Like other rules and regulations, building codes are written in blood!!!
I truly, TRULY do not know how to say this, because the fact that I have to say it makes me feel like I am losing my grip on reality. But no, in the post-capitalistic anarchist utopia, I will not be relying on âautistic minecraft girliesâ to be building inspectors because - and this may shock you - one of those occupations takes years of education in how to read and interpret hundreds of thousands of lines of regulations based on complicated math and physics that were the result of decades of tragedy and death, and the other one involves playing a childrenâs video game.

"At the University of Maine, one of the worldâs largest 3D printers is using sawdust from the stateâs lumber industry to 3D print cozy wooden cabins.
Itâs part of a move towards making 3D printing faster and more sustainable in a state where the housing shortage that has metastasized in most states around the country is dire.
Itâs thought that 80,000 new homes will be needed over the next 5 years to keep pace with demand, and though it takes years for building codes to be changed, the technicians at the Advanced Structures & Composites Center (ASCC) at the Univ. of Maine hope their new toy can help address this need.
Guinness World Records certified the machine at ASCC as the worldâs largest prototype polymer 3D printer, capable of creating a 600 square foot house 96 feet in length, 36 feet in width, and 18 feet tall entirely out of bio-based material at a rate of 500 pounds per hour.
In 2022, it could print the walls, floors, and roof of the house in just 96 hours, but the ACSS has been refining the design with the hope of doubling the printing speed and getting it down to a 48-hour timeline.
âWhen theyâre doing concrete, theyâre only printing the walls,â Habib Dagher, the executive director of ACSS told CNN. âThe approach weâve taken is quite different from what youâve seen, and youâve been reading about for years.â
Indeed, GNN has reported on a fair number of 3D printing projects, but most if not all involve printing only the walls. One fantastical exception is an Italian firm that is 3D-printing domed, beehive-like, modular concept homes inspired by the Great Enclosure in Zimbabwe.

This 23-Year-Old Founder is 3D Printing Schools in Madagascar Aiming to be a âStepping Stoneâ for the Community
A Startup Is Using Recycled Plastic to 3D Print Tiny $25,000 Prefabricated Homes in LA
The ASCC is calling the house design the BioHome3D, and says itâs rare people who tour the concept version donât ask when they âcan have one up?â
The interior gives the feel of a modern Scandinavian wooden cabin, making it fit well with the Maine aesthetic. The ASCC is now doing work on how to incorporate conduits for wiring and plumbing âexactly where an architect would want them,â says Dagher.

Limited Financial Literacy and Wealth Management in the Black Community: A Garveyite Perspective
Introduction: Economic Power as the Foundation of Black Liberation
Marcus Garvey understood that political freedom is meaningless without economic independence. He believed that for Black people to be truly free, they had to control their own economies, industries, and institutions. Garvey once stated:
âA race that is solely dependent upon another for its economic existence sooner or later dies.â
Yet, in modern times, the Black community continues to struggle with limited financial literacy, poor wealth management, and economic dependency.
Generational wealth is rarely passed down due to a lack of long-term financial planning.
Black spending power is high, yet most of this wealth flows out of Black communities into white-owned corporations.
Many Black families live paycheck to paycheck, unable to invest in land, businesses, or other wealth-building assets.
From a Garveyite perspective, this lack of financial education and economic control is one of the greatest obstacles to Black liberation. Until Black people master financial literacy and wealth management, they will remain vulnerable to exploitation and economic servitude.
1. The Historical Roots of Black Economic Disempowerment
A. The Legacy of Slavery and Economic Exclusion
During slavery, Black people were denied the right to own property, earn wages, or accumulate wealth.
After emancipation, racist policies such as Black Codes, Jim Crow laws, and sharecropping ensured that Black people remained economically oppressed.
Redlining, discriminatory banking practices, and racist housing policies prevented Black families from building generational wealth.
B. The Destruction of Black Economic Movements
Throughout history, whenever Black people built strong economic foundations, white supremacy actively sabotaged them:
Tulsaâs Black Wall Street (1921) was burned down in one of the worst race massacres in U.S. history.
Rosewood, Florida (1923) was another thriving Black community destroyed by racist mobs.
Marcus Garveyâs Black Star Line was sabotaged by the U.S. government agencies and internal betrayals, preventing Black economic self-sufficiency.
These attacks created a culture of economic fear and dependency, where many Black people stopped believing in their ability to control their own wealth.
C. The Shift Toward Consumerism Over Ownership
Instead of prioritizing land, business ownership, and self-sufficiency, many Black communities have been conditioned to focus on spending rather than investing.
Integration into white economies led to the collapse of many Black-owned businesses, as Black consumers began spending their wealth outside of their own communities.
Today, Black buying power in the U.S. exceeds $1.7 trillion, yet very little of that money stays in Black communities.
This cycle of high spending and low investment keeps Black people economically powerless.
2. The Consequences of Limited Financial Literacy in the Black Community
A. Generational Poverty & Wealth Gaps
The average Black family's wealth is significantly lower than that of white families due to a lack of inherited assets.
Many Black families do not pass down property, businesses, or financial knowledge, forcing each generation to start over.
Without financial literacy, many Black people fall into debt traps, poor credit, and unstable financial situations.
B. Economic Dependency & Vulnerability
Black people remain financially dependent on white-owned banks, businesses, and corporations.
Without economic independence, Black workers are at the mercy of racist hiring practices, wage discrimination, and economic downturns.
The lack of Black-owned financial institutions means Black wealth is constantly controlled by non-Black interests.
C. Lack of Black Business Ownership & Community Development
Only a small percentage of Black businesses receive venture capital, bank loans, or community investment.
Many Black entrepreneurs struggle to scale their businesses due to limited financial education and funding access.
Black neighborhoods often lack grocery stores, banks, and essential businesses, making them reliant on white-owned corporations.
Without strong Black financial networks, Black communities remain economically stagnant.
3. The Garveyite Solution: Financial Literacy as a Tool for Black Liberation
A. Teaching Financial Literacy from an Early Age
Black families must prioritize financial education in the home, teaching children about:
Saving and investing
Credit and debt management
Entrepreneurship and wealth-building
Schools in Black communities should incorporate mandatory financial literacy programs focused on:
Budgeting and money management
Stock market and investment strategies
Real estate and homeownership
Education is the first step toward economic empowerment.
B. Creating Black-Owned Financial Institutions
More Black-owned banks and credit unions must be established to provide financial services that cater to Black economic needs.
Black people should redirect their money into Black-owned banks and investment funds to build community wealth.
Cooperative economics should be prioritized, where Black investors pool resources to fund businesses, real estate, and development projects.
Garvey believed that Black people must control their own financial institutions to ensure true independence.
C. Prioritizing Ownership Over Consumerism
Black people must shift from being consumers to being investors and producers.
Instead of spending billions on luxury brands, Black communities must invest in land, businesses, and industries.
Black celebrities, athletes, and high-income earners should prioritize investing in Black-owned enterprises instead of white-owned corporations.
Wealth accumulation should be about long-term growth, not short-term spending.
D. Rebuilding Black Business Districts & Economic Hubs
Black communities must establish modern "Black Wall Streets" that focus on:
Black-owned banks and financial institutions.
Black manufacturing and production centres.
Pan-African trade networks.
Government policies should be challenged to allocate reparations, land grants, and business funding to Black entrepreneurs.
Economic self-reliance must be a core principle of Black liberation.
4. Action Plan: Steps to Financial Empowerment in the Black Community
A. Individual & Family-Level Actions
Open accounts with Black-owned banks and investment firms.
Teach children about saving, investing, and business ownership from an early age.
Prioritize homeownership and land acquisition over renting and temporary wealth.
B. Community-Level Actions
Establish financial literacy workshops in Black schools, churches, and community centres.
Support Black entrepreneurs and Black-owned businesses by intentionally spending within the community.
Form investment groups and cooperative businesses to pool resources and fund economic initiatives.
C. Global Black Economic Collaboration
African nations and the Black diaspora must create international trade agreements that empower Black businesses.
Encourage Pan-African banking and investment partnerships between Africa, the Caribbean, and Black America.
Develop Black-led multinational corporations that can compete with global industries.
Garvey envisioned a self-sustaining Black economy that connected Africa and the diasporaâthis vision must be revived.
Conclusion: Black Liberation Requires Economic Independence
Garvey warned that:
"A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin, and culture is like a tree without roots." But financial illiteracy is like a tree without soilâwithout economic power, Black liberation is impossible.
If Black people continue to:
Spend instead of invest,
Finance non-Black businesses instead of building their own,
Ignore financial literacy instead of mastering wealth management,
They will remain economically enslaved.
However, if Black people:
Prioritize financial education and generational wealth,
Invest in Black-owned banks, businesses, and industries,
Build economic self-sufficiency through Pan-African cooperation,
Then true Black liberation can be achieved.
Garveyâs call remains: âUp, you mighty race, accomplish what you will!â

In recent years, Republican leaders have criticized FEMA and building codes, saying the regulations are burdensome. Strengthening building codes has historically been opposed by the homebuilding and construction industries over concerns about the cost. Studies show modern building codes have saved billions of dollars in damage from natural disasters.
When Hurricane Andrew hit the coast of Florida in 1992, the Category 5 storm made history as the most destructive and costliest to date. In the aftermath, a team from FEMA inspected the damaged homes, examining the blown-off roofs and exposed walls for what went wrong.
They found a fairly simple item could make a huge difference: a simple metal bracket that secures a roof to the rest of the house. Many home builders were only using nails at the time.
Using that report, Florida officials adopted some of the toughest building codes for hurricanes in the country in 2001, requiring roofs be built to withstand higher winds. That code reduced Florida's losses from wind damage by 72% over 10 years, according to one study.
Since then, FEMA experts have used natural disasters as learning tools to pinpoint how building codes could be improved. That feedback has helped inform the ICC's International Codes or "I-codes", which are now being updated for a 2027 version.
Flood experts say FEMA's withdrawal is a worrisome sign about where the agency is headed under the new administration, given the key role the agency has played in strengthening building codes and supporting local communities in adopting them.
âIt would be not dissimilar from something like: the federal government is no longer interested in the National Transportation Safety Board investigating things like air disasters," Berginnis says. "The fact is we have to study and understand these disasters, why they occur, how our buildings perform, and then we need a strong FEMA to help present some of the analysis and proposals for change."

I made a humans are weird pamphlet
⸝
[Welcome to Earth!]
Diplomatic Briefing Pamphlet: The Human Species
(For Official Use Only â Do Not Leave in Orbit)
⸝
Species Designation: Homo sapiens
Common Names: Humans, Earthlings, Gremlins with God Complexes
Status: Emotionally volatile. Excessively curious. Terminally dramatic.
Threat Level: Vibes-based. Somehow both harmless and extremely dangerous.
⸝
1. General Overview
Humans are a carbon-based bipedal species that developed intelligence, opposable thumbs, and the alarming tendency to either love or destroy everything they encounter.
They are fueled by caffeine, spite, and memes.
Despite their fragile physiology, humans are incredibly persistent. If an environment is considered âinhospitable,â a human will attempt to live there for fun or content.
⸝
2. Cultural Duality
Humanity exists in a state of constant contradiction. Examples include:
Dark Side Wholesome Side
Warhammer 40k Stardew Valley
Doom Eternal Animal Crossing
Final Destination Pride and Prejudice
The Crusades Bake-Off Competitions
Exploiting labor via colonial empires Adopting stray animals and crying
They are simultaneously writing love poems and building orbital death platforms. Proceed accordingly.
⸝
3. Violence (See Also: Sports)
Humans made rules about how to be less evil during war, then immediately violated them. These are called the Geneva Conventions.
They also made sports out of fighting each other for trophies, fame, or vibes.
Favorite pastimes include:
⢠Beating each other senseless in a cage
⢠Running at 40 km/h for fun
⢠Climbing lethal mountains
⢠Jumping out of flying machines
Note: They will say itâs âfor the experience.â
⸝
4. Denial Reflex
Even in the face of literal interstellar beings landing on their lawns, many humans will:
⢠Claim itâs CGI
⢠Blame the government
⢠Insist itâs demons
⢠Ask for merch
They evolved this reflex to avoid existential crises and somehow made it a cultural cornerstone.
⸝
5. Reproduction & Romance (Warning: NSFW)
Human mating behavior is chaotic and often ritualized via elaborate apps, confusing signals, and courtship dances involving memes. They:
⢠Invented robots for companionship
⢠Wrote fanfiction about everything
⢠Made âtentacle romanceâ a genre
⢠Occasionally attempt to seduce supernatural entities
Proceed with caution and boundaries. Consent is important. They learned that⌠eventually.
⸝
6. History (Not for the faint of core)
Earthâs timeline is packed with:
⢠Empires built on slavery
⢠Religious wars over metaphysical real estate
⢠Repeated cycles of âoops, genocideâ
⢠Philosophers who were also warlords
⢠Burning witches. And books. Sometimes both.
They also recorded these events, dramatized them in film, and won awards.
⸝
7. Interaction Tips
⢠If a human offers you food, accept it. Then ask if itâs poisonous. Sometimes it is. They eat it anyway.
⢠Avoid debates unless you have 6 hours to spare and a tolerance for shouting.
⢠They will name you. Prepare to be called âSteveâ or âGary.â
⢠Do not show fear. They can smell it.
⢠Show them a shiny rock and they might worship it or mine it. Possibly both.
⸝
8. Warning List
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE:
⢠Mention their oceans. Even they donât go down there anymore.
⢠Bring up Australia without mental prep.
⢠Assume theyâre peaceful just because theyâre smiling.
⢠Take them to space before explaining that aliens exist.
⢠Say âWarhammer is real.â Some believe it already.
⸝
Final Summary:
Humans are unpredictable, violent, hilarious, empathetic, and incredibly weird.
Theyâll destroy a planet for oil and then cry over a 2-minute animal rescue video.
They are terrifying and lovable, like if a raccoon had a PhD and nuclear codes.
We recommend extreme caution, cultural immersion, and bringing snacks.
⸝
Issued by:
GCIR â Department of Chaotic Species Affairs
Document: Earth-001-HowToHuman (Rev. 2.0 â Updated after Florida Incident)

Pokemon Mini Headcanons
Realized it's been a solid minute since I've shared anything. so! here's some pokemon headcanon tidbits that have kinda been floating around in my head but I don't have anywhere to put them yet:
Barry is extremely tall. Like, at least six feet. Since he's very visibly the goofy type, it's not super intimidating until suddenly he's barreling down the street and nearly knocking people over in his wake. He's also incredibly clumsy, so it's kind of a bull(tauros?)-in-a-china-shop situation.
Leaf is part of the team that revolutionized and maintains the PSS (not part of the original team though, she's too young for that), which is of course led by Bill. Where Bill came up with the, made the team, and did a bunch of hardware stuff, Leaf is in charge of software stuff and does coding for the different programs. As for the rest of the team. well. I don't know who they are bc I haven't gotten that far.
Also, Red's sign name for Leaf is Green, as in, literally the sign for the color (the same goes for Blue). Blue's often calls her Greenie as a result.
As Hoenn's Champion, Brendan is considered a very down-to-earth and blunt person, which is great and all until you remember he's from the â¨ď¸bearimba pokeverseâ¨ď¸'s equivalent of Florida and is basically Reigning Florida Man Supreme. He's definitely done some crazy stuff but it kinda gets shoved on the back burner (that definitely isn't partially because the media pushes his more serious side in order to fight the "all Hoennians are unhinged" allegations).
Lucas is legally deaf (deaf but not Deaf, he lost his hearing as a kid) and uses hearing aids. He can kinda sorta understand people without them, but it's less like he understands the words and more like he understands the sounds that are supposed to be word, so it's way more convenient to keep them in. Whenever he doesn't want to deal with Dawn's and Barry's shenanigans, he just turns them off, closes his eyes, and relishes in the relative peace and quiet.
He's also the one who gets transported back to Hisui during the final battle with Dialga/Palkia/Giratina. Long story short (bearimba DPPt/PLA rewrite when?), his hearing aids get destroyed in the process of getting transported and he's forced to go through the events of PLA at a huge disadvantage, mostly relying on his quick wit and vast knowledge of pokemon to survive the game.
Lorelei, Karen, and Clair are all besties, and they meet up regularly to have brunch and share the latest gossip (aka pooling together their resources to gather info on their enemies, discuss the most recent affairs in Kanto/Johto, and more, all under the guise of "girls' time").
Silver and Janine first meet when Silver gets accidentally caught up in a prank meant for the E4, for which Janine very vehemently apologizes (under threat from Koga) and Silver reluctantly forgives her (under threat from Lance). They get along surprisingly well after that, especially after they both get involved in the Kanto League as gym leaders, and they eventually become pretty good friends.
Team Rocket was kinda just a shady family business until Giovanni took over in his twenties. In the 30ish years he presided over the it, he managed to develop it into a massive, multi-level and multi-department organization with their fingers in just about every aspects of the Kanto economy before their collapse. (all things considered, it's kinda funny/pathetic how things ended---he had all this power, then just threw all that and his kid out the window because some teenager happened to beat him in a pokemon battle)
Indigo Plateau (the actual plateau itself, not the League building) is pretty unique in that it's literally a plateau in the middle of a bunch of mountains. which. isn't really how geography works. Story goes, it was originally a mountain that served as the battleground for a pair of ridiculously overpowered trainers, and it got leveled in the middle of all the fighting. In honor of the plateau's legend, there was a regularly held tournament for pokemon trainers to decide who was the best of the best in the region. Eventually, some guy decided to make it an "official" event, and that's how the Pokemon League got its start before it spread and became an international organization!

With the hurricane in Florida I was wondering how you're doing. I'm glad to see regular posts from you but I'm still worried. đŤ
Thank you for the concern.
I donât live in an evacuation zone nor in a flood zone, plus the home I live in was built after a lot of the building codes were upgraded due to Hurricane Andrew. My parents and I debated a long time whether to stay or leave, and ultimately decided to stay. My brotherâs family went north to our sisterâs home in Gainesville, Florida, which is usually a 2 hour drive but with all the evacuees was more like 5 hours. Fortunately we know to fill up the carâs gas tank when a hurricane heads this way because when the port closes the fuel starts to quickly run out, so he was able to go without worry of running out of gas and being stranded.
That was the worst storm Iâve experienced. The eye of the storm was just south of where I live, which meant much of the worst weather battered us for hours and hours

Most of the county lost power. It took a few days for it to get restored at my house and my brother just got his turned back on yesterday. No power, no a/c, no internet, no hot showers, reminded me why I donât like camping.

The home I share with my parents did well. We have taken steps over the years to prepare. The main damage was we lost the backyard fence. Itâs crazy to see those two metal poles of the fence bent over

My brother had a giant tree fall directly in front of his home. He was very fortunate it didnât land on the house. Plus if he hadnât evacuated, the tree wouldâve fallen on his cars which he usually parks in front of the garage. With help of friends he got the tree cut up and out of the way.

Iâll spare you too many details, but driving around thereâs lots of fallen trees, lots of fences knocked over, lots of business signs and billboards which are broken and shredded. I see lots of builders repairing damaged roofs.
We received 18 inches of rainfall in a 24-hour period, so thereâs water in places Iâve never seen it and the local rivers were still in flood stage a few days after the storm as that rainfall slowly runs off.
This morning on my way to work, I saw many electric line worker vehicles heading north. Their job to get power restored in this area is done

My stake has spent the past week helping each other and plans are this weekend we will finish helping the members who need help and will begin helping others in the area.
For at least the next two weeks, the wards which share a building will be doing a joint sacrament mtg and then letting everyone go so they can be part of work crews

Excerpt from this story from CNN:
William Fulford moved from Virginia Beach, Virginia, to a new waterfront development in Florida in 2023. Nestled between Sarasota Bay and the southwestern part of Tampa Bay, the new home by Bradenton Beach was everything Fulford, a retired custom homebuilder, ever wished for.
The developers of the new Hunters Point community, Pearl Homes, billed the property as the first ânet-zeroâ single-family home development in the US, meaning residents produce more energy from solar panels than they need, with the excess energy either being stored or sold back to the grid â in a state where most electricity is generated by burning natural gas, a planet-warming fossil fuel.
They also boast some of the most sustainable, energy-efficient and hurricane-proof homes in the country: The streets surrounding the homes are intentionally designed to flood so houses donât. Power and internet lines are buried to avoid wind damage. The sturdy concrete walls, hurricane-proof windows and doors are fortified with a layer of foam insulation, providing extra safety against the most violent storms.
Climate resiliency and storm protection were built into the fabric of the homes. And while the newly developed homes have endured a few storms since people moved in around February 2023, Hurricanes Helene and Milton put those features to the true test over the last two weeks.
Most of the residents living in Hunters Point heeded the mandatory evacuations ahead of Hurricane Miltonâs landfall but Fulford, 76, stayed behind with wife, Sueann, just as they did during Hurricane Helene last month.
They stocked up on water and groceries. Fulford moved the car to higher ground. He tied up all patio and back deck furniture together. They brought everything from the garage, which made up the entire ground floor, up to the living spaces on the second floor. And, in the event of a worst-case scenario, Sueann insisted on getting life preservers.
âIâm just quite convinced that the strength and everything in this house. They built a great house, a strong house,â Fulford said. âAnd I just feel comfortable. I feel like weâre high enough up, even if we get a storm surge.â
When Gobuty started the design process for Hunters Point, it was imperative the homes be able to withstand Category 5 hurricanes. Itâs the first residential development to get a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) net-zero certification in the world, according to the US Green Building Council.
Each of the three-story homes are designed like this: The ground floor is a garage designed with flood vents to drain rising water. The living spaces start on the second floor, which is intentionally built 16 feet above sea level. From the roof to its foundation, steel straps secure the entire structure. Solar panels are attached to the roofsâ raised vertical seams to prevent them from flying off.
The property also sits in a major flood zone, which meant the homes needed to be elevated to meet Floridaâs building codes. Still, the developers went beyond the required 3 feet of fill dirt and used 7 feet instead to be safe.
