well, I can't say I expected the new chapter to feature Idia (metaphorically) going to (metaphorical) hell, getting a pep talk from his (metaphorical) Phantom brother which helps him finally move on once and for all from his brother's death, and (metaphorically) overblotting again to fight his way back out of (metaphorical) hell, only to have his darkest fear (non-metaphorically) come true when his mom goes through his computer and finds all his secret files. but I am glad it did!

also this is all a flashback for the purpose of explaining to our group what the heck is going on (whether or not any of it is getting through is another matter)

louis, lestat, and their single bed as a motif louis puts into his own story, but refuses to explore, is literally one of the sexiest parts of the show. it speaks volumes about a level of fulfillment and freedom that louis feels by being with lestat that he rarely explicitly comments on when he's relaying his story to daniel, which feels extremely relevant to his overall reluctance to examine the parts of his relationship with lestat that he really enjoyed.

because louis is a character who's hyper aware of how he presents himself. he's lived his entire life projecting a certain masculine, heteronormative image, and he's aware of how deviating from that presentation has implications that impact how people view him - from enjoying the opera, to the presentation of his nails. the fact that he moves in with lestat and neither of them ever put a second bed into any room in the house as a level of plausible deniability is so huge and oversight by so cautious a character, it can only be read as deliberate - especially when the conspicuous lack of a second bed is pointed out to them by both antoinette and a literal police officer. in an existence where you don't sleep in a bed, the bed becomes a symbolic object more so than a practical one. it's louis choosing to deliberately transgress against the societal expectations he lives out when he leaves his house, a bit of presentation that actually amplifies his truth as a gay man living with his partner, rather than masking or hiding himself, like he does for the outside world.

My heart is so full of love for all my fandom friends that made this happen— my fellow Louis stan @wicked-felina, who commissioned Laurent, and my love @monstersinthecosmos who gifted me this super shiny metal print that literally pops off the wall.

I feel so honored to have 3 different fan arts from 3 incredible artists on my wall, but this one especially makes me happy dance every time I look at it because I've never had anything made based on my writing so it just feels like such an act of love from all of my favorite people.

when lance sits down in blue by himself for the very first time, she has a feeling he'd like to listen to some music, and she tunes into the space-radio station she feels best-fits her lovely paladin's vibe at any given moment. lance has never had to ask; he assumes this is just a feature of all the lions.

when they switch, lance is unaccustomed to the deafening silence inside red--she's all crackling flame and machinery and whooshing and dead, empty space. it's crippling, and early-on he works up the courage to ask her if she could by any chance pull up some tunes. red goes "just a second. have to ask." and her consciousness slips from him for a moment before returning, content. "blue says you sing well. we will have music." and then there's the radio, flipping to songs that tend towards a higher bpm because red is a fast-paced gal.

keith on the other hand, after days of singing "flyin' in the red lion" on repeat, asked red if she had any music. she hesitated, sent him a blunt "no." and went quiet on the subject forever.

bonus: across the galaxies there are planets and satellites with a soft spot for earth music and so occasionally ping-ponging around in the universe there will be transmissions of grainy songs from earth that have made it big in space. blue will still let red know when she picks up an earth station so that she can play it for lance and he can feel a little closer to home.

word of keith's tone-deafness has reached black, so "flyin in the black lion" it is. legend has it to this day he still doesn't know about lion radio.

Maybe she'd like a planet for her birthday? Just a small one, a tiny moon the perfect size for the perfect 2 year old. (Anakin makes him get 3 moons; a romance novel featuring a widowed parent taught him it's important not to play favorites)

obi-wan: a moon is a perfect starter planet for a young megalomaniac, therefore for leia's birthday i am going to give her a moon :)

anakin: i agree - but also luke has a birthday soon. imagine that.

obi-wan: i'm offended you think i don't know when my son is born. he will be getting a paint set and a star wars easy bake oven.

anakin: and leia gets a moon???
