as much fun as trashing every english place name in connecticut has beeen, my anger over the words we use to call places has been simmering for a while and funnytime is over now. i’ve been all over the pacific northwest and the midwest these past few months and one thing that had me actually boggled was how much local indigenous tribes were present in the contemporary local landscapes. from highway exit signs in washington indicating the nearest tribes, to the community college in c’ouer d’alene idaho where each building was labeled with an english name a native name and a translation of the native name, to the campus mound protection and advocacy group in beloit wisconsin, all of it was the only actual east/west culture shock to me, who comes from a place where people think the patuxent was named from the english language. i rag on the east coast a lot for being a jam packed clown car for a bunch of petty reasons, but by far the most insidious and serious of my grievances with the east coast is our multiregion-unifying tradition of pretending that there were indigenous people here but we were too brutal a few hundred years ago and they’re gone now, that one is totally our bad, such a shame that there’s nothing we can do to make it up to them except to honor them and examine all their stuff archaeologically because there’s nobody left to give it all back to. this is a direct continuation of genocide being passed off as diversity inclusion and it genuinely makes me rabid.

Kind of funny to have the misfortune of going on tt for the first time in months like checking on my abandoned lab experiment only to run into. All types of wild stuff yknow and then the blk girlfriend effect v out of context and being like oh. thats.. then scrolling through the tag to so many vids but. Also dangelo mentioned it in a vid the same day funnytiming but like. Ik tiktok isnt the app for me thats why i dont engage bc im a huge spoilsport ik its j some couples trying to be cute and like if they liked it whatever but. Damn lil wild how Many ppl made videos like this its. Rlly true to that much of an extent?? Part of me cant help but feel vague concern I can't help it but also lets be real there is. On some level the expectation for most blk women to idk. Do whatever they can for their partner to the point of self sacrifice, while also maintaining an image of bettering themselves thats prob the story of most of the women in my family like. Not to be that person my sis lowkey fixed her bfs whole life for 7+ yrs while getting a degree and he j said she couldn't make it w/o him. I've seen the emotional and physical turmoil it takes on so many blk women esp on top of pushing urself to be successful its just.. cute trend in isolation ig.

But nothings rlly isolated still cant like it. Bc whyy are we Creating a joke expectation for blk women to help their partner glow up like. So we're saying if u date a blk woman u should expect her to start fixing everything abt the way u dress and talk and act or?? Ik the trends j dress style rlly but still alarmed by how many videos there were I couldnt find the end . Idk if theres something I'm missing like. W hy does this happen sm? And look part of it could be coincidence bc most vids don't say how long its been or when those pics were from could've been 2020 idk but. Just not a fan of what it implies anyway. It happened in may i think no one cares ik but absolutely wild. Also ig it being talked abt in a v recent video might bring it up but like why?

I didn't have time to check all the tt comments while looking through how many existed under the tag but. Tiktokt truly breeds some weird ass trends like the number of couples hopping on that I. Would personally feel so weird abt that also not my exp whoops tried my best rlly but some blk women have issues and suck and I j hope ppl dont start acting weird abt us also suffering from flaws and not feeling the active need to make their s/o more attractive or something Im here for the fucking ride im sorry. I wont be giving constructive criticism actually I will be rooting for everything my partner chooses to do tho
