Year 1620

TW/CW: Death, Miscarriage

After the losses of the previous year, Alexis was hoping that the war that had taken her twin just a few months prior would end soon. When she could she skimmed through Talia's tome looking for updates.

Thomasin was overjoyed to meet her daughter-in-law and was happy to see her youngest flourishing at home even if he was still mostly avoiding anything else in regards to his future.

The early months of the year was a time for love as news of a few marriages came through Talia's tome and Vincente was enjoying being able to cheer up his bride.

Frideswide was arriving at the home less and less often as her career took off. She was always happy to be home of course but being popular in her troop and her troop gaining popularity was a dream come true for her.

Alexis had been feeling ill around May and Frideswide was more than familiar with that particular brand of illness. She confronted her sister-in-law who hadn't reached the same conclusion but with the idea in her head Alexis discovered that she was pregnant.

Telling Vincente was a different issue though as the young couple didn't necessarily want children for a good while but now they was one on the way. Alexis was rather neutral towards the situation but Vincente was not at all excited for this turn of events.

Vincente tried to distract himself by getting advice from the rest of the household. Though Soren wasn't much help and he mostly just stayed for the drama of it all...

Alexis mostly kept to herself she was still getting used to her new home and now the pregnancy was making her feel more isolated from her own husband. She understood that it was a big change but she was worried about being a mother so soon in a place she didn't speak the language but she kept her hands busy to keep her mind off it.

Unfortunately in July, Alexis was woken up with terrible cramps and bleeding and while she survived the ordeal, the pregnancy was lost shortly after Alexis had learned of her father's passing in the war.

Grace had been expecting as well and her pregnancy had gone smoothly. On September 26th, she delivered her third child, a son, Felipe Robles early that morning.

Unfortunately complications arose and just after sunset the day her son was born Grace died.

Frideswide was not taking the loss of her sister lightly. It felt like the fates had been toying with their family by giving them such a pleasant first half of the year and then the tragedy of the latter half. It felt wrong for the home in Tartosa to be so normal when Grace was gone.

So after realizing that the Robles family had no clue how to handle the young children in their care Frideswide decided to move in to help her late sister's former in-laws with her nieces and nephew.

Aurelio was more than contented to let Frideswide take the lead and Frideswide couldn't believe just how much she missed taking care of little ones as she looked after her nephew and young niece. The Robles family welcomed her with open arms more so than her own former in-laws. It felt comfortable and right to be there.

Year 1617

TW/CW: Miscarriage

The year began with Frideswide's absence being felt from when she left to return home to her husband and sons as Adrian and the boys tended to the family home. Francisco enjoyed the work in the garden though he was also happy to see the funds from selling their excess harvest build up so he could pursue his true calling.

June rolled around when the funds were finally enough both Ramon and Francisco were elated though they both worried that some unfortunate event would rob them again of what they wished to pursue. Still the moment was nice.

Frideswide returned to Tartosa again in early July. Her sons could hardly recognize her but she felt like a failure as a mother that once she confirmed they were fine and had been growing up well, them not knowing her didn't actually bother her all that much. She had always had an idea for life for herself and becoming a mother so young simply wasn't a part of that. In a way she was glad that her husband hadn't minded her leaving for years still she wondered if something was wrong with her for feeling so unattached to them. She had gotten to know her boys again and spent time with her husband and in-laws but the longer she stayed the more she felt like she simply didn't belong there so once her theatre troop left she didn't see much reason not to come home.

Of course once again she had returned home pregnant but she had hardly arrived at the threshold of the property when the cramps overtook her and she lost her pregnancy.

Frideswide hated that she had lost another pregnancy especially as news that Grace was expecting again came to the family but she was also relieved. She didn't want to take a break from her career which was just starting to take off again and she didn't want to go back to her marital home to be harassed because of another child but she also had hoped for her family to be together again even if she didn't exactly want another child so soon.

Then came the triplet's birthday marking them as adults. The mood was soured by the fact that the same evening Francisco and Ramon were leaving to follow their futures. It was bittersweet to have the last time for the next few years together be at a milestone birthday. More worrying was hushed talks around about tense atmospheres in the world, talks of war breaking out ate at the backs of their mind. If war broke out and Vincente had to fight, would this be the last they ever saw of each other? Still nothing was set in stone so they chose to ignore their worries but as they gathered their things to part ways it was hard to hide the looks on their faces.

Still time went on and Grace was actually enjoying her pregnancy with her second this time around. She was still petrified about what the actual delivery but the pregnancy was a lot easier and with her relationships with her husband and in-laws being a lot more stable than with her first she truly felt like a Robles this time around. There was a lot of gossip to talk about especially when she learned that William had become a father which was odd to think about since he was her cousin's son but it was nice to think about her baby having a friend their age. Aurelio was also enjoying being a father to his little girl and was excited to have another baby around the house especially with Emma growing bigger.

Year 1610 Part 1:

The beginning of the 1610s brought with it a surprise visit in the form of Samuel arriving in Tartosa. Though Adrian had left for a few towns over in hopes of finding a good match for his granddaughter.

In Mt. Komorebi, Satoshi and Tess welcomed their daughter Mayu as Terric and Deborah learned they were once again expecting.

After many trips and conversations with the head of the Robles household, Adrian and Ignacio agreed that Ignacio's grandson Aurelio and Grace would be wed when they became adults.

When Adrian told Grace of her future husband, Grace was excited. She trusted that her grandfather would find her a suitable match but more importantly she was grateful that she wouldn't be too far from home when she did move. The Robles family lived far enough that travel would be bothersome but not a rare event like attempting to visit family in Windenburg or Henford-on-Bagley.

Frideswide was enjoying her acting troupe which made sure to blow into town every few months or so. When she was home she could be herself rather than fake her identity just to do what she loved. Her brothers also appreciated her arrival since it wouldn't be too long before the family would be separated with Grace's wedding. They felt as if they were counting the days but until then they tried their best to keep up with the extended family through Talia's tome which is how they learned that Parnell had become a grandmother to a little girl and Adrian's niece, Sarah, had remarried that July.

Year 1612 Part 2:

TW/CW: Death, Infant Death. Stillbirth

Frideswide was no longer able to hide her pregnancy so she decided that she could take a break to spend time in her home with her husband and enjoy the town her mother had grown up in. It made her feel connected with her as she thought of how her own baby and would play in the same places as her mom did.

Though Frideswide was many things, faithful to her marriage was not one of them. As much as she enjoyed Watson's company, she was more suited for a life on the road much like her mother and sharing her time with her lovers like her grandfather had. Though she was certain that her baby was her husband's she was feeling rather trapped by staying in one place for so long after a life of freedom.

While Watson was fine with his wife taking other lovers as long as he didn't have to hear of it, Marjorie was deeply upset at finding her husband in the bushes with their son's wife. Julien had been away for when Frideswide's baby was conceived so at least Marjorie was confident in the paternity of her future grandbaby but she was determined to make Frideswide realize the error of her adulterous ways since she couldn't really punish her own husband for it.

In Tartosa, Agustin began to develop chronic migraines that pained him for days on end. The physician's were of little help and often all he could do was hole up someplace dark with some water and hope for it to pass quickly each time.

Vincente spent his time when he wasn't studying, writing letters to his siblings and on occasion they'd write back. News came that Grace was expecting. Frideswide also shared that one of the Upton boys married and left for Willow Creek in March.

As Frideswide's pregnancy progressed she shared through Talia's tome that she had met the ghost of her great-grandfather, Thomas. Thomas was glad to meet her and was eager to get to know his new descendant as well. Thomas felt that Frideswide reminded him a lot of Adrian so it was nice to have someone so close that reminded him of his son. Though he was surprised to hear that Adrian was still alive.

Frideswide was not enjoying her pregnancy. The time away from her passion and the fact her mother-in-law was making life miserable for her was weighing her down but she was excited for her child. She didn't dislike the idea of being a mother after all but the daily life of being pregnant was weighing on her.

Thankfully, the pregnancy came to an end rather quickly and on July 5th, Angus and Ferdinando Carlisle were born. Both boys were healthy and well which was a blessing for the entire household. It felt like a dream that when the boys were born Marjorie was kind to Frideswide but perhaps that was more due to her excitement at being a grandmother.

Unfortunately while Frideswide's luck with children had been good, her cousin Lawrence and his wife delivered a stillborn son later the same week. Frideswide felt conflicted at the sigh of relief she felt knowing that it wasn't her own child that was lost.

Though they were separated, the Carlisle triplets celebrated turning 13.

Vincente still didn't know what he wanted from the future but now that he was older he was kept busy to have a more active role around the household. It still felt so empty with just the two others in the home. A part of him wanted to leave as well but he didn't know if it was because he was genuinely wanting to leave or if he just wanted to be in a less empty home.

By September things had gone back to how tense they were during Frideswide's pregnancy but without the barrier of carrying her grandchildren, Marjorie had become much more vicious with her displeasure like making her fear for the boys by taking them into town with her when Frideswide tried to sleep. Frideswide's nerves were shot wondering if she'd wake up to find her son's missing anytime she closed her eyes. If she wasn't so exhausted all the time she'd never stand for this but newborns were tiring.

Grace felt for her sister from the letters she got from Vincente running the notes to her. She couldn't imagine having a mother-in-law be so spiteful. Aurelio's mother was incredibly kind to her from day one welcoming her into their home and giving advice. Though maybe it was because they had thought Aurelio would be an only child for the longest time. Bernice shared that she and her husband married young and didn't get pregnant until they were a few years into their marriage and after Aurelio, nothing, until Emma who was born when Aurelio was nearly an adult considering she was only a year and a half-ish. The Robles family was overjoyed to welcome Grace in as one of their own and were even more glad that they were already expecting.

Grace unfortunately went into an early labor so early in fact that the household was convinced that they were going to lose the baby.

That said, their fears didn't come true. Guglielma was born October 27th, healthy as a premature infant can be. Given how loud she fussed they were confident her lungs were just fine.

That said there were complications with Grace's delivery which involved a physician's toolkit and left Grace very sore. Thankfully she didn't develop an infection but the pain was so much that even by the end of the year she refused to let Aurelio come any closer than sitting next to her at the table for meals. She was glad to spend time with her daughter though and often found reasons to sleep in the kids room with her and Emma in hopes of avoiding her husband. She did know that it wasn't his fault and that at some point the family would want a son but that was not something she was okay with just yet.

Aurelio decided not to press since things could be worse, one of his younger cousins's, Tala's, little brother sadly passed away at the end of December which left him feeling grateful that his wife and daughter were relatively fine.

Year 1610 Part 2:

After discussing it at length, Agustin and Adrian came to an agreement and called the two eldest of the Carlisle boys in from playing.

They began by asking the boys if they were truly certain about dedicating their lives to the watcher. Which both boys agreed though with that question they became more curious as to what they had been called in for.

Adrian decided to step out after saying that he supported their future endeavors.

When Adrian left, Agustin explained that while Adrian was away making a match for Grace he found a school to formally instruct the boys and that they had sold enough that they could send the boys to the school following their birthday. They didn't need to go immediately but if they wanted to go into their chosen career, they needed to take at least five years of the schooling before they can even study in the church but maybe more since they weren't the most educated to begin with.

Francisco was elated that he would actually get to follow what his heart was telling him was the right path for him. Ramon winced at the idea of so much schooling but like his brother he also was determined to follow his career path so it was a sacrifice he was willing to make.

Though it was sad to note that their family would be splitting up sooner than they thought, they took comfort in knowing their school would be in the same area as Grace's future family so they'd see their sister more often until their schooling was up.

Knowing that their time was limited the Carlisle triplets took their time to enjoy their last moments altogether before they'd be split up for some time.

Adrian took the boys to their new home for their schooling as well as brought Grace with him so she could meet her future spouse at least once before the wedding.

Frideswide stayed back to comfort Vincente as he was now the only Carlisle kid at home. He was happy for his brothers but he did find the house oddly empty without them.

Though they had a lot to talk about from Talia's tome since Matilda and her husband had a daughter, Suzanna had twin sons but in her notes in the Tome she revealed that they likely were not her husband's children but since he seem to question them she wasn't going to say anything and the Blair and Ernest branches of the family welcomed two more boys before the year was out.

Year 1609 Part 4:

With Frideswide becoming an adult she immediately began to practice her acting skills as she aimed to find and join a troupe sooner rather than later. She was a bundle of nerves but was excited to begin her life as an actress. 

While the oldest of Thomasin’s children had her life planned out the younger boys were still wondering what they should do but were beginning to settle into what they wanted for the future. It wasn’t a surprise when Francisco declared that he wanted to join the clergy, the surprise was when Ramon said he wanted to join as well. Francisco had been relatively devout from a very young age but Ramon’s faith was not nearly as strong but he had conviction so only time would tell if things would change. Grace and Vincente were still uncertain as to where life would lead them. 

On October 5th, Florence delivered her son, Leon, and was glad to see that she had two healthy sons especially since it meant that now there was no reason to continue having more children as it was pretty much certain that at least one of the boys would live to continue the Westbrook family name after all. 

Liona turned six a few days later growing into herself. 

December eventually rolled around and Jarod Maeda became a toddler. The family was doing well as they began to consider leaving Tartosa once more once the Maeda boys were a little bigger. For the time being though, they celebrated the end of the decade together with the Carlisles and the Jaleels.

Year 1609 Part 3:

Of course the two main immortal members of the family had to meet again now that they were in the same area. It was odd for them both to interact considering most of their interactions had been in Talia’s tome or just before Larissa fled Tartosa before her daughter’s death. Life had done a number on both of them. They had loved and lost and they both had to laugh at the fact that Adrian looked old enough to be Larissa’s father when he was one of her younger nephews.

They spent most of the time Adrian was in Willow Creek together before Adrian decided to return to Tartosa but given their conditions as immortals he told Larissa that if she was ever needing company in her travels he was welcome to a new adventure once his grandkids were settled in their own lives to which Larissa was happy to keep his offer in mind for the future. 

Adrian said his goodbyes to his family in the area and returned to Tartosa just in time for Frideswide’s eighteenth birthday.

Year 1609 Part 2:

Life in Tartosa went on as usual for the Carlisle household as Frideswide’s eighteenth birthday approached later in the year. 

While Satoshi celebrated his eighteenth birthday by getting together with his neighbor, Tess. Which should have been where it ended but two weeks later Tess arrived and revealed that she was pregnant so the two quickly married before the news would reveal their impropriety of conceiving before marriage on April 27th.

Parnell also welcomed a daughter-in-law into the family that April and the next month, Quentin’s step-daughter married a man from Parnell’s hometown named Nikolai Upton. 

Terric’s daughter Yura became a toddler and was loved by her parents, Aunt and Uncle. 

Florence was expecting again but had come to realize that she wasn’t happy being a mother to the child she already had and decided that not only did she not like motherhood, she wasn’t a fan of pregnancy either. One way or another, she was going to make certain this was her last baby. In the meantime, she was happy to celebrate her mother-in-laws fifty-third birthday.

Year 1604 Part 3:

Thomasin couldn’t help herself and made sure to visit the night her daughter became a teenager. She hated that she had missed so much of her daughter’s life but was elated to know she had lived so long. The boys were a bit skeptical of the ghost lady but their curiosity made them congregate outside to watch through the window and they began hanging out around Thomasin’s grave for weeks after her visit. 

It was on one of those nights that Adrian finally succeeded in his experimentation. He had created his potion of limited immortality. He had felt odd when he drank the liquid and he could see himself take on an odd glow but after the sensation went away he was filled with energy once more. He felt a good ten or maybe even fifteen years younger and despite recently turning seventy, he felt good enough to travel again. He considered checking in with some of his nieces and nephews to see how they were getting on as well since it had been years after all especially with increasing updates on new additions to the family coming in often.

Year 1604 Part 2:

TW/CW: Infant Death, Death

Maria and Alton had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of their new baby. Maria felt it was a bit odd having new baby when she was newly a grandmother but she did miss having a baby to care for and when her labor began she was excited to be a mother again. Except that excitement wasn’t to last. 

Maria’s excitement turned to fear as the labor was complicated to the point where Maria’s health was at risk and after quick but careful deliberation it was decided that Maria’s life was the priority and the midwife removed the obstructing child which resulted in her death. They had decided on naming the child Helen if it was a girl but there was little time to mourn when it became clear that there wasn’t one baby on the way but two. Their second daughter was born healthy with little trouble but they hadn’t thought of a name for a second child and decided to think about it once the midwife left. Later that night Maria collapsed and died from what was later to be determined as severe bleeding from the birth. In her memory, Alton named their daughter, Marieta. 

Adrian was shocked to learn about his daughter’s death and granddaughters birth. He couldn’t help but worry that all of his children were going to pass before him as he now only had three living children left. He decided that if he managed to get his potion done that he would spend more time with his living children no matter where they were but for the time being his family close by was deeply important to him.

William and Satoshi had their birthdays though considering the recent events, it was bittersweet. 

Margaret’s granddaughter, Constance celebrated her sixth birthday as well but it wasn’t much of a celebration as Sybil was not the motherly type and was more glad she didn’t have to care for a toddler anymore than she was about seeing her daughter grow up. 

July brought with it news that Parnell Jernigan had married a man named Hobart Faba though she wasn’t too keen on staying in Mt.Komorebi. She had wanted to leave the place so much of her family had died but she also didn’t want to leave teenage brothers to fend for themselves. She felt rather resentful of her mother’s death that she was left in charge of her siblings to care for when she was still a teenager herself but she still cared for her siblings after all and was determined to convince her husband to leave once Terric was an adult at the soonest. 

After her cousin had gotten married, Frideswide officially became a teenager herself.

Year 1603 Part 3:

Rachel’s second pregnancy was going better than her first in that she wasn’t accusing her sister and her husband of any infidelity which was comforting to them. That said, with the hunters about Rodrigo and Susanna were hesitant about staying in Tartosa but Rachel didn’t want to leave her home, she wanted to have her family grow up where she did rather than go to some strange land when she could simply stay inside. The other two members of the family wondered if that would truly be enough but decided not to argue with the pregnant woman because either way they couldn’t exactly travel while she was in that state anyways.

On October seventh, Rachel gave birth to her twin daughters, Liona and Lauretta both of whom were remarkably healthy little girls to the family’s relief. 

Brooklyn was once again expecting and while Barnaby was hoping for another son, she wanted a little girl though she would content herself with Faustina if that didn’t come to pass. 

Despite Adrian’s efforts to discover immortality before his time ran out, he knew that if he failed he wanted his family to keep up with their education so he taught Frideswide all he knew even if she didn’t want to study so much.

Year 1603 Part 2:

TW/CW: Infant Death

That April brought with it news that Sarah and Antonio’s daughter, Rose, had sadly passed away. But with Melrose’s eighteenth birthday things were looking up again. 

Julian and Amy both had another child and Arthur Kibo got married in July.

Adrian also had started working on his potions, mainly to discover the secret of immortality. He didn’t care too much about living forever but he had a feeling his time was coming to an end and he wanted to at least see his younger grandchildren grow up and get settled. He also wondered if he could potentially bring back his children who had passed away far too soon especially Thomasin whose ghost still lingered around the home watching over her father, husband, and children. 

Sofia Laurent had her first birthday and appeared to take quite a lot after her mother. 

Rachel though was struggling, each full moon was potentially a death sentence when she transformed into her beastly form. She was even more concerned when she learned she was expecting once more. The Laurent family was holding it’s wolf hunts every full moon and she felt stifled inside but still, she hid inside hoping the hunters would pass her by.

Year 1600 Part 3:

TW/CW: Infant Death, Death Mention

Having toddlers was it’s own adjustment as they all had different personalities and even though they hadn’t known their mother long, they felt the lack of her presence dearly. Thankfully though they weren’t exactly fussy children and once Agustin and Adrian had gotten themselves a full nights sleep it was clear they had just been overwhelmed by numbers. Francisco was a rather charming child, Ramon was fiercely independent which spelled trouble since he was barely a year old, and Vincente was a happy, silly child. 

Susanna and Cecily started to grow close before Rachel gave birth to her son, Alexander in late October. Unfortunately, Alexander only lived five days and passed before the end of the month, the loss was getting to Susanna. She figured that maybe it was because she had to share a room with him while she was alive or maybe, but she would never say this aloud, she could have seen the hit to her relationship with her sister as worth it if the child that had exacerbated her jealously from carrying him had actually lived. 

The bad news continued as in December, Philippa shared the news that her husband, Yoshio, had died.

1500-1599 Recap Part 85 Final:

Grace became a child and kept aging up with hearing aids so I’ve decided to take that as a sign that she’s deaf/hard of hearing. 

Despite the year ending with a death, I think the house full of kids is a good sign to a new century... maybe... I really hope I didn’t just jinx it.

1500-1599 Recap Part 84:

Satoshi became a child at one point. 

The rest of the family got used to living in their home until Thomasin learned she was pregnant. 

Florence married Aleksey Westbrook (the son of a random gallery sim and maybe an Akiyama or Oaklow). 

Thomasin had her triplet sons and then failed her childbirth roll. After doing the math I share a birthday with the boys so that’s a thing I guess. I joked about it to myself when Thomasin popped but I got a kick out it actually happening.

1500-1599 Recap Part 83:

Philip, Parnell, and Frideswide all had birthdays before Thomasin and Agustin married and left for Tartosa. 

Brooklyn had her son William and Sybil had her daughter Constance. 

Frideswide was happy to have a big home with areas to play in Tartosa.
