the other thing with Squares and Marle is I remember people trying desperately to slot them into a neat abuser/victim dynamic by forcing them into two framings: Marle as this neglectful guardian and Squares as her powerless little brother, OR Squares as a horrible abuser and manipulator and Marle as his helpless victim because she didn’t know any better
and it is just insane to me that in a game whose stories are like generally easy to digest that people really wanted their relationship to be clear cut when they are SIBLINGS WHO ONLY JUST RECENTLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO ACTUALLY BE PEOPLE? because both of them only recently gained consciousness/personalities! in the context of the game!
they’re siblings that love and care for each other but they don’t know how to navigate that because they aren’t human?  How is Marle supposed to know how to be a “good friend” when all she’s done is observe people? How is Squares supposed to know what’s “right” when Marle basically made him on a whim because she was lonely and didn’t understand the scale of her powers? They’re complicated characters but the baseline is that they love and care for each other, but their inexperience as deities AND as actual people led to them hurting each other in ways they never intended

Groundbreaking Union: Spanish Artist Alicia Framis to Wed AI-Generated Hologram in World-First Ceremony
In an unprecedented move, acclaimed Spanish performing artist Alicia Framis is preparing to tie the knot with a hologram created by artificial intelligence (AI). Yes, you read that correctly! Ms. Framis is poised to become the first woman ever to marry an AI-generated hologram, a digital entity crafted through holographic technology and machine learning. The unique ceremony is scheduled to take place later this year at a museum in Rotterdam, as reported by Euronews.
Tumblr media
Framis has named her prospective holographic spouse AILex, describing him as a “middle-aged male hologram with slightly complex logistics.” This unconventional marriage is not rooted in romantic inclinations but is a pivotal aspect of Framis’ latest artistic endeavor, the ‘Hybrid Couple’ project. Through this initiative, she aims to explore the boundaries of love, intimacy, and identity in the era of AI.
In a statement on her website, Framis expressed her motivation, stating, “AI is still closely linked to science and lacks poetry, art, and warmth.” She envisions an artistic documentary that delves into various aspects, encompassing drawings, interviews with women, sketches exploring bodies, arms, romantic dreams, and the daily life of her holographic partner.
Framis is actively involved in designing her wedding dress and selecting the attire for attendees at the unique ceremony, slated for this summer on the roof of the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam.
Through her Instagram account, Framis shares videos and photographs featuring herself and AILex. She believes that love and relationships with holograms and robots are an inevitable reality, presenting these entities as companions capable of expressing empathy. According to Framis, this new form of companionship can be particularly beneficial for individuals seeking solace, citing a personal example of a widow finding comfort in AI and human companionship.
Framis foresees a new era of love emerging, where humans will form relationships with holograms, avatars, and robots. Drawing an analogy to language learning platforms, she predicts that practicing relationships with these entities will become a norm. Whether welcomed or not, Framis believes this trend marks the dawn of a new generation of love, where unconventional unions are explored and accepted.

LORE DROP: THE PATRON OF TRAVEL AND DEATH
StormClan is a Clan descended from all five lake Clans, as well as some of their many non-Clan neighbors. While the names of those first warriors who chose to leave their homes by the lake are lost to the whims of history and the strain of travel, StormClan still teaches and remembers the tale of a band of brave and righteous cats who, amidst a dire crisis, banded together across borders and put their principles and their legacies before the fraught politics of their time. The travelers saw many places together, loved, lost, and in time founded a Clan of their own over the course of their long journey. They named it for the way a rolling storm evokes the names of all five of their old Clans - the rumble of thunder; the shadow of heavy clouds; the howling winds; the rains which draw rivers past their banks; their domination of the very sky.
And like its namesake, StormClan traveled, even after establishing itself as a Clan, until the day a prophecy called them north - to Tallrock. Petalstar was the cat who led them there, and now he is worshiped as the patron of travel and sometimes death, a spirit whose blessings guide one safely to their journey's end.
In Petalpelt's time, an ending to StormClan's travels was desperately needed, despite the unrest this idea stirred among the ranks. The Clan had grown tremendously since its founding, both in number and in its capabilities - advancements in medicine and technology meant StormClan cats were living longer, growing older, having and raising more kits. To force these cats and their kin to choose between risking their lives for their Clan and leaving their families and friends for good was no choice at all, fundamentally opposed to StormClan's central ideal that no cat should suffer alone.
A dying elder imparted a prophecy to the Clan in this uncertain time: In mountain and meadow, the storm will fall.
Fear surged through the Clan like lightning; the consensus was that settling would destroy the Clan. So their journey continued, and StormClan began to fracture along the way. Petalpelt's appointment as a deputy was with this strain in mind, a gentle deputy to guide and comfort a troubled Clan. He was an excellent mediator, albeit a bit passive. His work continued into his leadership, his life a relentless slog through departing after departing as StormClan's travails seemed to only intensify the longer they continued to wander.
By the time that Tallrock was visible in the distance, StormClan was desperate for a reprieve. Petalstar, acting on a sliver of hope and curiosity, guided his Clan to the mountain where, sure enough, they found meadows and moors coloring the landscape all around it. And, more importantly, they found the Fallen. The last part of the prophecy clicked into place in Petalstar's mind; this was where StormClan was meant to be, peacefully collaborating with the Fallen in the Tallrock territories, learning to live as they did. So StormClan fell, in a way, and recovered with the help of the Fallen.
Under Petalstar, life was good for StormClan. It was a time of learning and innovation, with cats from both groups moving freely together throughout the Tallrock territories; StormClan cats who needed it could always find a home with the Fallen, the Fallen with StormClan. The peace, however, was not to last. As StormClan became comfortable with its new lifestyle and more confident as inhabitants of Tallrock, some cats' anxieties about the Fallen and their unfamiliar traditions hardened into distrust and hate. When the first half-Clan litter was born and their Fallen Ba insisted that they be raised by their kindred across the border, these whispered tensions exploded into the forefront of Clan politics. After the kits and their parents moved to kindred territory, there were schemes and secret meetings, and a plot was enacted. A warrior orchestrated a false abduction, stealing full-blooded StormClan kittens from their nest and framing the Fallen for the act.
It didn't work. Petalstar dishonored the culprit with the name Adder once they were caught and the kittens safely returned, and he gave them an impossible choice of their own as punishment: stay in StormClan and live the rest of their days as a prisoner or live in exile - suffer alone. Adder chose the latter.
In some ways, however, Adder's actions - the actions of their co-conspirators, the interests of their ideology, for Adder was only a symptom of StormClan's festering hate - worked exactly as they were meant to. Distrust took StormClan like a plague, as warriors found themselves doubting everyone, their neighbors, their Clanmates. The Clan was a powder keg ready to blow, and it was only a matter of time until another extreme act - the disappearance of the half-Clan kittens - ignited it. StormClan warriors escalated with the Fallen, and the Tallrock territories descended into war.
This is what tarnished Petalstar's legacy and imparted to him the domain of death. He was a leader who had spent his entire life working for peace; he was not prepared to protect his Clan through conflict at this scale. While he agonized and deliberated over the least costly choices for both sides, cats suffered and died. More combat patrols meant fewer hunting and gathering patrols, and as StormClan's numbers dropped, the survivors began to starve, including Petalstar himself. By the end of his life, most of the Clan - Rimestar most of all - believed that he had fulfilled the prophecy of his youth by leading his Clan into the grave.
Posthumously, Petalstar is a more sympathetic character in StormClan's stories. He was an excellent navigator, and for as gruesome as the war with the Fallen became, he did guide them to their current home. Plenty of cats in more recent generations agree that the cost of the Tallrock war was not entirely Petalstar's fault, though his association with death as a patron persists all the same. Today most cats will pray for his gentle deliverance in times of hardship, for his guidance on long journeys, and for a kinder end when death looms. Many believe that he personally guides the sick and hungry to StarClan when it's their time, either as an atonement for his mistake or as a comrade to those facing the same departure that he did. He, too, is why StormClan cats will place flower blooms or scatter petals over their dead before burial, to guide the departed into his embrace.

BLEACH: The Thousand Year Blood War Ep 15 Reactions and Thoughts
Overall reaction:
Tumblr media
I'm late with my thoughts for this one, but I thought better to write them down now before the new episode comes out.
There's a lot to love in this one. We've got battles, we've got drama, and we've got a lot of heartbreak [if you're a Hitsugaya fan].
Highlights:
The Quincy meeting: of course, I thought of Aizen's meeting with the Espada, but this was still a good scene. I loved seeing the small glimpses of dynamics here, and Jugram's seiyu did a fantastic job in giving him presence charisma throughout the episode. Jushiro's scene: oh man, this is a sad one (when you have hindsight). I love the framing and colouring in this scene: Jugram confronts Shunsui and Nanao: damn, this scene was surprisingly atmospheric and tense! Loved this exchange, it really built up the tension for all the battles that were about to go down. Mayuri the Christmas tree: I had to squint whenever he came on. Good lord the animation team did a fantastic job with this one.
Tumblr media
Omaeda and his sister, and Sui Feng vs BG9: yeah, I knew this one was going to hit me in the feels. I remember being shocked the first time I read this scene because I've never been a big Omaeda fan, and then these scenes happens and I feel for him and his sister. The sight with Sui Feng was great too, I loved the animation of her flash step and her actions all looked epic!
Tumblr media
The additional Ichigo content: I'm loving this added content for Ichigo. It's also a chance to develope Ichbe too, because for all the hype Kubo made around Zero Division, it's leader didn't get much in before his confrontation with Yhwach. I'm looking forward to seeing where this all leads, but I have a theory which I'll bring up down below. Hitsugaya and Rangiku vs Bazz B: the highlight of all highlights this week! One of the fights I've been looking forward to seeing animated. So, so , so many great moments throughout, and just look at this amazing animation,it brought everything from the panels to life as I imagined it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, seeing Toshiro and Rangiku work together is the best part of this whole fight, and I am so happy with how it was adapted here. This is why I love this brotp: they have each other's backs, work together to strengthen each other, and can have a good balance of funny and serious moments. And oh my gosh, that little smile! For all of the sadness that's about to come for them, just seeing these two have a moment of victory together was heart warming.
Tumblr media
And then...and then...When Bazz B cut through Toshiro the first time, oh man did my heart drop. I knew it was coming, of course, but it's still sad to see. I loved seeing that Toshiro sealed his wound with ice, it confirms a headcanon I've used in my fic for years! I mean, it was more or less shown in his fight against Grimmjow's fraccion, but it was so cool to see it being used here. Overall, this was a great adaption of this fight. Animation is amazing as always, the voice acting was top notch as always, and it's just great to see Toshiro and Rangiku work together.
On to the things I wanted to elaborate on. My main theory for Ichibe's 'training' is Ichigo will find out the history of the Soul King (ie how the being came to be what they are, the first war Shinigami vs Quincy war, etc) which would explain the blury flashback images we got in the trailer. Also, I can't help but wonder if Ichibe is preparing Ichigo to become the next Soul King, keeping in line with Shunsui's original plan B for Ichigo.
My only pit pick for this episode, and it's a personal preference, but I wasn't a fan of how they adapted Toshiro getting cut by Bazz B. In the manga, you see the shock Toshiro goes into and the way it's framed is super dramatic. Here, it's still sad for Hitsugaya fans, but it didn't have the same a gut punch as the manga version does. Maybe it's because I knew it was coming, but I don't know, I wish they'd stuck more to the manga for this moment in terms of framing and capturing the drama.
Also, I am NOT ready for next week. There's a good chance we're going to get to see Shinji (and Momo, COME ON!!) but also...Toshiro seeing Rangiku dying. It's gonna be a heartbreaker ;_;

i watched that newest video by that guy super eye patch wolf about the blatant scam business that is selling courses on “how to succeed on youtube” and i have some serious problems with the framing of nearly everything and the lengths it goes to portray people infested with the embarrassing illness of being obsessed with metrics and numbers as pure victims of youtube’s apparent mind control abilities. in order to believe this, you would have to accept that people who go through great lengths to willingly engage with a career that they chose for themselves and maintain unilateral control over are completely helpless. i copy pasted most of this from a forum post right after i watched it lol but ill edit it into a more coherent and cohesive set of thoughts. 1. first of all, the people buying these youtube courses are suckers with money to (apparently) burn falling for a very blatant “get rich quick” scheme with the belief that they can “jump the line” straight into fame and fortune with little effort on their part. these motives should be mocked, mercilessly, without restraint or pity. there is quite literally no other reason to invest in something so blatantly and obviously designed to siphon money from your wallet unless you are both stupid and desperate for attention.
either way, if you spend money you dont have on this crap it's on you lol. its like claiming you got taken advantage of by the guy who sold you the brooklyn bridge. no shit, idiot.
it was suggested that the people buying these programs are “victims of capitalism” and i am confident that this does not excuses their behavior. we all are! the vast majority of us recognize that paying people so you can skip to the good parts of working in entertainment is pathetic, at best. pathological at worst.
additionally, i should add for context that i am a native from nevada, the state in the union with state-wide legalized gambling. one thing you will notice about nevada is, despite being named the #1 state of gambling addicts by the most whack study i have ever seen in my life (it rates states by “casino friendliness”. that’s literally the point of nevada?! anyway), i think you would be very hard pressed to find a local who gambles because that’s for the stupid tourists to blow money on to support us. i do not have a lot of sympathy for the people who throw money away on something that famously “always wins”.
 2. the youtube creators whining about how hard it is to look at analytics pages and how bad it makes them feel should be embarrassed of themselves. if looking at the data legitimately upsets you and has a death grip on your life (like the guy who said his wife hated how much he checked it and it was causing problems) then there are no shortage of extensions and tools to block pages or sections of pages in order to prevent yourself from staring into the abyss.
every artist who was on deviantart has already had this obsession with numbers long knocked out of them and the remaining stragglers who still cling to metrics and likes as proof of their worthiness are viewed as fucked up fame-obsessed weirdos. as they should be. i cannot think of a single other artistic pursuit that has people talk so openly about how data poisoned they are and have it treated like its a perfectly acceptable or legitimate means of measurement. 3. everyone gets less return on projects they worked hardest on. everyone enjoys the lowest-brow entertainment over effort and education. this is not a problem that is unique to youtube creators. visual artists have been bitching about this since time immemorial. it is a frequent, tacky talking point to complain about how your doodles get more likes than the work you labor over. there have been at least 10000000 posts about this subject. the solution is so simply get the hell over it lol wtf. the rest of us manage to cope so come learn from the best of the best.
everyone is going to become irrelevant. this is the reality of the entertainment business. framing it as a fail state rather than an inevitability would eliminate a lot of anxiety about having to be perfect and constantly keep to a schedule and maybe, just maybe, discourage people from attempting to make this dumb shit their fucking job. making your money via ad revenue and sponsorships should be considered a deeply immoral way to make money in the first place but: thats a whole other can of worms.
the k-pop guy who said he would cry if he couldnt do youtube for a living needs to hang it up right this second bc that's such a fucked up way to waste your life lol. 8 years of doing shit he hates just to see the number go up in the miserable hope that some day this activity that he despises doing will be lucrative. just keep it as a hobby wtf. what could he possibly be getting out of this? like, what is his end goal? after he makes youtube, which he hates doing, his full time job....then what?
i dont get it. i dont understand coddling these poorly thought out impulses like they're natural or that youtube is a real or viable career for anyone. i think no one should be talking about entertainment, right now at this moment, with any kind of certainty for what the future might hold. [scary voice] the truth is that it could and likely will come all falling down at any moment. and its possible that there is literally nothing you can do about it. 4. its luck. the secret ingredient to success is luck. you can alter your chances (specifically by being rich and/or attractive), you can do everything you’re supposed to do when it comes to self-promotion, editing, presentation, and information. but in the end its still almost entirely based on luck. he does say this but i was in the middle of my post when he said it lol
this doesn’t mean that no one but the most shining stars become household names. it means that you should not treat a video sharing site as anything more than a way to share information or entertainment with people and expect very little. you’ll either be pleasantly surprised or youll explode and die. who knows. 5. him attributing jake paul and that insane lady who made her kid cry for a youtube thumbnail to a desire for higher views was insane lol. they're sociopaths dude. come on. they are not motivated purely by wanting to see a number go up, the level of deluded self-interest that one needs festering in their body to abuse their child for money or take financial advantage of a stranger’s suicide is extraordinarily abnormal human behavior and does not even remotely compare to people who have just caught the madness after clicking on the analytics page. you have to be able to differentiate between a person who is pathologically ruthless to the point of being dangerous and losers.
the last section where he tries to impart to you what its like to blow up is so unrelatable lol and not just bc im ms sour grapes and im just jealous, which is usually the go-to defense people whip out when you try to criticize the way people interact with their fame, but rather the expectation that other people, strangers would celebrate your financial success is weird. additionally, there are two old maxims that fit the problem of attracting a group of hatewatchers:
if you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one.
and
if you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen!!!! computer send post thank you

“Definition. Clay is an earthy mineral substance composed largely of aluminum hydrosilicate. Its most important property is that, mixed with water, it provides a more or less plastic paste, capable of being worked by various procedures. When it dries, it acquires a certain cohesion and decreases in volume, and due to the action of a high temperature, it loses its water of constitution, contracts, hardens and remains practically unalterable. These characteristics made it one of the first materials that man worked on, and constitutes the basis of all ceramic industries.”
From: “The curative power of clay: health and natural beauty with an ancient technique available to everyone: its amazing properties, uses and therapeutic and cosmetic indications” by Framis, Cote; 2007

A house that is so scary
One of the origins of this EPIC JOURNEY of game development I've been on was one day in Discord with a friend. A popular low poly horror game was in a video and I said something like, "I bet I could flip some assets and make a game just like this in a few months and even make it scarier". Theres a lot wrong with that statement. There are other reasons I started this but they're not really relevant to this story.
So after watching a 5 hour tutorial about Unreal I was ready to start work on this game. First, I thought, I should just make a layout for a house. I didn't know what to name the project so I just wrote "Scary House". Thus the Scary House franchise was born.
You can probably guess what happened to that very first project. First, Scary House, then Scary House 2, 3, 4, 5 a reboot and so on. Eventually I started branching out and I discovered GBStudio and I thought maybe this is where I should start.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scary Pocket. I spent about a day making the bottom floor of a house and scripting an enemy to pursue and lunge at my player character. The player character had a short dash they could use to evade and it was actually pretty fun. But being on GBStudio and having like 100 events in one scene it was a little framy at times and had collision issues. Then I discovered GameMaker.
Tumblr media
Scary Pocket Remastered. I spent a day again making the bottom floor of that house and programming my AI. Its amazing it took me like 4 hours in GBStudio with events and it took me like 4 hours in GameMaker with code. The difference was 100 events vs 15 lines of code. This got me really interested in coding and I would split my time between learning coding concepts and game dev. Since then I haven't really messed with the Scary House property. I had (still have) an idea of what I want to do with it in 2D but pretty much shelved it. Everything game dev adjacent I'd done for a while was just basic learning. Learning ins and outs of Godot, trying out Unity (C# is now my target programming language outside of game dev).
After doing a few tutorials and learning code basics for a few weeks I felt pretty confident and decided to join 'My First Game Jam' (thats the name of the jam) and try to produce something. The theme is 'Growth' and I had a few ideas for this. One was in RPG maker using the MV3D plugin. It would start with a kid eating his vegetables and growing to titanic size and rampaging through his town mostly on rails and scripted events where people try to stop him and the fight options were just "Slap" "Squash" etc and you would just one-shot everything and eventually the police show up and shoot him (I'm bad at endings). One was reviving 2D Scary House and replacing the lunge with an expanding thing and it looked as stupid as it sounds.
Here is a link to the Game Jam if you're interested. Its aimed at beginner developers. You're even allowed to do a tutorial for it. Its meant to give people with an interest in game dev that push they might need to get started.
That pretty much brings us to today. I decided to mess with creating maps in 3D with TrenchBroom and importing them into Godot 4. I hadn't actually built anything in 3D since those early Unreal days.
So I guess I should just present the project I'm working on now for the jam. Its going to be a low poly/3D Pixel horror game. I believe this will take on the title 'Scary House'. The house has 3 floors, the gameplay is find a key open a door to the stairs, very simple; it is my first 3D game after all. I'm aiming for about 5 minutes of gameplay and 2 endings. I want to tell a small little short story primarily with symbolism.
I'm excited to see how this project turns out. I have 2 weeks to finish it but every time I think about an entire job description worth of work I need to do it makes my head spin. Hopefully I will get there.
This is the second floor. Everything is a little big. Its meant to make you feel small.
Tumblr media
This is the starting floor ft my monster man stuck on a table.
Tumblr media
I'm on the fence about this purple tint. I kinda like it but I just started experimenting with that earlier today.
Tumblr media
I've learned how to do a lot of things by first doing them wrong. May write something about that someday.
A SCARY ROOM TOO?
Tumblr media
