The Advantages of Guitar Lessons
Guitar lessons provide numerous advantages, making them an excellent choice for anyone looking to learn the instrument. One of the primary benefits is having a skilled instructor who can provide personalized guidance. They can assess your current abilities, identify areas for improvement, and tailor lessons to suit your needs. This individual attention accelerates your progress and helps you avoid common mistakes.
Additionally, guitar lessons offer a structured learning path. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by the vast amount of information available online, lessons provide a step-by-step approach, ensuring that you grasp the fundamentals before moving on to more advanced techniques. This systematic progression instills confidence and motivation, keeping you engaged and eager to learn.
Different Approaches to Learning Guitar
When it comes to guitar lessons, there are various approaches to consider. Private lessons provide the advantage of one-on-one instruction, allowing you to receive immediate feedback and personalized attention. Private lessons are particularly beneficial for those seeking in-depth knowledge, specialized training, or a specific playing style.
Group lessons offer a collaborative and interactive environment. Learning alongside fellow guitar enthusiasts fosters a sense of camaraderie, provides opportunities for ensemble playing, and encourages you to push your boundaries. Group lessons are often more affordable and allow you to learn from others' experiences and perspectives.
In recent years, online guitar lessons have gained popularity due to their flexibility and accessibility. Online platforms offer a wide range of instructional videos, interactive exercises, and forums where you can connect with instructors and fellow learners. Online lessons provide the convenience of learning at your own pace, anytime and anywhere, making them ideal for busy individuals or those without easy access to physical lesson locations.
Essential Tips for Successful Practice
To maximize your progress during guitar lessons, incorporating effective practice habits is essential. Here are some valuable tips to help you make the most of your practice sessions:
a. Establish a routine: Set aside dedicated time for practice each day or week. Consistency is key to building muscle memory and reinforcing what you've learned.
b. Focus on technique: Pay attention to proper hand positioning, posture, and technique from the beginning. Correcting any bad habits early on will save you time and frustration in the long run.
c. Start slow and gradually increase speed: When learning new songs or techniques, start at a comfortable pace and gradually increase speed as you become more comfortable. This approach builds accuracy and prevents sloppiness.
d. Practice with a metronome: Using a metronome helps develop a sense of timing and improves your ability to play in rhythm. Start at a slower tempo and gradually increase the speed as you improve.
e. Break it down: When learning complex pieces, break them down into smaller sections and focus on mastering each section individually. Once you feel confident, gradually piece them together.
f. Enjoy the process: Remember to have fun and enjoy the journey. Playing the guitar is a creative outlet, so allow yourself to explore and experiment with different styles and genres.
Guitar lessons provide a structured and supportive environment for aspiring musicians of all levels. Whether you choose private lessons, group sessions, or online platforms, the guidance and expertise of instructors will accelerate your learning. By incorporating effective practice habits and staying motivated, you'll unlock your musical potential and embark on a fulfilling journey with the guitar.
So, seize the opportunity, embrace the challenges, and let the strings of your guitar carry you to new heights of musical expression.

Trailer park Steve AU part 48
part 1 | part 47 | ao3
cw: mentions of smoking/sexual activity
Chapter 11
February
For two and a half months, Steve’s life goes perfectly. He didn’t realize how far into a pit he’d fallen until Eddie showed up to help Robin and the kids lift him out, but the difference is jarring. Golden hour sunlight after catching a matinée.
Steve spends two months blinking.
He sloughs off his sadness like a snake shedding skin; spends the winter getting back to being Steve, restocks his favorite hair products and restarts his fitness routines — morning runs through the woods, afternoon pick-up games with Lucas and some of his teammates when the weather doesn’t suck. Weightlifting in the evenings because Eddie says he likes how Steve’s arms look when they get a little big, says it’s more fun to pin him down when he knows it’s just for show.
And he tries new things, too, just because Eddie likes them or because the kids think they're cool. He reads a Vonnegut novel. He eats Indian curry. He even learns a song on guitar.
...Sort of.
Eventually.
(Actually, that whole thing goes pretty horribly and takes for-fucking-ever. Eddie spends an afternoon patiently encouraging him and doing his best not to tease while Steve clumsily moves through a beginner chord progression, and then breaks down wheezing when, after the sixth attempt with no improvement, Steve puts the guitar down in a huff and threatens to demote his pinky finger from his hand if it doesn't start cooperating. Eddie laughs so hard he tips face-first into Steve's crotch, and it takes them a sticky-spitty-sweaty half hour to get back to the lesson.)
Anyway, he likes the way their lives entangle. As easy as weaving his hands through Eddie’s hair.
He gets invited to band practice; he sits in on D&D. Sometimes he watches sports with Wayne when he's got a day off, then he heads out with Eddie for long joyrides through the countryside.
Eddie blasts his metal music when they get out to the backroads, and he talks too loudly over the bass and laughs even louder and rants about nothing and smokes cigarettes while he headbangs to his favorite guitar solos — almost lights his hair on fire on more than one occasion, fucking dumbass — and he does this silly, lewd shit that makes Steve's chest just ache. Makes it clench around the word that's been burning a hole in his tongue since New Year's Eve. Eddie wags his brows and palms himself through his jeans and asks if Steve wants to take another joyride when they get home, and Steve thinks:
God, I love you.
I love you.
How could I not love you?
And really, how could he not? And how much longer can he keep not telling him so? When it feels like the word is going to burst out of his chest Alien-style any second.
When it feels like Eddie's the reason he even has a home to get to.
Slowly — so slowly, hours spent thrifting and bartering and keeping an eye out for free stuff left out on the curb, even more hours sanding and painting and caulking and sweating to death between trips to the hardware store — they redo Steve's whole trailer. Floor to ceiling, wall to wall, they exorcise the haunted tin can. They make it his; they make it theirs.
Eddie injects life into every inch of the space, fills it with weird art and funky lamps and a big, comfy leather couch that he likes to bend Steve over. Comes inside him in every room when they get done working on it as a reward; gasps in Steve's ear about how he always wants to be inside him: in his home, in his body, nestled deep inside his heart. "Keep me right here, baby," he breathes as he fucks Steve against a wall, his left hand gripping Steve's chest while he fills him from behind.
It’s perfect.
It's perfect.
Everything is beautiful and nothing hurts unless Steve asks.
And then, because this godforsaken town and everyone in it are fucking cursed, one day it isn’t anymore.

Band AU Playlist Expansions- Part 2 (11-15)
Obligatory playlist here, Part One here, Bullet Points Here
Here's the lore behind songs 11-15. None of the songs on the playlist apply to the scene I posted recently (here -> :) } but I wanted to get this out since I've added a few more songs to the playlist (almost to 30 baybe)
More on the JimCurl side than a general side, a little suggestive in some descriptions
Anyways! The worms :)
_____P--L--E--A--S--E----E--N--J--O--Y_____
11.) … But Pretend I’m A Beginner (TheDooo)- A song that Curly and Jimmy share early in their lessons together. Jimmy is on the main melody and Curly is on the scream vocals. Anya does drums during their practice sessions (when both of them become brave enough to practice in front of others). Its hard for Curly to keep up on his guitar while he’s learning to control his vocals, but Jimmy’s silent encouragement is all it takes for him to keep trying. It’s a while until it’s concert-ready, but Swansea deems them worthy after Through Hell happens. They perform Ængus The Prize-Winning Hog and get off stage. Swansea stops them (“What the hell was that stunt you two pulled out there… Good shit, do that other song now.”) Then it’s really hard for Jimmy not to ravage that man on stage cause how does someone look that good sweating and out of breath? Well… Now that I say it out loud…
12.) buckshot boy (Onlyfriend)- Jimmy writes this (either right before or right after) he confesses to Curly and they decide to try a relationship! Jimmy’s gotten in the habit of workshopping his songs at open mics (sometime’s Curly follows him to hear what he’s working because he knows it might be months before it ever gets back to him) and he’s dumped so much of his insecurity into this song (“You command the room just like you do, just like I dont”)- It feels better shouting into a void of strangers than talking it through with someone he has a connection with (open mic lowkey becomes his therapy). Curly follows him to this particular night after literally not having the time to see him. Jimmy notices him at the end of the song, standing in the darkest corner next to the bar. He rushes off stage and out of a fire exit, Curly chases after him and they end up in a dead end alleyway… :)
The tone is too pop-y for his initial liking, so he tries to add some harsher vocals into it. It never makes it to concert-readiness, but Tulpar will use it as a warm-up. Jimmy would die before he told anyone the meaning, but he usually doesn't share anyways. They figure he must be pining for someone. Anya and Daisuke take secret bets on who it might be and even Swansea gets in on the action (lowkey the stage crew when they overhear practice)
13.) Chucky vs The Giant Tortoise (Dance Gavin Dance)- A song Jimmy and Curly share. They wrote it together after their first big concert, riding the high of being loved by hundreds and having their name fill a room that fits thousands. Jimmy likes to sneak in nonsense lyrics because he knows that half the time no one can tell what he’s saying. It’s a good half-time song because they will get silly with each other on stage. They do a little dance during the opening stanza into the first verse. They link their free arms around each other and do a motion like they’re sharing a drink through it all. They come apart and do a little shimmy in the first and second lines of the first verse (For context: But failure is painful and dying is fun” is the arms. “Dress code, cocktails, looking so fancy, We feel like we’re a little bit classy,” is the shimmy. hehehehe)
14.) What He Dont Know- Curly wrote this after Jimmy confided in him about a certain fantasy. Along with his degradation kink (we all saw it coming), Jimmy has a bit of a cheating fantasy. They’ve talked about it in length during their freshman year of college, and then more in depth a few months into their relationship.
No one else knows this but Jimmy and it secretly turns him on when they perform it. One day after they’re together they act on the fantasy, and every performance afterward has Jimmy replying that night over and over in his head.
Unfortunately, Curly has a sexy front-man image to uphold, so he works it for the fans and does all of his moves to the audience instead of on Jimmy’s face. Jimmy gets jealous. Every performance ends in a messy dressing room.
15.) All I Want (A Day To Remember)- A song Jimmy wrote and worked on with Curly during the aftermath of his parents death. Without his parents, Jimmy feels disconnected from the world. They felt like his only tethers. Now that they were gone, Jimmy felt free, but simply free-floating. Through the air, undefined by gravity or guilt or shame. And when Curly brings him back to the ground this song follows.

Detective Izuku Stuff
Previous Post!
So I mentioned Kyoka, Denki, and Mei in my last post... And I decided to say: "Why not?" And elaborated upon their roles and stuff for my entertainment.
Kyoka Jiro (She/They)
After her parents passed away due to a villain attack gone wrong, the hero that landed the blow on the complex got away with it scot free, leading Kyoka to stir in anger. They were about to enter a villainous path before being caught by Rody and brought to Izuku, with her skills of espionage, they managed to catch the hero responsible in some shady shit and convict him. Kyoka then became part of Izuku's duo with all the determination of a wolf in front of prey. She joined the Cozy Agency in all but paperwork, and helps the duo by infiltrating hero spaces to gain information for them. After some time, they decided to take the Yuuei entrance exam with Denki and Mei. She works with Izuku well due to a friendship cultivated by a love of music, and as Izuku is, he tells them about all the different uses and possible makings of their quirk: information gathering wise, detective work wise, and even offensively. Her hero costume was designed by Izuku and support items by Mei. Kyoka rekindles her love for music with the little group they cultivated, and they occasionally play gigs for local Musutafu bars. Currently, they live in an apartment next to Izuku and Rody's and is working to become a hero while juggling her music career and side quests with the Cozy Agency.
Denki Kaminari (All/Any), emphasis on He
Denki was bullied extensively at his school due to the kickback of his quirk and perceived intelligence. He never told his pro-hero mother and was never close enough with his father to warrant telling him anything, really. Eventually, when a hero came by to give the entire student body a speech, Denki was publicity humiliated by said hero for his inabilities and quirk inhibitions before running away from his household. Rody would then find Denki squatting in a dilapidated building just south of their apartment complex and brought him to Izuku, who managed to get Denki to spill the beans before completely annihilating this hero's career. The other, seeing Izuku and Rody and his heroes of sort, decided to visit the Agency consistently to hang out and get to know them. Eventually, Denki started getting lessons on hacking thanks to Izuku and stared cultivating his own skills regarding it. Denki would soon surpass Izuku in his ability to hack and became part of the Cozy Agency unofficially in order to help take down corruption. It would be later when Denki and Kyoka (Kyoka joined first) decided to attend Yuuei together in order to become heroes. He occasionally takes guitar lessons from Kyoka, but is still at beginner level, though he has a killer singing voice and joins Kyoka in her gigs after running away from home and moving in with them. KamiJiro is not canon, but I adore their friendship so it will live on
Mei Hatsume (She/Her)
Mei and Izuku met while he was investigating an odd case with Rody, Hatsume Industries was questioned and while they were getting the information Izuku and Rody needed, Mei decided to ambush them in her usual manner. Izuku and Mei became fast friends and the girl was absolutely fascinated with their work. Of course, they couldn't tell her anything confidential, but Rody told her where they worked and to come if she needed anything. And oh boy did she visit them often. Of course, most of it were friendly visits, however... One day, Mei came in with grievances against a hero that had physically assaulted the workers in Hatsume Industries, and Izuku handled it flawlessly. It was then Mei offered her services to the Cozy Agency, and thus became the first actually official and legal third member of the little detectives' agency. She would then help create support items, including Izuku's subtle communication lenses and pen that can turn into a spear. And Rody's customised revolvers and subtle communication tie clip. She also helped to create both Kyoka and Denki's support items in the near future after they were accepted into Yuuei. I mean, she bullied her way into it but still.
So yeah! That's them <3

vent! pls feel free to ignore idk why im posting this. cw talking about anxiety, low self esteem.
I just had a guitar lesson one on one for the first time (my dad has sat in with me every other time [ik thats childish but idc it's scary ok]) and holy shit sjsjrnrbrjeje im in pain just cringing at how awkward I am I hate guitar lessons but I love guitar too much to quit and my parents would kill me if I did so im stuck for now. God why can't I go to like a beginner guitar group. that's what I did for ukulele and i still hated myself but i hated myself slightly less (tbf I was like 9 so me being shy was cute. now I'm older [autocorrect made older odder and i felt that deep in my bones] so me being shy is just weird). my guitar teacher is always trying to get me to relax but i can't like genuinely i cant even fake it. it's not the doing it in front of him that's making me shy which is what he seems to think it's my inability to talk to adults that aren't my parents. srsly I have a neighbour who I've known since I was like 5 and she's basically family and i still get awkward talking to her one on one 😭 plus the way my teacher teaches just doesn't work for me tbh. he does everything by being like ok watch me do it then suddenly ull magically be able to like no that's not how life works u have to teach me everything individually and i think he caught me looking at the clock while he was playing bc i looked and then he looked immediately after and that's a psychology thing if you check your watch then anyone watching will do it after you bc now they wanna know the time too so i think he hates me now and ahsiekdkdk sorry about this i just have to get it out there if ur reading this um I'm rly sorry ill probably get super embarrassed and delete this soon

I have a question maybe you can help with me with. I’m not musically trained and I suppose that makes me an amateur singer. However how would I find out what range I am? I don’t have a the slightest idea what I am. I say because I’m female but sometimes singing alto is difficult a friend said I’m contralto but I’m not sure what I could be. Any thoughts on how I could figure it out?
I’ve got a little tip that might help!
But first, please remember that classifying someone as soprano/mezzo/contralto is tricky, and it’s not just about vocal range. It’s easy to be misclassified—for example, some people are told they’re mezzo because they can’t hit high notes, but that’s often due to a lack of technique. After proper voice lessons, they might discover they’re actually sopranos. Similarly, dramatic sopranos are sometimes mistaken for contraltos.
However! It’s natural to be curious about your voice type, and that’s okay! The key is not to label yourself too quickly or get stuck thinking “omg, I’m a soprano, and I can’t sing this, this and this”. Singing should be fun, and it’s hard to enjoy it if you’re constantly focus on what you can’t do. If a song is too low or too high, just change the key and have fun!
Sorry for the long intro, lol, but I felt it was important to mention this.
Now, as I said, finding your true vocal range can be hard if you’re untrained, but you can always give it a try! Start by finding your chest voice range—this is a register we speak in. Don’t think of it as singing, think of it as speaking. Try singing something low (even something as simple as Happy Birthday) and see how low you can comfortably go.
Next, let’s check your head voice. This register is tricky because we don’t use it in daily life, so here’s a fun exercise: pretend you’re… a vacuum cleaner! (I know it sounds strange, but it works, and it’s also great for developing a head voice). Sing a melody on the “OO” vowel. If your voice breaks, you might be in your middle range, and this is normal (many untrained or beginner singers describe the middle range as a hole in their voice). Keep going higher to see if you can find your highest comfortable note.
You have to stay totally relaxed during this! Tension won’t help. If you crack, that’s okay! You won’t hurt yourself!
Also, it’s normal if you can’t recognise the note you’re singing by ear! A good tip is to download a guitar tuner app—it will show you exactly what note you’re singing.
This method will help you discover your current range. If you can reach a high C or B, you’re probably a soprano. If you can’t sing higher than F5 but you can comfortably sing as low as E3, you might be a contralto. If you’re somewhere in between, you could be a mezzo. Also, consider the timbre of your speaking voice—light and high sopranos tend to speak in a higher pitch, while lower voices and dramatic sopranos often have a deeper speaking voice.
I hope that helps! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
