i use tumblr so much and for so many different things / interests / fandoms that i always forget the whole reason i started using tumblr was so that i could be a part of the online ghostbusters fandom a few years ago. i remembered this last night and i looked around and realized everyone i used to follow during that time either moved on or indefinitely closed their accounts. i’m seeing a lot of “updated 2 years ago”. is there still a ghostbusters fandom on here?? i can’t believe we all forgot about each other. i’ve had a lot of hyper fixations and been a part of a lot of fandoms but this one in particular is hard for me to get over for some reason. Guys, we were a COMMUNITY. WHAT HAPPENED

Can we all agree that the extended version of Ghostbusters 2016 is far superior than the theatrical version, because the extended version has the dance number? 🪩

It's so weird that the theatrical version cuts that out, so the police are just... in disco poses for unexplained reasons.

it does?!?! are you kidding???? 😭😭😭 oh my god that breaks my absolute heart;;;;; honestly i can't weigh in as i've only seen the extended version (i fell in for Rowan and wanted As Much Time With Him As Possible 🙈🙈) and the idea that they didn't keep in his goofy mind-control disco is really scary 💔💔 wheeze!!!! like that thing from Star Trek where they edited out Spock getting injured one time and never explained why he had a limp!! my other frustration with it is that we didn't get much of Rowan's sinister hilarity while he was in his original body...like, perhaps that's a better demonstration of his hatred towards humanity and himself. but i always found it quite a dizzying tonal shift, how he becomes so quickly playful as soon as he's dead... ...not that i'm complaining too much 🥴💦

Ah, Answer the Call… Not my cup of tea, personally. I do like some of the ideas it presented, like Abby & Erin's personal conflict, Rowan getting his ideas from their book, and some of the unique equipment. My problem is that I feel all the potential of these ideas were wasted on a story that wasn't particularly funny or entertaining to watch. I don't see the point of pushing the all female team either, since it had no impact on the plot and wasn't used for any sort of feminist commentary. Smarter people than me have already made longer critiques, so I won't dwell on this.

I don't want to be overly negative, though. I know ATC has a dedicated fanbase of it's own, and I enjoy seeing their fan art, fanfic, and cosplays. I'm happy other people can find enjoyment in it even if I don't. It's also nice to see that the ATC timeline is still acknowledged in official material, too. The girls appearances in the IDW comics were fun and it's cool to see their cosmetics included in the Spirits Unleashed game.

As for Peoplebuster versions of the girls in grey, I did actually draw a couple of them as commissions! I did Flip Erin and Flip Abby for my friend @erin-gilberts. I haven't made designs for Patty or Jillian yet, but I have thought about them. Flip Patty could be a creature with exposed veins or nerves and have telekinetic powers, while Flip Jillian could have extra mouths and control sound.

y’know what, my headcanon is that the ghostbusters movies are all the “based on a true story” movies of what went down, much like (IIRC) the real ghostbusters did with the original film

except II, it was a cash grab sequel, though a damned good one

all the actors from the original cameo-ing in ATC were, in fact, the characters cameo-ing in that one
