How to Deal with Windows 10/11 Nonsense
This is more for my own reference to keep all of this on one post. But hopefully others will find this useful too! So yeah, as the title says, this is a to organize links and resources related to handling/removing nonsense from Windows 10 and Windows 11. Especially bloatware and stuff like that Copilot AI thing.
First and foremost, there's O&O Software's ShutUp10++ (an antispy tool that help give you more control over Windows settings) and App Buster (helps remove bloatware and manage applications). I've used these myself for Windows 10 and they work great, and the developers have stated that these should work with Windows 11 too!
10AppsManager is another bloatware/app management tool, though at the moment it seems to only work on Windows 10.
Winaero Tweaker, similar to ShupUp10++ in that it gives you more control over Windows to disable some of the more annoying settings, such as disabling web search from the taskbar/start menu and disabling ads/tips/suggestions in different parts of the OS. I think ShupUp10++ covers the same options as this one, but I'm not entirely sure.
OpenShell, helps simplify the Start Menu and make it look more like the classic start menu from older versions of Windows. Should work with both 10 and 11 according to the readme.
Notes on how to remove that one horrible AI spying snapshots feature that's being rolled out on Windows 11 right now.
Article on how to remove Copilot (an AI assistant) from Windows 11. (Edit 11/20/2024) Plus a post with notes on how to remove it from Windows 10 too, since apparently it's not just limited to 11 now.
Win11Debloat, a simple script that can be used to automatically remove pretty much all of the bullshit from both 10 and 11, though a lot of its features are focused on fixing Windows 11 in particular (hence the name). Also has options you can set to pick and choose what changes you want!
Article on how to set up Windows 11 with a local account on a new computer, instead of having to log in with a Microsoft account. To me, this is especially important because I much prefer having a local account than let Microsoft have access to my stuff via a cloud account. Also note this article and this article for more or less the same process.
I will add to this as I find more resources. I'm hoping to avoid Windows 11 for as long as possible, and I've already been used the O&O apps to keep Windows 10 trimmed down and controlled. But if all else fails and I have to use Windows 11 on a new computer, then I plan to be as prepared as possible.
Edit 11/1/2024: Two extra things I wanted to add onto here.
A recommended Linux distro for people who want to use Linux instead of Windows.
How to run a Windows app on Linux, using Wine. Note that this will not work for every app out there, though a lot of people out there are working on testing different apps and figuring out how to get them to work in Wine.
The main app I use to help with my art (specifically for 3D models to make references when I need it) is Windows only. If I could get it to work on Linux, it would give me no reason to use Windows outside of my work computer tbh (which is a company laptop anyways).

Trending 27th - June 2024
This month, it will have been 8 years since The End of the Galaxy, Wander Over Yonder’s second season finale (NOT series finale for reasons only shrewd fans would know), premiered. If you watched this episode all the way to the end of the credits, you’d know the crew never planned on stopping there. Even so, Craig is seemingly under the impression that Disney has little-to-no interest in WOY, which might be why he never went back to the company after he left Netflix, where he got to tell the story of Kid Cosmic in no more than 24 episodes and end it on his own terms. Just recently, he revealed his next show under the Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe banner: Foster’s Funtime for Imaginary Friends. As for the Powerpuff Girls revival, it was only in development, but not in production (I might have a reason, but I digress). Regardless, WOY still has unfinished business, and the more we spread awareness, the more likely Disney will get the message and invite Craig back to work on ending it his way, once he’s done with his current projects, that is.
That being said, here’s the question of the month…
What gives you the motivation for not giving up on Wander Over Yonder?
In the past, I gave assorted explanations and brought up specific details that prevented me from moving on. Surely other fans have their own reasons - let’s hear them all! And maybe we’ll be more inspired than we are now!
Post the topic on the 27th of June at 8pm EST/28th of June at 1am GMT. If you’re unsure of what time it is in your local time, you can use https://www.worldtimebuddy.com/ to help you.
Make sure you tag Wander Over Yonder, SaveWOY, and other tags as well, because the first 20 tags show up in searches, making your post easier to find for those who might not know about T27th. If you’d like, you can also tag FinishWOY.
If you have one or more social media apps in addition to Tumblr, then you’re welcome to make a T27th post on it, too.
If you’ve got any suggestions for a T27th topic, feel free to DM me.
There are no bad suggestions.
Please reblog if you like this post.

one response I've seen to discussions of privacy settings on the devices and apps we use is "don't complain when these free services are worse because you disabled settings used to improve your experience", and I find the very premise of that argument flawed. my problem is not that these apps collect my data. because yes, data collection can actually be hugely beneficial, as it enables services to be more personalized for your specific needs.
my problem is with the way that my data is used. as it stands, I have to assume that any and all data collected about me is going to be transmitted to a company's servers and used to show me more targeted ads. and that's the best case scenario. I actually have no idea what else they could be using it for, as even with regulations in place, companies break the law all the time. they could be selling it to third parties, or even sharing it with the police or other government authorities.
and there's really no reason that this needs to happen, other than that I live under capitalism and thus every product and service that exists needs to be profitable first and foremost. if this wasn't the case, the developers of this software would have no need to use my data in this way. more often than not, there are ways of collecting my data to improve my user experience that don't involve invading my privacy for the profit motive, and there are even situations where my data doesn't need to be collected at all.
let me give you an example. just a few minutes ago, I opened my weather app to check the temperature outside, and it prompted me to enable precise location tracking in order to continue. there is absolutely no reason why a weather app would need to track my location to begin with. is it useful? sure, it is nice if it can tell me what the weather is like where I currently am without any input from me, but that should be an optional quality of life feature. if I don't want it to do this, which I don't, considering I have no idea who is receiving this data and what they're doing with it, then I should still be able to check the weather by simply inputting the name of the city I'm in.
in the same vein, it's not that I inherently don't want my navigation app to track where I've been in the past. I could think of some cases where that might be useful, such as if I needed proof that I was at a particular place at a particular time. but as it stands, enabling that functionality means google will track my every move, and they can do whatever they want with it, from selling it to the businesses I visited to show me ads, to informing police of my location. if I could be certain that my location data would only be stored locally on my device, and would automatically be deleted after a set amount of time, I might be fine with enabling it.
the problem is that I'm not given the option to maintain my privacy while also benefitting from these services. these apps are designed in such a way that infringing on my privacy is the mandatory default. this is an intentional decision on the part of the companies who develop these apps in order to maximize profitability, and barring you from these services altogether if you disable data collection is designed to frustrate you so that you'll enable it again. under capitalism, you have no rights. you are not respected. so even if it makes things less convenient, I will disable as much data collection as I possibly can.

Another Internet Whitepaper
I'm just gonna get into there is no way to preface this.
1) content should be hosted in their own countries for which they are meant.
2) therefore the website should split into Nation->Sub-nation sections. So things for Michigan would be closer to those in Michigan. With U.S.->Michigan.
--"independent" Nations are just gonna have to deal with being lumped together into a united region. It's simply physics.
--country wide servers and clouds, and worldwide services will still be available; but we need to develop protocols to make it easier to distribute data and declutter the internet-cloud.
3) a separate Intranet for official use and security will need to be developed alongside this while also being completely disconnected from the worldwideweb.
4) Splits;
IP Addresses redesign;
[Country/Region]:[State/Province]:[individual]
[Individual] will need to be controlled by local The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) branches; likely to be reassigned to DMVs and SoSs.
5) Separate protocols For;
Streaming Services
Social Media Services
Bidirectional Interactions (like games and Virtual Machines)
Pornography needs to be completely identifiable by textual Web address.
5) you local region will be defaulted, but can be changed by the browser and not be hard-wired in.
Not indicating a region will automatically default to the local internet.
So typing in FBI.GOV in the U.S. will lead to the FBI website, and if you type it in the UK it'll lead to Mi:5 or something.
6) Social Media protocols will have to be integrated with the E-Mail SMTP protocols. Which will encourage a more decentralized internet. This will *also* have to find a way to work with phone text messages.
7) Cable TV and Streaming services will have to use the same protocols.
8) Because there's phone integration here; a phone number may have to be closer to a social security number going forward. Which will both be bad for animosity, but allow for people to not need login information.
-- This will technically also need to apply to your House; which will have to have an assigned street address.
9) all of these need to be obfuscated to casual observers.
10) this will deprecate our phone companies and require them to work with cable TV and internet companies in order to create more equitable protocols.
11) the current IP address and Domain Registry systems need to be deprecated; as it does not suit its original purpose.
[.xxx] will be assigned for all "adult" materials and be required for ALL "adult materials" posted online.
[.app] will be assigned for appstores.
[.store] for marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, and whatever else.
[.bank] will be for banking and credit purposes
[.social] will be for social media
[.stream] will be for streaming materials,
[.np] for non-profit use only.
[.donation] for donation collections and Kickstarter like services.
[.pay] for payment services like PayPal
Non "adult materials" can be streamed through other "front ends" .
13) These human readable extensions will be simplified on the backend to reduce the total data envelope size.
14) single digit ip-adresses will have to be regulated for use for high-capacity uses. These will need to be "extended" protocols that different services can use.
This will help even out everybody's data envelopes. This will have to be part of a cloud service that can be used by anybody that needs it. With certain restrictions that are deemed necessary by local and federal governments and international treaty reasons.
15) limits on how algorithms and "bots" can ping anything at one time need to be addressed or regulated.
This will be a massive undertaking with the cooperation of all the other governments around the world.
And will be a very lucrative endeavor at the end of it all.
This is just an outline to describe the form the future internet should take and can be changed or modified as required; especially for things I cannot see.
The current corporations will be expected to develop a plan of actions in tandem with current regulatory authorities; failure to do so will create a need for an ultimatum, which we all wish to avoid.
We're also going to need to find ways to encourage competition in these sectors so that they can be upgraded and modified as needed by local areas instead of waiting on these companies to bother with it.

Trusted outsource software development teams - SSTech System
Outsource software development is the practice of relinquishing software-related duties to outside singularities or organizations. Outsourcing is used by firms to acquire software services and products from outside firms that do not have direct employees or employees under contract to the business entity that is outsourcing.
Infect, the outsourcing market worldwide is projected to grow by 8.28% (2025-2029) resulting in a market volume of US$812.70bn in 2029. This model is highly versatile and suits businesses of all sizes.
Start-ups often use outsourcing to develop MVPs quickly, while established companies might seek custom software development services or AI outsourcing services to address complex challenges. Outsourcing can include working with offshore development teams, global software development partners, or local experts like Australian software development experts for specific projects.
The benefits of outsourcing software development
Outsourcing has become a cornerstone for modern businesses due to its numerous advantages. Here’s a closer look at the key benefits:

Perhaps the biggest incentive for sourcing solutions from outsourcing service providers is the cost cutting factor. For instance, offshore software development in India provides expertise services at comparatively lower cost than that of in-house developed services in Western countries. This efficiency enable the enactments of cost savings in some other strategic sectors of the organization.
2. Access to global talent
Outsourcing can help to discover the wealth of new talents as well as the skills of professionals from other countries. No matter Whether it’s AI and machine learning integration, web application development in Australia, or outsourced healthcare software development, businesses can find experts in virtually any domain.
3. Scalability and flexibility
Outsourcing offers flexibility that is unparalleled in many organizations today. This is because; firms are able to expand and contract particular teams depending on the specific demand in projects. For example, outsourced IT solutions help business organizations prepare for different conditions while not having to employ permanent workers.
4. Faster time-to-market
With reliable software development teams in Australia or offshore development teams in India, businesses can speed up their project timelines. This helps innovations to make it through to the market early enough, which is useful for companies.
5. Focus on core activities
By delegating tasks like software maintenance and support or cloud software development in Australia to outsourcing partners, businesses can focus on their core competencies and strategic goals.
6. Reduced risk
In-house staff and trained outsourcing partners come with best practices, methods and procedures which when implemented reduce the chances of project hitch. Working with the top-rated IT outsourcing companies in Australia gives you confidence that your project is in safe hands.
Choosing the right outsourced software development partner
In the period from 2023 to 2027, the revenue of software outsourcing is forecasted to thrive at a CAGR of 7.54%. So, outsourcing partner selection is one of the most vital components since it determines the success of a given venture. Here are essential factors to consider:
1. Technical expertise
Check the partner’s competency and his knowledge of the field. For instance, SSTech System Outsourcing offers comprehensive solutions, from AI development services in India to mobile app development outsourcing in Australia.
2. Proven track record
Look for partners with a strong portfolio and positive client testimonials. A proven track record in delivering custom software development services or managing outsourcing software development contracts is a good indicator of reliability.
3. Effective communication
Effective and open communication is extremely important if the project is to be successful. Work with people who give frequent reports and employ efficient media to overcome the differences in time areas.
4. Cultural compatibility
There has to be a cultural match or at least appreciation for each other’s customs for there to be harmony in the working relationship. As such, staffed with proficient Australia software development experts or offshore development teams, whose experience is to work on global markets can coordinate and blend well with your work culture.
5. Security and compliance
You have to make sure that your partner complies with the standards and the policies that are in the industry. This is especially substantial for all information-sensitive projects such as outsourced healthcare software development or cloud software development in Australia.
6. Scalable infrastructure
Choose a partner capable of scaling their resources and infrastructure to meet your project’s evolving needs. This is crucial for long-term collaborations, especially with global software development partners.
AI-powered tools for outsourced development teams
According to a report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, software development ranks among the most sought-after professions. Hence, AI is at the forefront of reshaping the outsourcing industry. Therefore, the implementation of artificial intelligence will add value to business processes, make workflow easier, and boost the results of projects. Here are some examples:
1. Automated code reviews
Tools like DeepCode and SonarQube assist outsourced teams in detecting whether errors reside in the code line or not, and whether code needs to be enriched or not. This is particularly accurate concerning AI outsourcing and in-house development industries.
2. Predictive analytics
Automated analytics tools can predict such things as the time it will take to complete the project, how much money it will cost, and what risks are possible in a software development outsourcing scenario.
3. Smart project management
Tools and platforms such as Jira and Monday.com, when empowered with AI, allow the coordination of tasks and the tracking of progress and resource allocation.
4. AI collaboration tools
Communication and collaboration with internal members and offshore software development Australia partners get facilitated through applications that include, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and zoom with integrated AI functions.
5. Natural Language Processing (NLP)
AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants simplify communication and issue resolution, making them valuable for managing outsourced IT solutions.
Best practices for managing outsourced development teams
Outsourced teams should be mandated and coordinated following a number of recommendations to ensure the efficiency of the entirety of the outsourcing process.
Here are the best practices to ensure your project’s success:
1. Set clear objectives
Make it clear to your project team, stakeholders, and other relevant parties what the parameters of the project are, what it is that you expect out of it, and what you expect to get from it in return. This fostaines consistency between your team and the outsourcing partner to increase efficiency in service delivery.
2. Choose the right tools
Use project tracking and collaboration software approaches to track and evaluate progress and meet regular informality and collaboration targets.
3. Foster a collaborative environment
It is worthy of note that constant communication is key to ensuring that your outsourcing team is on the same page with you. Fresh produce and feedback mechanisms need to be provided in order for there to be trust as is needed in project management.
4. Draft comprehensive contracts
There should be a comprehensive outsourcing software development contract. It should address issues to do with confidentiality, ownership of ideas and concepts, plea structure and mode of handling disputes.
5. Focus on long-term relationships
Building a long-term partnership with trusted providers like SSTech System Solutions can lead to consistent quality and better project outcomes.
Conclusion
To keep up with technology, outsourcing software development offers businesses solutions and support that can enable the creation of complex solutions out of mere ideas. Outsourcing has the benefits of minute overhead cost and is also a rich source of globally talented employees, and it offers the advantage of early time to market. Side Hustles That Actually Pay in 2025

In 2025, side hustles continue to be a great way to earn extra income, with more opportunities than ever due to technological advancements and evolving work trends. Whether you're looking for a flexible gig, a way to turn a passion into profit, or a stepping stone to financial independence, choosing the right side hustle can make a huge difference.
1. Online Freelancing
Freelancing remains one of the most profitable side hustles, with services like graphic design, writing, website development, and virtual assistance in high demand. Platforms like Fiverr and Upwork have made it easier for skilled professionals to find clients worldwide. Many side hustlers now make over $1,000 per month, with top earners turning their gigs into full-time careers. Learning how to manage side hustle income has also become essential, as governments worldwide are adjusting tax regulations to accommodate the growing gig economy, including raising the income threshold before requiring tax returns in places like the UK (read more here).
2. AI Spokesperson Videos
With AI tools advancing rapidly, creating AI-generated spokesperson videos has emerged as a top-earning side hustle. Businesses use these videos for marketing and training purposes, reducing the need for live actors. This trend is expected to grow even further as AI technology becomes more accessible.
3. Print-on-Demand and Custom Merchandise
E-commerce entrepreneurs are increasingly turning to print-on-demand services to sell unique T-shirts, posters, and other customized products. Platforms like Etsy make it easy to set up a store with minimal upfront investment. Those who successfully market their designs can generate steady passive income.
4. Delivery Services
Food and grocery delivery remains a reliable side hustle, especially in urban areas. Many gig workers combine multiple delivery apps to maximize earnings. In fact, reports show that a growing number of people are using delivery jobs as a stepping stone to financial independence, helping them reach personal savings goals in just a few months (see how some people are doing it).
5. Home Services
Cleaning, landscaping, and handyman services continue to be in high demand. Unlike digital side hustles, these jobs cater to local clients, allowing service providers to build long-term relationships and stable income.
6. Copywriting
As businesses increase their online presence, the need for skilled copywriters is growing. Writing engaging content for brands, websites, and advertisements is a valuable skill that pays well. Many successful copywriters have used side hustling as a gateway to full-time self-employment.
7. Business AI Implementation
AI is revolutionizing industries, and businesses need experts to integrate AI tools into their operations. Those with knowledge of AI applications can offer consulting services, helping companies streamline their workflows and improve efficiency.
8. Real Estate Investments
Owning rental properties or flipping houses can be a highly lucrative side hustle, though it requires significant upfront capital. For those who invest wisely, real estate can generate long-term passive income. Many self-made millionaires have built their wealth by strategically growing their real estate portfolios (here are some of their strategies).
9. Content Creation
Platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram offer multiple ways to earn money, from ad revenue to sponsorships. While growing a following takes time, successful creators can generate thousands of dollars per month through brand collaborations and product sales.
10. Online Tutoring
With online education on the rise, tutoring is a rewarding side hustle that allows experts in various subjects to teach students worldwide. High-demand subjects like math, science, and language learning offer competitive pay rates.
Conclusion
Side hustles in 2025 provide a wealth of opportunities, whether you're looking for extra cash, financial independence, or a career change. From AI-driven gigs to traditional services, choosing the right side hustle depends on your skills, interests, and long-term goals. By staying informed and strategic, anyone can turn a side hustle into a profitable venture. Check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/N2Bj6UcKr6c

Grindr’s AI wingman, currently in beta testing with around 10,000 users, arrives at a pivotal moment for the software company. With its iconic notification chirp and ominous mask logo, the app is known culturally as a digital bathhouse for gay and bisexual men to swap nudes and meet with nearby users for sex, but Grindr CEO George Arison sees the addition of a generative AI assistant and machine intelligence tools as an opportunity for expansion.
“This is not just a hookup product anymore,” he says. “There's obviously no question that it started out as a hookup product, but the fact that it's become a lot more over time is something people don't fully appreciate.” Grindr’s product road map for 2025 spotlights multiple AI features aimed at current power users, like chat summaries, as well as dating and travel-focused tools.
Whether users want them or not, it’s all part of a continuing barrage of AI features being added by developers to most dating apps, from Hinge deciding whether profile answers are a slog using AI, to Tinder soon rolling out AI-powered matches. Wanting to better understand how AI fits into Grindr's future, I experimented with a beta version of Grindr's AI wingman for this hands-on report.
First Impressions of Grindr’s AI Wingman
In interviews over the past few months, Arison has laid out a consistent vision for Grindr’s AI wingman as the ultimate dating tool—a digital helper that can write witty responses for users as they chat with matches, help pick guys worth messaging, and even plan the perfect night out.
“It's been surprisingly flirtatious,” he says about the chatbot. “Which is good.”
Once enabled, the AI wingman appeared as another faceless Grindr profile in my message inbox. Despite grand visions for the tool, the current iteration I tested was a simple, text-only chatbot tuned for queer audiences.
First, I wanted to test the chatbot’s limits. Unlike the more prudish outputs from OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude, Grindr’s AI wingman was willing to be direct. I asked it to share fisting tips for beginners, and after stating that fisting is not for newcomers, the AI wingman encouraged me to start slow, use tons of lube, explore smaller toys first, and always have a safe word ready to go. “Most importantly, do your research and maybe chat with experienced folks in the community,” the bot said. ChatGPT flagged similar questions as going against its guidelines, and Claude refused to even broach the subject.
Although the wingman was down to talk through other kinks—like watersports and pup play—with a focus on education, the app rebuked my advances for any kind of erotic role-play. “How about we keep things playful but PG-13?” said Grindr’s AI wingman. “I’d be happy to chat about dating tips, flirting strategies, or fun ways to spice up your profile instead.” The bot also refused to explore kinks based on race or religion, warning me that these are likely harmful forms of fetishization.
Processing data through Amazon Web Service’s Bedrock system, the chatbot does include some details scraped from the web, but it can’t go out and find new information in real time. Since the current version doesn't actively search the internet for answers, the wingman provided more general advice than specifics when asked to plan a date for me in San Francisco. “How about checking out a local queer-owned restaurant or bar?” it said. “Or maybe plan a picnic in a park and people-watch together?” Pressed for specifics, the AI wingman did name a few relevant locations for date nights in the city but couldn’t provide operating hours. In this instance, posing a similar question to ChatGPT produced a better date night itinerary, thanks to that chatbot’s ability to search the open web.
Despite my lingering skepticism about the wingman tool potentially being more of an AI fad than the actual future of dating, I do see immediate value in a chatbot that can help users come to terms with their sexuality and start the coming out process. Many Grindr users, including myself, become users of the app before telling anyone about their desires, and a kind, encouraging chatbot would have been more helpful to me than the “Am I Gay?” quiz I resorted to as a teenager.
Out With the Bugs, In With the AI
When he took the top job at Grindr before the company’s public listing in 2022, Arison prioritized zapping bugs and fixing app glitches over new feature releases. “We got a lot of bugs out of the way last year,” he says. “Until now, we didn't really have an opportunity to be able to build a lot of new features.”
Despite getting investors hot and bothered, it’s hard to tell how daily Grindr users will respond to this new injection of AI into the app. While some may embrace the suggested matches and the more personalized experience, generative AI is now more culturally polarizing than ever as people complain about its oversaturation, lack of usefulness, and invasion of privacy. Grindr users will be presented with the option to allow their sensitive data, such as the contents of their conversations and precise location, to be used to train the company’s AI tools. Users can go into their account’s privacy settings to opt out if they change their mind.
Arison is convinced in-app conversations reveal a more authentic version of users than what's filled out on any profile, and the next generation of recommendations will be stronger by focusing on that data. “It's one thing what you say in your profile,” he says. “But, it's another thing what you say in your messages—how real that might be.” Though on apps like Grindr, where the conversations often contain explicit, intimate details, some users will be uncomfortable with an AI model reading their private chats to learn more about them, choosing to avoid those features.
Potentially, one of the most helpful AI tools for overly active Grindr users who are open to their data being processed by AI models could be the chat summaries recapping recent interactions with some talking points thrown in to keep conversations going.
“It's really about reminding you what type of connection you might have had with this user, and what might be good topics that could be worth picking back up on,” says A. J. Balance, Grindr’s chief product officer.
Then there’s the model’s ability to highlight the profiles of users it thinks you’re most compatible with. Say you’ve matched with another user and chatted a bit, but that’s as far as things went in the app. Grindr’s AI model will be able to summarize details about that conversation and, using what it has learned about you both, highlight those profiles as part of an “A-List” and offer some ways to rekindle the connection, widening the door you’ve already opened.
“This ‘A-List’ product actually goes through your inbox with folks you've spoken with, pulls out the folks where you've had some good connections,” Balance says. “And it uses that summary to remind you why it could be good to pick back up the conversation.”
Slow Roll
As a gaybie, my first interactions on Grindr were liberating and constricting at the same time. It was the first time I saw casual racism, like “No fats. No fems. No Asians,” blasted across multiple online profiles. And even at my fittest, there always seemed to be some headless torso more in shape than me right around the corner and ready to mock my belly. Based on past experiences, AI features that could detect addiction to the app and encourage healthier habits and boundaries would be a welcome addition.
While Grindr’s other, AI-focused tools are planned for more immediate releases throughout this year, the app’s generative AI assistant isn’t projected to have a complete rollout until 2027. Arison doesn’t want to rush a full release to Grindr’s millions of global users. “These are also expensive products to run,” he says. “So, we want to be kind of careful with that as well.” Innovations in generative AI, like DeepSeek’s R1 model, may eventually reduce the cost to run it on the backend.
Will he be able to navigate adding these experimental, and sometimes controversial, AI tools to the app as part of a push to become more welcoming for users looking to find long-term relationships or queer travel advice, in addition to hookups? For now, Arison appears optimistic, albeit cautious. “We don't expect all of these things to take off,” he says. “Some of them will and some won't.”

hello and sorry if i am barking up the wrong tree--do know of any good readings on media piracy, like critical theory, what forms do or do not affect certain kinds of creators, freedom of information/art etc? I'm struggling to find stuff online with the enshittification of search engines, and you seemed like you might know!
Hi there. The question you’re asking is very complex and there’s really no true one answer for it.
Media piracy as a whole is too new of a topic to really have much empirical studies or data to suggest if piracy hurts sales one way or another. We mostly have anecdotal evidence.
However, there is one study from the EU that suggest video game piracy in particular doesn’t harm sales numbers and in fact may help sales in some cases (i.e. trying out a game before you decide to buy, through the means of piracy). Going further, the same study found that piracy does negatively impact film and book sales, while music sales differences were negligible.
You can read about the study in this article, which also contains a pdf link to the study itself.
Generally speaking, I would suggest not pirating anything that’s worth buying. An indie game you pirated and ended up liking deserves to be bought.
Books always should be bought to support the author, and at local book store where the money actually helps your community too. Unless they’re overpriced textbooks.
If you use a cracked Spotify app and find a band you like, please look them up on bandcamp and maybe buy some merch too while you’re there. That does wonders more than paying for a Spotify subscription and streaming their music.
Big companies like Nintendo, Disney, Adobe etc. don’t deserve a dime. Always pirate their products.
As for what information/art should be free, I’m of the opinion, all of it should be free. No one should be denied the right to learn or engage with artworks because they are locked out behind a paywall. If you are privileged enough to help out independent game developers, authors, and musicians, then you definitely should! But just because someone doesn’t have that privilege themselves doesn’t mean they should never get to play that game/read that book/hear that music etc.
I know this isn’t exactly the answer you’re looking for, and I apologize for that. But you have to also understand things aren’t so black and white of “piracy good or bad?” Because it really depends on the situation of who is doing it and what is being pirated.

Local Crafts and Artisans: Support local artisans by purchasing handmade crafts, batik textiles, and other traditional products directly from the makers. These items are often more affordable and carry a personal touch.
9. Travel Insurance and Safety
While traveling on a budget, it’s crucial not to overlook safety and preparedness. Investing in travel insurance can save you from unexpected expenses due to medical emergencies, trip cancellations, or lost belongings.
Affordable Insurance Plans: Compare different insurance providers to find a plan that offers comprehensive coverage at a reasonable price. Some budget-friendly options include World Nomads, Allianz Travel, and local Malaysian insurance companies.
Stay Informed: Keep abreast of local news and advisories to ensure you’re aware of any safety concerns or travel restrictions. This proactive approach can help you avoid unnecessary expenses related to last-minute changes.

Implementing smart budgeting strategies can significantly enhance your ability to explore Malaysia affordably.
Daily Budgeting: Set a daily budget for expenses like food, transportation, and activities. Tracking your spending helps prevent overspending and ensures you stay within your financial limits.
Use Cash Wisely: While Malaysia is largely cashless, carrying some cash is essential for small purchases and places that don’t accept cards. Use ATMs strategically to avoid high withdrawal fees.
Travel Light: Packing light can save you money on baggage fees, especially if you plan to move between multiple destinations. Additionally, carrying a versatile wardrobe reduces the need to purchase extra clothing.
Leverage Technology: Use budgeting apps and travel planning tools to manage your expenses and find the best deals on accommodations, transportation, and activities.
Conclusion

Choosing Between PayPal, Stripe, and Local Gateways for Business
Selecting the right payment gateway is a key decision when starting an e-commerce business or moving into digital payments. Each gateway comes with its features and benefits, which can be helpful for different types of businesses. In this article, we'll compare three options: PayPal, Stripe, and local payment gateways, to help you decide which one is best for your business, such as mobile app development.
1. PayPal: Well-Known and Widely Used
Easy to Set Up: PayPal is known for its ease of use. Setting up an account and starting to accept payments can be done quickly, making it ideal for small businesses, startups, or anyone new to e-commerce.
Customer Trust: PayPal is trusted and recognized by many consumers. People feel comfortable using a payment system they know, which can help increase sales.
Higher Fees: One downside is that PayPal charges transaction fees, which can be higher than some other options. If your business processes a large number of transactions, these fees can add up.
Mobile Integration: PayPal works well across websites, apps, and other platforms, making it a versatile option for different types of businesses.
2. Stripe: Developer-Friendly with Advanced Features
Customizable for Developers: Stripe offers a lot of customization options, making it great for companies with their developers. You can have more control over the payment process.
Supports Multiple Currencies: Stripe is ideal for businesses operating globally. It supports payments in various currencies, making international transactions easier.
Mobile App Integration: If your business involves mobile app development, Stripe's simple APIs can be easily integrated into your app for a smooth payment experience.
Complex for Beginners: While Stripe offers flexibility, it might be harder to use for those without coding skills.
3. Local Payment Gateways: Best for Regional Needs
Lower Transaction Fees: Local payment gateways often have lower fees compared to international options like PayPal and Stripe, making them attractive for businesses focusing on a specific region.
Local Payment Methods: Some customers prefer using local payment methods. Local gateways allow businesses to accept these, which can improve sales within a particular market.
Customer Support: One advantage of using a local gateway is that customer support is often more accessible and personalized, which is helpful for small businesses.
Limited Global Reach: The main drawback of local gateways is that they’re better suited for businesses with little or no international presence.
Final Words
The best payment gateway for your business depends on several factors. If ease of use and customer trust are important, PayPal might be the right choice. Businesses involved in mobile app development or those that need more customization may find Stripe to be a better fit. For businesses focusing on local markets and wanting to save on fees, local gateways are a good option.
Choosing the right payment system is an important step, and understanding the features of each option will help you make the best decision for your business.

Is your iPhone listening to you? Here's what to know... - CyberTalk

Is your iPhone listening to you? Here's what to know... - CyberTalk

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Have you ever found yourself wondering about whether (or not) your iPhone is listening to you? If the phone is on your person nearly 24/7, what is it hearing that you might prefer for someone not to know about or use against you? (For example, that shouting match with your spouse)
As great as the iPhone is – it’s one of the best, if not the best phone around – it’s awkward to feel like you’re continually being overheard by an invisible third-party.
So, what’s really happening? In this article, discover the truth behind iPhone eavesdropping myths, unravel misconceptions and maximize your phone’s potential.
Gain insights into the nuances of iPhone listening (or lack thereof) and see how to protect your privacy in an era rife with hacking and data compromises.
Is your iPhone listening to you?
It’s true that your iPhone might be passively listening, but perhaps not in the lawless, intrusive ways that you might imagine. Apple does not sell data to third-parties for marketing purposes. The company has explicitly stated that:
“The customer is not our product and our business model does not depend on collecting vast amounts of personally identifiable information…,” in response to a 2018 U.S. congressional inquiry.
If that’s the case, why are iPhones listening?
One of the primary reasons as to why iPhone listening occurs is to detect voice commands, like “Hey Siri”.
While highly unlikely due to Apple’s rules and compliance processes, apps could also be “listening”.
When it comes to advertising, the term “listening” really refers to the use of sophisticated machine learning algorithms, which parse apart language to find ad targeting opportunities.
It’s probably not a coincidence if you’ve had a conversation about buying a new car, and shortly thereafter, corresponding advertisements appear.
Note: This isn’t at all common to iPhones, unless they’ve been jailbroken, and typically only occurs on other device types.
What about Siri?
Siri continuously “listens” for the specific “Hey Siri” cue (and for a small number of similar sounds indicating that a person may have attempted to say “Hey Siri”).
Once a person has said “Hey Siri,” the information is largely processed locally; a somewhat recent departure from the past configuration, where information was processed on Apple’s servers.
Is the iPhone listening illegally?
For iPhones, third-party apps are required to obtain explicit user consent when collecting microphone data. At the outset, Apple reviews apps to ensure that they’re compliant.
All apps must go through the Apple Review Process for privacy compliance ahead of being green-lighted for the app store. That said, the process doesn’t guarantee that app developers can’t misbehave at a later point in time.
In other words, in regards to apps, Apple does its best to ensure that iPhones don’t eavesdrop. Accidents could theoretically occur, although the probabilities are slim and they would be clear violations of Apple’s rules.
Is iPhone listening a cause for concern?
Generally, no. If you’re concerned about iPhone listening, note that the newer generations of iPhones have an indicator at the top of the screen that shows when the mic and camera are on.
The light becomes orange when the mic is on. It turns green when the camera is on. This recently added privacy feature assists users in detecting when an app is accessing their device’s systems.
In exceptional circumstances, spyware could be deployed on a phone, resulting in listening. Typically, this only pertains to higher-profile individuals, uniquely targeted individuals, and/or to jailbroken phones.
iPhone listening privacy tips (2024)
If concerned about iPhone privacy, consider the tips below:
1. Shut off the mic for Siri and for individual applications.
To switch off your iPhone’s microphone for Siri, go to Settings > Siri & Search. Then toggle off the following:
Listen for ‘Hey Siri’
Press side button for Siri
Allow Siri when locked
To review permissions and turn off the mic for individual applications, navigate to Settings and then click on individual apps. If you don’t want the mic for that app to remain on, simply toggle the switch.
2. Consider use of a VPN, which will make your device less vulnerable to threats by providing an encrypted, private connection. Do your research and find a reputable VPN provider. Avoid VPN providers who sell your contact information to advertisers. Carefully read through a VPN provider’s privacy policy ahead of agreeing to use their service.
3. Opt for a comprehensive solution like ZoneAlarm mobile security, which uses enterprise-grade technology to protect individuals’ phones and tablets from all kinds of cyber threats.

What went wrong with Depop
I remember the first items I bought on Depop. It was back in 2017, actually before I had developed an interest in sustainability. I had just dropped out of university and was working part-time at a local pub. It wasn’t a great time in my life to say the least.
It became a bit of an outlet. For a shopaholic like me, branded items being sold for a fraction of their original price was a no-brainer, and was pivotal in getting me over my aversion to second-hand clothing.
I would see items in shops and think to myself “I’ll just wait six months and buy it for cheap on Depop”. It’s how I got my Topshop Hurricane snake print boots. It saved my hide when I bought some ASOS shoes in the wrong size and then they ran out of the right size, only to stumble across them later on the app.
I didn’t just use it to purchase high street items; Depop was the first time I dipped my toes into the waters of vintage clothing and I found some real bargains on there (although the stench of stale cigarette smoke on the floral maxi skirt I ordered still remains in my nostrils to this day). I found a genuine leather white mini skirt and a Burberry trench (although perhaps that should be third-hand as the seller had purchased it from a vintage clothing store).
I personally never sold on Depop, as I found it was only really the sellers who committed to selling their items (and usually keeping a steady flow of new stock) or those whose items adhered to a tightly curated aesthetic. The layout of Depop is very similar to that of Instagram, and having items in the same style, colour or brand is pleasing to the eye and increases the likelihood of shoppers following the seller (and thus receiving notifications of new items to sell). This approach was much more successful than the sellers with eclectic mix that honestly represented the cast-offs of their wardrobe. Many of the items I bought were a casual seller’s first ever sale, despite usually having around a dozen on offer.
This was not a problem in the beginning- at least not from a shopper’s perspective anyway. But it was a sign of troubles to come.
Those who realised there was money to be made by reselling second-hand items sourced from charity shops (not an inherently wrong thing in my opinion, but a somewhat controversial in sustainability circles online due to the allegation that this denies low-cost clothing to those in a local community who most need it) went into overdrive, hiking up their prices.
The magic word was ‘y2k’, a banner under which anything could be sold for £20 and above, creeping close to the original RRP or sometimes surpassing it!
The app became increasingly challenging to navigate. For maximum visibility sellers would list just a blurb of tags regardless of whether they were relevant; a Topshop skirt manufactured and sold in 2013 could simultaneously be tagged ’90s’ and ’00s’ when the skirt itself frankly bore no resemblance to the clothing of either decade. Brand names would just be used for the sake of increasing their chances of appearing in search results. The rise of even faster fashion brands in the late 2010s became increasingly omnipresent, lowering the overall quality of the items on sale.
So when Vinted launched in the UK, I immediately signed up. At the initial stage the app was pretty glitchy; it would only show a few dozen items and then was unable to download more and at one point was entirely in French. But it soon came to find its footing and since then has firmly established itself amongst young people in the UK. I erroneously assumed that Vinted was a relatively new company, but actually it was founded in Lithuania in 2008 and has since expanded into over a dozen other countries.
It would be fantasy to pretend that Vinted is a shining city on the hill- Shein and its ilk are arguably just as prevalent as they are on Depop (with the small caveat that sellers aren’t charging nearly as much) but its search engine and filters are much better than Depop’s. The layout of the website and the range of items sold bear more resemblance to the early days of eBay (before it became an Amazon copycat dominated by mass-produced new items sold by large companies). I also suspect it will follow a similar trajectory to Depop, starting out as a cheap, sustainable and user-friendly platform that is ultimately undone by its popularity, with sellers asking for unreasonable items for low-quality products leading to a migration to whatever new reselling platform senses an opportunity. But for now, I enjoy Vinted as much as I once did Depop (and perhaps more than is good for my bank account).

Why Every Travel Business Needs a Travel API
In today's fast-paced world, the travel industry is constantly evolving, and businesses are looking for innovative ways to stay ahead of the competition. One such game-changer is the Travel API. APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) are transforming the way companies in the travel sector operate, providing them with the tools to enhance customer experiences, streamline operations, and offer personalized services.
What is a Travel API and How Does It Work?
A Travel API is a set of protocols that allow developers to integrate various travel-related services into applications, websites, or platforms. It connects different travel services, such as flight booking, hotel reservations, car rentals, and even local tours, into a seamless experience for users. With the help of a Travel API, businesses can offer their customers up-to-date information and enable bookings in real-time, making the process smoother and faster. At its core, the Travel API serves as a bridge that communicates between the user’s request and the backend systems of various travel providers. By providing access to travel data, businesses can integrate features like dynamic pricing, availability checking, and instant booking confirmations without having to manage all the infrastructure themselves.
Why Should You Use a Travel API?
There are many reasons why integrating a Travel API into your business platform is essential. Here are some key benefits. Seamless Integration: APIs simplify the integration process, allowing businesses to offer travel services without extensive technical expertise or managing multiple third-party connections. Real-time Data: A Travel API provides access to real-time data from airlines, hotels, and car rental companies, ensuring that customers always receive the most current information. Cost Efficiency: Rather than building your own travel platform from scratch, a Travel API allows you to tap into an already existing network, saving both time and money. Enhanced Customer Experience: By offering an intuitive and quick interface, the Travel API improves the user experience, making it easier for customers to plan and book their trips all in one place.
Applications of a Travel API
The potential uses of a Travel API are vast. Here are just a few examples of how businesses in the travel industry can benefit. Travel Agencies: Enhance your online booking system with features such as flight comparison, hotel searches, and itinerary planning. E-commerce Platforms: Add travel booking capabilities to your existing platform, allowing customers to purchase tickets and reserve accommodations with ease. Mobile Apps: Offer users the ability to book flights, rent cars, and find hotels directly through your app, all powered by a Travel API.
