Ever since Crystalized came out, there's been this theory circulating that the reason the Overlord somehow managed to manifest crystal power seemingly out of nowhere and with no explanation (at least, none that I can find/remember), is because his fight with Zane affected his power in some way.
The main evidence for this is that:
Zane was the last person to fight the Overlord
Ice is technically a crystalline structure, depending on how it's formed, and Zane is the master of ice
When Harumi was first resurrected, she found the Overlord's spirit imbued into a purple crystal
As evidenced by past seasons, the Overlord's power seems to be influenced by his circumstances and environment in the wake of his last defeat. During Rebooted, a tech center was built over his resting place, and he ended up taking on the abilities and limitations of a computer virus. And in this case, the theory suggests that the Overlord's power was then influenced again by all the ice surrounding him as Zane destroyed both of their physical forms.
This does, to some extent, seem to fall in line with everything else we know about the Overlord. The Overlord is a being of shadow and darkness, and the shape of a shadow will always be influenced by the light around it. (And if we want to get into the theory that the Overlord was created as a result of the FSM trying to purge the oni blood from his veins, then you could even bring up the fact that the oni are shapeshifters sooo).
Now, I'll be the first to admit that this theory is ultimately pretty circumstantial, and there's nothing in canon to point to it being explicitly true. BUT, the cool thing about this theory is that it does also retroactively solve another big fandom mystery: that is, it explains how Zane survived his fight with the Overlord.
Let me explain.
When Zane came back to life after his fight with the Digital Overlord, while it was never outright explained how he did so, it was implied that he came back the same way the Overlord had: by spiritually manifesting within the systems at Borg Tower - specifically, the Digiverse. But that doesn't really answer the question, does it?
Like, the Overlord coming back as a spiritual manifestation makes sense. He's a regenerative being, an immortal abstraction of all the evil in the world. And Zane, as far as we know, is very much not that. So what could have happened to cause Zane, a nindroid, to end up being resurrected in the same way as the god of darkness? Why did he come back to life, instead of passing onto the afterlife? Even Lloyd, the special-est boy in all Ninjago, made a quick visit to the Departed Realm and only came back because the FSM said he could.
And true, it's certainly possible that Zane had a similar encounter with the FSM. Or that his power source is responsible for his resurrection, and just as we may never know how his power source works he may also never know how it brought him back to life. Those are all very possible solutions, and you're welcome to just accept those ideas and move one.
But if you're like me and you don't find those answers particularly satisfying, here's another possibility:
Just as Zane's power has influenced the Overlord, the Overlord's power has influenced Zane. In the explosion of Golden Power that caused both of them to be destroyed in unison, their souls became intertwined. So yes, Zane was meant to die. And judging by his account of the situation in Decoded, he did die. And maybe a peaceful afterlife was well within arm's reach, maybe he was just about to grab the FSM's hand...but then something pulled him back. His soul, chained to the Overlord's dark power, dragged him to the land of the living once more.
And if you really want to get into it, then you could even theorize that this connection ended up influencing Zane's power as well. During the Ice Chapter he was capable of turning people into ice samurai zombie-things kept under his control, as well as creating ice constructs like Boreal. These are not abilities that have been established in the ice power-set, nor are they logical powers for an ice elemental to have. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but the Forbidden Scroll doesn't give you new powers, it just enhances and turbo-boosts what you already have. Which is why it did nothing when Kai held it, as his power had been stolen from him at the time.
(Now before you ask why Pixal could use the Scroll despite seeminlgy not having any powers, there are very subtle implications that she had developed a very, very minor sixth sense due to her inheriting some of Zane's power. If anyone wants me to explain that in greater detail, I'd be more than happy to.)
And yes, Aspheera is also capable of creating elemental zombie/mummy things and other such constructs, but she did all that before she found the Scroll. This is a power-set she had by virtue of her being a powerful sorcerer, not something granted by wielding the Scroll.
And yet somehow, the Scroll did seem to give Zane these powers. Powers that so far have only been exhibited by two people in the series: Aspheera, and the Overlord. So if we submit to the theory that Zane and the Overlord's fight have caused their powers to mix a little, and the Scroll magnifies your power....well, it suddenly becomes very possible that the Scroll amplified some of the dark energy he inherited from the Overlord and awakened some of the Ice Emperor's more unique abilities.
And if that's true, then that really just kinda makes the whole Ice Emperor sting that much more. All of the good things Zane has done, all of his biggest sacrifices, all led to this moment. To him becoming the Ice Emperor.
I dunno. It's just something to think about.

Parts of the Jaya community seem to focus too much on the modern day stereotype for them rather than the character focused version.
Yes, Nya is a strong and independent woman but it doesn’t mean that Jay needs to be a “malewife.” (Meant in the negative due to the way it typically harms his character.)
They can both be equal in the relationship for FSM’s sake. Reversing the traditional gender roles isn’t always a save all be all solution to sexism and misogyny.
Let them be their own individuals and have equal care for each other and their relationship.

I got a Wu/serpentine wars/morro headcanon that I've been trying to draw something for but its taking me ages and I'll explode if I don't talk about it
Basically, I’m kind of obsessed with the Serpentine Wars, and thinking about it, obviously a war can’t just poof happen—there has to be tension building before that. Wu would have been alone at the time (since Garmadon was training under Chen), and from the flashbacks in Season 4, we see that Wu and Garmadon were the leaders of the elemental alliance. This means people looked to them for leadership. But with Garmadon absent and tensions rising, people would have only had Wu to turn to.
Now imagine how much stress that would have been—being expected to find a solution to stop a war, with people trusting you with their lives. In desperation, Wu turns to the FSM’s scrolls, since his father always had answers to every question and always knew what to say. One day, Wu finds a prophecy. But he isn’t the one fit to fulfill it—it has to be someone else, and he needs to find whoever that is.
Then, a boy just conveniently steps into his monastery. If that isn’t a sign, then what is? So, Wu rushes Morro’s training, tells him about the prophecy, and eventually fails him.
It just always bugged me how Wu took his first ever student and immediately thought Morro was the green ninja. No searching for the green ninja- nothing, just the first conveniently available homeless kid. That'll do! Like- bro was in such a hurry jesus calm down. Also just the intensity of Morro's training. I know we only see like 2 scenes but if those were supposed to showcase a normal day of training then?? My only explanation for it was that Wu was under a lot of stress and that thought kind of clicked together with a bunch of other facts and headcanons.
Speaking of other headcanons!! I headcanon Morro was orphaned during that time of tensions between serpentine and humans. Like idk his village got raided and had to flee and bam orphan? Not sure on the specifics, but I think it adds another motivation for him to want to be the green ninja and I like adding more depth instead of just "rahh I want power"
anw that's kind of it yea

incoming rant abt a possible ninjago atla au u have been warned
the gist of the au and what i have in me head is that lloyd is the next air avatar but for some reason the air nomads are skeptical/afraid of baby lloyd so misako takes lloyd and skidadles far away from the temple. because of this, lloyd grows up as a regular kid with no air benders around to teach him air bending And no knowledge that hes the avatar (and therefore that he can bend the other elements)
fast forward to when hes like 9?? 10? wu finds him, surprise ur actually the avatar its training time something something big spiritual evil that might be related to garm something something then wu Leaves and so the training bit falls onto the ninja. which. none of them is an airbender mind u and lloyd Still doesnt know airbending. so they teach him the other elements and Hope that he somehow learns air by proxy
i have a very small and not rlly thought out idea for what an equivalent of the aging tea could be but this is basically it in terms of bg and going forward its just ur usual avatar and ninja shenanigans
ok. now. i have a couple ideas for why the air nomads could be wary of lloyd. one is that they know garmadon is his dad and garm has been cursed by a Particularly Evil spirit and so they think evil dad equals evil son and they dont rlly wanna deal with that so they r like we must get rid of the child he will reincarnate either way its no biggie which,,, uhh yea lets not
the other one is that the nomads have discovered that lloyd is going to be the first avatar that is a direct decendant of the first ever avatar (the fsm) and so they want to like?? harness his power or smth idk.
(the only problem with these ideas is that it kinda relies ok the air nomads having kind of violent and evil solutions to problems so i stil. dont rlly know 😭)
the point is!! one way or another, misako starts seriously fearing for lloyds life and the fact that he might not ever have a choice over it as his own so she takes the baby and Runs.
[abt the fsm, raine lowkey gave me this idea entirely so shoutout raine hello but i was thinking that theres two of them. like. u have the FSM, the first ever avatar, all plwerful godly being. and then u have the dad, the f in fsm stands for Father, this guy is just wu and garms dad. i dint have much else thought out for him just. yea]
now. if i want to talk abt the possible aging tea equivalent i need to talk abt garm. soo augh idk abt garm but i think rhe gist of it is that hes been possessed/corrupted by a spirit bc of a deal he made or for messing with a spirit when he was researching things. the point is hes known as this being that brings chaos and stuff but then wu and misako reveal to lloyd like, thats ur dad actually, and misakos being researching ways to bring him back and lloyd stumbles on this research and decides (not so smartly) that if one qants their dad back one must do it himself so. he manages to contact the original spirit that garm annoyed
so they talk and the spirits like "well i Would give him back but he kinda made me lose my time and energy on him for like,, 4/5 years so unless u figure out a way to give me rhat time back i aint giving him to u" and lloyd goes bet take does from me no biggie
so then lloyd makes this deal not rlly knowing what hes doing and he goes back to the real world and suddenly he has a brand new dad and also abt two whole heads more in height woops
(this all happens post training arc starting so lloyd already knows the ninja and has been living with them for a while)
OK NINJA TIME
so ive been Rlly debating whether i should do the Usual thing and just stick em in the element rhat they have in the show. OR (and this is the idea im leaning more towards) i go with vibes. obviously the vibes are still informed and consider their element in the show
ok first kai and nya. i want them both to be fire nation buut idk if i should make them both firebenders or make them have their usual elements. i do wanna let nya be a waterbender, However since they do live in the fire nation (most likely in a more rural town far from the mainland) nya would be a waterbender that uses mostly firebending styles and techniques. i just have always found this type of mix and match they do with aang and zuko specifically SOO COOL i love it so im gifting that to nya
cole is an earthbender obvi. i havent rlly thought much abt cole bc i immediately decided he would stay an earthbender and didnt question him further.
NOW HEAR ME OUT HERE. i kinda rlly want to make jay earth kingdom and leave him as a non bender. why??? bc the Vibes man. i want to rlly focus on his engineering and tinkery side. i think he would still be rlly involved with bending and stuff and he tries to find different uses to bending outside of fighting. maybe him and cole are childhood friends and jay is always bugging cole to try some of his projects with coles bending.
and finally zane!! hes water tribe but i struggled to settle him on either tribe. i think the northern tribe could fit him in the future but i do think he's originally from the south. i feel like the south gives him more potential to be the specific brand of Peculiar that zane was in the beginning of the sbow. and since this is situated pre war, the southern water tribe would be bigger and better off than how we see them in atla so it would be cool to explore that
so im picturing him as the weird son of the local medic and whatever else dr julien gets up to . so maybe dr julien is teaching zane stuff and he gets Rlly Rlly good so they send him to a bigger settlement with better teachers and eventually he decides to leave the south pole to continue learning and stuff.
i do have ideas abt how wu gathers them together but ive ranted way too much so i will make another post on that if i remember to

"Are you certain your parents will be all right with this?"
"No, Zane. That's literally why we're sneaking in," Kai snaps. "His folks aren't supposed to know about it."
"Oh. That does not seem like a sustainable solution."
.
Junkyard Ninja Au
All the Ninja are kids. Like, 10 or something. Babies.
Lloyd is like. A literal baby. Runaway toddler.
Kai & Nya were put in foster care after a bad winter, & are on the run to prevent being separated
They get bb Lloyd somehow. Same foster family? Just kinda... pick him up out of the dumpster?
Nya's probably the one to grab him. Kai protests but like, she's a force of nature. Nya gets what she wants
Kai is the dad who did not want the cat. Lloyd is the cat.
Zane is an orphan with no memory of his past, just kinda... wandering around
Cole is definitely, 100% percent at his dance boarding school and not a runway lying through his teeth
(His dad... doesn't notice anyway.)
Zane is happy to find a Totally Normal Fellow Orphan. Cole is... concerned. Esp as Zane might have something wrong with his mechanics from an accident or something
Jay gets bullied bc he's a homeschooled kid growing up in a junkyard
Cole sees this. Cole is not cool w/bullies & runs them off
Jay is grateful & helps out w/Zane's tech/malfunction problem (oh my fsm he's an android! Oh trauma for the child he's an android)
Somehow all Ninja become friends???
Maybe bc Jay needs some help from Nya with fixing Zane
"Hello friends you are all homeless. I can totally sneak you into my house"—Jay
Said house is a trailer. His parents are doting. This is, not a good plan.
They make it work. (Read: shenanigans ensue. By all accounts they should be caught but they are not caught.)
(Durn these junkyard rats getting louder & stealing more food y'know. Ha ha. Ha.)
It's kinda fun for a bit. There's bonding. Squabbles. Ninja family forming.
Then Nya gets sick. Very very sick.
Kids try to help. Shoplift medicine, home remedies, etc.
No dice. It gets bad.
Kids come clean to the Walker parents
Walker parents are surprised & alarmed inside but take it in stride
Nya goes to hospital. Recovers.
Walker parents take in all the kids, working out a house attachment to make more bedrooms.
Family
Maybe Pixal, Geo, & Skylor make an appearance somehow??? Sequel??

I had this small ninjago au idea that I had for a while now, idk if I'll ever draw it or not, but the au is called Fsm overlord brother au were follow by the name the overlord is the fsm brother. This was based on the scraped idea that ov was the other half of fsm that tommy had, but instead of him being the oni half, why not make it a family problem, because there's alwas family drama in the fsm bloodline..
Read the rough draft of the idea
So the idea goes like this, before Fsm runs away from the first realm, he spots something on the oni side, a baby. He was confused at first but later learned, just like him. This baby was also born in the conflict of the oni & dragon powers,so not wanting the same fate that he was about to experience, he took him. years passed, and the boy grew up bigger than the fsm, sometimes being mistaken as a younger brother to the overlord they had a strong brotherly bond going on mishap, sometimes getting into trouble, promising to never leave eachother side. But as time passed and both got older, they grew more disten, the fsm focuses more on keeping balanced and peace in the realms while the overlord think the only solution to peace it to conquer but the fsm Opposed the idea Believing everyone has the right of there freedom but he just Scoft and walked away. The fsm worried that his oni side is starting to take over but ignoring it anyway. Later that night, the fsm since something was wrong and went to check it out, he soon saw that his brother was Causing mast destruction and chaos, putting people under a curse to obey him the fsm confronted him about it but the overlord pushed him away, believing that he will bring true peace but in darkness. Fsm Realizing that his oni side had fully taken over, he had no choice but to stop him , so a battle ensued. Both never seem tired out each other, but fsm needs to find a way to stop him once and for all, but he needs to think fast because the overlord used his power to create an instructable army he tried to fight them off but he was starting to grow tired, so he had to make the biggest decision, but at that moment the overlord was about to hit his finally on him blow until the fsm stabed him in the chest, both shocked by this, the overlord pulled him self out the Sword to regain what had happened. the fsm took the opportunity to use the power he had left and split the island in two. ov being on the dark island and fsm being on ninjago. Thire was finally peaceful, but they felt an intense guilt for what he had done. many years passed, and the fsm had kids of his own telling Cautionary tales of the overlord, But not mentioning that the overlord is their uncle. Fear on how they would fell or them follow in his path, after his death the fsm was looking for his brother in the departed realm, hoping that he'll change him or that he regret the Actions he had made and come back. But the more he looked, he had a horrific realization that his soul was still in ninjago waiting for his next attack to cover the world in darkness
This is just the rough draft of the brother Au, I'll update it if i ever come back to it, with designs of the overlord human form. Let me know what you think of it and what should I do to improve on it or have any suggestions?

Uhhhhhhh, trans Morro and Kai ebing a supportive boyfriend pleaseeeee?????
It's really ironic that even though I myself am a trans guy, I don't have that many ftm head canons for characters lmao. It's still fun to think about though! Many of these are based off my own personal relationship with my gender identity
Destinyshipping Headcanons - FTM Morro edition
Morro's dysphoria is mostly over his voice and chest. Kai helps him with his T-shots (because from personal experience having help with those is nice) and reminds him that taking a break from his binder doesn't make him any less of a guy. He actually helped Morro with his suit so that he doesn't have to wear his binder during a fight, but his chest still isn't visible.
After starting T, even though the actual periods stopped, Morro still felt the cramps that come with it. Kai's used to being Nya's personal heating pad during those times, so he fits naturally into the role whenever Morro's hurting. He also brings plenty of chocolate to his needy guy because FSM knows if he doesn't, needy turns to moody real fast lol
There are days where dysphoria gets bad enough Morro can't even look into mirrors. Kai's solution? Help him get a healthy workout going with some mild training. Morro kicks his ass, of course, and at the end of the day, all the working out reminds him that he has a goal. He's losing weight in a healthy way to slim down his chest, and he'll see the results of that soon enough.
Morro didn't come out to anyone at first. Only Wu knew he was trans, but as he grew more comfortable with the team, he had to realize keeping the truth back and hiding his identity was holding him back. Part of him reaching his true potential was being accepted by everyone for who he was, especially Kai.
Morro's done a lot of vocal training and makes style choices that helps him pass incredibly well in public. That being said, some days you just can't win em all. Occasionally Morro has to deal with some misgendering from assholes, and truth be told he doesn't care, because a stranger's opinion doesn't matter to him, but what does matter to him is seeing how pissed off it makes Kai. So maybe sometimes he feeds into it a bit just so he can see his boyfriend hot and bothered. Kai knows this. He doesn't mind lol

How much of your Ninjago oc's have Elemental power?
What is the name of their Elements?
What is some abilities that their power gives them?
What source dragon did their power come from?
Did the Fsm have it?
How powerful are their elements?
And how powerful are them in general?
2 of my ocs have elemental powers :D Alcyo and Two-Worlds (or just Two)
Ranting/question answering under the cut
Alcyo
Element: mist (has also been referred to as vapor, fog, clouds, steam, etc) which i made the fuck up <3
Alcyo has far from reached his true potential with his powers, and honestly he doesn’t intend to. I’ve thought extensively about all the things one could do with this power, but the limited extent of Alcyo’s abilities only include poofing into a mist cloud (like how Cinder can turn into smoke) and moving existing fog or mist around, if he concentrates.
He would go get more training with it but… he’s no warrior or ninja or anything, and has no desire to become one. Plus his training buddy is… presumed dead. So he doesn’t see too much of a point in honing his power anymore. Thus, his skills are pretty weak.
As for what source dragon mist is passed down from… Motion, i suppose. I imagine it came about as a sort of anomalous combo of wind and water. As in, at some point in history, an EM of water and an EM of wind had a child, and instead of their child inheriting one of their powers, they could manipulate mist. Clouds. Airborne water. Whatever you want to call it. By all accounts it wasn’t supposed to happen, but fate and magic are weird like that sometimes. Anyway, since water (and i assume wind as well) fall under Motion, I don’t see why mist wouldn’t.
This also means that the FSM never wielded it, as it came from the only two elements he Didn’t have control over.
Used to its full potential, mist may not be the most ‘powerful’ per se, but there are plenty of very creative ways one could use it…
—————————————
Two-Worlds
Element: water. Currently. At the same time as Nya. …i can explain.
Bear with me here, as the loredump below is fully relavent context to that.
Two is.. technically a very old oc. I watched like two episodes of s3 when I was 9, made Two-Worlds on a whim, barely developed her, and then never watched ninjago again (nor did I do anything with Two again) until March of this year. At the time I first thought her up, Nya’s power reveal hadn’t happened yet, and I’d wanted to give Two an element that wasn’t in the show.
She was also a big… dog..leopard..cat..hybrid… thing? That was 2 stories tall for some reason? I dunno. I was 9. But as of now, she’s had a design and lore overhaul. She’s still huge, just more… elephant-big rather than house-big. She’s also not a dog cat thing anymore, she’s now a nonspecific Amphicyonid. Which is, in my opinion, the closest thing you’re gonna get to a dog cat thing irl. Confusingly, they look more like bears to me than they do like canines or felines. But oh well.
But. Again. I’m going somewhere with this, trust me. I wanted a reason to keep some of her size, and a reason to keep her water powers. So a friend of mine offered a solution in the form of their fan-realm Creatura, which is home to (unusually) large, strangely colored, sapient versions of animals from other realms. Because of dimensional shenanigans, lore that hasn’t been updated since MotM, and the fact that we’re just having fun here, there is a Creaturan EM for each element that is currently held by any non-Creaturan (from Any other realm).
Anyway. With all that mess outta the way, Two-Worlds is the Creaturan master of water.
As of her lore overhaul, I have it so she discovered her power shortly post-s6, and trained under Nya and Wu. She can do just about anything Nya can with her powers, and I’d like to think her fighting style is similar to/modeled after Nya’s. …As similar as Two could get it, considering the two have completely different sizes and body plans.
Two can also use her powers to walk on the surface of water because come on. U can’t tell me a master of water has never manipulated the water to hold them up and let them jesus-walk.
As for the other questions: water’s from Motion, FSM didn’t wield it, it’s pretty damn powerful if you ask me, and Two-Worlds is quite powerful herself. She is physically strong, uses her size to her advantage, has a very good handle on her powers.
Or… she did. Mysteriously, she hasn’t been able to use her powers since the merge :).
