My flawed analysis of what we saw in TDA footage and stuff.

DEVELOPER DIRECT

Demonic guy, who some believe to be the Dark Lord (Not Davoth, rather one that was the DL at a certain point)

Perhaps related to Davoth in some way.

His design also has a pure inverted crucifix (Also, prefer a Dark Lord that looks like a demonic humanoid over "evil Doomguy" if you recall me saying Davoth is "5 ideas mixed into one, but each would've been better if seperate".

His name is Ahzrak according to the filename/URL of a screenshot in the Slayers Club.

Someone is kneeling next to him.

Not sure if Ahzrak is related to the 6 archdemons.

Doomguy's flail has runes in the morning star

Lightning Gun as part of the Sentinels (According to 2016's art book, the weapon was UAC related but TAG2 gave them to the Sentinels)

And we also see an unmasked soldier using it.

Titans and one picking up a broken Atlan and throwing it

Doomguy's Atlan kicks a Titan to a huge hole (In that Mars area), who looks like they have a thing in their mouth

Charging up something? Could be a cinematic where Doomguy puts a large bomb in their mouth.

Shieldsaw on HK, probably a cinematic (Since Glory Kills are gone)

The HK also has some differences like "boney-ish" pieces but they still look very similar to their DE look.

Doomguy runs and jumps to a flying ship, like in an action movie whenever there's a helicopter

Maykr ship shooting Doomguy, probably a different version of that cutscene from the previous trailer

Familiar shot of a town at war, then we see a place with a waterfall, maybe statues and possibly Megahealth pickups (They look like they have rings around them; In 2016, they were UAC orbs and in DE were "Soulspheres" but with a solid face instead of animated and inside the sphere)

This is probably related to that flying Maykr place from the trailer.

I said it before that a genuine "Doomguy face in 3D" should be like a low poly face with nice textures or something (Someone could find a post of mine saying how they could modernize his head).

Shield throw on possessed soldiers, whose shields explode if hit with yours

Green parryable fireball sent back to Imp

I wonder of deflected projectiles will always return to their sender or you could like deflect a Cybie rocket and make it hit an Imp.

Shield dash on Imp, also note the ammo pickup being bullets (When there's probably none of that stuff in TDA's weapons except the Atlan's minigun) and the health being spheres with skulls

While Doomguy fights this Manc, you can see a Titan and Atlan fighting and a building that looks like it has an orange-ish eye, so the building looks demonic

Also, that purple ring which relates to melee and the shield bash.

Manc also drops armor while attacked

Demonic church? You see cultists with robes (Kinda like that one DE trailer before they're replaced by generic possessed) and a Maykr statue

They lose limbs but when they lost the first arm, they still tried to fight (Also, the hanged corpses shake from the fight)

Also noticed something in the backgroud like if the large demonic ships have writting.

Writint this bit after watching the footage: There's like a new weapon that reminded me of DE concept art.

The spiked mace looks demonic, it reminds me of the Crucible

Arachno's turret doesn't look biological

This area looks very UAC-ish, which could mean the UAC in this universe was inspired by Sentinels and how Sentinels are ancestors of mankind (I had this theory of Doomguy's presense in the Sentinel world being what inspired the UAC in said universe)

The original 'virgin vs chad' meme

I feel like everyone is sick of those stupid soyjack vs Chad "my opinion is good and based and correct, your opinion bad and wrong and stinky" memes by this point, as they're some of the lowest forms of current internet 'humor.' But precisely because those memes are so bad and also everywhere, I feel it's worth giving some credit to the fact that the original "The Virgin Walk / The Chad Stride" was actually a brilliant meme.

"The Virgin Walk" image showed up first, and it was standard 4chan stuff - which is to say, highly negative. Just a whole bunch of random small traits that people can have, bundled together in an accusatory way to try and make people insecure about them having "virgin" posture, by the kind of people who genuinely worries about being an "alpha male" (Or possibly pointing out their own flaws as a form of self-hatred, flip a coin when it comes to 4chan)

And then, on another thread, someone made the Chad Stride edit to go along with it.

It's a great piece of satire by how simple it is. Just by taking the traits listed in the original image, then inverting and exaggerating them, the result is an absurd caricature of a man who does not (and should not) exist. Through exaggeration, it demonstrates how the people who constantly worry about seeming 'Chad-like' are chasing after behaviour that is utterly unhinged and disconnected from reality.

I think this gif demonstrates it perfectly by putting it in motion:

Virgin is a normal, if insecure dude. Chad is an absolute fucking maniac. (Not to mention all the references to violence in the image)

So, while it did degrade into those awful soyjak memes we all know and hate because that is the nature of the internet, I feel like it's worth remembering that in the original image that spawned this entire trend, you're supposed to laugh at Chad. also, because i keep seeing misinfo on my dash, this is not a Windows problem, it's a Crowdstrike problem. If you just have a windows machine it's not gonna get bricked, it only affects those who have the crowdstrike program installed, which, to my understanding, is geared towards workplaces, not common users.

i'm also gonna nitpick all the comparison to y2k going around, because y2k was a general and predictable problem about the way dates were stored in programs, and fixes could be discussed and developed years before it was meant to happen. This is one single company pushing a bad update and immediately bricking everyone, plus both them and the companies having no decent strategy to restart the systems or activate alternate systems during such an error.

The issue isn’t a Microsoft issue and I’m not IT, so luckily I’ve dodged any bullets related to this. I’m in fact LESS impacted than most since Microsoft doesn’t use third-party antimalware.

I am however watching this whole thing unfold because it is absolutely unbelievable.

Weaknesses of AI image generation

The biggest flaw in AI image generation software is that it completely ignores the basics and just starts coloring the picture itself. That's why it's so unstable and makes so many processing errors. Normally, when drawing a picture, you decide on the composition, draw a rough sketch, make corrections as necessary, draw the line art, and finally color it. Don't just start drawing from scratch. If you don't have a solid foundation, you can't draw a picture properly. So what are the basics of AI? First, create the overall composition. Calculate the exact position, coordinates, and positional relationship of each element. Calculate the positional relationship between the subject and the background and foreground. Next, generate and analyze the rough sketch, and verify and correct any processing and calculation errors. Finally, generate the picture itself. Of course, the quality of the learning data and the learning method are also very important. It is clear that the traditional learning method of showing a lot of images and photos to learn has already reached its limit. It goes without saying that AI image generation software cannot overcome all of the challenges it faces. It is essential to create a system that can generate images, learn from corrected images, and recognize and correct mistakes. Furthermore, a model like that used for face recognition and identification is also necessary, and it is necessary to learn the position, ratio, and shape of each part (element), such as two eyes lined up at the top, a nose in the center, and a mouth below that. okay let's break it down. i'm an engineer, so i'm going to come at you from a perspective that may be different than someone else's.

i don't hate ai in every aspect. in theory, there are a lot of instances where, in fact, ai can help us do things a lot better without. here's a few examples:

ai detecting cancer

ai sorting recycling

some practical housekeeping that gemini (google ai) can do

all of the above examples are ways in which ai works with humans to do things in parallel with us. it's not overstepping--it's sorting, using pixels at a micro-level to detect abnormalities that we as humans can not, fixing a list. these are all really small, helpful ways that ai can work with us.

everything else about ai works against us. in general, ai is a huge consumer of natural resources. every prompt that you put into character.ai, chatgpt? this wastes water + energy. it's not free. a machine somewhere in the world has to swallow your prompt, call on a model to feed data into it and process more data, and then has to generate an answer for you all in a relatively short amount of time.

that is crazy expensive. someone is paying for that, and if it isn't you with your own money, it's the strain on the power grid, the water that cools the computers, the A/C that cools the data centers. and you aren't the only person using ai. chatgpt alone gets millions of users every single day, with probably thousands of prompts per second, so multiply your personal consumption by millions, and you can start to see how the picture is becoming overwhelming.

that is energy consumption alone. we haven't even talked about how problematic ai is ethically. there is currently no regulation in the united states about how ai should be developed, deployed, or used.

what does this mean for you?

it means that anything you post online is subject to data mining by an ai model (because why would they need to ask if there's no laws to stop them? wtf does it matter what it means to you to some idiot software engineer in the back room of an office making 3x your salary?). oh, that little fic you posted to wattpad that got a lot of attention? well now it's being used to teach ai how to write. oh, that sketch you made using adobe that you want to sell? adobe didn't tell you that anything you save to the cloud is now subject to being used for their ai models, so now your art is being replicated to generate ai images in photoshop, without crediting you (they have since said they don't do this...but privacy policies were never made to be human-readable, and i can't imagine they are the only company to sneakily try this). oh, your apartment just installed a new system that will use facial recognition to let their residents inside? oh, they didn't train their model with anyone but white people, so now all the black people living in that apartment building can't get into their homes. oh, you want to apply for a new job? the ai model that scans resumes learned from historical data that more men work that role than women (so the model basically thinks men are better than women), so now your resume is getting thrown out because you're a woman.

ai learns from data. and data is flawed. data is human. and as humans, we are racist, homophobic, misogynistic, transphobic, divided. so the ai models we train will learn from this. ai learns from people's creative works--their personal and artistic property. and now it's scrambling them all up to spit out generated images and written works that no one would ever want to read (because it's no longer a labor of love), and they're using that to make money. they're profiting off of people, and there's no one to stop them. they're also using generated images as marketing tools, to trick idiots on facebook, to make it so hard to be media literate that we have to question every single thing we see because now we don't know what's real and what's not.

the problem with ai is that it's doing more harm than good. and we as a society aren't doing our due diligence to understand the unintended consequences of it all. we aren't angry enough. we're too scared of stifling innovation that we're letting it regulate itself (aka letting companies decide), which has never been a good idea. we see it do one cool thing, and somehow that makes up for all the rest of the bullshit?
