CONCERT REVIEW: FAOUZIA W/ CARMEN DELEON AND GEORGEE AT RIO THEATRE - NOVEMBER 17TH, 2022

Faouzia took to the Rio Theatre to end off her “CITIZENS” tour. The Moroccan-Canadian pop star’s sold-out performance was mesmerizing and magnetic. A culmination of catchy lyrics, powerhouse vocals and Arabic stylings. Faouzia has honed her talent and released an album where each song is worth savouring–and belting out loud.

georgee, the first opening act, brought smooth R&B and funk. He had a chill and humorous demeanor, cracking self-deprecating jokes with the audience before moving into sensual vocal runs. From the lofi-esque “split” to the ironically energizing “sad” and bouncy “baby4u,” georgee’s passionate vocals and playful lyrics instantly drew listeners in: “I’m a baby for you / When you leave me I get nervous / I stay up waiting for you / And I think that I deserve it.”

Next up was Carmen DeLeon, who brought joyous energy and a mighty stage presence. DeLeon, who sang mostly in Spanish, had a soft but fierce voice, always maintaining a Latin elegance. She moved seamlessly from the electro sway of “Mariposas” to the determined “Mala Memoria” and darker, post-breakup anthem “BBB.” DeLeon cultivated an infectious atmosphere, quickly getting everyone out of their seats to dance. She pulled her father, who was also on stage, into a tango and spontaneously ran into the crowd to dance–much to their collective delight.

Faouzia started her set with “Puppet,” a bold celebration of independence: “Little did you know / I’m my own Geppetto / And now you get to watch me go, go, go.” Her strong and angelic vibrato echoed throughout the chorus. Beautiful reassurance followed with “Thick and Thin.” Faouzia had incredible control over her voice and navigated complex vocal runs with ease. A fan favourite, “Born Without a Heart” was also performed. The crowd sung along to lyrics that celebrated boundaries reset.

Faouzia wore a purple shimmering outfit that matched her dreamy persona and was accompanied by a keyboardist, guitarist, and drummer. She moved fluidly on the stage. At one point, she took an audience member's phone and recorded herself singing on it. Faouzia’s newest single, “HABIBI (MY LOVE),” was sung. Its romantic and opulent nature put the audience in a trance.

Her signature Arabic trills shined in the gentle “SoLie” and the fearless “RIP, Love.” Of course, Faouzia performed “Minefields,” a tragic and passionate tune. Lyrics described the strain of forbidden and scarred love: “Now this might be a mistake / We’re broken in so many ways / But I piece us back / together slowly.” One of the last songs of the night was “Tears of Gold,” another classic to mend a broken heart. Faouzia’s fiery vocals complemented clever wordplay: “Don’t you know that I cried tears of gold for you? / I sit here poor for you / Collect my pennies and my dimes / That’s why you love it when I cry.”

Faouzia’s show was a pleasure to experience. Vibrant and interesting opening artists and a captivating main performance. Faouzia has built herself a stellar discography that was elevated on the stage. And while she has racked up millions of streams on Spotify and Youtube, she still remains a relatively underrated talent. Faouzia has flourished on her “CITIZENS” tour and will certainly continue to do so.

Faouzia, Carmen DeLeon & Georgee – Irving Plaza – New York, NY – October 25, 2022

When you pull up to a venue and there’s a line of people wrapping around the busy streets of NYC, you know a POPSTAR is in town. Faouzia, with supporting artists Georgee and Carmen DeLeon, hit the stage at the Irving Plaza in New York City on October 25th. The beautiful venue welcomed over 1,000 smiles in their space, preparing for a night full of love and light. 

Georgee Days was the first act of the night. As soon as the stage lights lit up, fans in the crowd were filled with excitement; the night had begun! His stage presence, with vocals that, quite literally, blew me away, was the best way the night could have started. Singing original songs, like “Sad,” “Split,” and “Baby4You,” his strong messages in his songs were very nice to sing along with.

One more thing I’d like to mention, which is super important when at shows where the tickets are primarily (or simply have) general admission, is that Georgee stopped his performance due to a woman in the crowd not feeling well. This is the type of compassion an artist needs to have for people that are supporting them. Thank you to the Irving Plaza staff for helping that woman out!

Carmen DeLeon was the next act, right before Faouzia. The Latina singer absolutely HIT the stage with a huge bundle of energy. Jumping, dancing, interacting with fans, and just moving along with her music, Carmen was absolutely LOVING the NYC crowd. Her strong vocals filled every crack in the venue, singing her songs “Bésame Bonito,” “BBB,” and “Mala Memoria.” 

She kept a tone of satire, cracking some jokes with the crowd, and encouraging everyone to smile! I really enjoyed her performance. I grew up around Spanish music, so it was really nice being in that space. After her performance and getting ready for Faouzia, Carmen came to the side of the barricade in the crowd, talked to fans, took selfies and BeReal’s, and connected with her fans. Again, it is SO nice seeing artists being so appreciative of their fans. 

The lights dimmed and screams started increasing; it was time for Faouzia to hit the stage. One thing I love about being able to review and photograph shows is see the fan’s reactions to having someone they admire in front of their eyes. As the lights came up, so did the many faces in the crowd. The lights hit her absolutely beautiful and brilliant outfit, bringing the attention to her, from the person at the very front to the person to the very back. 

Opening up with “Puppet,” the space took their energy up by one hundred levels. The popstar kept a smile on for her entire performance, waving and interacting with fans. Being able to move in your performance and keeping your stamina to do your absolute best throughout the show is something hard to do, but she did THAT!

Other songs she included in her set included “Born Without A Heart,” “HABIBI” and “I Know.” Her talents are very vividly present, and she put on such a striking performance. Her encore was fascinating, including her songs “Don’t Tell Me That I’m Pretty” and her 98(+) million streamed song, “Minefields.” She closed off the night with another one of her hottest and most loved songs, “Tears Of Gold.”

I really enjoyed this show. Something you don’t see very often is three artists with different tones and approaches to their music coming together and hitting the same stage back-to-back on the same night. I felt like this kept a diverse unity among the crowd, and it was a beautiful thing to see. If Faouzia is coming near you, I highly recommend going to support her, along with Georgee Days and Carmen DeLeon. This was truly a night to remember!

This week has been absolutely awful, mental health wise. Everything else was about the same. Which you were grateful for, you really didn't need any extra stress from school drama or assignments.

You had stayed the night at Regina's place, having decided to have a cozy Thursday night in with your girlfriend instead of attending the usual parties and such. You ordered take out and watched a movie. Regina's always had this certain image about her, but behind closed doors? When it was just the two of you? She could be so uncharacteristically soft. The first time it happened you had to do a double take and stare at her; wondering if that was really your girlfriend or if she had a twin you didn't know about.

Speaking of her being your girlfriend. Nobody knew about the two of you. You were considered an outcast for your gender identity, the only ones in the school that didn't judge you (besides your girlfriend) were Janis and Damien. They were pretty much your best friends because of it. And only friends...

You were currently getting changed in the bathroom; something you usually did, much to Regina's annoyance. She would always tell you you could change in front of her, that she didn't mind and in fact insisted that you did this. It's not like she hasn't seen you like that before anyway. But you always made up some excuse for why you couldn't and then scrambled off to the bathroom before she could stop you.

Today had been no different.

When you finally got out, Regina turned and looked at you. Eyes scanning your body. Instinctively your arms went to your stomach and you took a step back. Trying to avoid her gaze. You hadn't changed into anything different, just your regular set of pyjamas. Despite that you couldn't help feeling self conscious about your body. It wasn't what you wanted. Some days, you managed... others? Others were harder. You wished certain body parts could just be detachable. Well, they were with the right surgery but you didn't have that kind of money and you sure as hell weren't about to ask Regina.

When you backed away from her, she raised an eyebrow and took a couple steps closer until her hands gripped your waist and pulled you in flush against her.

"Where do you think you're going?" She smirked at you, hand trailing up your side. Sending a shiver down your spine as you bit your bottom lip in response.

"I..." You take a breath, gathering your thoughts. Do you tell her about your insecurities? "Not today, Regina. Please." You voice was barely above a whisper, feeling vulnerable in the moment.

She looked almost offended for a brief second but her features softened as she looked into your eyes, trying to get a good read on how you were feeling. She could see your vulnerability and it all clicked in place.

She sighed deeply and grabbed your hand, pulling you over to the bed as she made you sit down before straddling your lap and looking into your eyes. Her hand rested under your chin.

"You are fucking beautiful." Regina whispered, giving your jawline a kiss." So damn handsome."

"Regina- that's not-" You stuttered out, though whatever you were going to say died in your throat as she kissed your jawline. Your hands instinctively went to wrap around her waist to keep her in your lap.

"What? That's not true?" Regina's eyes met yours again and you shook your head. That wasn't what you were going to say.

"That's not what I meant. I can't stand my body, it makes me feel sick just thinking about it. This isn't who I am in my head and it hurts. How can you be with someone like me? Someone who can't even accept their own body?" You admitted out loud how you really felt, it felt good haven't it out but it hurt talking about it. Tears brimmed your eyes.

Regina frowned as she listened to you, she knew being nonbinary was hard for you. She knew you were hurting. She never realized just how much.

"Because I love your body. I love your mind. I love you. Alright? I'm not going to fucking leave you for someone else, you have what I want even if you can't see it for yourself. You're beautiful." Regina replied, her hands trailing along your sides as she speaks; making you shiver under her touches.

"Alright?" She asked again, her lips now brushing against your neck. You tilt your head to the side almost instinctively, allowing for her to have easier access as she kisses your neck. Sucking on the skin until a mark is left behind. Her finger gently touch it, making you shudder as she laughs a little. You were so easy. Every little thing she did had an effect on you.

"Mm..." You tried talking, but it came out as a soft hum instead of the 'okay' you had tried to say. Your mind wasn't fully settled, Regina could tell just looking into your eyes.

"You're beautiful. My handsome partner." Regina whispered into your ear, making you blush. You could tell what she was doing, giving praise to lessen your thoughts. You appreciated her for it.

You nodded slowly, taking in her words and allowing them to sink into your mind. Even if they were hard to accept.

"Better?" She asked, her hand now resting below your neck as her fingers just barely graze against it.

"Better... thank you." You mumbled, letting your eyes close as you melted under her touch.

"That's not a real thank you. Show me just how much you appreciate me." She whispered into your ear again, you blushed a deeper shade of red as you read between the lines of what Regina really meant.

She looked at you expectantly, you rolled your eyes but that didn't hide the smile (or blush) on your cheeks.

Regina smirked when she saw it and laid back in bed, head rested on the pillow as she grabbed you by your arms and pulled you on top of her.

You easily followed, laying your body down on hers as you began giving her neck soft kisses. Her head tilted to the side in response, eyes closed as she melted into the feeling.

Regina wouldn't call herself submissive, she wasn't submitting to you. She was more of a pillow princess, she wanted her body to be worshipped by you. Treated like a Goddess.

Your soft kisses became harder as you sucked on her skin, leaving that oh so familiar mark. Matching the one Regina had given you just moments before. You heard a soft whimper escape Regina's lips, so you kept going. Getting more of that sound from her. You made sure to start slow so you could worship her body the way she had wanted; and show her just how thankful you were. You'd spend the whole night treating her if you could.

"More... please." Regina almost begged, her tone sounding desperate. Part of her wanted you to just skip the worshipping and get right into the hard stuff, the other part of her wanted to be worshipped and praised. She felt torn.

"Hm? What's that, baby?" You smirked against her neck, looking up for a brief moment to lock eyes with hers. God, you loved being able to make her this desperate.

Regina gritted her teeth, trying to keep herself from begging for it but she knew you wouldn't give her what she wanted if she didn't.

"Fuck you." She cursed, you held back a laugh. You knew she was just frustrated with how you were doing this.

"Keep talking like that and I'll just stop all together." You whispered in her ear, sending a shiver through her body." Go on, beg me."

Regina's eyes closed again as she kept her mouth shut, when she felt you start to pull away and get up... she grabbed you and held you in place on top of her.

"Don't stop."

You smirked, knowing you had her exactly where you wanted her. You gave her throat a kiss and continued on with what you had been doing before... only you upped it a notch like Regina had asked for.

The next morning, you had woken up sore as you took your spare clothes and went to change in the bathroom like you normally did. Regina had felt you getting out of bed and started to stir, sitting up and rubbing one of her eyes.

Her eyes narrow when she sees you heading to the bathroom with your clothes.

"Y/N." Regina spoke up, her tone a mixture of stern and tired with sleep.

You stopped in your tracks, hand on the door frame as you looked back at your girlfriend and tilted your head in confusion.

"Yeah?"

"Get your ass over here." Regina demands, you sigh and listen. Going to her bedside. She grabs you by your waist and suddenly pulls you into her lap, making you gasp at the sudden action.

"Regina-"

She cuts you off with a kiss, making you quickly shut up and melt into her body.

Regina parts the kiss and stares into your eyes, hand gripping your chin to make sure you had your full attention on her.

"You're changing out here. Repeat what I told you yesterday." Her tone was stern, but it didn't come from a place of meanness like it usually does for everyone else. She was always a little softer on you.

"You told me a lot of things yesterday," You gave a teasing response back, you knew what Regina wanted you to say. You wanted to see how much you could get away with.

She rolled her eyes, her grip tightening around your chin just slightly." Don't be a smartass."

"Fine... I'm beautiful." You muttered, she could tell by how you said it you didn't mean it.

"Y/N." Her tone remained the same.

"I'm beautiful." You repeat, Regina kissed your cheek and let go of your chin.

"Damn right you are. Now get dressed. Where's your jacket?" She added, looking around her room for a brief moment to see if she could spot it.

You looked at her in confusion. Your jacket?

"My letterman jacket?" You asked, wondering why the hell Regina would want it.

"Yeah. Where'd you put it?"

"Um... I think it's on the couch downstairs. Why?"

Regina rolled her eyes, getting out of bed. There was a slight shake in her legs which made you smirk, feeling pretty damn proud of yourself because you knew she was still effected by the night before.

"I'm wearing it. Obviously."

"To school?" Your eyes widened a little, that jacket had your last name on it. Was she seriously about to reveal your relationship?

"No, to a funeral. Yes, dumbass." Regina narrowed her eyes, annoyed with the amount of questions you were asking though she couldn't help feeling a little amused when she saw your reaction. She was planning on hard launching your relationship. She wanted people to know she was taken by you. She wanted it to be the talk of the school. She knew exactly what she was doing with this.

And sure enough, everyone at school knew Regina belonged to you and that you belonged to her. When they saw her in your jacket it started so many rumours and for the first time in your entire highschool life... nobody bothered you. They didn't want to risk the wrath of Regina George.

Washington leads a corporate law firm specializing in police detective work, where a team comprising Alex, John, Laf, Herc, Aaron, Eliza, Angelica, Peggy, Charles, James, Thomas, James R, and Maria is engaged in the investigation of the Levi Weeks case, who stands accused of murdering a woman. Unbeknownst to them, this solitary suspect, is connected to a vast mafia organization that they could not have anticipated. Alex and Aaron serve as his defense attorneys, while Thomas and James take on the role of prosecutors. The remaining team members are tasked with various detective and espionage duties across different sectors, collaborating effectively to apprehend the perpetrator. The ensemble experiences emotional turmoil, financial struggles, and a series of unexpected developments that significantly alter their circumstances. Samuel serves as King George's chief aide and assistant, tasked with traveling to the United States to provide George Washington with documents concerning Levi, who is under suspicion for multiple crimes and significant fraud in England. King George retains his royal authority in this matter, and both he and Samuel arrive in the US to collaborate with Washington and the ham cast, as the situation has implications for Britain as well as the United States.

Eliza and Alex were in a relationship until Eliza became pregnant at the age of 14, which led to their breakup due to parental pressures, and eventually, they lost their feelings for each other. They remain good friends and are on phenomenal terms. And Phillip goes to Eliza' and Alex's place equally. After finding out what Alex did to Aaron(scroll to the other ones you'll find out) she immediately finds hatred and finds out GeorgeE shot Phillip after Alex told Phillip to be a man and yell at Eackcer. After Phillip's coma ends, she sees Alex's true intentions and saw how misunderstood he was and how he ulitimately caught Weeks and his organization she forgives him (past hamliza and hamliza friendship)

The situation was similar for Aaron and Theo Sr., who had Theodosia when they were 14. Their relationship ended due to Theodosia Sr. having a boyfriend at that time, a fact that Aaron was unaware of. They are currently not on good terms and Theo's mostly with Theo sr since Aaron's working most of the time. (past theoburr)

Dolley and James maintained a romantic relationship throughout their college years and briefly at the law firm during the case. However, James discovers that Dolley is employed at the Levi organization after their breakup and has consistently displayed rudeness towards Thomas, so he immediately breaks up with her.

Eliza developed an immediate fondness for Sam upon his arrival in the United States; however, Samuel initially had feelings for Angelica. Over time, he recognizes that Eliza is a more suitable match for him, appreciating her kind nature and their shared intelligence and interests. (samliza!) WARNING; rairpair

Angelica despised Charles during their high school years due to his constant confrontations with the hamilsquad, whom she regarded as her own children. However, as they collaborated on the case, she began to recognize his misunderstood nature, and some things unfolded about him, leading to the development of mutual feelings between them. John and Peggy have had limited conversations, yet John has harbored feelings for her since elementary school. The hamilsquad often teased him about this, particularly in light of Alex's previous relationship with Eliza. However, during the recent case, Peggy begins to reciprocate his feelings. Washington subsequently assigns them to collaborate on various aspects of the investigation, leading to their eventual romantic involvement. (jeggy!)

Aaron and Alex have consistently been academic rivals, all throughout school and harboring mutual hatred for one another. However, circumstances in Washington made them to serve as co-defensive attorneys for the Weeks case, the two men Initially resistant to the situation, they eventually confide in each other about their struggles to be exemplary fathers. This shared vulnerability fosters a connection between them, leading to a romantic relationship. However, Maria manipulates Alex into cheating on Aaron with her, and since everyone in this firm are famous and substantial members in the economy and government, Alex publishes the affair, titled the 'Reynolds pamplet' which brings severe hurt and loss of money and sales at the law firm. Leaving Aaron helpless and devastated. As he realizes what Maria did and the surrounding events. He eventually forgives Alex and Alex treats him how he should be treated! (hamburr!!!)<3

George and Washington have been acquainted for some time through governmental duties, yet their relationship did not flourish until George and Sam arrived in the United States. George often teases Washington as a means of concealing his true feelings, which initially frustrates Washington; however, he eventually develops an affection for George. Despite George's obliviousness to this change, they ultimately engage in a heartfelt conversation that leads to love. Washington's rare gentle demeanor is primarily reserved for George, his students, particularly the Hamilsquad, and mostly Alex! (cause they have this father-son relationship!) (georgesquared!)

James and Thomas have maintained a close friendship since childhood, with Thomas harboring deeper feelings for James while dating others to conceal them. Throughout high school, James was in a relationship with Dolley, which ended due to her disrespectful behavior towards Thomas. This incident intensified Thomas's feelings for James. Recently, James has observed unusual behavior from Thomas and finds himself developing reciprocal feelings during their time together while assisting their jobs as the prosecuting attorneys. Their emotional tension culminates in an unexpected romantic encounter(hookup) at a party, which blossoms into a deeper connection. (jeffmads!!!!!)<3

James Reynolds and Maria have long been regarded as the OG power couple, having been together since their middle school years. However, during the AU, Maria has an affair with Alex, whom she had manipulated following weeks of harassment from Weeks.(levi basically forced her to manipulate alex for his own gain) which caused significant distress and devastation for James during when Alex writes and published the affair to save himself. Initially devastated by her betrayal, James eventually comes to understand the circumstances surrounding it, and why Maria did what she did. Once the firm becomes aware of the situation, Maria reassures James of her deep affection for him, leading to their reconciliation.

Lafayette and Hercules have been a couple since their high school days, experiencing occasional conflicts yet consistently demonstrating resilience in their relationship. Their attractiveness and romantic involvement often evoke envy among their peers. Additionally, they work as detective partners, and during the case, Laf is shot, prompting Herc to heroically rescue him, which further highlights the depth of their bond.

Ariana"Bullet" and George Eacker share an established relationship and no one knows that they have been working for Weeks' organization the entire time. During a park hangout with Theo, Phillip overhears George disparaging Alex and the firm, prompting him to inform Alex. Misinterpreting George as just another kid troublemaker, Alex encourages Phillip to be a man and yell at him. This confrontation leads to a tragic outcome when George shoots Phillip, leaving him in a coma. Ariana, who holds a deep affection for children, is furious with Eacker, and both ultimately recognize the gravity of their actions, especially after their arrest.

Theodisa and Phillip, who are best friends, eventually enter into a romantic relationship as they grow older. Theo was present with Phillip at the park when he overheard George Packer disparaging the company, and she is heartbroken upon learning that George shot Phillip. Throughout his coma, she remains steadfastly by his side, and once he recovers, their bond deepens significantly.

Alex and Phillip have consistently shared a strong bond, and upon learning that Phillip had been shot due to his own actions, Alex fell into a profound depression, unable to forgive himself. However, once Phillip recovered, he comforted his father by affirming that the incident was not his fault and expressing his admiration for him, stating that Alex's parenting was more than sufficient for him. Burr and Theo have maintained a strong bond, yet their interactions have been very limited due to Burr's work commitments. And he is unaware of the extent of Theo Sr.'s mistreatment towards Theo JR., Burr provides comfort to Theo during her emotional devastating regarding Phillip. As Burr uncovers the troubling things which have been happening between Theo and Theo SR., he successfully advocates for her, ultimately securing full custody. This victory deepens their relationship, as Theo holds a profound affection for her father.

John and Alex have maintained a close friendship since their elementary school days, with John consistently serving as Alex's steadfast companion through various experiences, including the pamphlet incident and matters concerning Phillip.
