“Happy birthday, Feyre.” You murmured with a soft smile, giving your dear friend a one armed hug, as the other arm was cradling an infant. Your daughter. 

She offered a small smile, carefully returning the hug, her free hand coming up to caress your daughter's cheek gently. “Thank you. . . I hope you and Rhys didn't do too much this year.” 

You gave her a knowing look and hummed softly, the twinkling fae lights glimmering in your eyes like captured starlight. “We did what you asked. Nothing elaborate. I promise.” You smiled, hearing the three Illyrian males arrive from their traditional Solstice escapades. 

“Where's your son?” Feyre asked after a few moments of silence, finally pulling away from the hug to look at you. 

“The last I saw, Elain took him to decorate the sugar cookies.” You replied with an air of amusement, just as the door opened. Rhysand kicked the snow off his shoes at the door before entering, heading straight for you. 

“Ah, two of my favorite ladies right here.” He crooned, cupping your cheeks with his cold hands, making you shiver slightly as he pressed a gentle kiss to your lips. “Happy Solstice, darling.” He muttered against your lips.

“Happy Solstice, Rhys.” You murmured in return, pressing one more kiss to his lips before you pulled back and gave him a look. 

“Go warm your hands up.” Your gaze traveled to Azriel and Cassian next. “All three of you. Now. . . We'll open gifts once the three of you are warm, and once the kids are finished decorating cookies with their Aunt Elain.” 

“Yes ma'am.” Rhys smirked, kissing your forehead and your daughter's before he sauntered off with Cassian and Azriel following close behind. 

You watched in amusement as Cassian slipped into the kitchen, presumably to check in on the progress of the cookies, and snag a couple to hold over until the large dinner you helped prepare.

Within minutes, every male in the house was beckoning everyone to the living room. . . Well, every male except Azriel and Lucien. 

When you entered, Rhysand was practically holding your son back from the large pile of presents where he could clearly see his name written on several gifts wrapped in shimmering blue paper. 

Cassian and his daughter looked just as excited, Nesta's pointed look being the only thing that was keeping both her husband and daughter from pouncing on the gifts beneath the thoroughly decorated tree. 

“Uncle Lucien to the rescue.” The male with fire-red hair hummed quietly as your daughter reached her tiny, chubby hands towards him. 

You passed her over to him with a small smile, listening as he quietly spoke to her, declaring himself as the favorite uncle. A title he and Cassian were unknowingly fighting over. 

You quickly settled on Rhysand's lap. The arm that wasn't actively being used to hold your son back, wrapped around your waist and his lips pressed gently against your shoulder. 

“Release the terrors.” He murmured in amusement as he finally let your son go, the boy immediately going for the gifts marked with his name.

You laughed softly and Cassian snorted, standing from the couch just in time for his daughter to slide to a stop in front of her gifts that were wrapped in silver, marked with her name. 

The two older children began tearing into the presents, Cassian going around and distributing the other wrapped gifts to the adults in the room, before settling back on the couch, his arm draped over the back of the couch with his fingers tracing lazy circles on Nesta's shoulder. 

Azriel sat in an armchair, watching the scene with love for the two excited children swirling in the depths of his hazel irises. The corner of his lips twitched imperceptibly, threatening a smile when your son's gasp of glee met his ears, followed quickly by the squeal of excitement from the girl. 

They had both opened his gifts at the same time.

Rhysand let out a low whistle when your son held the gift up towards you and your mate, flashing a bright grin as if he had just won the jackpot. 

He may as well have. 

Both children got daggers that were currently fake, but they would shift to be the real deal as their skills improved. The gift had been cleared with both sets of parents, several times before they were even purchased. 

“What do you say to your uncle Azzie?” You mused, flashing a grin at the Shadowsinger who momentarily looked annoyed at the use of the nickname, before both children yelled out thank you's. 

It didn't take long for the children to open their gifts. The completion of that part then prompted the adults to open their gifts. 

You hid a smirk as you knew the chaos that was about to ensue when the Illyrian males opened the gifts from you, Feyre, and Mor. 

Mor hid her grin behind the mug of spiked eggnog she was sipping on, while Feyre was struggling to hold back a laugh. 

“The three of you have to open these ones together.” You tapped the bottom box in Rhysand's lap that was wrapped in red, as you shifted to sit on the floor, somewhere between Feyre and Mor, to watch the moment from the best seat in the house. 

Identical boxes sat in Cassian's and Azriel's laps. 

Rhysand raised his eyebrows and shifted the boxes so the one on the bottom of his pile was now on top.

You and your two closest friends watched with bated breaths as they opened the gifts. 

It was amusing to watch their reactions shift from confusion to shock, and then amusement or, in Azriel's case, a look that screamed ‘what did I do to deserve this?’

You couldn't hold back your laughter as Rhysand and Cassian held up what had been in the boxes, Azriel reluctantly following behind with a sigh. 

Each male held up a pair of identical black lounging pants, though each pair was different in their own way. Each pair had their names on the ass in silver glitter. 

Cassian set down his three unopened gifts and practically ran out of the room, returning a few minutes later, proudly wearing the pants that had been gifted to him. 

You laughed harder, your legs subconsciously crossing as you leaned up against Mor's chair, so you didn't fall over. 

“Yeah, jokes on you little Miss High Lady, I love them.” Cassian struck a pose, pointing at you. Practically the whole room bursted out into laughter. 

“Good!” You managed to get out as you finally began to calm down. “Oh, gods.” You chuckled, wiping the tears of laughter from your cheeks. 

“I'll give you your gift later.” Rhysand announced casually with a sly smirk in your direction.

Butterflies fluttered in your stomach involuntarily, though you raised your eyebrows, your gaze subtly shifting between your two children, before your attention landed back on your mate. 

“Ah. . . The gift that keeps on giving.” You laughed softly. 

His smirk broadened; Cassian let out a low whistle. 

One Solstice a few years back, that very same gift resulted in the conception of your son. . . The same gift on Starfall the year prior resulted in the conception of your daughter.

So it was, indeed, the gift that kept on giving.

The blade presses low and tight against the curve of Jaheira’s neck. The assassin smiles coldly. “Not so tough now, are ya, Harper?” he hisses.

Jaheira remains perfectly still, her eyes flicking around rapidly as she examines her position. 

The assassin is a sallow half-elf whose ice-blue eyes are almost obscured by the overhang of his hood. His dark cloak melds him with the shadowy night around them; Jaheira can see the subtle outline of a winged serpent embroidered in his tunic. Zhentarim, then.

She should really have been expecting this, in light of the smuggling operation they just broke up near Waterdeep. It was the largest nest of Zhent they've rooted out in some time and (she sincerely hopes) crippled the group’s slaving operations for the immediate future - but a noise that big doesn't go unnoticed by the sort of people who have sharp knives and are ready to use them. 

And this Zhent knows his business, that’s certain. His weight is carefully distributed across his feet while keeping her pinned to the tree behind her, and the knife is positioned to give her little room to maneuver. He deliberately waited until she had no energy left for a wildshape, and even if she did, she’s not confident her enemy wouldn't be anticipating it. Her pulse quickens with sudden adrenaline as the reality of the danger sets in.

“You have the advantage of me, it seems,” she says, deliberately keeping her voice even and conversational so as not to betray any fear.

The man's smirk deepens unpleasantly. “That's the idea. We know all about ya, y'know… Jaheira. Know ya put together that raid on our people last week. So I've got some payment I need t’ extract.”

If she can just get leverage with one leg, she twist out of his grip… but no. He senses the shift of her weight and moves almost automatically to counterbalance it, his knee shoving against her hip. 

She sighs and swivels her head carefully, trying to look past his shoulder. 

He snorts. “What're ya lookin’ for, girlie?” he asks mockingly. “Gonna call down a flock of birds? Like I said - we know all about you. Why d'you think I chose this moment t’ drop in? I know you do your scouting alone.”

One of Jaheira's eyebrows quirks up and she finally can't help it. She grins. 

“Your information is out of date,” she says.

The Zhent's eyes bug wide and he cries out in startled pain as a heavy boot kicks the back of his knee, staggering him off-balance, followed by a gauntleted sucker punch at the small of his back that stuns him briefly to immobility. Khalid, surging out of the darkness, gets one arm around the man's neck and yanks him backwards; with his other hand, he strikes the Zhent's wrist, knocking the dagger out of his hand. 

“Oh, my,” he says as he hauls the Zhent backwards, giving Jaheira room to slip free of the wall. His voice is almost casual - but Jaheira knows him far too well to be fooled. She can hear the ice in it, and the way his usual nervous stammer has hardened out in the moment of crisis. “Are you getting my wife into trouble?” 

Jaheira snorts. “Getting himself into trouble, more like,” she says, dusting herself off. “Once again we are underestimated.” She clicks her tongue with mock-disappointment. “The last time he will make that mistake.”

“Let me go!” the Zhent growls, his voice strangled by the pressure of Khalid's arm on his throat; the stunned moment is fading and he starts to struggle fiercely in Khalid's grip. 

“As you wish,” Khalid says mildly. With a sharp jerk, he releases the other man and at the same time twists sideways so they're facing each other. Before the Zhent has time to react, Khalid lands a punch directly between his eyes; his head snaps back and he goes over like a felled tree, hits the dirt, and is still. 

Silence, and then the chirp and buzz of insects reasserts itself around them. Jaheira relaxes with a low chuckle. “Well struck.”

“Are you hurt, m-my love?” Khalid asks, turning to face her. His eyes trace searchingly over her from head to foot, looking for signs of injury. 

She smiles affectionately, hearing his stammer return as the moment eases. “I am fine. He had no chance to truly strike me. Besides…” She scoffs dramatically.” I could have handled him.”

“I've n-n-no doubt of it, Khalid says earnestly. “All the same, I'm g-glad I was here.”

“As am I.” In spite of her airy manner, the pulse of adrenaline still sits heavy in her throat, and she takes a few steps closer to him automatically, slipping her hand into his. The warmth of his palm is grounding, comforting. “Much easier with two.”

He lifts her hand to his lips, pressing a kiss to her knuckles. Then he crouches down to begin rifling through the unconscious man's pockets. She raises an eyebrow, seeing that he is grinning giddily to himself as he does so. 

“And just what is that look for?” she asks, amused. 

His head ducks and he gives a sheepish little chuckle that is just this side shy of a giggle. “M-my wife,” he says. “That was the f-f-first time I c-could call you m-m-my wife on a mission.” He looks up at her, his eyes bright and dancing in the dimness. “It f-f-felt wonderful.”

The adoring expression on his face sends a full-body shiver through her. “It did, didn't it?” she murmurs. 

It's still so new, with the wedding only a week behind them. In many ways nothing has changed, but that strange and everpresent delight still lingers in the back of her mind. And it spikes up in little bursts at the oddest times - a word, a glance, a touch, anything that reminds her that the bond is made and she has him for the rest of their lives. 

She ruffles his hair where it peeks from beneath his helmet at the base of his neck, and is gratified to feel his subtle, eager squirm at the touch. “Well then, my husband,” she says with a soft laugh. “Let us get back to camp. I enclose something of it in this letter. Maybe we together can work something out, maybe even in Metal Destruction…? You asked of releases, if we need some artworks for that... Well we rarely give out much and as for the next release we'll probably have some photograph instead. But if we would need something that you might feel for help us out with I'll tell of it. So what we can use drawings for is for stuff like flyers, ads and letter­pages. So far I have done the drawings for that... well the main reason of that is that we have a (old!) xerox mashine and I'm the one in the band that 'can' draw. It's not so often that I have time left to spend hours or sometimes days by making drawings and too many don't like that kind of drawings I make (but fuck them wimps!). But onto the Deathlike Silence Prod. now. The 2nd edition of the 1st release on DSP. - Merciless is out now, the one you get here as promo. We're looking for distributors everywhere and everybody who can sell 10 (or more) records will receive a copy for free + that 10 records will be cheaper. As soon as this the 2nd ed. has paid, Imperator will go in studio.

Imperators LP will contain 8-10 songs (depending on how many "old demo songs" they'll use - but it'll be new trax as well) and it'll be entitled "The time before time". After that it'll probably be the colombian Masacre as the next release. Masacre will be very soon release a 7- inches with 3 demo songs on the greek label Scene of Love. That's a new started label and I hope they can give out enough copies, not limited ed. of it. Of course we give the bands free hands and they're not bounded to use at all, but I'm thinking of the fact that Masacre is selling so much... Only in Colombia their 1st, and only demo sold 1000 copies ( which is more than our Deathcrush demo has sold worldwide...). We can only press up 1000 copies each time of every edition of DSP, and the first ed. Of Merciless sold out as fast as we could pack and post it. This second ed. we recieved [received] for not a so long time ago will depend on how much stamps we can get, of how soon it'll sell out. In Norway it's very hard to sell records - it's far away from USA or South America and I don't think any real scene exists here. Do you think you can take care of some distribution/selling of DSP releases, or you maybe know someone else who's interested? [True dedication]. I think Merciless will be very easy to sell in Italy. Many zines exists there and we recieve many letters from there also. We also sell other records (given out by various underground labels) but it can be so different of what records of others releases we sell 'cos we usually don't get so many of them, so they sell out so soon. Now over to Mayhem. For the first time we've been in studio and recorded 2 songs (first time with this line-up I mean). It'll be released on Chicken Brain Records, a swedish kind of underground label some time in this autumn. It'll be 8-19 other (swedish) bands on it, among them Merciless. I don't know the title of this compilation LP/CD. Our songs that'll be on it are "The Freezing Moon" and "Carnage". The Freezing Moon is a new one and pretty different from our other songs, as example it's a long guitar solo on a very long Doom part on it and that's because we wanted to have a solo at only one track (of our new ones). Carnage was made in '85 (!) so it's really old. It was on the 1st demo/reh - Pure Fucking Armageddon (released in only 100 copies and not available) but with the thought of the very bad sound on it we feeled for playing it again and try to keep the original sound of it. I'll tape these trax for ya but I'm not so sure of if it'll be enclosed in this letter or if I'll put this letter togeather [together] with the Merciless record but anyhow you'll get this tape. You can record it to others if you like to but please don't trade it, and I'll record some else bands too for filling out the rest of the tape. Have you heard of the INCREADIBLY KILLING GREAT band Tormentor from Hungary? Their demo is about 4 years old but it sounds like the Death/Black metal bands of today. We try to find out if they want a deal on DSP. But unfortunately they hardly speak any English at all so it seems like neither them or us understood it... We think of releasing a full-lengtht LP of Mayhem but it seems to take a fucking longtime before we got material enough for it... The only we know about it is a title that MUST be used - De Mysteriis Dom. Sathanas. That was about all future plans I can tell of I guess. I look forward to see Metal Destruction. There's a possibility that we can sell it also, but I can't say if for sure.

About Satanism... well, I'd like to join a very underground and Illful, Evil and Grim Coven. I think you know of the hassles by finding any or getting any contact with a such. I do NOT like what's created by Anton LaVey like 1st Church of Satan. I came in contact with a dude who's a degree in the American Satans Sons - Church of Satan and he explained of it has nothing to do with LaVey at all. I asked of if it does exist in Europe also and of what it is exactly... well he didn't reply. But I heard later thet Satans Sons shall exist in Europe but I still don't know in which countries it is. In Norway it's not much of this, but in Sweden (-I am swedish) that 1st Church shall be in Stockholm (the capital there) and it shall be about 5 churches built by satanic sects, used only by satanists, mostly it's under christian churches - like the one under "Mariakyrkan" (Mary's Church) in the South of Stockholm where the 1st Church of Satan use to hang around at. However, it's someone I know who's had many out of body experiences and is using magic of various kinds and knows much more than I do of "supernatural" experiences, that I asked of this 'cos it was so strange about those colours. She told me that the first 'plane' in the astral world has the colour blue. The "earthly" plane has the colour black, then comes a grey one that is very near the earthly one and is easy to come to. The next one further is blue, and then it gets brighter and brighter till it "stops" at a white-shining one that can't be entered by mortals. IF any mortal succee enter it, that one is no longer a mortal and can not come back to the other planes nor back to this earth. After the white plane or level or whatever it goes further with other colour I don't know of, there only spirits and great sorcerers can travel. I was told that the white plane I then entered, without I knew it, was the dead world and I died. But I also got thrown back after a short time which very rarely happens. So of what I've heard of I have some kind of purpose to achieve here."

Hi!! I was just wondering if there are plans to ever release a physical version of ashes to Ashley, I just love the comics so much <3

I have gotten one or two questions about this in regards to both Ashes to Ashley and Today Forever. It's a bit of a complicated issue, my short answer is probably, sadly, a no.

My previous experience with doing zines has been troublesome. I live in a small country with a limited potential comic audience and unhelpful print shops. This has eventually led me to completely forego physical pressings and focus entirely on immediate and free web distribution (my old comic Abstract Expressions with Olivia Birch came about because I initially wrote a book about the character but found no satisfying outlet for it, so I just started drawing a comic on here instead). The Ashes to Ashley comics are intently made with this in mind, featuring full color and a blatant disregard for page count (having to split up Today Forever across two posts was certainly a clunky solution to an inelegant problem)!

In practice, this means a physical print would be costly and also involve international distribution. Not to mention the quality control I'd wanna have over it actually not becoming a complete botch job! I have no clue how big the audience is for such a production, so it would involve both work and money I'm not sure I'm able to invest.

Perhaps things look different at a later date, maybe I meet a publicist buddy or something. Who knows? Regardless, I'm happy you like the comic enough that you'd wanna see something like this. Believe me, I would too!

March 6 (UPI) -- Sending and receiving letters in Denmark will take a big hit by 2026 as its national postal service will stop letter deliveries when 2025 comes to a close.

The Nordic nation has had a national postal service since 1624, but the current state-run postal service PostNord says that due to a 90% drop-off in letter volume since 2000, it's ending its letter-carrying services.

"We will continue to deliver letters throughout the year, before delivering the last letters at the turn of the year in 2026." CEO of PostNord Denmark Kim Pedersen said in a press release.

PostNord will begin to remove Denmark's current 1500 red mailboxes starting in June.

Letters can continue to be received and sent however, according to Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen who says "a free market for both letters and parcels" will remain in place.

More than a thousand workers will lose their jobs as a result of the change.

"It's a super sad day. Not just for our department with 20-30 people, [which is] closing down at the end of the year. It's for 1,500 people who face an uncertain future," PostNord employee Anders Raun Mikkelsen said.

The move is also a result of Danes moving to digital communication, as they typically keep all personal identifications and information on their cell phones, and the use of cash has also become uncommon. Public services utilize a Digital Post app, and local authorities send all alerts electronically.

However, it is estimated that 271,000 Danes still rely on physical mail, especially for medical correspondence. TV2 reports that the distribution company Dao will take over the remainder of the letter services in 2026, and those looking to send a letter will need to drop it off at one of the company's Daoshop outlets to do so.

What is Oreca Battle?

Released in March 2012 [JAPAN] Oreca Battle is a trading card arcade game where you scan your card, fight monsters, collect them, raise them, and combine them into new monsters! This game set in a fantasy world of Oreca where each chapter tells a story of different protagonists in different time & place. English version of this game has been distributed and available for certain Asia countries (Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan). Oreca Battle has a Sister game called "Otoca♥D'or" (a rhythm arcade game with similar mechanic as Oreca Battle that's targeted for girls)(a game that's also share the same universe)

This game has 5 Manga titles (two of them being illustrated by “Posuka Demizu” herself) and an anime adaptation in 2014 (available via Crunchyroll or any Anime streaming site)(-Optional but not a recommended way to get into Oreca Battle-)

—(Please keep in mind that some of the Oreca mangas are spin off/not canon to the actual in-game lore and the anime adaptation's storyline is completely different from it's manga adaptation!)—

Unfortunately the game's service has been shut down in March 31st 2022 after it's 10th anniversary (due to running out of card materials), which means it's English translation has been discontinued after New Chapter 3 Phase 3 being implemented. Thankfully some of the machines are still active in certain location thanks to Japanese players.

What is Otoca♥D'or ?

Released in March 12th 2015 Otoca♥D'or is a Japanese arcade rhythm game (and the Sister game of Oreca Battle) developed by Konami and released in 2015 as part of their Bemani music game line. It combines music rhythm gameplay with magical girl themes, fashion, and battle elements. You play as a magical girl, known as a "Doll," who battles other magical girls by performing songs. The better you play (hitting rhythm notes accurately), the stronger your performance becomes, allowing you to deal more "damage" and win stage battles.

The new story take place in a world that's mixed with medieval and futuristic setting (and heavily implied to be the future of Oreca Battle).

French prosecutors gave preliminary information in a press release on Monday about the investigation into Telegram CEO Pavel Durov, who was arrested suddenly on Saturday at Paris’ Le Bourget airport. Durov has not yet been charged with any crime, but officials said that he is being held as part of an investigation “against person unnamed” and can be held in police custody until Wednesday.

The investigation began on July 8 and involves wide-ranging charges related to alleged money laundering, violations related to import and export of encryption tools, refusal to cooperate with law enforcement, and “complicity” in drug trafficking, possession and distribution of child pornography, and more.

The investigation was initiated by “Section J3” cybercrime prosecutors and has involved collaboration with France’s Centre for the Fight against Cybercrime (C3N) and Anti-Fraud National Office (ONAF), according to the press release. “It is within this procedural framework in which Pavel Durov was questioned by the investigators,” Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau wrote in the statement.

Telegram did not respond to multiple requests for comment about the investigation but asserted in a statement posted to the company's news channel on Sunday that Durov has “nothing to hide.”

“Given the existence of several preliminary investigations in France concerning Telegram in relation to the protection of minors' rights and in cooperation with other French investigation units—for instance, on cyber harassment—the arrest of Durov, does not seem to me like a highly exceptional move,” says Cannelle Lavite, a French lawyer who specializes in free-speech matters.

Lavite notes that Durov is a French citizen who was arrested in French territory with an arrest warrant issued by French judges. She adds that the list of charges involved in the investigation is “extensive,” a wide net that she says is not entirely surprising in the context of “France's ambiguous legislative arsenal” meant to balance content moderation and free speech.

Durov is a controversial figure for his leadership of Telegram, in large part because he has not typically cooperated with calls to moderate the platform's content. In some ways, this has positioned him as a free-speech defender against government censorship, but it has also made Telegram a haven for hate speech, criminal activity, and abuse. Additionally, the platform is often billed as a secure communication tool, but much of it is open and accessible by default.

“Telegram is not primarily an encrypted messenger; most people use it almost as a social network, and they’re not using any of its features that have end-to-end encryption,” says John Scott-Railton, senior researcher at Citizen Lab. “The implication there is that Telegram has a wide range of abilities and access to potentially do content moderation and respond to lawful requests. This puts Pavel Durov very much in the center of all kinds of potential governmental pressure.”

On top of all of this, many researchers have questioned whether Telegram's end-to-end encryption is durable when users do elect to enable it.

French president Emmanuel Macron said in a social media post on Monday that “France is deeply committed to freedom of expression and communication … The arrest of the president of Telegram on French soil took place as part of an ongoing judicial investigation. It is in no way a political decision.”

News of Durov's arrest is fueling concerns, though, that the move could threaten Telegram's stability and undermine the platform. The case seems poised, too, to have implications in long-standing debates around the world about social media moderation, government influence, and use of privacy-preserving end-to-end encryption.

Lavite says the case certainly invokes debates about “the balance between the right to encrypted communication and free speech on the one hand, and users' protection—content moderation—on the other hand.” But she notes that there is a lot of information about the investigation that is unknown and “a lot of blurry zones still.”

Two of Pedro Pascal's films that haven't even been released yet have been spoiled for me. First, that annoying journalist revealed a huge spoiler for "Eddington" at the press conference, and someone posted the video on Tumblr without warning, so I watched it. Now, Celine Song herself posted a pretty obvious spoiler for "Materialists" on her Instagram stories.

"Materialists" is set to be released in my country on August 14th, and I have seen that in other countries, it will be available until September. This kind of distribution from A24 is pure shit. I mean, they have a movie with three world-famous actors, and they decide that only certain places are worthy of seeing the movie this month. I don't understand why it is so difficult for A24, with such good projects and brilliant actors, to release the movies on the same day worldwide. By the time it is released in my country, the movie will already be online, and everyone will have seen it illegally, including myself. Why should I wait until August and pay for something that I can watch for free at home? I'm not sorry. A24 wasn't even able to promote and run a good campaign during the award season for Sebastian Stan in "A Different Man," so ever since they did Sebastian dirty, I don't trust them. Getting good distribution for their movies is something that will never happen. I'm so tired.
