Main - Motion Pool CD

Main was a project formed by Robert Hampson and Scott Dawson  of psychedelic shoegaze band Loop. After a couple of EPs G.C. Green of Godflesh joined them. Their sound was Minimal Post-rock, Post Industrial ambient that is really good headphone music.

Incidenti stradali mortali 2022: un pericoloso passo indietro

Nel 2022, gli incidenti stradali mortali e con lesioni hanno subito un brusco rialzo. I numeri registrati nel rapporto stilato dall'Istat in collaborazione con l'Aci ci rimandano ai livelli pre-pandemia. A livello territoriale, la situazione si presenta molto variegata. La metà delle provincie italiane ha registrano un netto miglioramento, l'altra metà un peggioramento. Aumentati gli incidenti che vedono coinvolti pedoni e quanti si muovono con mezzi di trasporto green. Incidenti stradali mortali 2022: cosa dice il report Nel 2022 si sono verificati complessivamente 165.889 incidenti, vale a dire, 454 incidenti al giorno; a causa di questi incidenti sono morte 3.159 persone, in media 8,7 al giorno mentre sono rimaste ferite 223.475 persone, mediamente 612 al giorno. Con questi numeri i livelli di incidentalità in Italia si riportano sugli stessi livelli registrati nel 2019. Un dato che conferma non solo che la fase pandemica è abbondantemente superata ma anche che serve per tracciare la strada per il futuro. Il 2019, infatti, è l'anno assunto come riferimento per l'obiettivo 2030. In 53 province su 107 il numero dei morti è salito, in 53 è sceso mentre in una sola provincia, Lodi, è rimasto stabile. Altri numeri da non sottovalutare sono quelli che riguardano gli incidenti che vedono protagonisti i pedoni e quanti si affidano alla mobilità dolce e sostenibile. Nel 2022 sono morti: 485 pedoni (+3% rispetto all'anno precedente)205 ciclisti (-6,8%) di cui 20 su bici elettrica (+53,8%) e 16 conducenti di monopattino (+77,8%). Il più alto numero di pedoni morti si è registrato nella provincia di Roma (56), a Milano (24), Napoli (23) e Torino (18). A Padova, invece, si è registrato il più alto numero di decessi tra i ciclisti (10); subito dopo c'è Udine (9) e Milano, Venezia e Ravenna (8). Quanto ai conducenti di monopattino deceduti, 4 sono morti nella provincia di Milano, 3 nella provincia di Roma e 2 in quella di Torino. In tutto, totalizzano il 56% dei morti a livello nazionale. Dove sono aumentati gli incidenti... Le città nelle quali ci sono stati più morti per incidente stradale sono, in valore assoluto, Roma (+33 morti), Latina (+18), Novara e Foggia (+15). Tra le province che hanno registrato il maggior aumento in percentuale del numero dei morti c'è da segnalare Oristano (+180%: 14 morti nel 2022, 12 nel 2021 e 5 nel 2019), Aosta (+150%: 10 morti nel 2022, 1 nel 2021 e 4 nel 2019) e Novara (+79%: 34 morti nel 2022, 19 nel 2021 e 19 nel 2019). Parlando, invece, di regioni nelle quali si è verificato un aumento della mortalità, un aumento di vittime in valore assoluto si è verificato nelLazio, (+44), in Sardegna (+29) ed in Puglia (+19) mentre in Valle d’Aosta, (+150%), in Basilicata, (+59%) ed in Sardegna, (+41%) si è verificato il maggior incremento in percentuale. Un altro dato emerso dal report dice che in 13 province l'indice di mortalità (cioè il numero dei morti per 100 incidenti) è almeno il doppio rispetto al valore medio nazionale (1,90). Tra queste le città con l'indice di mortalità più alto sono Matera (5,91), Foggia (5,18), Nuoro (5,15) e Vercelli (5,13). ... e dove sono diminuiti Le città che hanno, invece, registrato una diminuzione significativa dei morti sono Brescia (-20 morti), Modena (-17), Forlì-Cesena e Venezia (-16). Tra le regioni con maggior decremento dei decessi in valore assoluto ci sono Emilia Romagna (-41), Lombardia (-36) e Calabria (-30), mentre le diminuzioni in percentuale si sono verificate, tra l'altro, in Molise (-50%), Calabria (-29%) e Abruzzo (-24%). Passando all'incidenza della mortalità, le città con l'indice di mortalità più basso sono Savona, Prato, Genova, La Spezia, Monza Brianza, Biella, Milano e Gorizia. Forefront Post 5 An Ostrich Told Me the World Was Fake and I Think I Believe It

The narrative of the film is centered around an office worker who is questioning their animated reality and this is played up for comedy. The film uses a monotonous and sterile "man made" setting of an office to create a sense that the main character is "trapped" in an artificial world. 

Cubical offices have been critisised for their uncannyness and thre are already examples of other depictions of offices as consturcted prisons (e.g The Stanley Parable). Even bigger than this idea is the common trope of an office worker feeling so out of place that they believe there is some kind of conspiracy forcing them into a meaningless cycle of consumerism and work, David Fincher's 1999 filmFight club is a great example of this.

But this film goes a step further. The role of an animator is to create the illustion of life in a way that is believable enough to trick the viewer. The camera is introduced in this film to signify a barrier between the real world you and I live in, and the fake world of animation, this is a really intresting idea as in stop motion the camera is the bridge between the animated world we percieve on screen and the real world we live in. This film draws attention to the medium it uses and narrows in on the function of the medium as a narrative tool. I am beyond impressed.

These are my notes I made while watching the film.

I really like the way this film is framed inside the camera and how this draws attention to the difference between reality and the animated world. especially through the green screen section, as the character explores the set more things are shown to be not as they seem. When the main character is thrust out of the set the camera leaves the screen showing that he is truely out and alive in the real world, he wakes up back in his reality and everythings back to normal but he wrestles with his reality. The comedy of him trying to explain himself and looking insane really relaves the pressure and makes the next portion of the film feel unexpected despite how it was foreshadowed, the tone flips between horror and comedy as it launches into a furnatura advert. it becomes unclear to the viewer if the film is real or if the characters re truly alive and this is really intresting.

Godflesh: Cold World e.p. (1991)

Danny From The 209 recently dug this up and handed it to me. Good on him. It’s one Godflesh track I haven't burndt in my head already but will do so starting now.

Cold World is an e.p. exclusive and would've sounded welcome on their legendary 1989 record Streetcleaner when anyone cares to ask. The feature track won't let you pass until you're willing and ready to take on the hundreds of hammering blows you're destined to receive. All the more welcome to sit in with Justin Broadrick's stony, un-impassioned, and unmovable world view of ubiquitous despair with help from G.C. Green. Three versions of "Nihil" seems like it sounds forever but still has Steetcleaner's DNA of crushing, pulverizing drum patterns, toxic electronics, and Broadrick's vocal wails. Always leave here remembering that he is, and always will be, the reigning king of nihilism.
