Okay so Breaker and Ewan (apparently my phone has been correcting Ewan to Ivan so that’s totally on me for any confusion) are the godfathers to Beatrix and Benedict, we know that, but they’re also Kells’ oldest friends. And they dated on-and-off for a long time, while Breaker was also maintaining a very toxic relationship with Kells, which in itself was just very complicated and a big part of the reason why Breaker didn’t leave Kells when Ewan did
But anyways
When Beatrix arrives at the school (or maybe town? completely undecided), she and Benedict make the decision to not tell Ewan that she and Breaker were around because they didn’t think he would react well
And they were right, because he didn’t
Breaker and Ewan reunite when Ewan spots him at a grocery store or something and he starts to panic, thinking that Kells had finally found him and Benedict and that this is how he intended to punish him for it; with his former lover here. It wouldn’t be completely out of the question for Kells to do something like that, send Breaker to Ewan to kill him (best case scenario in his mind) and take Benedict. He wouldn’t put it past Kells to not do this
So he decides to confront Breaker, basically interrogating him about why he’s here, if Kells sent him, is Kells there with him, etc.
Breaker is still very upset with him for how things ended between them six years earlier and he feels betrayed for Ewan’s decisions the night he left. But despite that, he answers his questions
He tells him Kells is dead, has been for over a year, something Ewan had had no idea about and that even before that, he’d barely seen Kells in the last four years. Since when the twins were 12, Kells sent Breaker and Beatrix to London so Beatrix could go to a magic school there that he approved of
Ewan is just pissed off and says some things that he later regrets, same with Breaker
After all, this is six years of anger and hurt just flowing out of them. It gets to a point where they both storm out, with no intention of actually forgiving each other
This whole conversation is just angsty and brings up a whole lot for the twins as well, who are then caught with their lying, it ends up kind of being like how in The Parent Trap when the parents realize they have the wrong kid and they’re all emotional about it
I would also love to point out that Breaker already knew Ewan and Benedict were living there, and so had Kells, before he died. Kells had simply chosen not to go after them, thinking that living in a constant state of paranoia would be worse than any punishment he could come up with
Ewan and Breaker and giving such Ballister and Ambrosius from Nimona vibes omggggg
Aaaahhhhhh I’m literally so nervous for them seeing you talk about that interaction, let alone reading it 😭😭
Do you have a surname for any of them yet?

Laddies we got an Au
Long post below the cut and some disturbing imagery, so be advised.
So it takes place after Pearl sunk Abalone and his fleeting. This time however her sisters actually stuck around to check on her after everything and actually managed to help her open up…some how.
Though her heart wasn’t stained black she will never be the same.
However she was able to build up the strength to talk to Lord Oyster again. She never fully forgave him for giving away her pearl, but he was there after the attacks to take care of the pirates who had somehow managed to avoid dying to take them to justice. This showed the mermaids that some cookies could be trusted. Because of this Pearl became a guardian for The House of Oyster and oh boy did that do wonders for their reputation!
With her making peace with all her pain she didn’t fully become Black Pearl and is kinda grey(-ish purple) I need to work on her design a bit more obviously, but she followed a lot closer to Crimson and takes her job as a protector seriously enough. Some may wonder if she enjoys a good fight more than defending her friends.
Also her sister and Frilled Jellyfish have her tokens to try and brighten her up some.
Through all this Lord Oyster swore he would redeem himself to his moon (she asked him not to call her that anymore lol) So he dedicated a good chunk of resources to trying to locate her pearl! This mission was passed down through the generations until finally…
Oyster Cookie had finally gotten a big lead and was able to send one of the best captains and his crew out to try and recover it.
Unfortunately they ran into a slight problem.
The sea the pearl was said to be found in was rough and could capsize a ship twice their size. Caviar wanted to go alone, but with a crew as stubborn as he they braved it together as one! (Candy Diver died in a different accident and Caviar still managed to find them and bring them aboard because he’s just that good at sniffing out crew mates.)
Alas it wasn’t just a storm.
It was a trap.
A band of pirates forged a letter hoping Oyster herself would show up so they could get a nice tidy ransom, but when a harder than nails crew showed up in their place they were far from pleased.
The Salty Shark crew hold their ground well, but being outnumbered four to one never seems to end in your favour.
Caviar was the last to go down and was thrown overboard to his watery grave like the rest of his crew. After The Silent’s crew was demolished completely the pirates set out to “commandeer” her, but immediately things started to go wrong for them. Things went so wrong that at least two were killed on their scramble to get off the boat while many more met their soggy fates as they threw themselves overboard in preference to whatever was on their with them.
Guess what movie franchise this is based on :D
As the legend says the captain pulled himself up out of the deep that night and sails his waters of the Duskgloom searching for his crew to bring them safely aboard and finally leave that damned place. However the captain’s kindness runs short with strangers who cross his path, especially those who fly the skull and crossbones.
The Silent is still under his full command and all orders are carried out will full efficiency.
Now Oyster wanted the return of her pearl to be a surprise with a big celebration after, but when the captain never returned and those she sent to look for him disappeared she had few other choices than to send her most capable guard.

What is it about a sad, pathetic man who thinks he's a monster learning to love himself through the love of a somewhat feral personified ball of sunshine that's just so damn appealing?

happy to report that the student protests have spread to both ireland and to the universities here in berlin. the cops in berlin are, of course, citing "incitement to hatred" as they drag students out of the peaceful sit-in at humboldt university, because the state of berlin continues to be operating under this farcical bullshit where they run an authoritarian crackdown in the name of ~tolerance~

this scene always get me
because firstly, every interaction between kell and alucard is fucking gold, and the concept of them tolerating each other to find lila is perfect. (i could write essays about alucard and kell’s relationship in tftop because it is so fucking entertaining).
but also alucard trying to look after kell for lila’s sake and lila’s sake alone (because this isn’t a pain that could hurt rhy) is so funny to me.
because the implication that at some point lila sat alucard down and explicitly told him there would be hell to pay if he ever let kell hurt himself is gold.
the image of lila bard threatening her best friend over the idiot she loves (who he hates) is just so fucking funny. and i can see alucard thinking it’s hilarious how soft bard actually is, but also being mildly irritated because he knows she’s actually deadly serious and he now has to look out for kell.
and then there’s literally just the fact of how much lila worries in this book. she’s literally never not thinking about kell. i could talk for days about this. they’re so in love it hurts.
this scene is just such a perfect mix of tension and humour, which V always does perfectly.
