A little sketch I've been meaning to take out of my sketchbook of my main Elden Ring alt (I have so many send help), Cleanrot Blade ! She doesnt have a name yet haha. I haven't gotten her all figured out, but so far I think she's one of the Cleanrot Knights that survived the war in Caelid. While Finlay took charge of transporting Malenia back to the Haligtree, Cleanrot Blade went out in search of information on how to help their Lady with the rot and the blooming etc etc... Out there she learned about the Outer God of Rot and about the Blue Dancer (making the link with Malenia's old blademaster too probably). From there she came back to the Lands Between and has to make her way to the Haligtree (I'm still in the process of it in game).

A Christmas Carol (1984)
Tumblr media
There are many adaptations of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol to choose from for your Holiday Christmas marathon. Many consider this 1984 version by Clive Donner the one to go with. If you ask me, no Christmas season is complete without viewing either Alastair Sim or George C. Scott as Ebenezer Scrooge.
Ebenezer Scrooge (Scott) is a bitter miser who considers the ideals and spirit of Christmas pure humbug. He hesitates to give his underpaid assistant Bob Cratchit (David Warner) the day off and scoffs at his nephew Fred (Roger Rees) when he suggests a holiday dinner. One cold Christmas Eve, the ghost of Scrooge's former partner Jacob Marley (Frank Finlay) appears to him with a warning "You will soon be visited by three spirits, heed their counsel and change your ways or risk an eternity of suffering."
Though originally made for television, this is a top-notch production. The locations/sets transport you to 1843 London like a Ghost of Christmas Past and the costumes all look authentic. The stage is set and George C. Scott is perfect for his role. One look at the actor and you can practically see every time he's rolled his eyes at the concept of charity. He delivers the over-the-top dialogue like it was written for him but Scott also grounds the story in reality. It makes the drama that follows that much more powerful. Scrooge is a miserable, horrible person… but he’s still a person. His journey through the many Christmases the ghosts take him through rouses intense emotions.
So much of what makes this story endure is the message. Christmas is a joyous time, but it can be scary under certain lights. That uniformly white blanket over everything, the bare branches swaying in the frigid wind, the shortening days, the cold… the idea of ghosts emerging from the darkness just fits. These fears are juxtaposed by this renewed hope of salvation, the explosion of generosity and the potential for miracles. A Christmas Carol taps into all of those sentiments. There are talks of gifts but no commercialism. It’s about the importance of relationships with loved ones and what you must do to keep them close to you. That's not to say any adaptation is a hit; the cast and the production's dedication make this a special rendition of the timeless story.
There’s only one flaw with the film: the portrayal of the Spirit of Christmas Past by Angela Pleasence. It isn’t her performance; it’s that unless you know what the movie is trying to do, she'll leave you scratching your head. She’s supposed to be candle-like: a light that could easily be put out (which is why we see Scrooge extinguish her with his cap). You can't tell unless you already know. Otherwise, everything you want to see in this story is there. The comedy of a miser so cheap he won’t even spend money to keep himself comfortable, the drama over lost love and seeing a heart grow cold, the warmth of redemption and the horror of the ghosts. As a child, I distinctly remember seeing the Ghost of Christmas Present (Edward Woodward) showing off Scrooge’s “children” to him and finding it terrifying.
It’s easy to become bitter around Christmas. Even if you don’t feel like the true meaning of the holiday has eroded, there’s so much pressure and so many high expectations that are rarely met. 1984's A Christmas Carol is the perfect remedy for any bitter sentiments. Whether you see yourself as Ebenezer Scrooge and need to be shown the error of your ways or you’re his nephew and need your faith in others renewed, this is the movie for you. Its final scene always brings tears to my eyes. (December 14, 2020)

A Christmas Carol (1984)
My rating: 6/10
They've made some rather unnecessary changes to the story (chief among them an introduction to Tiny Tim, who is played by a frankly awful child actor and should've been featured as little as possible), but Scott's performance is very, very good indeed - possibly the best performance of this particular character I've ever seen - and elevates the whole thing a lot.

Something was wrong.
Cal Finlay had snapped out of his othered state at the end of the steel cage match because of it. While his older brother David, the man who had led the War Dogs into this battle against the United Empire, celebrated there was something Cal had noticed in one of the other members of the team. It wasn't his tag team partner Clak who laid against the ropes, no that too cool for school attitude was just how he acted from time to time. It wasn't Gabe, whose wicked and triumphant grin couldn't match the madness radiating from his eyes.
No, it was Delaney Cullen and the way he held his hand to the back of his neck that worried Cal.
Delaney was the member of the team that Cal found himself thinking of the most on most days. Maybe it was because of how handsome Cal found him. Delaney was a strapping young man whose pectorals were almost as perfect as his hair and mustache. Maybe it was the fact that Delany seemed to care about him just as much as Cal cared about Delaney. Questions like 𝘩𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑛 or 𝘩𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑡𝑎𝑘𝑒𝑛 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑚𝑒𝑑𝑠 were more common from Delaney than even his own tag team partner.
"You okay?" Cal's thick Irish brogue was always stronger when he was under stress, and the current situation was certainly stressful. When Delaney didn't answer him immediately, Cal reached out a bloodied hand to clasp to Delaney's shoulder, "Delly boy?"
Delaney's wince let Cal know that something was wrong, severely wrong.
"Don't worry, lad," Delaney brushed him off quickly, wrapping his free arm around Cal's waist. There was a pain in his eyes that let Cal know that he needed to worry, but before he could say anything, Delaney pulled him in close and pressed a kiss to Cal's lips, "Told myself if we won, I'd do that."
Clark whooped from the corner, using the ring ropes to pull himself to his feet, "It's about damn time you two!"
"Oh shut up," Delaney rolled his eyes with a soft chuckle.
Clark moved to wrap an arm around both Cal and Delaney's shoulders, also noticing as Delaney winced at the touch to his neck. He side-eyed Cal, "He wince when you..."
"Yeah," Cal confirmed with a solid nod, "We gotta get him to the medic."
"Just let me celebrate with the team," Delaney pleaded as he looked between the two. He pulled away from Clark, though he still held Cal's hand firmly, "Please."
Though Cal didn't like to see Delaney in pain, he gave a nod. After all, wasn't this what they wanted? It had been a bloody night, but it had been a 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒇𝒖𝒍 night. The United Empire had fallen to their power. The War Dogs were a true united front as they moved up the entrance ramp as one.
He and Delaney were a united front.

Also you talked about how strange mogh kidnapping miquella is:
This is just my theory but the way I see it miquella charms mogh to gain a powerful follower. He might even serve as a symbol for other omens to rally. I don't think the kidnapping and the blood cult was the part of the plan at all. Mogh came up with that after coming into contact with the formless mother. To me it seems like the best explanation, no way miquella wanted to be separated from the haligtree the whole point of that was so he could break his curse but during the battle of aeonia while malenia was away mogh under the influence of an outer god takes miquella and ruins his plans. Evrything miquella does is shadow of the erdtree is then a final desperate attempt to succeed and return to haligtree as a god.
I prefer this theory way more that the ones that say Miquella wanted to be kidnapped.
The blood cult is 100% a Mohg thing Miquella probably had no had in that, and honestly if we take into consideration the way that Miqs charm works it's plausible to say the version of Mohg that we kill is like one of those dogs that has to be put on sedatives before they go to the vet/groomers. I would argue that Mohg was actually way worse and Miqs charm made him arguably tamer. But I don't think Miq using Mohg to rally the Omens is true because weirdly enough both at the Haligtree and the Mohgwyn Palace there is not a single Omen to be seen anywhere.
But here's the thing with the Kidnapping: The kidnapping was always up to furious debate within the community, and my go-to belief was that Mohg snatched Miquella while Malenia was away during the Shattering; but now with Freyjas account that Miquella actually appeared after the Battle of Aeonia to provide aid, this ROYALLY FUCKS the timeline of the kidnapping.
So then the DLC is trying to convince us that Miquella actually embedded himself into the Haligtree after Malenia peaced out with Scarlet Rot Itis and then was to just immediately be kidnapped by Mohg.... What the fuck is all of this???? LITERALLY WHAT WAS EVEN THE POINT OF EMBEDDING HIMSELF INTO THE HALIGTREE????
And honestly gets worse tho, because hell, with what they're implying apparently Miq went with Malenia to the Battle and returned to the Haligtree with her unconscious ass being carried by Finlay(WHICH MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE)
I just
Tumblr media
OH AND MIQUELLA COULD APPARENTLY JUST CURE FREYJAS SCARLET ROT WHEN THE UNALLOYED NEEDLE WHICH WAS QUOTED AS NOT BEING A CURE FOR THE INCURABLE SCARLET ROT, COULD NOT CURE MILLICIENT AND IT COULDNT EVEN CURE MALENIA, AND YET MIQUELLA CAN CONTRADICTALLY C U R E F R E Y J A
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF UNALLOYED GOLD AT THIS POINT????
