHYSICAL EMBODIMENTS OF THE FORCES OF NATURE???? even if all he can do is buy them some time and pray fjsjf

but that's all this and that. nonsense. a plot? get that out of my face.

you need to know he found his croagunk sad and dehydrated in an overnight illegal pop-up shop for "exotic pets." he only had enough money for croagunk and croagunk only came home with him because they were trying to get rid of their stock quick and easy and scorp looked stupid enough to buy a sick hard to take care of frog. (correct)

he took that little thing home and soaked all its crusty dead skin off and fed it and hydrated it and rubbed its little back and promised they'd be friends forever and by god he meant it. croagunk gets to be silly and playful and talk whenever he wants and eat and get spritzed with a misting bottle and all he has to do is ask.

and scorp is never stupid enough to say where he got his croagunk from to decent people LMAO if you're Really Good Friends with him he may give the real origin story. but mostly he tells people he traded with someone from sinnoh for him. yeah a gulpin or whatever it's not a big deal. yes his frog is really cool. tell it to his frog he already knows.
