⠀⠀⠀⠀“juls, are you jealous?” mae looks up from her phone, fingers halting its movements from texting kaiser. she raises a brow with a taunting smirk as her irises look at his golden chocolate hues in amusement. a strand of hair falls from behind her ear as she stares at the dark skinned boy that stifles an airy laugh, clearly finding her comment funny. “not the slightest. did we meet up at a bad time?”

“i was just texting someone.” mae puts her phone down on the table as julian loki, a very good childhood friend of her does the same. loki had noticed earlier that she was a bit preoccupied with her phone, smiling ear to ear with whoever she was texting that his words didn't even reach her ears. rather than saying something, he texted her to garner her attention.

“a guy?” loki asks in a teasing tone, yet still interested for what mae had to say. looking at her who had picked up her drink to sip on and glancing on to his phone that was opened to twitter. “yeah.” mae closes her eyes, a hum to answer his question.

there's a small silence between them, only the sound of the door opening with a ring for another customer to walk in the door for the cafe's business. lo-fi music that that softly plays through the room with lots of fresh coffee to be smelt as the pause is resumed by loki's voice.

“your boyfriend?”

“he wishes.”

“is he the same guy you tweeted about calling you ‘liebe’?” the boy smiles innocently as mae gapes at for a bit, her sipping was a little too loud even as she tries to process his question. she then refers back to her most recent tweet, “since when did you see that post?”

“first thing i saw on twitter when you were flirting with him.” loki lifts up his phone to show mae the screen as she leans forward, even swiping his twitter to refresh it. her private account tweet was still there, but it did make sense that loki didn't follow many people in the first place so it was a given he'd see all the shit she posted.

“cheeky as always, mon beau.” the girl giggles at his witty remark, moving back to her seat as she places her drink back down on the table. loki sighs, bashful at her comment as he puts his phone down, free hand scratching the nape of his neck as with a smile on his face. “i'm still not used to your compliments, mon chérie.”

“it’s okay, babes. i’ll be here to stay.” mae sent a friendly wink towards loki's way, causing him to laugh more or so awkwardly at her antics. he should've been used to this, but being around mae and her flirty behaviour still hadn't made him immune. “anyways, what did you want to talk to me about that you flew all the way from france for?”

“it’s about my sister.”

⠀⠀⠀⠀￫ mae has a stash of pilsner beer in place.

⠀⠀⠀⠀￫ mae doesn't really know many pro athletes aside from loki, and since she knew most of the players were famous in her university she decided to google kaiser's name.

Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away.

In prep for our visit to Indy I searched “spicy sausage Indianapolis” and Claus German sausage was revealed. I bought 2 dozen links of various sausages and put them in my cooler.

After sausages and a Pilsner at the historic Rathskeller we drove north to a newer “different” place.

Amburana barrel aged stout.

After dark we cozied up in my fav place in Indy where I drank cask conditioned bitter ale next to my wife and a fireplace.

We ended our drinking session at Sun King’s small batch brewery where I had two doubles, IPA and Belgian. I was tempted to have another but a different double was calling my name.

Now I long for yesterday

Ooo! Okay this is a fun one!

Chucky LOVES German Beer. Beer from the mother land as he calls it. Pilsner is his favorite! But occasionally he'll have a vodka, tequila, or whiskey!

Slappy's also a beer and whiskey kind of guy! But he also enjoys Margaritas and Piña coladas!

Jig though prim and proper does drink occasionally! He enjoys red wine and though people may not expect this he enjoys strong vodka and sometimes he'll have a whiskey.

Billy though not much of a drinker like Slap and Chuckle enjoys Paloma cocktails! And he'll have a Piña coladas! Sometimes he'll have a beer

made the de-icer drink and while it is a genuinely stunning shade of red it actually tastes, in my humble opinion, pretty bad. I do like borscht but actually I think that's the problem; I prefer my beets vinegary and savory and so adding three different sweeteners is not the ticket. I also think the beer I had available, a locally brewed German-style pilsner, does complement the other flavors. anyway now I gotta use up the rest of the beet juice so send me your recommendations.

after a bit of sleuthing Sriracha appears to be a brewery but lemme tell you, my German ass was not prepared to read the words "sriracha pilsner" today

I don't drink as much as I used to but when I do, I try to make it count. I'm lucky enough to live just a couple blocks from a wonderful brewery called Dovetail that brews continental lagers and ales, beers based on traditional German, Czech and Belgian styles. I visited Dovetail today to sample a couple half liters of their newest beer, simply called Pils. It's advertised as somewhere between a Czech and German pilsner beer. A new flagship from what I've been told. It is refreshing and crisp from the stichfass (wooden cask) and plenty bitter for its 4.6 percent alcohol by volume. It's really quite good. Future signature beer for Dovetail?
